Stars:4

This set of books include the following books: Courtship and Courage by Carrie Dalby, When Time Stood Still by Chelsi Arnold and J D Boudreaux, Hobbes House Noel by CJ. Peterson Talking in Code: A Christmas by E. A. Hale, and Safe Haven by Jolie St. Amant. As a whole group, this anthology was put together well. The individual stories were short and quick, but had sweet romances in each book. I very much enjoyed all of these stories, but I particularly enjoyed Safe Haven. If you looking for a set of quick stories to read in between all the wrapping, this is a great holiday romance set to read!!!!!!

Hometown Heroes A Christmas Anthology

Four Stars

This is a collection of books about men and women who have put themselves on the front line so to speak. They give even when they have very little for themselves. All the stories were well written and had good character development. Sometimes short stories are better because it gives you just enough to satisfy you. There is no mincing words just straight to the point with only a few curves. These stories were a great distraction from my cranky 7 month old. I love anthologies because you get to read a variety of books and sample an author before reading their other stories. Overall I liked this book and will check out more from these authors.

by Carrie Dalby, Chelsi Arnold, Cj Petterson, E. A. Hale, J D Boudreaux, Jolie St. Amant

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology was a great 5 star read.
This is a great compilation of five short stories from six different authors. All of these authors were new to me and I can’t wait to read more from them. All of their stories pulled me right in.
They range from historical to present time and paranormal.

Courtship and Courage By: Carrie Dalby
When Time Stood Still By: Chelsi Arnold and J.D Boudreaux
Hobbes House Noel By: C.J Petterson
Talking in Code By: E.A Hale
Safe Haven By: Jolie St. Amant

There are some moments that brought tears to my eyes and others that made my heart smile and LOL. All of the stories are of course based around Christmas. There are so many great characters, main and secondary. And I loved Versace. If you’re looking for a great holiday read with great stories I highly suggest you 1-click and get started today. Another great thing about this book is that part of the proceeds are donated to the Cajun Navy Relief fund.

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology by Various Authors. This was a wonderful collection of romantic Christmas stories ranging from Paranormal, Historical & Contemporary! One of my favorites was When Time Stood Still by Chelsi Arnold & J D Boudreaux is about Jacqueline Jones who needs a change from her East Side Apartment so she moves to the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. Nick Lapointe once a member of the Cajun Navy says goodbye to Cajun country and heads to the same Smokey Mountains. When they meet sparks fly, literally, they are both attracted to one another but they also want to kill each other. Will love win out? This is a very entertaining read. I also really enjoyed Safe Haven by Jolie St Amcent. Its the story of Haven Cross trying to get over the tragic death of her husband during war. Every year @ Christmas she returns to Chateau Rouge & relives her proposal but the Enchanting Hotel has other plans for her & Chance Montgomery the musician in town. Can Haven let go of the past and have a future with Chance or will she let her fear hold her back? These are all very good Holiday romances and its well worth the read!

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas AnthologyHometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology by Carrie Dalby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This collection of Christmas short stories was a quick and easy read. Each story features a different genre and each featured a hero of some type (hence the title of HOMETOWN HEROES).

Courtship and Courage by Carrie Dalby is a period romance. This is not a genre I read and I kind of rolled my eyes when I realized what it was. I have to say that I enjoyed it. It talks about a time in US history that I am unfamiliar with (shame on me) and I would like to learn more about. It is a sweet romance that takes place between a school teacher and a boat captain. It is well written, quick and to the point.

When Time Stood Still by Chelsi Arnold and J D Boudreaux is a contemporary romance. I have read both of these authors before and loved the fact that the male protagonist is reading one of Chelsi Arnold’s books. This is a story of how opposites attract and features a character with PTSD. My favorite line in the story – actually the entire anthology – “All a girl needs is her dog, caffeine, and a good pair of shoes. Everything else can be winged.” Well plotted with a very clear beginning, middle and end – I would love to read this as a full length novel.

Hobbes House Noel by CJ Petterson – This is a story where we learn that all is not as it appears. I believe that each character in this story is a hero in there own way.

Talking in Code by EA Hale is a full length novel in 13 short chapters. Complex and detailed story about a lost art.

Safe Haven by Jolie St. Amant – This is a short story\novella which is more like a scene from the author’s series “Chateau Rouge”. Paranormal Romance at its best. Makes you wonder what actually is going on around us.

The other thing I realized after writing the review is that there are no sex scenes and I don’t remember any foul language.

I would recommend this anthology to my mother’s book club.

Hometown Heroes has a good mix of stories centered around Christmas, heroes, and love. It has a little somethin for everyone. Courtship and courage is a historical romance with a sassy girl and a determined boat captain, centered around Christmas. I like how he’s making all his choices to be ready for a future with her, it’s sweet. When time stood still is sort of an opposites attract situation. These two were meant to meet, it was fate. Though they definitely butted heads for sure. Safe Haven takes place at this hotel I’ve read about before. All sorts of paranormal things going on, but falling in love is what it’s all about. Such a fun and sweet story.

This was a fantastic collection of short Christmas stories by some amazing authors! I loved that there were couple who I have read work by before and then also some new tome authors but each story in this anthology I thought was a well-deserved 5 star read! Although there may only be 5 stories there is definitely something for everybody from historical, contemporary to paranormal!
The 5 stories included in the anthology are as follows
Courtship and Courage by Carrie Dalby
When Time Stood Still by Chelsi Arnold and J.D Boudreaux
Hobbes House Noel by C.J Petterson
Talking in Code by E.A Hale
Safe Haven by Jolie St. Amant
I don’t think I can actually choose a favourite from this anthology which unusual for me there always seems to be one that stands up but I absolutely adored all of them. Each one was different and the author or authors were able to drag me into their stories easily. I actually would have happily read full length versions of any of the stories.
As I said before there is definitely something for everyone in this great collection and I cannot recommend it enough!

Hometown Heroes is a Christmas anthology comprising of five stories, which included:

Courtship and Courage by Carrie Dalby – A dramatic story set in the summer of 1898. Claire O’Farrell guards her heart but is no match for Joe Walker. This story was edgy and well written. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

When Time Stood Still by Chelsi Arnold and JD Boudreaux – A story starring Jacqueline and Nick. They get on each others nerves, spit fire at each other regularly, and provide a reader with endless action, activity, love and endurance. A fantastic and dramatic tale that was difficult to put down. A cleverly spun story worthy of 5 stars.

Hobbes House Noel by CJ Peterson – Merrill becomes a heroine after saving a stranger’s child. Christmas takes on a whole new meaning for her and she realises that sometimes what you are looking for comes to you in the oddest way, at the most unexpected time. A moving story that stays in your mind long after finishing.

Talking in Code: A Christmas Homecoming by EA Hale – Another story set in years gone by. Evelyn is a suffragette who is fired from her job in an ammunition factory, so a war veteran can take her position. Evelyn becomes entranced by James, until she realises who he is. Explosive emotions, courageous acts, defiance and love all go hand in hand to make up an adrenalin spiking and dramatic story that will never get old.

Safe Haven by Jolie St. Amant – Haven struggles to let go, and after her fiance was brutally taken from her, she has to deal with heartbreak, devastation and loneliness. She meets a dashing musician, Chance, and there unfolds a beautiful story of second chance love. An emotionally charged story that will lea vge a readers heart full.

This anthology celebrates all our heroes and heroines, whether famous or humble in their splendor. This collection of stories points out that  a hero comes in all shapes and sizes, and the strength and courage of the human spirit is awe inspiring and never to be underestimated. All the authors are unique in their own right, but together they deliver some of the best christmas reading you will ever find. 5 stars.

I loved this collection so so much. I have read books by a couple of these authors and loved them, what I really like is that now I have a few more authors to follow. Every story in this anthology was a 5 star read for me, a few of them I didn’t want to end and wish they could have been longer. Each one had a common thread with the hero part of the storyline, and this was shared by each author in a different way.

I don’t normally like reading anthologies and the only reason I took a chance on this one was a couple of the authors I have already experienced and the Christmas theme because I love anything Christmas. This one had everything I want in my books and I’m so very glad I picked it up.

I highly recommend reading this and I also can not wait to read it again next Christmas.

Many thanks to these extremely talented authors.

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology was a sweet, feel good Christmas read that showcased a variety of different characters and situations, but in the end held the same heart warming message of love and magic.

This collection of short stories was a relaxing feel good read that managed to pull me in, even as the stories changed, the authors changed and of course characters. I found myself loving each story and felt connected. Even as one story ended, I didn’t feel apprehensive about jumping into the next one, no I felt excited. The pacing and placement of each story was done magically and I give props for that.

As each story is short, I’m not going to give you anything that might spoil this warm holiday read. I will tell you that, if you’re looking for a great collection to indulge your Christmas spirit, then this is for you. If you’re looking for an amazing way to spend a quiet afternoon, to lift your heart, then grab this book, even if you’re not into the whole holiday season, still pick up this book. The characters are all well-rounded and have such addicting personalities that you will connect almost instantly. This isn’t just a collection of Christmas stories, it’s a collection of love, finding love, magic, heroes that don’t get the credit they deserve and excellent writing.

So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval; that this anthology will touch your heart and warm your soul.

Happy Reading

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology is a wonderful set of stories that I loved reading. Having stories that are set around Christmas and then adding in some romance gives you that heartwarming feeling that the season is all about. There is no doubting the magic of the season as you read each story. The woman in these tales are fiery, independent, and strong. While the stories are not long they have enough emotion in them that I found myself with misty eyes and a smile on my face. I found that these stories stayed with me and I thought about them even after I had finished the anthology. Some are set in the past and others are in the present day. All make a lasting impression on your soul. I have read stories by some of the authors and enjoyed reading stories by them again. I also have discovered new authors and look forward to reading more of their writing. This is a wonderful group of stories that have amazing characters. Highly recommended.

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology is a collection of five short stories by six wonderfully talented authors. These authors all have different styles and approaches to writing; all are unique and individual- but each story uses the same theme as their inspiration for writing their contribution to this anthology- the common thread running through each of the stories celebrates everyday heroes. Whether their heroism is gained through devotion, or leaving behind the safe and familiar in the hope of adventure and challenge, or saving a life by grabbing them from the clutches of death, or by being a war hero, or being someone who fights for what they believe in, or having the courage to leave a painful past behind in order to embrace the future- we meet a variety of leading characters, each one a hero in their own right and are unique to their storyline. All the stories are set around Christmas, and are packed full of Christmas spirit.

The Anthology contains:

-Courtship and Courage By: Carrie Dalby
-When Time Stood Still By: Chelsi Arnold and J.D Boudreaux
-Hobbes House Noel By: C.J Petterson
-Talking in Code By: E.A Hale
-Safe Haven By: Jolie St. Amant

All the stories are so engaging and believable- with wonderfully written plots, and well developed characters. I have read books by several of these talented authors before- but three of the authors were new to me… so I was excited to not only read the work of the authors I knew and loved, but also get an introduction to some authors who are new to me.
So, settle down for some wonderful reading, which will entice you with heartfelt romance, some suspense, a bit of mystery, history, some paranormal, action, drama, adventure, and more. There is something here for everyone!
I really recommend this Anthology- you won’t regret buying it! It is worth every cent of the purchase price- and by purchasing this anthology you will be helping out a charity in the process, as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Cajun Navy Relief! #Win-Win!

This was an awesome collection of 3 short stories that I absolutely loved and enjoyed. One of my favorite parts is that they are all based in New Orleans at The Chateau Rouge. Now after reading all 3 of these, all I could think of is I want to go there, I would probably be scared out of my mind half the time but I don’t care, all of the characters in these stories were written and portrayed perfectly. This author has a way of taking very few pages and adding in so much content and not in a way that it feels like it has all been jam packed in there, there are also mini twists and turns throughout, not those kind that are earth shattering or major story changing but those kind that are placed perfectly and you never see them coming.

I have said this before and now I’ll say it again, I could read 100 books all in a row that take place at The Chateau Rouge, and I highly recommend this as it was just plain fun to read and I do see me reading all of these again in the future.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give That Voodoo That You Do (Chateau Rouge Book 1) by Jolie St. Amant, 5 stars.

The Chateau Rogue is the setting for these stories. A wonderful, old hotel that is supposedly haunted. Three couples that are thrown together by chance. Or is it just chance?

I loved this book. The setting of an old hotel in a town with lots of history itself is just the perfect place for these to take place. Each of the main characters are quite interesting and very real. Not to mention that there are three separate possible romances going on, but it is not like some books, where only the characters change. No, this has three very distinct couples, each with a very different story/circumstance. I could not pick a favorite, I loved them all. I cannot wait to read more with this hotel as the setting and hope this series goes on a long time.

If you like romance set in a historic, haunted setting, this book is for you.

That Voodoo That You Do (Chateau Rouge Book 1)That Voodoo That You Do by Jolie St. Amant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

That Voodoo That You Do is the first three books in one collection for you to enjoy in one sitting of Jolie St. Amant’s Chateau Rouge novellas. I personally have loved every single one of them. Each are short but jammed packed stories promising to satisfy your hunger for that bedtime story or afternoon escape, much like it did for myself.

Dream A Little Dream of Me is the first novella in the set. It features Josey Jacobson who owns the Chateau Rouge, and this is how we are introduced to the gorgeous background for most of the upcoming stories to come, as well as the vibrant streets of New Orleans. We also get to know the handsome Archer, and well it’s a short story so you will just have to see what happens for yourself…

The second to come is, Hard Hearted Hannah. Another vibrant and detailed short gives us the story of Hannah and Julien. Both come alive off the screen of your kindle and promise to intrigue you with their story. I personally found theirs to be my favorite story of the three in the collection. They just seemed to keep me on the edge of my seat the most.

Last, but most certainly not least, is A Kiss to Build a Dream On. It is an explosive way to complete the set. At only 83 pages, again it is short but wow is it one heck of a story. In this one we meet Chloe. There is more of the mystery and intrigue throughout to keep you well engaged, and enough paranormal to have you questioning the bumps in the night after you finish the last pages. I personally can’t wait to see what will come next for Chateau Rouge and from Jolie St. Amant!

That Voodoo That You Do (Chateau Rouge Book 1)That Voodoo That You Do by Jolie St. Amant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

That Voodoo that You Do is Book #1 in The Chateau Rouge Series by Jolie St. Amant. It contains the three books of the series in this one fantastic edition. I have really enjoyed this series and exploring New Orleans and the stories through the eyes of the characters and Ms. St. Amant’s exquisite writing. Her attention to detail, rich descriptions, and original storylines bring everything to life and kept me engrossed the whole way through. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with Ms. St Amant’s style and The Chateau Rouge series- getting three books for the price of one means you are able to flow directly from one story right into the next. “That Voodoo That You do” contains:

-Dream A Little Dream of Me (Book #1)
-Hard Hearted Hannah (Book #2)
-A Kiss to Build A Dream On (Book #3)

Dream a Little Dream of Me is the first book in the Chateau Rouge Series by Jolie St. Amant. It is an incredibly clever, unique and engaging paranormal romance that captivated me from the very first page. Ms. St. Amant’s vivid imagery and descriptive details painted a picture of New Orleans that brought all the sights and sounds of this colourful city to life right before my eyes. The story had a mysteriousness about it, it captured my attention and enticed me further into the book. I couldn’t put it down till I had finished every word.
Josey Jacobson owns Chateau Rouge, a hotel steeped in history on a busy street in New Orleans. The story is set in the lead up to Halloween which ads an extra air of excitement to the story. Josie and the Chateau are not what they appear. There is so much more to Josie and her lovely old hotel and as the story unfolds there are quite a few surprises to be found.
Archer is in the city for a music festival and is a guest at the Chateau. He is the sexy and charismatic lead singer of a well-known band, who finds himself drawn to the Chateau and its beautiful owner, Josie. There is also more to his attraction than first comes to light and discovering all the details was such a fantastic ride.
The story is a short, quick and easy read. It is told form several POV’S, which allows the reader to get a much bigger picture of what’s happening, as well as extra elements to the intriguing backstory.

Hard Hearted Hannah is the second book in the Chateau Rouge series by Jolie St. Amant. It is a wonderful paranormal romance set once more against the backdrop of a city steeped in rich history that is New Orleans. Ms. St. Amant is a talented writer whose attention to detail and vivid descriptions transported me into the story to see all the sights and sounds as the story unfolded.
Hannah Montgomery works for the Charleston Lifestyle Magazine, but she’s also the boss’s daughter. She has a reputation for being a heartless Ice Queen- but she hadn’t always been so hard hearted. Having your heart broken can do that to a girl. After enduring the pain of heartbreak Hannah vows to never let it happen again, and so she builds a hard, cold barrier around her heart.
With plans to attend the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans to hear her favourite band perform, Hannah is not impressed when her father insists on the magazines photographer accompanying her on the trip. She is concerned because he’s the only one who has made her heart flutter for a very long time.
Julien isn’t any more impressed with their situation than Hannah is. She is so a snippy, dismissive and cold. Julien could remember a time when she was happy, kind and caring. Those days are long gone. It’s going to be a torturous trip
And so, their mysterious weekend begins. What happens in New Orleans? With supernatural forces drawing them together, will these two find a connection? Can Julien melt the ice around Hannah heart? Will Hannah let down her defences and take a chance on love again?
This story was cleverly woven through the same time frame as the first book, so we get to see characters we know and love- as well as meeting new ones. This is a sensual story and having New Orleans as the backdrop really added an extra element of intrigue and interest.
This is a novella length book, so it’s a very quick and easy read. It’s a sweet and captivating read. The paranormal elements are really well done- subtle, but memorable.

A Kiss to Build a Dream On is the third book in the Chateau Rouge series by Jolie St. Amant. It is a charming and captivating paranormal romance set in New Orleans. This series is fast becoming a favourite of mine, and even though the books are short novella sized stories, they pack a lot in a short amount of space and feel like a much longer novel.
In this book we meet Chloe Deveraux who accepts a new job interstate and leaves her unhappy marriage, husband, home, and life behind- to start fresh in New Orleans, a city she’s long held a fascination for. Her new job is at the Chateau Rouge- where she’s the new P.R manager and Chloe will be staying at the hotel while she settles into the job and city. She is so excited about exploring the city, wanting to experience everything the New Orleans has to offer. Her new beginning really kicks off when she has a drink spilt on her in the bar on her first night in town.
Jared Peterson is an IT and computer guru with his own software firm. He’s in town on business, which happens to be at the Chateau Rouge, where he is also staying. When he accidentally spills a drink on a gorgeous woman at the hotel bar he is surprised to recognise his high school crush. Chloe hasn’t changed in the years since he saw her last, but she doesn’t immediately recognise him. He’s been crazy about her in high school and he’s determined not to waste this opportunity to reacquaint himself with her, and hopefully it will develop into more. But Chloe is ready for a fresh start and to enjoy her freedom- not get tied down a man again. But as they spend time together, Chloe can’t help but feel drawn to Jared. Will she lower her guard and let him in, or will she allow her fears to prevent her taking a chance on love?
This is a great addition to the series and I love how each book reveals a little more about New Orleans, and the history of the recurring characters and Chateau Rouge. Everything is so intricately connected. Small details that all blend together to produce the larger picture. I loved that with this story we got a bit more of Alcide’s story- he’s such a mysterious character, I loved uncovering those details about him.
A story rich in history- with wonderful characters, an intriguing storyline, suspense, drama, mystery, tension, new beginnings, the paranormal, and a touch of Fate….. makes this a sweet and memorable read!

If you love a great paranormal romance set in a rich and exotic location, with endearing characters, and beautifully written & captivating story- then this is definitely the book for you!

Thank you, Ms. St. Amant!

That Voodoo That You Do (Chateau Rouge Book 1) by Jolie St. Amant – Review by Heather Bahm

That Voodoo That You Do (Chateau Rouge Book 1)That Voodoo That You Do by Jolie St. Amant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

That Voodoo That You Do, by Jolie St. Amant, is the first of the Chateau Rouge book set. This features stories of three different women and how their lives are changed once they come to Chateau Rouge. This is an author and series that I highly recommend. I have read two stories that are a part That Voodoo That You Do which feature Hannah and Chloe.

Hard Hearted Hannah, by Jolie St. Amant, is the second story in the Chateau Rouge series. This is a paranormal romance novella. This story instantly caught my interest and is the first story I have read by this author. The plot within this short story was unique, yet tied into the theme expertly well. The two main characters, Hannah and Julien, were well paired and their navigation through the story was fun, creative and suspenseful. Add in the cast of supporting characters, there is much mystery lingering in this series and its amazingly done. I have not read the first book of the series and didn’t feel it took away from this story. Jolie St. Amant is certainly a talented author and it is clearly shown in this short story.

Jolie St. Amant’s A Kiss to Build a Dream On is the third book in the That Voodoo That You Do series. This may be a novella with limited pages, but don’t let that deter you. Each of the stories within this series overlap each other in one way or another and the way it is done is seamless and perfectly done. I have previously read the two other books prior to A Kiss to Build a Dream On and enjoyed those. A Kiss to Build a Dream on was fun, light with a hint of paranormal energy with is a solid theme within this series. I really liked Chloe’s character is this book and how she came into her own. This author is quickly growing on me with each new book I read within this series.

That Voodoo That You Do (Chateau Rouge Book 1)That Voodoo That You Do by Jolie St. Amant

This is a paranormal-ghost romance set that I loved and is a must read. Three women each looking for one thing, love. The Chateau Rouge is a hotel that secrets and if only the walls could talk, oh the tales! I loved the characters in this book. They are connectable and lovable. They took me on a journey of finding themselves along with a chance of love at the same time. It left me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. I highly recommend this book!

A Kiss To Build a Dream On (That Voodoo That You Do Book 3 by Jolie St. Amant is a  paranormal romance book. It is set in a city of New Orleans where everything from  ghosts to voodoo is at your fingertips. It is a very short story that can be read in one  sitting and with the way Jolie writes about the place gives you can imagine the rich  vibrant feel from the history and enough mysticism to make it a story that comes alive.  I loved reading and didn’t want to put down until I had finished the final page.     This is one easy read and very enjoyable. Grab a drink and get lost in the story.

A Kiss To Build A Dream On (That Voodoo That You Do Book #3) (A Chateau rouge Novella) by Jolie St. Amant – Review by Angela Hayes

A Kiss To Build a Dream On (That Voodoo That You Do Book 3)A Kiss To Build a Dream On by Jolie St. Amant
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Kiss to Build a Dream On is the third book in the Chateau Rouge series by Jolie St. Amant. It is a captivating paranormal romance set in New Orleans. And again, as with the other books in this series, Ms. St. Amant’s vivid imagery and rich, descriptive details really brought all the sights and sounds of this colourful and historic city to life, right before my eyes. This series is fast becoming a favourite of mine, and even though the books are short novella sized stories, they pack a lot in a short amount of space and feel like a much longer novel. Technically you could read this book as a standalone, but each instalment in the series is like a piece to a much bigger picture, all intricately woven along the same time-frame as the other books in the series. So, having said that, I really recommend reading ‘Dream A Little Dream of Me’ (Book #1) and ‘Hard Hearted Hannah’ (Book #2) to fully appreciate the rich tapestry that the author is creating. Each new book adding more ‘strokes’ and ‘layers’ to the overall picture.
