Oscar and Emmy Lose a Friend is an emotional and educational read about saying goodbye to a furry loved one which is not easy no matter how young or old you are. Grief is different for everyone and especially little people, but Terri has done a brilliant job of putting together a controversial topic for a child and made it into a story that is caring and easily shared. I like that she doesn’t shy away from topics that others would not think to do especially for kids where it is a confusing and hard time. It is a story about making those tough and importance decision together as a family. The bright and colourful pictures help to explain the process of what happens and to know it is ok to be sad and miss them. I see there are many more adventures for Oscar and Emmy to read to my family.
Lois writes children’s books with a wide range of topics and cleverly creates tales that are easily imagined with the beautiful pictures shown. In this story she has thrown in some science fiction elements that makes the story just a little bit more exciting. Xenia and the Magic Ants is a bit of a sad story and is a controversial political story addressing deportation. It is confusing for adults let alone children and Lois does a good job of explaining this in terms that a child would understand. Xenia Navarro has never been so scared when her Mexican mother gets arrested and is about to be deported but hopes they will all be together again soon. Read along with Xenia to find out what happens to her family.

Her writing is dark, raw, and gritty and captivates the reader. Deadly Vengeance is a charming and seductive dark mafia thriller romantic story that has secrets and lies, intrigue and darkness, angst and fear and intrigue to keep the pages turning get the heart pumping. Anise writes character that you will either love or hate. I enjoyed the push pull between the characters which starts right from the start. One thing is for sure and that is their honour to protect at all costs those that they love. Vengeance turns rivals once pitted against one another into love or is it hate? Secrets will be exposed, mayhem reigns, ulterior motives, violence and death all come with the territory. This steamy read is full of sexy, dangerous and possessive Mafia men who live in a dangerous and violent world. Russian and Royally Complicated is book 2 in The Crowned Hearts series. It is a stand-alone enemy to lovers by the dynamic duo USA Today Bestselling Authors Gwyn McNamee and Christy Anderson. These opposites attract story is sweet, sexy, full of passion and fun and add in a bit of vodka and spice, and you are drawn in and the pages fly by. Off the charts chemistry and flying sparks in more ways than one happens when there are secrets and hidden identities. Gwyn and Christy turn up the heat and turmoil in this one night of hate sex but what happens after stuns them all. Just as the first book Royally Complicated it is chock-a-block full of twists, complications, royalty, duty, a country possibly coming undone, lies and so much more. It is also filled with drama, action and humour and just enough need and romance. This steamy read will leave you with all the feels. There are a few of the characters that evoke strong emotions in the reader. I said it before with the first book, but I will say it again this writing duo make a good team. The Guardsman is the second book and heartfelt tale in the The Olympic Peninsula series by Cat. This book follows on from the Woodsman where we met Ali and JJ. Just as the first book was it is an interesting story that will have you falling in love with our MC’s. Cat’s vivid storytelling brings to life the story of a man whose world literally blown apart. Liam Ryan has been lost and is broken but he is trying to put his life back together again with the help of his sister. He struggles with his new world and hopes to find what it is that may make him whole again. It certainly isn’t the society princess that he comes face to face with. With frustrations, sometimes hopelessness, hopes and passion sparks fly in this romantic tale. Teresa has had her fair share of troubles and isn’t what everyone thinks she is. Looking for a place to lay low she finds more than she was bargaining for.
This well-written romance tale should be a must on your reading list.

3.5 stars A Forever Kind of Thing by Carrie Thomas & Melinda Harris is a YA, NA romance tale. This is the first book that I have read by either of these authors and I wasn’t sure it was something that I wanted to read. It took me a bit to get into the story. High school stories do that, but I wanted to give this story a go. Being from the wrong side of the tracks she was the target of bullies, intimidation, cruelty that many find themselves in at school. Now she is the one others envy but behind it all is a broken girl with hidden secrets. That is until he walks back into the picture. There is sadness, betrayal, pain, hurt, angst, tension, heartbreak, heartache, hope, shame and a whole other rollercoaster of emotions that our MC goes through in this story. It was hard not to feel for our MC and the tumultuous life that she endured. Kids can and are cruel at times. There were times that I just wanted to hug her and later on there were times when I wanted to smack some sense into her. If you love a rocky road to love YA/NA story, then you will like A Forever Kind of Thing.

4.5 stars Sing For Me is the second book in the adult rock romance series Balefire. The books all carry on from each other, but it can be read as a standalone. It is an erotic contemporary story. The series focus’ on each member of the band Balefire and this is Blu and Ashleigh’s story. The story is told in dual POV giving a deeper depth to who the characters are. It is erotic, sensuous, seductive, passionate and intense. There is sex, booze, and rock ‘n’ roll. The story is a quick and easy read as we travel along with the pull and desire of the relationship. Blu the lead singer of Balefire one of the hottest bands around and can’t help but fall for the neighbour that is so not his type. Game on! Ashleigh loves her peaceful life, well her once peaceful life. When her sexy neighbour roars into town it takes all, her will power to ignore him. He of course has other ideas. If you love erotic stories that are sexy full of rock ‘n’ roll and likable characters, then get your hands on this book and this series. You won’t regret it.

4.5 stars A Rainbow Like You is the second novel written by the award-winning author and TV producer, Andrea Fehsenfeld. There is also an original companion rock song of the same name to listen to. This drama filled unique mix of music and narrative is a compelling tale of a troubled reclusive rock legend and a young man who is a synesthete. It was interesting to read about another synesthete. My son is one. He is also a musician, who sees musical notes through colours. Andrea has written an engaging and vivid tale with complex and fully developed characters. In this story we get an insightful look at the life of musicians and how to survive or not survive in the business. This heartfelt tale is a must read for anyone who loves music and a story with heart. You will have to read it to find out what happens. It is one of those stories that does more justice to read it than to hear about it.

Dead Keen is the second book in the gripping Things Unseen series by Anise Eden. I absolutely loved the first book and this one was just as good. You do not have to read them in order as they can be read as standalone, but I implore you to start with the first book and work your way through. You will be missing out on such great stories and insights into the wonderful characters. With dangers still lurking escaping to the beautiful Emerald Isle, (a place that stole my heart when I visited) seems like just the thing but it soon becomes a deadly game of cat and mouse. Dead Keen is a page turning psychological thriller where the suspense and tension is palpable. When deadly evil cult leaders, ancient gods and video game designers become involved there are menacing lies and secrets, deceit and deadly dangerous games a foot. This dangerous world goes far beyond and one with far and wide repercussions. Anise has once again cleverly crafted an intricate and complex web that is masterfully thought out and executed. It is unpredictable, but it has just the right amount of humour. This is a psychological thriller at its finest and one that should not be missed out on. Prepare to be delighted if not on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding.

4.5 stars Royally Complicated is a stand-alone forbidden romance tale with a bad boy. Who doesn’t love a bad boy story. The book is a really good read however a little cliché. But Gwyn and Christy do throw in a little turmoil and a few tough emotions that gives the story just that bit more making it a must read. It is fun and sexy and sweet and spicy, and the writing draws you in. The chemistry between Bridget and Fyn is off the charts. When she meets Fyn, the sparks fly. One night is all they thought they would have. It is full of complications, cheating, betrayal, royal duty, some unscrupulous family, prince charming, a kingdom in turmoil, misunderstandings and foes that you may or may not see coming. Royally Complicated is just that and is an emotional read, filled with chaos and drama, action and heart pounding moments and some much-needed humour and love. This steamy read will leave you with all the feels. There are a few of the characters that you will love to hate and hate to love and royal or not you will want to smack them. Overall, the book was a really good read and this writing duo make a good team. I look forward to reading second book in the series.

Softest Touch is a heartwarming contemporary romance story by Adina. This is my first read by Adina and it is a sweet tale that will have you believing in love. It is a quick read that I would have loved to be a bit longer. This beautifully written tale is sexy and a little swoon worthy. I fell in love with the storyline and characters and with a dash of suspense mixed in it gave it an extra element. There is some trouble in paradise and their relationship is not without its challenges. There is lots of emotions, some angst, attraction, hope, passion and more. The story of Derek and Melinda is one you can’t help but fall in love with. Derek thought he had it all but then she walked into his life. To find out what happens you will need to read it for yourself. No spoilers here or it would ruin it for you. If you need a few hours to yourself and are looking for a light, quick read, with a bit of suspense then I recommend Softest Touch.

Love Shots is a contemporary romance and the fourth book in the Bluestone series. The story comes with all the ups and downs of living in a small town with an eclectic group of town folk. It is a fun read that will have you laughing at times. I think Bluestone may just be a place to be. I really enjoy Isobel’s easy way of telling a story. It makes it easy to fall into the story and the lives of others. This small-town romance has something for everyone who loves a romance with sexy with sexy cowboys, strong and sassy leading ladies. I found myself laughing out loud at the banter and goings of when these two come together. Summer down on her luck finds her way back to Bluestone County only to find her childhood friend taking the one thing she loved. Teddy has to duck and deal with a certain fiery blonde when she realises, he has the one thing she wants. I fell in love with the town and the characters as they navigate from friends to lovers. As always, I look forward to reading more from Isobel.

Lilly Tames Her Worries is a cute children’s book that showcases Lilly and her need for a favourite toy to be on hand like most kids do. But what happens when mum is trying to ween you from having it 24/7? Carole has written a clever story for kids of all ages to learn how to let go and deal with the unexpected and their anxiety, the “Heebie-jeebies.” This not just a story it is a teaching method. It is very well done, and the bright and cheerful pictures help in doing so. The exercises are simple and easy to help calm little minds and Journey along with Lilly as she learns to be brave and strong and control her need and anxieties.
4.5 stars Cruel King is a captivating dark twisty tale full of frustration, angst, drama, suspense, sexual tension, and chemistry. Cruel is definitely an apt title for this King. This push pull relationship left me frustrated at times and I wanted to smack someone, well I wanted to do much more harm, but we’ll go with smack and hug the others. Just as well that there was some redemption. Cruel King an enemies-to-lovers trope that is an emotional train wreck and yanks at your heart strings. KM has cleverly woven a plot that is twisted and at one point disturbing, but it is so good that you can’t put it down. What happens when everyone is against what your heart wants? Will he destroy the only one he loves? Will she forgive the one who has twisted her thoughts and all but broken her heart? What happens when three does not equal two? You are going to need a good stiff drink after reading this. With 5 king brothers there is plenty of fodder for future stories. I can’t wait to dive into all of them. I am now off to sample some more of KM’s books.

I fell in love with the characters in Captivated the first book in the Hybrid lover’s series and am just as captivated by this second book, Mesmerised. Even though it is the second book in the series it actually takes place before the first book Captivated so they can be read as standalones. Wow, talk about emotional overload but there is also fun to be had. It’s a hard toss up but I think his one is my favourite story to date by Toya. Although I did say that last time. LOL. This a fated mates romance tale is unique and original, and I really enjoy the ease of Toya’s writing. Antoine is a hybrid mix of vampire and angel. He knows his perfect mate is out there but has yet to find her. Donna is human and in the depth of despair but meeting her unexpected fated mate changes that. These wonderful characters are so easy to fall in love with and find yourself invested in their story. This gripping paranormal tale full of magic and supernatural elements, drama, angst and so much more. It is also sweet, sexy and sizzling hot. There lots of action and danger when faced with demons hellbent on destroying mankind. Trust me you will fall in love with this story and won’t be able to put it down until you have finished it. Remember sleep is overrated.
4.5 stars Expect the unexpected is what I have learnt from the bruja Maria DeBlassie. This interesting and insightful book gives a unique perspective on the arcana of the Tarot cards. Conversations with the Tarot is an inspiring tool to teach readers how to read tarot cards told in a lyrical prose. Maria shares their meaning and her thoughts and musings that underlies the Tarot. She shares her meditations, her spiritual journey and transformation of oneself in a holistic way. It is her hope that it will give each reader to open up thought, to inspire, to open oneself to magic, to new beginnings and possibilities and so, so much more. Maria sharing her wisdom and knowledge has made me pull my cards from their purple silken wraps and see them with fresh eyes and get back to my witchy roots. Well done, Maria.

It also full of interesting titbits. This wonderful adventure story is about friendships. It is a wonderful story, and it doesn’t matter if you are an alien form outer space or not you will learn about making new friends and how to nurture those friendships. Lois’s stories are valuable tools that help with shaping and the development of skills as they get to enjoy alien adventures. It is a must as a gift for a special occasion or just because. There are many more adventures to read to my grandbabies and my new great granddaughter.

This historical romance sheds light on a time when Caucasians and African American relationships were frowned upon. Stacy-Deanne does not shy away from the tough topics when it comes to interracial matters. This African American tale is a quick and easy engaging read and is a forbidden lover’s romance story. There is an age gap but when it comes to love it doesn’t matter. Set in a small-town, Billie Jean fights for those who can’t or won’t. If she sees something she doesn’t like. He is proud of his achievements, but unexpected love will make him do crazy things, or does it? Grab your copy to find out. There is lots of angst, anger, frustration, challenges, sex appeal and chemistry between our characters. The characters are well-written, and they did make for a interesting story. I am looking forward to seeing what Stacy-Deanne brings next.

Fortune’s Favorite is the second book in the Soulbound Journeys series. The Soulbound Journeys Series takes place after the events of the third book Magic-Borne, in The Crown of Stones Trilogy. Whilst you don’t have to read the trilogy first, I suggest you do because you get a better understanding of the characters and who they are. It also means that you have a better understanding of what they have been through. I am glad CL is writing this series because I enjoyed the trilogy so much. It is dark, mystical and magical and so easily imagined. It is a complex and thrilling world that is unique and intriguing. CL’s writing always manages to leave you wanting more. This gripping story will keep even the keenest reader guessing at each and every turn. Troy tries to convince his once closest friend that they are on a fool’s errand, but Jarryd can’t reconcile that fact. Now their relationship is strained and any hope they had of freedom was just lies. Troy may just have to battle to save not only his but his friends life. Troy and his best friend are my favourite characters, but I felt sadness at where they are now at. Fortune’s Favorite is a fast-paced story, full of drama, action and magic. I know you will enjoy this journey into this magical world.

Mr Lucky is Lee Wood’s first novel in the Trentbridge Tales. It is an interesting and original tale set in England UK. I think readers will be surprised by this story and it’s twisty and unusual plot. Mr Lucky is not so lucky he is suffering from a heart-wrenching loss. Detective James Sheldon had it all and hit rock bottom, but fate had other plans for him. Some say a win is a good thing but not when it brings trouble to your doorstep. He has many demons to overcome and dangers to face. There are characters that you will like and some not at all. The villain is a truly despicable person but that comes through the intriguing narrative. Mr Lucky is psychological crime thriller that had me on the edge of my seat at times and at others my heart breaking. If you like British crime thrillers, then you will enjoy Mr Lucky. I look forward to more of James Sheldon and his adventures.

4.5 stars Firewall is a compelling romantic suspense tale. For some reason The Pelican Brief popped into my head when I was reading it. Jessica’s narrative pulls the reader in to the world she has created and the characters. This tale is told in dual POV allowing us to get another layer to the characters. With lots of twists and turns things are heating up on the path to survival. The intensity of the suspense is palpable making the pages turn and before you know it, it is over, and you have read it in one sitting. Veronica has unwittingly stumbled across something that put her in the crosshairs of those who wanted to keep it buried. This short tale is fast paced but it packs a punch and leaves you wanting more. An unexpected betrayal makes her wonder who can she trust? If you enjoy romantic suspense stories, then you will like this one. I highly recommended.
4.5 stars One thing I like about Courtney’s stories is that even though they are fantasy, paranormal, supernatural and romance tales they are as different as night and day and that keeps it interesting. Vampires of Atlantis is the first book in the Atlantis Trilogy and is as original as it is refreshing. I found myself engrossed in this unique urban fantasy tale. Courtney has done it again and given us a story that is easy to get lost in and invested in the outcome. Atlantis, vampires, werewolves and other creatures are woven together in this tangled web of survival. I love that the Courtney makes things realistic but in a paranormal way. The world building that has been created where Vampires dwell is easily imagined and is only limited by one’s imagination. Getting to explore the nuances of Atlantis, the lore and treasures is just as intriguing. Its tale is told from dual POV, so you get a much more in depth look at the characters and the world they belong in. There is violence, a little sexiness, and insta love. Katherine was left for dead, but a stranger helped her. Now she is faced with a decision to help the person who helped her. To face danger in a battle for survival of the Descendants of Atlantis from a true evil. I hope this is a start to a new series. As always, I am looking forward to more from the talented Ms Courtney and the Atlantis Trilogy. Bring on the second book Aristotle’s Wolves.

Liz’s Road Trip by Bernadette Marie is a delightful contemporary romance story. One quirky young woman. One cat. Secrets from the past. A road trip. A romance. The characters are engaging and well developed with flaws and with their own distinct personalities. Whilst Liz did annoy me a few times I did enjoy the story. This story has everything that makes it a sweet read that is full of grief and sorrow, passion and some humour, hope and love, steam and some wit. This story is also full of secrets and fears, reflection and healing. This compelling story is full of twists, turns and a few loops. It is so easy to get lost in this tale and before you know it you have come to the end. It is also told in dual POV which is my favourite way to tell a story. Liz’s Road Trip reveals secrets of a woman simply known as Grandma to her. It appears there was a lot more to Grandma than she ever knew. A life that she never knew about. Revealing her grandma’s past is helped along by a stranger. As she peels back the layers of her grandma’s life, she learns how to truly live. As always, I look forward to more from Bernadette.

Unexpected Heroes by Naomi Valkyrie – I really enjoy reading Naomi’s work and was delighted to see she had a story in this anthology. This is a MM second chance small town romance where love is found in the most unlikely of places but when one mans past rears its ugly head, love will have to take a backseat for the safety of him and his son. Starting over is the right thing but why does it feel so lonely. Once broken by lost love now a sexy new single dad mends his heart, and he will do everything he can to save the man he now loves and his son. This suspense story is a definite page turner. I can’t wait to read more.
Quin to the Rescue by L.A. Remenicky – This is a cute, sweet tale with furry friends. A rescue by her sexy next-door neighbour a man in uniform. Who said it was only firemen who came to the rescue of a sassy female with claws? It looks like cops will help out as well. This light-hearted quick read left me wanting more.
Heroes & Hurricanes by TK Eldridge – Is an exciting romantic thriller. The surprises kept me on my toes. It had just the right amount of tension and suspense as a storm rolls into town. That is not all that rolls into town, but a storm is the perfect cover when you are after someone. Will he be able to get to her before it is too late? Hang on to your seats when reading this one.
Into the Flames by Dawn Luedecke – This wonderful fun small town high school nemesis romance tale had me laughing out loud at times. Broken hearts, lost love, burned trust and one fundraiser is what you will find in this sweet tale. Fake it till you make it! A happy ever after that will leave you wanting more.
Broken Pieces by Amelia Hayden – This heartfelt tale is a bit of an emotional read. It is a MM romance tale that will pull on the ol’ heartstrings. Not everyone returns home from war the same and he was one of those people. He suddenly finds his whole world shattered into pieces. Will he be able to find himself again? Well, you will just have to read it to find out.
Unbreak My Heart by Jade Marshall – This sexy story is a sister’s ex-husband. Already burnt is he willing to risk his heart again? It’s not his job that is going to set him on fire it is the most beautiful woman he can’t keep off his mind that sets the sheets on fire. Oh boy do they catch on fire.
Each story is the first book in brand new series. This collection of romance stories by these talented authors are hot and oh so sexy. Each and every story is original and just as intriguing and enjoyable as the next. Each author captivates you with their version of longing and want for that one person that makes you whole. Some are sweet, some are full of tension, some are full of angst and suspense and others so much more. Strong and sassy women and strong sexy alpha sexy men all heroes who know how to heat up the sheets. Everyday Heroes that will walk into danger to help those who are in need without a second thought. The characters are easily lovable with their flaws, their quirks and all their insecurities that you cannot help but fall in love with them. I now have a smorgasbord of authors and new series to explore.

4.5 stars Granting Katelyn is the second book in the heartfelt western romance series Sweet Valley by SE. I really enjoyed the first book where I was introduced to this author and her work. So, make sure you start with Raising Elle first you will not be disappointed. The plot is well thought out with well-rounded yet complex characters with depth and lots of supporting characters some you will love and others not so much. It is an emotional read that is full of pain and suffering, heartbreak and heartache that jumps off the pages it is so palpable. It is a story of a man who suffers from long term emotional abuse, and it is sometimes tough reading. It is a heartfelt tale that will make your heart ache. Grant already a broken man (thanks to his manipulative a’hole father) but now more so after an horrific accident just like his horse is now broken too. When he reaches out for help with his horse, he may just find a way to heal himself and finally find peace. Katelyn is a strong, confident woman who must find a way to work with a man damaged by his past and present and heal his horse. There are plenty of sexy and steamy scenes where sparks fly in one way or another. There is also very colourful and strong language that doesn’t bother me in the least, but it may offend some so I thought I would mention it. Follow along on this sweet journey of healing. I look forward to the next instalment of the Sullivan family.
4.5 stars Leaving No Traces is the fifth book in the A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome crime series. Even though this book is part of a series, you can read it just as easily as a standalone novel. The story is well paced with lots of tension, suspense, and mystery. There are realistic interactions between the characters some likeable and some not. The plot and world building are intriguing as we journey along with Detective Scala and others in solving this latest murder mystery. It is easy to become invested in the outcome of the story with its drama that is entertaining and interesting. Detective Scala must tread carefully when trying to wade through another web of deceit and corruption. What he finds just leads him to the underbelly of a world that criminals reside. A place where lives mean nothing. His goal is to catch the killer, protect a key witness and keep himself alive doing so. If you like whodunnits with ruthless villains, then you will enjoy this tale by P. J. Mann.

4.5 stars Refrain is the fourth heart wrenching book in the Off the Record romance series. It is a story that is full of angst and sexy but broken rockstars. Who doesn’t love a good rock and roll world story. I realised part way through that it was the fourth book so stopped reading this one and went back and read from the first book Off the Record: A Prelude. I am glad I did because you get a rounded picture of our tortured soul MC. It is hot and racy, with sizzling chemistry. With loss, secrets, lies, mistakes, wants, needs, judgement, pain, suffering, lost hope, self-loathing. The characters are flawed warts and all some you will like, and others could be better. Spook’s journey has been a tough one and Madelynne has certainly put him through his paces and us through the wringer. It pulled at my heartstrings. The intensity of the story with traumatic pasts, demons, mental health problems and damaged souls put me on an emotional roller-coaster ride hitting me in all the feels. Tissues are a must. I am not going to say any more because you really have to read this series to not only grasp the intensity, pain and torment of the MC but Madelynne’s fabulous writing and pulling it together so beautifully. I can not wait to read the grand finale Revive.

Heavy Shot is the seventh book in the sports Nashville Assassins: Next Generation series. Unfortunately, I didn’t realise it was the seventh book in the series until I went looking for the next book to read. Now I have started at the end I need to go back and start at the beginning with the first book with the first generation. Heavy Shot is an entertaining story with some laughter but it’s not all fun and games. There is some early childhood trauma that comes into play. This emotional and heartfelt tale is sexy, and sparks fly as the MC’s give in to what they want. Watch as the locker room steams up from more than just the showers. The characters are so easy to like and fall in love with they stole my heart. The Assassins are an Ice hockey team many following in their fathers’ legacies and Dimitri is no different. It is his life. Is history repeating itself? Will one encounter lead to a HEA? Well to find out you will have to read the story yourself.
