The Crown of Stones: Magic-Price by C. L. Schneider – Review by Jessica Phillips

Magic-Price (The Crown of Stones, #1)Magic-Price by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this one. Between the characters, the use of magic and the world in which it transported me to… I can’t decide what I enjoyed more.
But I am leaning more toward the amazing world building of this story… it felt real.
Ian Troy, a Shinree, addicted to his magic he is born to fight in a longstanding war, and goes against orders and uses the Crown of Stone to end the war. It comes with a huge price tag and destroyed lives.
He casts himself into exile for 10 years and even though he refrains from using magic, he turns to wine to help with that addiction.
I enjoyed his character and his development over the course of the book. Excided to get book 2 to continue with this tale.

Conveniently Yours (Titans Of Manhattan BOOK 1) by Anise Storm – Review by Jessica Phillips

Conveniently Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #1)Conveniently Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Conveniently Yours is the first book in the Titans of Manhattan series and it was so good! Caspian was not my favorite at the start of this book… but he definitely started to grow on me with each passing chapter.

Caspian is a successful business man, and loves the life he lives. He’s worked hard for what he has and now it’s threatened and he could loose it all. His dying uncle tells him that if he wants to keep the company he’s running then he needs to get married and stay married for a year and a day.
Caspian, thinks this is nuts! But maybe, he can find someone who will agree to a marriage of convenience.

Paisley is a struggling Artist, trying her best to keep her head above water. With her mom in a coma and medical bills piling up, she’s running out money and hope. Its one bad thing happening after another and she’s out of ideas to keep all the bills paid and her mom taken care of.

After bumping into each other, and a brief catch up over coffee, Caspian makes Paisley an offer that will help them both! They both feel the physical attraction they have for the other, but will that complicate things? Or just make it more interesting? I know I was entertained 🙂

Red's Peril Part 1: The Making of an MC Prez (Satan's Devils MC Vegas #1)Red’s Peril Part 1: The Making of an MC Prez by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Red’s Peril Part 1: The making of an MC Prez (Satan’s Devils MC Vegas Chapter) by Manda Mellett is a really good read! This is an MC romance, with mystery, danger, drama and more.
In this story, we follow Red, who is mentioned in previous books of the Satan’s Devils MC series.
Red, in search of warmer weather to ride his Harley year round, is on a mission of self discovery. He meets a waitress, at a café he’s stopped at and one thing leads to another and well, you know… things happen. He hasn’t always had it easy and climbed his way to the top to become the Prez of the Satan’s Devils Vegas Chapter.
But is there more? Is this all there is for him? The book did end in a cliffhanger and I’m excided to read Part 2 to see how things play out!

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Jessica Phillips

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Oath is the second book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley, and a great continuation of this story! I do recommend reading book one ‘No Way Out’ first, since the characters are intermingled in both books.
This story follows Enzo and Sophia, childhood friends.
Enzo, Chicago Mafia underboss, promised to protect Sophia at all cost. Even if it means that they can’t be together like he wants to be. His priority is to keep her alive.
Sophia is an up and coming fashion designer, who is absolutely in love with Enzo and would do any thing for him.
There are so many secrets and so many obstacles keeping them apart. This story has suspense and drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat turning the pages.

Tenacious (Billionaire Bodyguards # 6)Tenacious by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tenacious is the sixth book in this titillating Billionaire Bodyguards series by Via Mari. And it did not disappoint.
Nick is a part of an elite security team and definitely knows how to get what he wants.
Allie is a charge nurse and doesn’t have time or the want for a relationship.
When they are around each other, they can’t hide the feelings that surface.
I love how Nick’s dominance is just what Allie needs to start to trust and maybe they’ll be able to move past the attraction to what they really want… each other!

Shadows of Doubt (A Crawford Mystery) by Merissa Racine – Review by Jessica Phillips

Shadows of Doubt (A Crawford Mystery)Shadows of Doubt by Merissa Racine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shadows of Doubt is the second book in the Crawford Mystery series by Merissa Racine. This is my first read by this author and I read the series out of order. Personally, I think they can be read as a stand alone but recommend reading them in order.
Lauren Besoner is a court reporter, in serious need of some money. So she agrees to take a job for her ex-husband. In this case, a young pizza delivery driver is accused of murdering an elderly lady.
Lauren doesn’t buy it, and started seeing a few inconsistencies. But is she willing to loose her job to speak up? Will she be able to prove this young man’s innocence before it’s too late?
This story is a suspenseful mystery, that will keep you guessing. Not everything is as it seems.

Kingdom of Embers (Kingdom Journals Book 1) by Tricia Copeland – Review by Jessica Phillips

Kingdom of Embers (Kingdom Journals #1)Kingdom of Embers by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kingdom of Embers is book one in the Kingdom Journals series by Tricia Copeland. I couldn’t put this one down. This is my first read by this author and I was impressed!
I think for me, it was the combination of fantasy, reality and suspense that kept me turning the pages. I was being drawn into this world that had me thinking/feeling it was real.

Alena is half witch – half vampire, and that is a no go. So of course she has to pretend to be something that she’s not, human. I really enjoyed her character. She’s a good kid but she’s got a lot of questions that are going unanswered, like who’s her dad and where is he? And she wants to get to the bottom of it regardless of what her mom says and the danger it could cause.
When she runs into her childhood imaginary friend, she realizes he wasn’t imaginary after all.
They get together to see if they can solve the mystery of how something like this could be possible.
The book does end in a cliffhanger, so now I have to get the rest of the books in this series.

Fool Me Twice by Gledé Browne Kabongo – Review by Jessica Phillips

Fool Me TwiceFool Me Twice by Glede Browne Kabongo
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Fool Me Twice by Glede Browne Kabongo is a suspenseful thriller. There are secrets everywhere.
Overall it was a good story. I really did enjoy it! But I did notice that when changing POV’s it was first person for Shelby, but third person for the rest of the characters. I’m not sure I liked that, but maybe it’s just a personal preference.
Shelby is a leading scientist in the field of bioinformatics, she is also a wife and mother of 2… but she has some major secrets that she is keeping from everyone. She gets pulled over for a busted taillight and her life turns upside down. She is arrested for the murder of her physical therapist.
There is someone out there trying to frame her for murder and destroy the life she has built. Can she stop it before it’s too late?

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Jessica Phillips

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, #1)No Way Out by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Way Out is book 1 of the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley. I am a sucker for a good mafia romance and I am also a sucker for a great book by Amy McKinley. And WOW does she kick this series off right!

Liliana is born into this mafia lifestyle and knows that something is going on with her dad. He’s becoming more agitated and always angry. One thing that Liliana knows is that it somehow includes her. And not in a good way. The only problem is will she be able to find out what he’s up to in time to save herself?

Max (undercover as Matt) is working to take down the people who took what rightfully belongs to him. Even though Liliana is a part of the family that he’s going after, he swears to protect her.

I love the character of Liliana. She’s strong and knows that she has to protect herself from the monsters that surround her. And I loved reading about the relationship between her and Max. What a great story!

The Bow: A Fated Mates Greek Myth Paranormal Romance (Her Three Immortals Book 3)The Bow: A Fated Mates Greek Myth Paranormal Romance by Hazel Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Bow is book 3 in Hazel Storm’s Her Three Immortals series. I am absolutely in love with this series.
Like previously stated, this should be read in order to get the most out of the series. Personally, I would not recommend reading it as a stand alone.

Vanessa is in love with Gray and Gray loves Vanessa. Because of this love, Gray gave in on his vow of abstinence and boy did this upset Gray’s mom. Vanessa have been taken to run an errand for Gray’s mom and have locked down the underworld to prevent Gray from leaving to help Vanessa.

Vanessa does happen to run into Raef and Aroz on her errand and she was able to make use of that time with the both of them. Raef is still madly in love with Vanessa and was very happy to be able to see her and spend what little time he had with her. Aroz had other plans for her and decided to take actions of his own.
The only problem now is to try to decide is Aroz is on her side or not. Will Gray or Raef find her in time?

Code Name: Vulture: Dark Vampire Romance (The Order of the Condor Series Book 1)Code Name: Vulture: Dark Vampire Romance by Maya Daniels
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Code Name: Vulture is a Dark Vampire Romance by Maya Daniels & Sylvia Black. This is my first book by Maya and Sylvia but I really enjoyed it.

Danielle is a curator of a museum looking forward to getting her hands on an ancient artifact. But little does she know, she’s not the only one who wants this artifact.
Vulture is a purebred vampire. He has a job to do, and that job is Danielle. He takes a contract to take her, but boy oh boy, he didn’t expect her to be so head strong.

I would personally recommend you check trigger warnings before picking this one up. But if you enjoy Dark Vampire Romances – you’re gonna want to give this one a shot!

Forbidden Mate (The Shadow Chronicles Book 2) by CR Robertson – Review by Jessica Phillips

Forbidden MateForbidden Mate by C.R. Robertson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Forbidden Mate is book 2 of The Shadow Chronicles by CR Robertson is so good! I really enjoyed the continuation of Levi & Tasha’s story even more so than the first. It does continue right where the first book left off, so personally I would recommend reading them in order to make sure you get the full story.
I want so badly to go into detail but I don’t want to give spoilers!
There is so much going on in this story but in a good way. It is action packed with an incredible story line. Levi and Tasha are constantly battling one obstacle after another to be together. I found myself groaning thinking “How are they going to get through this one?”. I love the world that you get immersed in, and how incredible the character development was in this one. If you’re into Fantasy, this is one that I would highly recommend you read.

THE GOD (HER THREE IMMORTALS BOOK 2) by HAZEL STORM – Review by Jessica Phillips

The God (Her Three Immortals, #2)The God by Hazel Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The God is book 2 in Hazel Storm’s Her Three Immortals series. I loved book 1 and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book 2.
Vanessa is back and giving Grey a run for his money! There is so much going on but I loved diving into the continuation of this story.

After her appearance in the underworld, Grey leaves her alone in his Penthouse telling her that she doesn’t belong there. But she doesn’t have anywhere else to go.
Grey is doing what he can to keep her at arms length. He knows that if he lets himself get to close his vow to abstain will not last.

My heart breaks for the situation that Raef is in, missing the girl that he loves.
I want to throttle Grey for being so rude. And I haven’t come to a firm conclusion yet for how I feel about Aroz.
What I do know, is that Vanessa is coming out of her cocoon, if you will, and is amazing.
Who will feel threatened and how will they react?

FURY OF CONVICTION (The Dragonfury Series Book 2) by Coreene Callahan – Review by Jessica Phillips

Fury of Conviction (Dragonfury Short Story Collection, #2)Fury of Conviction by Coreene Callahan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I need Book 3 Now!
Fury of Conviction by Coreen Callahan is book 2 in the “Villains” of the Dragonfury series.
Although part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone.
This is my first dragon shifter book and boy am I happy I started with one by Coreen Callahan!

This is a short story and can be read in just a couple hours. I really enjoyed the relationship between Natalie and Hamersveld.
Hamersveld is working though his own struggles, trying to decide how or if he’s going to defy the rules and help Natalie.
Being held captive, Natalie is just looking for a way out period! Little does she know; she has someone on her side to help her with that. But how far will she go?

Ending on a cliff with a steep edge, I am not so patiently waiting for the next installment of this story! I need to know!!! But in the meantime, I guess I can keep myself busy with her other books 🙂

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Forsaken: Wraith was my first book by Martin Ferguson and I was very impressed!
The story really came alive for me and I found myself excited to see what would happen next.

Alena (Slayer), having lost her family and home at a young age, is raised and trained by the Guild.
Training to be either Savior, Slayer, Assassin or Thief, Alena passed her trial earning herself a position in the Guild as Slayer.
Given her first assignment, she rounds up a team of unlikely misfits. They are faced with danger and evils. I don’t know how you would be able to resist getting sucked into the story!

This book was a quick read and I am so happy that I was able to experience it! It was a page turner for me and now I impatiently wait for book 2!

Sex on Fire (Naughty Neighbor Book 1) by Ashley Bostock – Review by Jessica Phillips

Sex on Fire: A Quickie Read (Naughty Neighbor Book 1)Sex on Fire: A Quickie Read by Ashley Bostock
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sex on Fire: A Quickie Read (Naughty Neighbor Book 1) by Ashley Bostock does live up to its name.
It is a very quick read.

Poppy is very shy and Turner is her very attractive neighbor. She keeps an eye on his comings and goings but isn’t brave enough to make the first move. Turner only has eyes for Poppy and wants to make her see that he only wants her. But some embarrassments are hard to overcome. Like setting a fence on fire.

I thought it was a cute, fun read.
Personally, I would have liked a little more character development, but for a very short read, it was well written.

Great Read!
Least Likely Suspect: Revenge is my first read by Cooper McKenzie and I was very pleasantly surprised! I wasn’t sure what to expect but I am so happy that I decided to get out of my comfort zone for this one!

Samantha has been through so much, and even thought I can’t relate on the age part, I can relate to the grief of losing someone you love.
After the tragic loss of her son Thomas, Samantha wants revenge.

Micha is one of her son’s best friends and he wants to help her.
But is this something Samantha can do?

Although it is a short read, there is so much detail packed into this amazingly told story.
It is definitely worth the read!

Remember My Name (Remember My Name Series Book 1) by Laurencia Hoffman – Review by Jessica Phillips

Remember My Name (Remember My Name #1)Remember My Name by Laurencia Hoffman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Remember My Name by Laurencia Hoffman is a MM suspenseful romance that keeps you reading.
Shane has secrets that he does not want to share, so he does what he can to keep the people he cares about at arm’s length. He is very sarcastic with a less than desirable attitude that makes people question his motives.

Callan is Shane’s first love, and after the heartbreak of Callan walking away, they are back in each other’s lives. Callen sees past Shane’s rough exterior and wants to know the truth of what made Shane the way he is.

Sometimes, it is best to leave things alone. The more you dig the more lives could be in danger.

This was a good read and I recommend you give it a read too! I will be starting on Book 2 soon!

Forged by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops, book 3) by Amy McKinley – Review by Jessica Phillips

Forged by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops, #3)Forged by Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Forged by Secrets is book three in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley.
You could read this as a standalone, but personally it is best read in order.
I enjoyed reading this story with all its twists and turns. I love how we get to know the characters and how the rest of this story plays out.

All three books flow together nicely and will keep you reading. Tyler & Malina’s story is my favorite of the three. We get flashbacks of Malina’s past and there are secrets that she does not want anyone to know about.
She is an analyst for the Navy SEALS and is accused of treason and is now on the run. She needs help to clear her name and reveal who the real mole is. There is only one person she can turn to.
Tyler, the youngest Hale brothers, and the only brother that is still a Navy SEAL, will do whatever it takes to keep Malina safe and help clear her name.

Amy McKinley did an amazing job pulling me into the story and keeping me there.
If you enjoy reading romantic suspense filled with action and adventure, I highly recommend this book.

Twisted Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops #1)Twisted Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Twisted Secrets is book 1 of the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley. This is an action packed, suspenseful romance that keeps you interested is what is going to happen next!

Riley is in grad school working at the local coffee shop. In a relationship that is turning bad, she starts thinking the past is repeating itself. The guy she thought she wanted, isn’t really who he says he is.
Xander is a Navy SEAL and is on forced leave. He’s just recovering from an injury after a failed mission and a breakup.

He meets Riley and he can’t help but want to be near her. Can’t keep his mind off of her. He knows that he wants to give a relationship a try, but will she?
I like the way that the secondary characters are introduced and weave their own story giving you little hints of what’s to come. There are several little mysteries going on all at once and there is always something lurking around the corner, but will they be ready for them?

Sons of Sindicato (Sons of Sindicato ) by Cam Johns & Sonya Jesus – Review by Jessica Phillips

Sons of Sindicato (Sons of Sindicato #0)Sons of Sindicato by Cam Johns
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this novella! Sons of Sindicato by Sonya Jesus & Cam Johns is a captivating suspense filled novella to start off the Sons of Sindicato series and I couldn’t help but fall in love with Braelynn and Seth!

Braelynn is a successful criminal defense attorney who put everything she has into her career. And it could all be lost in a blink of an eye. Not only is she having a secret affair with a client but she just committed murder. Surely that would get you disbarred.

Seth is the son of the leader of the Sindicato. He finds himself needing a good attorney to help get him out of the trouble he was in and man did she do her job! But from the beginning, Braelynn had his attention and he’s not sure that’s a great idea considering how his family fells about it. But he’s willing to do anything for her. He would even help cover up a murder. Will he go as far as walking away from his family?

This was an amazing story. Yes, I do wish it would have really gone into their story more but wow did it pack a punch! I will be adding Sonya & Cam as my list of “must-read” authors!

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Series Book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Jessica Phillips

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops, #2)Bound by Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bound by Secrets by Amy McKinley is the second book of the Deadly Isles Special Ops Series.
Personally I wouldn’t read it as a standalone mainly because the previous book “Twisted Secrets” did have some mystery that hasn’t been solved yet and continues in this book.

Kayla Kane fled her abusive relationship and needs a place to hide out until things smooth over.
Jaxson Hale is a former Navy SEAL and Kayla’s brother’s best friend.

Their story is a second chance romance. They have to overcome their past and get their secrets out in the open if they are ever going to have a shot at being together.
Kayla, haunted by her brothers tragic death years before, knows there is more to the story than what she was told. Jaxson, bound by a promise, knows that he’s going to have to break it if he’s ever going to get his second chance with Kayla.

I am enjoying this series. I liked how their story is really just a continuation from their childhood, and you get bits and pieces of that as you read through.

Brink of Denial (Sons of Sindicato #1)Brink of Denial by Cam Johns
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh My Goodness!! I think I’m obsessed!
Brink of Denial: A Dark Mafia Romance by Sonya Jesus & Cam Johns is a must read!

Mila had a vision and she would not be swayed, even if it meant walking away from family and love. So she did just that… she walked away. Now, after 11 years, she finds herself wanting what she walked away from.

Dane had his own vision, and it was all about family (well, all about Mila) & becoming the next boss for the Sons of Sindicato. But Mila ripped most of that away when she left him, heartbroken and angry. 11 years later, his hate for Mila grows.

With Mila back in town, things get intense, secrets come out and danger is lurking.
Will they be able to get past the heartache and start fresh? Or will it be too much for them to bear?

This is a must read! To be a part of this family and their story… what an amazing job of pulling you in and captivating you to stay. Sonya & Cam do an amazing job at bringing the characters to life and makes you want to get to know them better. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

The DonThe Don by Hazel Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Don, book 1 of Her Three Immortals series by Hazel Storm was a quick read but left me wanting more!
I was not ready for it to end!! I love the multiple point of views from several of the characters.

Vanessa is a hairdresser and loves being able to bring out the inner beauty of her clients. It is what she’s good at. But it could also mean competition to others in the beauty industry.
Grey is The Don of the Underworld and is in town on business. Moving in across the street from Vanessa is just a perk.
Raef is Grey’s half-brother, a very sexy billionaire that is proving to Vanessa that not all financially successful men are A-holes, or are they?

Vanessa has some issues in her home life and just as these interesting men walk into her life her work life starts to suffer as well.
Can they help her? Is she willing to pay the price?

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

This is a powerful post-apocalyptic story full of adventure and suspense.
The mix of Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Action & Supernatural was beautifully written.

Ransom, his girlfriend Erika and a team of elite soldiers are on a mission to find a cyberterrorist called The Black Queen and stop her from doing something terrible, like literally unleashing hell on earth. Of course they are going to do what they can to stop her!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sexy Drug is the first book in the Losing My Heart series by Melody Calder.
I was so upset when I went to the next page, just to realize it was over.
I found myself entranced in this story, I wasn’t ready for it to end.… I needed more.

Katie is the daughter of a dangerous drug lord and can have anything and everything she wants. Ramone is one of the Bosses trusted men.
They can’t stand each other. He sees a spoiled brat and she sees a ruthless man like her father. When Ramone gets put in charge of her safety and is forced to be with her 24/7, sparks will fly.
Will they be able to look past each other’s flaws and be friends?
Or will the demand of what is expected of them be too much?

It seems like everyone has secrets and no one can be trusted.

My heart goes out to Katie and all that she is going through.
I am appalled by her father and everything he is doing and I hope that he’s not going to get away with it.

I am so ready to see what happens next!
This is a great start to a series that is sure to be one of my favorites!
