by Brandi Elledge

I was hooked from the start and I couldn’t put this book down until I finished reading it! Then I got left on a cliffhanger ugh!! Gabriella is going through so much in such a short amount of time. I am so glad that Gabriella made two really good friends because she needs people on her side especially since she didn’t really have anybody growing up in foster makes it hard to get close to anyone. The author did an exceptional job weaving an intriguing and entertaining story that I couldn’t get enough of. I cannot wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this book.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and wow she now has a new fan. I normally don’t read young adults books but I’m so glad I did. I fell in love with the cover and then the amazing characters in this story. This is the first book of the Academy of Seraph. This book was a perfect way to start an addictive series. I could not put this book down until the end. It only took me a full day to devour this amazing story. I can’t wait and see what is next for these unforgettable characters.

Gabriela is not your normal seventeen year old. She was blessed by the angles and gave her some powers that she doesn’t even know how strong they are. Gabriela gets thrown into a new world that she doesn’t want to be in. She is now one of the students in the school for the gifted called the The Seraph Academy. Gabriela feels like she doesn’t belong but she quickly finds out that she is the best. She is shocked when she meets the commander of the school. He makes her feel things that she should not be feeling yet. Gabriela finally makes some friends but are they really her friends? Will Gabriela find out her true power or will someone want to take it from her?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can honestly say that this was one of the best books that I have read in a while. Isabella Cassazza is a new to me author but she is now at the top of my top authors list and future must reads. Emilia and Matt had me falling in love and rooting for them the entire book. Here were a few times where I had wanted to slap Matt in the back of the head and shake some sense into him but I am so extremely happy with the way this book ended and I absolutely can not wait for the next book!!!!

TWO HEARTS UNSPOKEN TARGETS (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 11) by Tamara Ferguson

Like all of the stories I have read by Ms. Ferguson this is a sweet, heartfelt love story. There is also a mystery about Zach’s past.

The love between Elizabeth and her son Kyle is just so tender as is the love between Elizabeth and Zach. Don’t even get me started with the relationship between Zach and Kyle.

I was a single Mom at one point and always made sure to put my daughter first and any guy I dated knew that. Elizabeth was the same way, her son came first no matter what, though her circumstances are very different from what mine were.

I loved Zach’s family and hope we see his cousin again soon. Think he would be a good addition to the group.

I devoured this book and was disappointed when I finished it. I love how we get a chance to see previous couples and see how their lives are going. Looking forward to read the next in this series.

The Widow
A Dark Romantic Fantasy
By Naomi Valkyrie
And Rebecca E. McEwen
☆☆☆☆☆
This is a romantic story, filled with fantasy and an unbelievable darkside. Can I give 5 ☆s to each author? It was that good!

You will meet Vashti, Absalon and Simeon. Vashti is a new widow, Absalom has a cheating girlfriend, and Simeon, who is friends with Absalon. All 3 are strong and drawn to each other. Enter the Mansion, where friendships grow and fantasy turns real. Sorry, not sorry. No spoilers!

Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E.McEwen have written this story. It has a little bit of history. A whole lot of dark romance. This book will draw you in and keep you there, until the last page is read. I love the characters, you can’t help it though. I have read Naomi Valkyrie’s writings, but Rebecca E. McEwen is new to me. You can bet I will be looking for more!

Confidentiality (Scope of Practice Book 2) by Jessica Aiken-Hall – Review by Katie McEwen

ConfidentialityConfidentiality by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I would like to start by saying that I LOVE LOVE LOVE a book that leaves me guessing the ENTIRE time and actually surprises me. I read a lot of crime novels and there is nothing worse than knowing “whodunnit” on page 5 and being right the entire book. Jessica Aiken Hall did an amazing job with that in Confidentiality (Scope of Practice Book 2). You are left guessing and if you think you have it figured out, you are very likely wrong. Valerie’s life is finally coming together. She has great friends, a great fiance, her support group is going amazingly…all until a serial killer pops up. Her need to protect will put her in danger. Will she figure out what is going on and how it is all tied together? Jessica Aiken Hall does a great job sensitively touching on difficult subjects and also writing in some great banter with Val and her fiance Tim. All in all, I highly recommend this book.

This book drew me in because I could relate to the character, Vashti’s pain of growing weary of the world around her of loneliness and grief. No, I’m not a widow but I’ve been there where I’ve experienced both emotions but I loved where this book took the reader. The lives of the main two characters are disrupted with the entrance of another character who brings drama into their fold and their privacy is shifted but also to where it leads to unexpected changes that force their lives to take on drastically as it all unfolds. I hope this is the start of a series because the mystery captured my attention because you wanted to know more. The suspense kept me tuned in till the end to read it.

Center of Gravity (Ice Tigers #2)Center of Gravity by Isabella Cassazza
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first time reading something by Isabella Cassazza and I am so going back for more after I finish this review. This book was a perfect read for a rainy day. It has the slow burn romance with a sports theme and hot men and fun fashion to boot. Throw in babies and I pretty much am in heaven.

In Center of Gravity we find Emilia struggling to please and make her grandfather proud. Something that is even more crucial given his financial and social status. Things seem to take a turn for the worse when Emilia finds herself pregnant and being sent to America to manage the hockey team that her grandfather just met. She is hoping this might just be the start over moment she needed but when she gets there she discovers that the one night of fun that left her pregnant is actually a player on the team! The build up to the finale of the book was so perfect and written with a flow that had me engrossed to find out what would happen between these two. I can’t say enough good things about this read!

Boundaries (Scope of Practice, #1)Boundaries by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Boundaries (Scope of Practice Book 1) By Jessica Aiken-Hall is a book that will suck any reader who likes a good mystery right in. I thought that the story line was great. It could have built up a little bit quicker, but at the same time, I would be afraid something else would have gotten lost if it did. My favorite thing about this book is definitely how relatable the main character, Valarie is. (For me at least) She is anti-social, but she is still out there in the world doing what she needs to do and even investigating a murder! The relationship that the author shows between Valarie and the detective she works with is also great. All in all, this book is definitely worth reading. It it hard to say too much without giving away too much, and it is so interesting to learn about Valerie’s past as you go. Definitely part of the intrigue. I would highly recommend this as a 5 star read!

I was pretty excited to sit down and read The Widow, and I had high expectations. The best news is they were all met well beyond what I could have ever wanted. This is such a great short dark romance that I found myself engrossed from page one until the very last well into the night when I should have been in bed. The lack of sleep hangover the next day was so incredibly worth it though. I am anxious to see if we will get more dark romances from Naomi Valkyrie and Rebecca E McEwen in the future because I think these two have found quite a niche here. The concept was a bit different and new so the story was fresh and I never found myself bored. We meet Vashti as she is a widow who thinks she is ready to find love again. When she begins things with Absalom you wonder if things will be smooth sailing and do get off to a nice start. When a friend comes into play and stirs up trouble for the couple things get super interesting. I loved this book and I can’t’ wait to get my hands on more!

I loved how beautifully this is written by the author. Kudos on a great book! I loved how romantic everything in life never is for these characters that come together to save one another. Love always prevails as they attempt to help one another heal not only from life’s circumstances for them but this couple manages to overcome it to not only become better people but a better couple as well.
What’s not only entertaining but also inspiring is how well it’s written but the wonderful characters are the way they come together for one another almost at the perfect time in their lives. This is a happily-ever-after love story that’s easy to read and a great page turner.

This is one of the best paranormal fantasy reads I’ve read in awhile. Gabriella is what makes this book one of the best because as you get compelled further into the story, you see what all she’s battling and you quickly find out why she’s “blessed” by powers that are higher than who she is. As Gabriella is ready to escape her destiny at the academy, a handsome commander is keeping her interest. The truth is, she knows how important it is to hide her identity and what she possesses to protect herself from the fallen angels. Pick up this book and the first of an amazing series I’m hoping to read the rest of. Great book!

I absolutely love this story! It is filled with wishes, lost hope and amazing characters. This really pulled me in from the beginning and I could arely put it down. Each page I flipped drew me more into the lives of these two. Matt, who feels relationships with women are a terrible idea since they only let you down. I am thrilled we got chapters with his thoughts and feelings otherwise I would have labeled him a emotional jerk. Then there is Emilia who feels like everything in her life she fails at. She tries very hard to do the right thing only to let others and herself down. She wants people to love and recognize her for herself not her famous name. These two have a one night stand expecting to never see each other again but the universe has other plans for them.

This story brought me chills of delight as well as goosebumps from the desperation. I enjoyed and *felt* Each characters as they worked their way through this tricky development. Secondary characters are wonderful and full. This makes me want to delve more into this hockey series.

This is my first book by this author. I am impressed with the flow and naturalness of the story and characters. I recommend this story for not just lovers of hockey themes but those who want a real story that goes along with it.

I love the ups, downs, twists and turns this book brings the reader on through Hani’s eyes as an Egyptian diplomat. Prepare to have your boots knocked off with the mystery and intrigue of this suspenseful read. This book involves the best that mysteries have to offer including everything you can imagine. No matter how high this unfolds for him, he’s prepared to take down whoever or whatever is in his way. My heart raced reading every line of this book and where it would take Hani to solve the mysteries that were laid out before him.
This book has everything you could want in one of its caliber: Twists, turns, tragedies, great descriptions of Egypt including Syria, easy to read, fun to read, entertaining, and full of action. Excellent read!

I’m so glad that I picked up this read! This is my first read from this author and won’t be my last! While hockey isn’t a go-to sport I watch or even know about, 1 I thought I might learn about somethings, and 2 it’s a romance read and being a go-to favourite genre of mine I jumped at the chance. Being the second book in a series I thought I might lose the flow of the story and not know the characters but I had no problem connecting with the story or the characters. This read flowed brilliantly from start to finish and had me hooked from the start. I absolutely loved the characters I connected with them immediately and couldn’t wait to see these characters journey through the read. I can’t wait to read more from this author and see where she takes the rest of this series, but until then I’m going to go back and read Book 1 and dive into this authors world again!

5+++++++++ Stars
(This deserves so many more)

I’m sitting here staring at my screen speechless…Where do I begin?

This is my first book by Brandi Elledge, not sure why but it is, it will absolutely not be my last.

I won’t lie, I threw my kindle when i finished, I may or may not have also said a few curse words when it ended. When I was done I immediately pulled up everything I could find because I MUST have the next in this series, I was all ready to one click when I see it’s not even out yet. Throw in a few more curse words here.

This book was completely amazing..it had me reading till the yawns made it impossible to stay awake, then jumped back in needing to finish it, yet not wanting to because I didn’t want it to end. The flow of this story was complete and utter perfection…the genre is not one I normally choose, but the cover drew me in and some of the reviews had me too curious to pass it up. I usually get lost or lose interest but not this time. The dialogue throughout the entire story was so enjoyable and even though a few of my suspicions were spot on it did not matter, there were still some things I’d have never guessed.

There is no doubt in my mind that Remy has been added to one of my favorite supporting characters ever! “Bless her sweet ghostly heart” Then there’s Finn *insert huge sigh here* and this author transported me into the story and I felt like I was on Gabriella’s journey with her! This book was full of absolutely everything I love about reading. Finding a new author, falling in love with a book from a genre I usually struggle with, absolutely everything!

I usually make myself notes so that I can catch myself up before the next book in a series comes out…Im not doing that this time, this time I will just read it again, and probably again!

PHENOMENAL STORY!!! Many many thanks to this author, and please please please I truly must have the next as soon as possible!

Boundaries (Scope of Practice, #1)Boundaries by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Boundaries is the first book in the Scope of Practice series. The main story line wraps up, but the ending does leave room for more in the following book.

The way the main character, Valerie is described at the beginning of the book made me relate to her almost immediately. The way she keeps to herself, doesn’t like the unknown, can’t seem to keep up with time, and her feeling of being awkward are all things that I can relate to very much.

The way the author has written the story, you don’t know Valerie’s past right away. Because I related to her so much in the beginning, I had to keep reading to find out what her story was.

Boundaries is full of mystery and intrigue. At times it can be heavy on the emotions. And, there are some interesting twists that keep you turning the pages.

Overall, a good read. I look forward to seeing where Valerie’s journey takes her in the next book.

Note for sensitive readers – there are potential triggers in this book.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is an amazing adventure set in Anciet Egyptian times. The author has described the places and people in such detail that you can imagine them as of they actually existed.

It is a great murder mystery. When a high profiled bandit is assassinated, Hani is sent to find out who is responsible.
With their kings declining health and rumours of his son’s reign not being as peaceful a time as they are currently living in could this murder be related to the future Kings plans or did the victim cause trouble with another member of another area of the land?

Its a great read which keeps you turning the pages. The story takes a little while to get into due to the characters and how they relate to each other but once you get that it grips you until the end.

In the Arms of Morpheus: A Speculative Romance (Antiheroes Book 2) by Gaia B. Amman is a thought provoking and mysterious read. It is an interesting, gripping and original tale that has sci fi aspects to it. The story is well written, and it is easy to be drawn to these complex characters. As usual with Gaia’s stories there is a lot more to the characters and the story that she slowly reveals like peeling back an onion. She is also not one for shying away from taboo topics, sensitive topics and issues and she doesn’t disappoint in this story.

Bird in a Snare (The Lord Hani Mysteries Book 1) by N.L. Holmes is a historical cosy mystery set in ancient Egyptian times where NL takes us on a journey where there is a dark, deadly and sinister plot. She paints a vivid world and her writing invites you into the storyline. Having said that the story did start out a little slow and I also found myself wandering and skipping things to move it along at times and having to go back and reread somethings. NL’s passion for the subject matter is clear within her writing and this is not just a story it is also a lesson on 13th century Egypt.

The Widow by Rebecca E. McEwen and Naomi Valkyrie was a great novel! I highly enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick, very enthralling read. I could hardly put this book down when I started. I loved the characters and the plot line and storyline, and it was so much like two different times in history converged into one while I was reading this story. That was very interesting, in a way I’ve never read a book like that before. This is the first book I’ve read by McEwen, but not by Valkyrie, and so far it’s been my favorite! Kudos on this great read!

Blessed: The Academy of Seraph by Brandi Elledge – Review by Erica Fish

Blessed: Academy of the SeraphBlessed: Academy of the Seraph by Brandi Elledge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My head is still going over everything that happened in the story and it is that good. Just because it is marketed as YA does not mean adults cannot enjoy it. This story had ups and downs, twists and turns, and secrets around every corner. I personally could not put the book down until I read the last word. The plotline is engaging and the description of the surroundings you are in at that moment gives you the sense of being right beside the characters. Gabriella is “Blessed” and has to attend The Academy of Seraph. She was lied to about who Blessed her for her own safety. Will Gabriella found out the truth? Who else will find out about those who have Blessed her? Is she in danger? You will have to read the story to find out the answers.

Sometimes you pick up a book not knowing what to expect and it completely takes your breath away and this is exactly what happened with this story by Ms Elledge. I like YA books because find them nice and easy to follow and they always seems to have a good storyline that’s not overly complicated and it’s always nice to just pick up a book and get lost in what you’re reading for a while. This is exactly what happened to me in this book – in fact I got even more than I anticipated! The storyline was deep and the authors’ writing was beautifully detailed. I loved the characters, especially Gabriella! I was completely captivated by this fantasy world of angels, demons and so much more! I was definitely kept on the edge of my seat that’s for sure and I cannot wait for the next book to find out what happens!
