Flirty Dancing: A Spicy Romantic Comedy About the Afterlife (The Green Room Chronicles Book 3) by J.D. Frettier – Review by Jessica Ranslow

Although this could easily be read as a stand alone, to enjoy the most fun and laughter from this novella, I suggest reading the series. Although most people have probably wondered if they will go to heaven or hell when they die, no one considers a third option. That is exactly what the Green Room is. In book three, we meet Kitty Eatin in the after-life. As her new friends fill her in on some of the important things to know in this purgatory like revenge jobs, champagne with absinthe and Dr. Draper, Kitty is determined to reconnect with the love of her life with the help of a ghostologist, scientist, and the technology in The Green Room.

Linda Gets Her Groove Thing: A Spicy Romantic Comedy About the Afterlife (The Green Room Chronicles Book 2) by J.D. Frettier – Review by Jessica Ranslow

Linda Gets her Groove Thing (The Green Room Chronicles #2)Linda Gets her Groove Thing by J.D. Frettier – Review by: Jessica Ranslow                               My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After reading the first book in this series, I found myself thinking back to the story and giggling to myself. Book two did not disappoint in giving me more chuckle worthy material. When Linda finds herself in The Green Room, she is greeted by Dee and Bonnie, the two main characters from book one. While waiting to go to body sculpting, Linda shares her story with Dee and Bonnie about how her ex husband left her in financial ruins and had an affair before his death. With a little help from Edwina and the brilliant Dr. Draper, Linda is given an opportunity to introduce her ex husband to Karma with front row seats to the show.

J.D. Frettier has created a great series that is sure to put a smile on your face, make you laugh out loud as you read, and will leave you hoping that a Green Room exists.

North to Nara (Crimson Sash Book 1) by Amanda Marin – Review by Jessica Ranslow

Since discovering dystopian themed story lines, I have read several. Although I love the idea of seeing how the author sees a potential future world or society, I don’t always find that the story holds up to my hopes or expectations. Amanda Marin did not disappoint in how she described and painted the literary picture of a society after the “Expulsions”.

Neve Hall admires the work of the civil servants, but she respects and admires the Sufferers the most. These are the servants who are chosen to take on all of the pain, suffering, anxiety, or fears of the others. When Neve’s assigned Sufferer is suddenly retired, Neve unintentionally witnesses the exchange and is bothered by the things she is beginning to see around the Nation. Each person is anonymously assigned a sufferer so when Neve then accidentally learns that her new Sufferer is Micah Ward, the Sufferer who she has seen showing a level of compassion that is unusual even for the empathetic servants, she is torn between admitting that the anonymity has been compromised and wanting to have an opportunity to be close to Micah.

As Neve and Micah grow closer, Neve becomes desperate to change Micah’s inevitable fate, but at what cost? How far with Neve go to protect Micah and fight for love?

This book grabbed me from the beginning and kept the pages turning long after I should have turned out the lights.

Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine: A Spicy Romantic Comedy About the Afterlife (The Green Room Chronicles Book 1) by JD Frettier Review by Jessica Ranslow

In this short novel, J.D. Frettier introduces us to Bonnie and Peter who met in 1969 at Woodstock. Their lives were filled with free love and a great sex life. When Bonnie dies unexpectedly, she finds herself somewhere between Heaven and Hell called The Green Room. Bonnie is desperate to find a way to contact her grieving husband before their adult children begin going through her personal items. Although their son would not be phased, their up-tight daughter would be horrified if she found Bonnie and Peter’s stash of sex toys. Can she figure out how to contact Peter in time, and if she learns how to communicate with him, what else can she do?

This was a light hearted and quick read that made me chuckle out loud. I’ll admit that I am not normally a huge fan of short novels like this, but J.D. Frettier grabbed my attention and left me anxious to read more. I cannot wait to sit down with book 2!

Brian Carrington has made it his priority to keep Jenny Torzial safe. That proves to be a full time job with the mafia an ever present danger and the legal system determined to convict Jenny for the murder of her ex boyfriend. While Brian stays busy fighting the external forces that threaten her, Jenny continues to battle her internal demons. Allowing Brian to dominate Jenny in the bedroom is exactly what Jenny had always wanted, but she maintained a level of control over her life outside of the bedroom. Can Brian continue to keep Jenny safe without Jenny feeling like she’s lost control of every aspect of her life? Will Jenny ever get to live her life without looking over her shoulder and wondering what, or who, will come for her next?
Via Mari does not disappoint with book 2 in her series!

Shattered: The Torzial Affair Book 1 by: Via Mari- Review by Jessica Ranslow

Brian Carrington knows who Jenny Torzial is, but when he meets her in person for the first time, he is confident that the night will end with Jenny in his arms and under his control. Brian’s irresistible good looks and reputation for being the heir to the Carrington Steel empire are quickly thwarted by Jenny. Unlike the other women in Brian’s life, he can not get Jenny out of his mind. When he attends an event with the hopes of seeing Jenny again, he walks in on Jenny coming face-to-face with her past and Brian is thrust into the role of protector. It is under Brian’s care that Jenny begins to heal from the demons of her past, and begins to explore her true desires. Via Mari alternates chapters between the two main characters in this face paced story of dominance and submission, the dangers of high profile society, and giving the ultimate level of trust in another person.

Via Mari had me from the first chapter and left me craving more!
