An enjoyable and heartwarming Christmas romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Anne Eicher loves Christmas and the joy of the season, she loves the baking, the decorating and all the holiday festivities. Anne is worried about taking another chance at love, but she hadn’t planned on spending yet another Christmas alone. Which is why she decides to take a chance when she receives a mysterious letter from a secret admirer. Andy Stoltzfus knows that his heart craves Anne, she’s genuine, faithful and true, unlike her sister who left him for another man. Taking a second chance at love he makes a plan to win both Anne’s heart and her hand, but unfortunately the plan backfires! Whispered Surrender (Sinful Duets Book 1) by Via Mari – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Whispered Surrender (Sinful Duets #1)Whispered Surrender by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A dark mafia/bratva romance which had me captivated throughout. I loved the fact that this was two books in one as it meant I could ‘binge read’ them! Book one tells Jay and Sasha’s story, Jay protects people for a living but it’s just a job, until he meets Sasha. When she ends up on the wrong side of the mafia Jay is determined to keep her safe. Then claim her even if it means going up against one of the most notorious crime families. Book two is Sasha’s twin sister Marenah and Matt’s story. Matt comes across Marenah whilst on an undercover assignment, but as the granddaughter of the head of the Russian Bratva she’s not exactly who she appears to be. However, Matt is one of the most feared and ruthless protectors in the business and is determined to claim, her even if she is an off-limits mafia princess. I did fall in love with both Sasha and Marenah, two fearless women and Jay and Matt the men who will do anything to protect them. The storylines and plot in both stories kept me gripped, and the characters and settings were brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative. The fiery and passionate chemistry between the couples really came across, and I loved how their relationships developed throughout the stories. An enjoyable and engaging read, where each story and couple have a guaranteed HEA!

Be True with Me (Be with Me Series) by CA Miconi – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Be True with Me (Be with Me, #3)Be True with Me by C.A. Miconi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another heartwarming romance in this enjoyable series. This engaging small town, second chance romance had me captivated throughout. Social worker Lauren and Cop Jake meet again after ten years when they are assigned to the same case, and in order to give two children the Christmas they deserve, must work together. Lauren was a foster home child herself and learnt the hard way that not everyone is who they appear to be. However, a special lady took her in and showed her how to trust again and now she wants to be that person for other children. Unfortunately, Lauren’s first love also then betrayed her which left her devastated. Jake also learnt not to trust everyone when a classmate not only betrayed his trust but violated it when he publicly shared something private. Lauren and Jake need to be able to forget the past and rebuild trust between them if they are to give love a second chance. The main characters are both likeable and relatable and their chemistry really came across in the narrative and led to some steamy scenes. I also liked how their relationship developed throughout the story. I felt invested in Lauren and Jake’s second chance at love and was cheering them on hoping they would get their HEA.

Orenda (The Latitude Series Book 2)Orenda by T.S. Simons
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and gripping dystopian romance which continues the ‘Latitude’ series of novels. Once again, I was back with Caitlin and her husband Gio who were now traveling to Canada, to take on new roles as ambassadors for the ACC. Caitlin is a natural leader and is respected by her people, she is bridging the gap between the communities and offering them new opportunities. However, as Caitlin and Gio build a life for their new family, an old enemy return’s which threatens their security. As loyalties are challenged and a betrayal leads to tragedy, Caitlin is forced to draw on her ‘Orenda’ before it threatens to destroy them both. “Orenda is a First Nations Iroquois belief that all natural objects and people possess a mystical energy”. This force allows Caitlin to effect change in the world and manifest transformations. As usual I was transported to the wonderfully detailed dystopian world which is brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative. I was fully immersed in the storyline and engaged with the main characters, Caitlin and Gio. I personally think this series of books need to be read in order. Master of the Abyss (Painted Souls, #3)Master of the Abyss by Rob Samborn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a gripping epic conclusion to this series, and I have been kept captivated from book one. Once again, I was hooked throughout with this historical thriller, and it was a real page turner. It was nice being back with old friends, Julia and husband Nick, who in this story remains imprisoned in eternal purgatory. Therefore, it is up to Julia and her friends to stop Salvatore della Porta from achieving his plan of global supremacy through ‘Veritism’. They aim to save millions of souls from a similar fate as Nick’s. However, as Julia and her team travel across Europe heading to Asia and then finally back to Venice they are being tracked by della Porta’s men. They are seeking the age-old journal with the power to either help della Porta to succeed or stop him for good. To free the souls, including Nick’s they need to find an ancient relic that can destroy the ‘Sun Crystal’. In a race against time Julia and her team only have one last chance to liberate the imprisoned souls, save her husband, and stop della Porta from gaining endless power. This was a real fast paced story with an action-packed storyline, and great characters who literally crossed the globe. As usual the author brought the multiple settings vividly to life, making me feel completely immersed in the story. Having read the whole series now I felt very engaged with the characters, especially Nick and Julia O’Connor. This whole series has had me on the edge of my seat, unable to put the books down. I highly recommend reading this series, but I personally think it is one which you do need to read in order.

Unexpected by Laylah Abrams – Review by Jennifer Gordon

UnexpectedUnexpected by Laylah Abrams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an enjoyable and engaging romance with a modern fairytale feel to it which kept me happily turning the pages. Claire Morgan is a Celebutante who plays the air-headed-heiress that the gossip sites expect, to perfection. People are much more interested in her designer gowns and love life, then they are about her degrees in business and computer science. Nick is a struggling artist who works as a waiter and who’s worrying that his grad school scholarship is in jeopardy, due to his creative slump. Claire and Nick meet when Claire and her friends arrive at the restaurant where Nick works, at closing time. The pair discover they have a lot in common and they start what they thought, would be a meaningless fling. Nick spurs Claire towards the tech career she’s always wanted and she inspires his art. However, they are both too good at putting on an act and at hiding their growing feelings, and will need to trust in one another if there relationship is to develop and last. I loved the chemistry between Nick and Claire, and how their relationship developed throughout the story. The storyline flowed well and I found this to be a heartwarming and entertaining romance.

Finding Your Heart: A Journal for Discovering Your HeartFinding Your Heart: A Journal for Discovering Your Heart by Nadia Han
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated self-help journal which will help you reconnect with your own heart. “The heart is a flower. Let it bloom.”, the blurb says this journal will help you clear the clutter that over time our hearts have collected, in order to enjoy life again, and it does. The creative and unique prompts along with the activities help you to make peace with your past. Whilst the positive affirmations help keep you in the present, and look forward to and work towards a brighter future. This journal really does help you “unfurl the happy petals within your heart”, and I was definitely taken on an inspirational and liberating journey, “to self-love, self-worth, and self-healing”. The book it’s self is lovely and I enjoyed picking it up each day and journaling in it. I found the activities thought provoking and I particularly liked reading the affirmations. Sea of Demons (Blood and Sand Book 5) by Heidi Stark – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Sea of Demons: A Dark Enemies to Lovers Mafia RomanceSea of Demons: A Dark Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance by Heidi Stark
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a dark enemies to lovers mafia romance which had me gripped throughout. Unfortunately I hadn’t read the previous books in this series, and I wish I had because the storyline appears to continue and I did feel I was missing out on the characters back stories as well. However, I did find this reverse harem dark romance entertaining and engaging, and I quickly got into the story. Devon is now with the four men of her dreams but is aware that the threat is getting closer, and having lost once he will be back with a vengeance, so the plan is to hunt him down first. Angel is glad her psycho stalker is gone but now there is an even bigger threat to their existence, but they have one chance to take him down. This definitely contains potential triggers for some as it is a particularly graphic dark romance. The storyline was full of drama and suspense and plenty of plot twists, whilst the setting and characters were brought to life through the descriptive narrative. I never felt completely immersed in the story but that was due to not having read the previous books in the series, which I would personally recommend doing.

An entertaining and engaging contemporary romance which had me captivated throughout. This heartwarming romance features a mysterious letter, a secret history shared and a loveable rescued mutt. Both Wynter and Caleb have given up on love but that was before they had met each other. Wynter used to think of herself as a female Robin Hood, as a professional fundraiser working for nonprofits she enjoyed schmoozing with wealthy people, in order to talk them into donating their money to good causes. However, having fallen for a charming liar both her heart and her career were shattered, and she’s now sworn off all men. Meanwhile, Ex-Navy SEAL Caleb is fine with one night stands but he’s not looking for love. Following his last military tour, he feels that parts of him are dead, including his heart and he’s done with trying to be anyones hero. So he now makes big money selling high priced yachts and having easy flings with women. Then Wynter and Caleb meet and suddenly love is an option after all. Both Caleb and Wynter are likeable and relatable characters and I loved their developing relationship throughout the story. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone story.

Reckless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book 4) by KG Fletcher – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Reckless Love: A Small Town Slow-Burn Forbidden Love Romance (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book #4)Reckless Love: A Small Town Slow-Burn Forbidden Love Romance by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another enjoyable, engaging and heartwarming romance set in the small town of Langston Falls. I love being back with the Bennett family, and I really felt for Becky Bennett who has four very fiercely protective older brothers. I loved this slow burn, forbidden love story between YouTube sensation Becky who’s cooking show, The Farmer’s Daughter is a big hit, and lumberjack Glen. For Becky although she loves being an online success and the queen of Bennett Farms, she still daydreams about working in the garden of her own house wearing her big floppy hats and overalls. Glen and Becky’s family do not get on, not surprising after Glen nearly killed one of her brothers, and she never expected to develop feelings for him but now that he’s sober, he’s more humble and is easy to talk. When their secret pining is exposed and knowing her family will never approve Becky leaves town, followed by Glen. The two frenemies can’t fight their feelings any longer which results in a steamy and passionate night together, however, as their relationship develops a dark secret is revealed. As usual the descriptive narrative brought both the small town setting and the characters vividly to life, which made me feel fully immersed in the story. The chemistry between Becky and Glen sizzled off the page and I liked how their forbidden romance developed throughout the book. I was hooked from start to finish and the promised HEA!

The Christmas EscapeThe Christmas Escape by Belinda Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging romantic comedy with added Christmas magic! Lizzie already hates Christmas and then she loses both her job and her apartment two weeks before the holiday. So when her best friend Shona’s boyfriend cheats on her and leaves her with a non-refundable ticket to Australia, Lizzie decides to spend her redundancy payout and buy the ticket. Lizzie heads off to Australia with plans of forgetting Christmas, however she soon discovers that even in beachside Sydney the festive spirit is alive. Lizzie keeps bumping into Jaz, a surfer guy who she finds attractive and is even tempted to except his invite to Christmas lunch. However, Jaz is a single father with a lot of baggage and she’s only looking for a holiday romance, isn’t she?! No spoilers, I recommend picking up the book and reading this heartwarming and fun holiday romance, which will put you in the Christmas spirit.
