The Taste of Light is a historical romance tale and the second book in the series. I was pleasantly surprise by the first book and enjoyed Giovanna’s story telling.
This tale is richly told from 1872 Portugal and port to port as our characters are on the run. The story is steeped in history, traditions, cultures, a conspiracy and accusations and the love of winemaking. There is heartbreak, compassion and passion, tenderness, danger and tension, angst and animosity, chemistry and romance. We met Pedro in the first book but he is front and centre in this book. We find that there is so much more to this character and how he has been shaped. It is hard not to like him. As long as he cannot reconcile his past and present there is no future and all that he longs for. Anne finds herself in the most unlikely of circumstances and on a ‘road trip’. She is young and naïve but is full of light and wonder but don’t let that fool you. Under it all is a woman that has a backbone and strength. Will they make it together or will the past be too much to overcome? This intricately woven tale will have you hoping against hope that love will prevail.

Married Blind is a forced proximity contemporary romance tale. It is the second book in the Kings of Screen series but can be read as a standalone. I encourage you to start with the first book even though each book is about different characters who are sexy, steamy and spicy and let’s not forget British movie stars. I enjoyed the push pull and sassiness between these characters Finn and Abi. Their story is told in dual POV which gives them so much more depth and understanding of them as people. It is my preferred method of storytelling. The story is done in a reality show setting where sometimes it was hard to remember what reality is and what is not. Where there is a marriage of convenience a reality-TV husband and wife. Should be easy right? Wrong! This story is a light hearted romance tale that is a quick read. If you want to know what happens then you will have to grab a copy to find out for yourself. I look forward to reading more in the series.

Byrd knows how to write good gaslamp ghostly fantasy tales. Delicious Death is the second book in this historical series Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries. They are fun and easy to read. In this book Medium Elinor Chalamet finds herself trying to thwart an assassination. Murder, mystery and mayhem seem to find Madam Chalamet where ever she goes. There is no time off for this super sleuth even on holiday. Unfortunately as always the Duke thinks he is suited to find the suspect and once again getting in her way making things harder than they need. Gotta love the Duke. Now she must try to find the real suspect before murder once again becomes a reality.

Via’s writing fills the need in me to lose myself in fantastic dark and gritty stories with hot and sexy alpha men and Underboss’s Retaliation does just that. It is the second book in the fabulous Sicilian Gods series and what a tale she has woven for her readers. I love deliciously dark Mafia Protector Romances and Via is just so good at writing them. This enemies to lovers is explosive in more ways than one. There is drama and angst, lies and passion, fear and secrets, pain and action. It is raw and brutal, savage and sinful, passionate and bloody. One wrong move makes for a deadly outcome. In a world where loyalty is everything. A deadly game in an already deadly world. Ruthless criminals, dangerous and powerful men in the evil underground world where blood on your hands are a given. Where hot heads and passion rule. Revenge may well be his ruin? Oh how I love Via’s work. I can’t wait for more!

The Hawke Family Complete Collection is all the books in the first series by Gwyn. I was so excited when she made a complete collection. What could be better than having all 6 books at your fingertips to read one after the other. My first book I read by this wonderful author was Savage Collision and that is where my love of her writing began.
Savage Collision – Danika Eriksson is a woman on a mission, a mission to save her baby sister from the man who has seemingly drawn her into the seedy side of life, a strip club. She is like a dog with a bone and is hell bent on giving the man what for. She is intelligent, feisty and outspoken and not one to back down. When she comes face to face with one Savage Hawke, she gives him a piece of her mind an unapologetic piece at that. What she didn’t expect however was her attraction to him. I love the way our heroine doesn’t stay away from a good confrontation and speaks her own mind especially when it comes to those she loves most. Savage is certainly surprised when confronted by this woman who waltzed her way into his club to give him a piece of her mind. Hell, he may even like it. God knows his past has been one hell of a struggle with a monumental secret. But he has built a good life and has come so far in a few short years. Together they could be good, but will the threats be too much, and could a good thing be over before it even starts? Will Savage be able to save his girl, or will she be lost forever? Can Savage overcome his past to really see his future? Has Dani bitten off more than she can chew? I love the way things develop between our two main characters, especially when she realises Savage is really a good guy an exceptionally sexy one at that. I also enjoyed the little twists the author weaved within the story. It is filled with love, romance, suspense and regret. There was moment when I was biting my nails as things develop but there were also times of emotion that threatened to spill over. It is certainly a rough road for these two and I was rooting for them all the way. I also loved that our heroine was so freely able to speak her mind and what she actually said often had me laughing out loud. Gwyn McNamee is a must on everyone’s to READ list.
Tortured Skye – Tortured Skye (Hawke Family Novels) is the second book in the series by Gwyn McNamee and is an erotic contemporary romance that will set you on fire. I love anything Gwyn writes, and the Hawke Family series is one of my favourites. The emotions that Gwyn instils in her stories has the ability to grab you from the very first page and keeps you titillated right until the very last word. Skye Hawke has lost one half of herself and is still trying to come to terms with it by hiding her pain behind her stubborn and hot headedness and downright rudeness. She also has a secret, a secret she has had since she was sixteen years old. Gabe Anderson doesn’t do commitment, but now that he has noticed his best friend’s little sister is no longer little, he has more to lose whichever way he turns. Love the woman and lose the best friend or keep the best friend and lose the woman.
Stone Sober – was not what I expected, it was better. Gwyn is a great storyteller, and this is one of my favourite series. I have loved the other two books in the series, but this is my favourite so far, they just keep getting better and better, if that is even a possibility. Gwyn weaves lots of twists and turns that will have your heart pumping and emotions running all over the place. There are laughter and tears, sorrow and doubt, confusion and heartache, love and heartbreak and that is just naming a few. It is a little dark as well and that just adds to the excitement, drama and thrills. Stone is the baby of the family and has just returned home but he is not so sure that is a good thing. He has a secret that only one other person knows, a secret that has led him down the wrong path, a secret that he uses vices to try to escape from. Now he has found a new vice and knows he needs to stay away or ruin a beautiful thing. Nora is smart and sexy and turned away from a brilliant career to strip but no one knows her reasons and no one understands but it is the perfect job, it is freeing and that is just what she needs for now. But when she finally finds out who hides in the corner, in the shadows her life will forever be changed. Trust me this is an amazing story, and you will not want to put it down. It is hot and dark and forbidden and oh so good.
Building Storm – just blew me out of the water. I thought Stone was my favourite and now Building Storm has surpassed my expectations. Gwyn is an amazing writer and I always know I am in safe hands when I read one of her books. This story I devoured in one sitting, even though I had to get up for work the next day I absolutely could not set it aside. I was so wrapped up in the story time was gone before I even came up for air. Gwyn knows just the right ingredients to weave together to give you an experience you will not forget. Your heart will be pumping and jumping out of your chest and your emotions running all over the place. I felt as though I was the one in the story as I felt it all. I laughed, I cried and sobbed, my sorrow and love were real, my heart broke and at times I could not breathe. It is as beautiful as it is dark, it is as wonderful as it is sad, and it is raw and powerful. The complexity of the characters and their lives and the plot is a work of art. There will be no spoilers on this review as the story speaks for itself.
Tainted Saint – is one story I have been waiting for, Caroline’s story. I have said it before, but I will say it again, Gwyn is an amazing writer and I always know I am in safe hands when I read one of her books. As usual I devoured this story in one sitting. It is a quick and easy read, but I wished there was more. Caroline hid behind the mask and decided to let her inhibitions out for one glorious night with the man she thought didn’t even know she was alive. Saint has loved her since the very first time he saw her, but he is not good enough for her. One night is all he wants until he tastes her and then he knew he had to make her his. Gwyn is definitely a go to whenever a new story comes along.
Steele Resolve – is sadly the last book in this great series. I suggest you read all the books in the series in order so that you get the complete picture and backstories of all the wonderful characters. I have come to love all the characters in this series and am glad that Gwyn included Luca as part of the Hawke family. This sexy M/M romance is a story where it is bad enough being a mob boss without throwing being gay into the mix makes for one suspenseful and explosive story. Luca has come home and wants back into the Hawke family that he had when they were younger but when you are the son of one of the most dangerous mob bosses, you are by default just as bad as your surname. What he didn’t expect was to find the one person who could make his life complete. Byron can’t stop thinking about the man he had just had a one-night stand and when that person turns up for a meeting with the Hawke’s he realises just how much of a mess his life is now in. Will he reveal the truth to the people he sees as family or will he walk away from the best thing that has ever happened. This story was so good I am sorry to see the series end but can’t wait to see what Gwyn has in store for us in the future.
Naomi usually writes paranormal supernatural fantasy. The Husbands is her first attempt at a contemporary romance. As I have always said love is love and as always Naomi doesn’t shy away from and writes about what is not always considered the norm. It is a short read but one that definitely brings all the senses to life. It takes you on a rollercoaster ride with emotions. The tone of the story is full of push and pull, of angst and longing, hopes and fear, heartbreak and heartache, guilt and passion. Full of lies and secrets, doubt and temptation, of desperate want makes it one of those stories you just have to know how it all turns out. You know it’s a good story when there is a sad aw that rushes through you. My favourite way of storytelling is when it is tole through several POV and this one is. The characters Dorian and Augustine were easy to like and become invested in. I liked this story and the fact it was about the characters and not bogged down with unnecessary details. Not that I don’t love those but for this one it was right. I also like how the relationship was considered by taking in to account the feelings of significant others. For her first foray into this genre she has done well. I look forward to what comes next.
Falling Home is a sweet second chance romance is set in a small town in the magical holiday season. Where the snow is falling and trees are being trimmed and the magic of Christmas is everywhere. Well that is everywhere except where our female lead is at. The book is a good Christmas romance story. A quick read to be devoured in front of a fire snuggled up. Ginny is dreading returning to the charming town of Buckeye Falls where she left it all behind but now her Dad is ill she has no choice but to return. Max’s life has not been the same since she walked out of his life. Now she is back he vows to find a way to get her back in it. Can they put the past behind and make a new future? Can they ignite a spark that once was? All that and more will be answered when you grab a copy of this book. Why not grab a couple and give as Christmas gifts. If small town second chance romances are your thing then Libby’s novels will do the trick.

Reading this story helped to learn more about ladybugs and their habits. The story is both fun and factual as we journey along with Loretta in her garden and her love of ladybugs. The story is aimed at children aged 4 – 10 in primary (elementary) and one I am sure they will enjoy. As soon as we had finished this story my grandsons had me on our own garden adventure keeping an eye out for their very own ladybugs. Ladybugs for Loretta is another good learning story with colourful illustrations finishing out the book nicely.
Paranormal/Supernatural, demons and angels, Heaven and Hell these elements are right up my alley. The book is the first in the brand-new series Heaven and Hell. It is action-packed with Sully a demon hunter at the helm searching for his destiny. Barb has written a book that delves into places that are new, original and unique and not readily seen in other books of this kind making it that more interesting at the concept. I really liked the complex characters and the way this new world has been woven with many intricate threads. Mick’s world turned upside down and everything clicked into place the day he walked into her bar. Her destiny was revealed to her. But with secrets and lies, dark and light, demons and angels, will they be able to stay on their path or will they be lost. This compelling read will have lovers of the supernatural clambering to delve in. I look forward to seeing where this series goes.

Straight off ending the second book I jumped straight on to this one. I could not wait to see where Luciana was taking this story. Minotaur’s Lair is the third and unfortunately final book in the Servant of the Gods trilogy. There is a cast of many but they feel like old friends now we are approaching the end. Imagine thrust back in tome to a world where mythological creatures and beings, gods and monsters reside. Imagine being shipwrecked without your memory of where you are and why you are there. Curses in practice, danger at every corner, enough drama to last a life time, tensions running high and palpable this and more is what you can expect in this epic mythological fantasy read. The stakes are high in this last leg of the quest to find the relics needed to stop the annihilation of the god’s an Evans way home. Luciana’s passion for all things Greek mythology shines through with this original, complex and cleverly crafted tale. I look forward to reading what comes next.

Once again Luciana’s passion has given us an engaging and unique story born of mythology. There is a seamless transition for readers from book one (which finished on a cliff-hanger) to this one as Luciana recaps details. The Labyrinthine Journey is another original and lovingly crafted tale from Luciana. It is woven with ancient Greek mythology giving the story much more realistic depth. This cleverly constructed fantasy tale will captivate you and make you feel like you are the one on this time travel adventure. Danger is high when Evan finds himself transported from current times back into ancient Greece in mythical times. On a quest to save the Gods Evan and his Atlanteans friends find things don’t go the way they should as they are thwarted by those opposed to the god’s survival. With a whole host of characters, mythological creatures and beings, gods and monsters this vividly rich and well-crafted and complexly woven tale draws in and is only limited by your imagination. If you like mythology and fantasy tales where the characters are believable characters then this series is for you. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

3.5 stars Much Ado About Dying is the second book in this fantasy series by Rowan Day. As with the first book it is full of danger, tension, fear and uncertainty, sorrow and hope, pain and action and adventure. There are many unique and colourful characters to try to keep track of. This one revolves around Róisín and her need to put herself in peril to battle with an ancient god. If she doesn’t then the plagues will kill everyone if the god doesn’t kill her first. Much Ado About Dying is set in the beautiful lands of Ireland which made it easy to imagine having visited there. Unfortunately it’s not just the formidable god Róisín faces but she is also in the sight of extremists who want to see her and the Unhidden annihilated. The Unhidden are still struggling to learn what they have become and their new abilities and powers and to stay alive. This is a fast paced tale and once you get to know the vast characters, their complexities and the world Rowan has created it is easy to become invested. There is still a lot of over information which does bog you down at times and stilts the pace but it is still an intriguing story. I wonder where Rowan takes the story next.

The Sneaky Kitten is a fun storybook that one and all will enjoy. Another Unbirthday present from Grandpa and another adventure for Caspian. Hot chocolate and socks, kittens and aliens. What do they have in common? Well you will have to read this book to find out. Unfortunately I foresee trouble in the future as I had to remind my grandboys several times that they would not be using hot chocolate on their socks when they were so eager to try it. They laughed and loved the story and the pictures and I could see their imaginations running wild. I only hope I survive the wrath of their mother to be able to read them another Unbirthday story.
What a great title to get your imagination flowing and making it a must read to find out. Just where do Pirates go on vacation? Is there even such a thing? Where Do Pirates Go on Vacation? Is a fun picture book and is one of the books in Kim Ann’s Go On Vacation books. There are 7 books in this series of books. The books are aimed for children aged between 3 – 8 years old. The story is filled with bright and colourful illustrations that easily catch a child’s eye. Spellbound Seduction is set in Victorian England, circa 1850 and is a historical romance tale. I really fell in love with the Brightley Sisters in the first book and was glad to see Spellbound Seduction was out. This is Arabella’s story and what a story it is. I am not usually a huge fan of historical fiction because I don’t like how women could not inherit etc but Halley’s writing spoke to me. Whilst I still like those things I have enjoyed the Brightley Sisters series. The story is well written, with a twist of lies and deceit, secrets and broken hearts. Bella is determined to see her younger sister set in a suitable match. So she focuses her all on her younger sister Rosalind. She is resigned to a life on her own after losing her one true love. Just when she thought her life was settled the past comes galloping in changing everything but will the lies be too much to find her own happiness. The story will entice even those who are not lovers of historical romance. Witchcraft? Maybe…….

Love Tools is a contemporary romance and the first book in the Bluestone series. It is funny and had me laughing out loud and once again getting strange looks from those on the bus with me. Oh well it was worth it. At times I thought of it as a rom com but then the emotions would set in only to need tissues but finding the tissue box empty. This small-town romance has something for everyone who loves a cowboy romance with sexy cowboys, strong and sassy leading ladies. There is nothing he loves more than his ranch and he is quite content with his life. No need for a relationship they all know the score up front. When an unexpected, beautiful woman comes to town it’s her dirty and snarky mouth that sets him alight. Men are not in her wheelhouse she is done, done with all the losers. Done with a job that is going nowhere and done with her crazy mother she decides it’s time to leave and find some place new. The beautiful setting of Bluestone County seems just the right spot, only to find a sexy cowboy who grates on her last nerve. If only he had a pause button. You will fall in love with the characters as much as the setting.

Samantha has crafted a curious tale with What Actually Happened to Isaac Moore. Nothing can prepare you for this. Even Isaac himself cannot believe the world in which he finds himself. Is it even real? Is this what happens in the afterlife? Is it even the afterlife? It is certainly not what he thought it would be if that is the case. Imagine being thrown, quite literally into a crazy world that resembles story books with different worlds and the most unusual of creatures and beings. With clairvoyants and shapeshifters, rivers from childhood, Fairies and giant worms (gulp), dragons and fighting mean little old men, and so much more it will keep you engaged and wondering what poor Isaac has gotten himself involved in. This quirky adventure is full of heartache at times and is heart-warming in the next. There is tragedy yet there is humour. There is laughter to be had and the need for tissues in the next moment. Samantha certainly keeps you on your toes. Isaac has seen a lot in his life but this warped world is not reality. It couldn’t be, right? or is it? Does this the end of dinners with mashed potatoes?

Freedom Rings by Brenda Hardwick sees a continuation of Soraya’s story, but it is also the last book in the Trilogy. Brenda writes stories that are unique which makes them refreshing reads. Using her newfound powers, knowledge Soraya hopes for a better future. A future that is stronger and able to withstand the enemy. For without a united front all could be lost. Unfortunately, others believe they must be destroyed for them to unleash something that will change who you are. It is fast paced and has everything to hold you drawn to the story. With evil vs good, suspicion and hatred, desperation and lies, ambition and power. Where friends become foes and secrets are revealed. Where sacrifice and hope will be tested. Where the suspense is palpable. I like that we see much more into a person’s character and who they truly are as the story is told in multiple POV’s which is my preferred way of having a story told.

Leslie Georgeson writes a gripping dark and twisted tale that has become addicting. She writes compelling, and complex characters that will entice you to want a closer look. Beast is the fifth book and is a thrilling forbidden love secret crush romance story where the main character is anything but ordinary. His looks alone scare people that is where his name Beast came from. Annika has led a sheltered life as a Bratva princess. She is off limits as the Boss’s daughter, but he can’t help but love her. She is the one thing that is able to see past his scars and see him for who he truly is. This book in the Popov Bratva series is full of everything you could want to keep the reader enthralled. As with the other books in the series there is intrigue and suspense, passion and angst, lies and deceit, secrets and betrayal, danger and violence. It reminded me a bit of Beauty and the Beast in a twisted and dark Mafia way with a scarred and broken man, a forbidden princess and a monster of a stalker this instalment will have your heart breaking and melting at the same time. There are also some steamy moments that will fog up your glasses, moments when you are on the edge of your seat and moments when you will need the tissue box. Don’t miss this gripping tale.
I loved the first book in this series and equally fell in love with this the second book, Revenge Never Rests. I enjoy Laurie’s writing style and her compelling way of telling a story. Her first book Secrets Never Die where we were first introduced to Tallie was one of the best suspense stories I had read this year and this one is just the same. The interesting characters are well developed and believable and easy to like. Will Tallie be one of the hundreds who disappeared as she finds herself drawn into this conspiracy? This is an action-packed tale with drama, twists and turns that keep the suspense real. Add this to your TBR list and prepare to be wowed. No spoilers here. I really can’t say enough good things about this book except that you need to discover this gripping world that Laurie has created all by yourself.

4.5 stars There is a caution with this book so make sure to check it out before reading the book. The Daredevil is a friends-to-lovers contemporary romance tale where the suspense is often palpable. Nadia has done it again with secrets and lies, danger and hope, steam and passion there is something for all to enjoy. It is the second book in the WaterFyre Rising series and can be read as a standalone, but I encourage you to read book 1 first as it is such a good read. As the books title suggests the Daredevil is living life on the edge and the high and the thrill that goes with it. That is until he meets her. It is the one that could make him whole again? She is living a half-life and that life is shrouded with a monster that no one can banish. That is until she meets him. He may just be the one who can fight her monster, but can he keep her safe? This thrilling tale will have you on the edge of your seat as you embark on this journey of highs and lows I can’t wait for the next instalment.

Taming Beckett is a sports romance tale, and we all know that sports romances have bad boys at the helm and this one is no different.
Broken and down on his luck but of his own doing NHL bad boy Beckett Miller is on the verge of losing it all. Turning to his friend to see if she can help him turn it all around, he discovers much more than he thought he could.
I liked Beckett and Paige and the trials and tribulations they were going through. The chemistry there and They were good for each other, but I found that I could not fully immerse myself in their story. The pacing felt a little too slow at times and a little drawn out leaving me wanting more. Having said that I will be catching up on the next books in the series to see where GK takes it. There are nine books to the series, so it is bound to get exciting?
If you like contemporary sports romances, then give this book a try.

Snow in Love is my first foray into Libby’s romance tales. This is a sports enemies to lover’s romance set in an Aspen winter wonderland that should be read cuddled up in front of the fire with a nice hot drink or in my case stretched out in the sun for a few hours of escape.
Snow in Love follows 2 Paralympians who are good at what they do with plenty of passion but not so good when it comes to their personal lives. There is laughter, a little bit of steam but there is also lots of emotions due to their pasts and coming to grips with it. The question is can they move on and open their hearts to what could be? To find out you will have to read it to find out.
There is a lot of push and pull to make the journey interesting to say the least.

Reckless Heart is one of my all-time favourite stories by Jane. I really enjoy her writing. This engaging emotional tale has all the feels. It is a short story that is a sweet second chance romance. I read the book in one sitting as the story just called to me and the characters were wonderful likeable and well developed. It has everything to delight the sense and keep the pages turning. With high emotions, angst, steam, misunderstandings, pain and hurt are just some of what you get. My only wish once again is that it was longer.
Mary is ready to embrace her new life as a sexy single woman and has her sights set on a certain someone. However, it may be more difficult than she thought.
Brad returns for his sister’s wedding and has mixed emotions seeing his lost crush. Does he have it in him to relive the pain from the past and move forward?
You will have to read this beautiful tale to see what happens. A perfect present for someone for Christmas.

Talk about coming in from the back of the pack, that’s exactly what I have done with this series. I wasn’t aware that this was the fifth book in the series. I am going back to the beginning though because I really enjoyed this one.
There is a bit of humour and a few twists in this intriguing murder mystery and let’s not forget thriller. Where our tough, no nonsense and straight shooter PI Jorja Knight is set on solving the mystery but there is more going on than meets the eye and that something is murder, although it may not be that simple. Is it a dangerous hidden plot or something otherworldly like a curse?
If you like thrilling murder mysteries, then Alice’s Knight in the Museum is just one of the books in this series that should satisfy your thirst.

Return to Gallanvaig takes up two years after the first book in this trilogy A Quirk of Destiny and things have only gotten worse. It is a story set in a dystopian world which has gone mad and no longer resembles the world as we know it. It is a world in ruin. The sad thing is that it could well be a reality to come to fruition.
This dark and twisted tale has good pitted against evil. Is one necessarily better than the other? There are global conspiracies, mortal danger, deadly creatures, inevitable sickness and death, zombies and mutants with supernatural powers.
A post-apocalyptic tale like you have not seen before where science fiction meets real science.
How can those behind this terrible conspiracy and bringing destruction to the world be stopped?
Just as the first book did the ending is a bit of a cliff-hanger.
If you like post-apocalyptic sci fi thrillers, why not grab this trilogy and get stuck in.
I wonder how Catherine will bring the story to a close in the next book.

Amaleigha is full of wonderful and colourful drawings that really brighten the story. It is a book aged for kids 4 – 7 who will be delighted as they go on this adventure with Amaleigha.
Amaleigha is one clever girl and has a passion that she wants to share it with others. There is a message here and it is not just for kids. Adults could use it too.
I read this story to my grandbabies, 5 and 3 ½ and they enjoyed it so much I had to reread it to them several times. It is a great idea for birthday or Christmas presents for your kids or grandbabies.
Jan has proven it is never too late to share your passion.

I enjoy a good Rom Com and that is what we get when we go on this journey where the She-grinch doesn’t believe in love and the Love Guru wants a chance to prove it. This hilarious and steamy romance tale will have you needing a good stiff drink. It will also have you laughing at their antics, banter and sassiness.
This is my first time reading anything by Susan, but it will not be my last because it is such a fun read to get lost in for a few hours.
Who doesn’t love some sun, sand, surf, sexy and steamy?
