These elinefae are not like the others….

Elan and Arwyn are Watchers, guardians of their clan and brothers-in-arms.

Along with their other best friend, Pryderi, they pledged an oath long ago not to get romantically involved with one another. Their bond meant more than a brief tumble in the Den of Sin. They will not allow history to repeat itself and destroy everything they hold dear.

But when Pryderi comes back from his honeymoon with his soul-matched mate, something shifts. An unsettling distance wedges itself into their lives.

And when an exotic new male comes into their encampment, things are set to change even more.

Will they be torn further apart? Or is destiny creating their HEA?

An all-male triad could be on the tarot cards in this enticing fantasy tale of love and adventure. Grab it now.

NB This book is honestly a standalone novel. So, don’t worry if you’ve not read the award-winning Darkness & Light Duology. I mean, feel free to. You just don’t have to.

Definitely contains mature scenes. And frankly, some immature ones too.

There is some violence. And an elinefaenapping occurs. F-bombs and other swear words are scattered liberally throughout.

Magick, dragons and witches come as standard.

Still may not be suitable for vegetarians.

Tempting Fate (Black Shamrocks MC: Australia Book 1) by Bella Faust – Review by Angela Renee Diaz

Tempting Fate: a dark and angsty love triangle romance (Black Shamrocks MC: Australia Book 1)Tempting Fate: a dark and angsty love triangle romance by Bella Faust

If your highly sensitive, avoid reading this as there is multiple triggers. Liliana is my favorite character. Yet I’m a little bias just because of her name. Also can’t help but admire her for her strength and her determination to show she is a survivor. Lily has the skills to keep going forward. Though she was a victim she isn’t drowning in her sorrows. I highly recommend this book if you can take the triggers. If not kindly move on.

Goldilocks and the Six Simple Machines (Science Folktales) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Candice Estes

Goldilocks and the Six Simple MachinesGoldilocks and the Six Simple Machines by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a creative take on a classic story. Most people know the story of Goldilocks and the three bears, in which Goldilocks tries out all of the bears things until she finds which one works best for her. In this twist, Goldilocks helps the bear family by fixing things within their home. This is an interesting and creative way to introduce simple machines, such as pulleys, levers, inclined planes and others, to young readers, while making learning them fun and interesting. I would recommend this book for grade school age kids, mostly older grades, who will be learning this information in their schoolwork, but could probably use the refreshing while being entertained.

Sliding into Home: A Secret Baby Sports Romance (Playing for Keeps Book 3)Sliding into Home: A Secret Baby Sports Romance by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book 3 of this series, but absolutely can be read as a standalone, but I’ve enjoyed all 3 of them and would definitely recommend them.

Six years ago, Saskia and Jeff had a one night stand that created their son, Max. Saskia wanted to tell Jeff, but by the time she found out she was pregnant, Jeff had disappeared. When she meets Max’s baseball coach for t-ball, she is surprised to find Jeff is the man that her son has been telling her so much about. Jeff is surprised to see Saskia again after so long, and even more surprised to learn that he has a son he didn’t know about. While the pair get to know each other, and Jeff gets to know his son, there are many things to sort out, including how to make their relationship work for the long haul.

With some steamy scenes, an adorable kid, and a guaranteed happily ever after, this is a great book, and a quick read. I didn’t want to put it down!

Tempting Fate: a dark and angsty love triangle romance (Black Shamrocks MC: Australia Book 1)Tempting Fate: a dark and angsty love triangle romance by Bella Faust

The prequel isn’t a romance, but a deep dive into a psychopath’s mind where we hear his side of the story.  Think Criminal minds except worse. When the author gives you warnings about the triggers, please understand it isn’t just a line or a paragraph mentioning said triggers but pages of details. The kind of details that keep you up and make you keep the lights on.  With that said, I feel the prequel was necessary.  The author can spin a tale,  but what blew my mind was the way she navigated these dark waters.  I felt the gamut of emotions.  Third, this book is more of a dark romance but please be aware there are still triggers that come up as danger surrounds Lily once again.   Zeke and Lily’s relationship is complex as it layers over the past.  A past that starts to feel very “in the present”. The author’s understanding of the human mind and the way she presents it to us is very unique.  Her writing made an impression on me.  She wrenches emotions from the reader and is hardly breaking a sweat it seems. My compliments to the author!

Tempting Fate: a dark and angsty love triangle romance (Black Shamrocks MC: Australia Book 1)Tempting Fate: a dark and angsty love triangle romance by Bella Faust
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is an absolute thick piece of an enticing romance full of love, betrayal, tenacity, and hope. It is a very graphic book, so please check trigger warnings and keep your mind safe as you read through this, because it does have detailed descriptions of SA and physical abuse. However, it absolutely sucked me and kept my attention as I started to delve into the Shamrock MC. I loved Lily, and the evolution of her character was fantastic. As I said, this is a very thick book, and while some parts are a little slower, the pace is set very well. The writing is a little different from what I’m used to, but it didn’t deter me from falling in love with the book or the characters. Highly recommend, and I’ll be waiting for book 2!

Twisted Eros (Modern Mythica Book 1)Twisted Eros by Aria Skylar
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this modernized tale of Eros and Psyche, we have Kay and Eros. Kay is your typical workaholic. She is constantly working and trying to be even more successful than she already is. In an attempt to try and take a break from everything, her sisters book her on an abduction vacation. Enter Eros. His sole focus is Kay, but she is nothing like he has seen before. His mission is to find anything he can on her to use against her, but things seem to take a turn possibly for the better. The longer they are around each other, the more they discover about each other and the line in the sand gets more and more blurry. Will these two end up together, or will everything blow up in their faces and all be for naught? I loved reading this book and the writer pulled me in from the very beginning. I can’t wait to read more from her!

This book drew me in from the start. This story is full of drama, betrayal, angst, love, steamy moments, great characters and so much more. There are definitely trigger warnings. I had a hard time putting this down because the author kept me glued to the story with twists and turns. I found myself on the edge of my seat at times while reading because I became so engrossed in the story. You can feel the love between Zeke and Lilly but that doesn’t mean they don’t have some issues to work out. There are a few characters that I couldn’t stand which made the story that much better. This is a must read and I can’t wait until I can read the book in this trilogy. I highly recommend this book.

I was so happy to hear that N.L. Holmes created another series in the Lord Hani Mysteries world! I absolutely loved her setting of ancient Egypt and I am truly obsessed with History and mythology! This book took it to the next level and I couldn’t put it down for one second! The relationship between Neferet and Bener-ib is just so pure and beautiful and written in such a realistic way! Every character has such an intense voice, I don’t know how N.L. Holmes does it! I couldn’t have asked for anything more and this book is the perfect one to use when you want to wind down and escape life for a bit! Flowers of Evil also has the perfect amount of suspense and such a well developed story I can’t wait for the next book in this series! Thank you so much N.L Holmes for expanding on this amazing and ancient society! I highly recommend both the Lord Hani and Hani’s Daughter mystery series to anyone like me, who is a sucker for wonderful mystery, history, and mythology all rolled into one! You don’t want to miss out on either of these entrancing series!

I didn’t realize there was a prequel to this book, so I doubled back and read it quickly. The sleep I lost while staying up reading these books was well worth it, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! My emotions didn’t know which way to go as I was pulled in every direction the entire time. It is intense, dangerous, romantic, steamy, and traumatic. I’ve never experienced such all encompassing emotions throughout one book and was completely taken by surprise multiple times. I am so fully invested in these characters, and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Flowers of Evil (Hani’s Daughter Mysteries Book 1) by N.L. Holmes – Review by Julie Johnson

Flowers of Evil (Hani's Daughter Mysteries Book 1)Flowers of Evil by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a fairly new author to me, I’ve read one other book that she’s written, but she is becoming a favorite! N.L. Holmes writes stories with Egyptian backgrounds, not something I’m accustomed to reading about but thought I would give this a try. I’m glad I did!

Neferet and Bener-ib are two women healers. In their time and custom, this was virtually unheard of. However, they are pretty talented and have served their king prior to branching out on their own. Business is slow until a man is brought to their doorstep who was mortally wounded and there was nothing that they could do to save him. All they know is that his dying word was “rabbet”. Neferet, not one to step down from a challenge is now also putting on an investigator hat along with her healer hat to find the person who took this man’s life.

Along the way, the ladies learn that their competition is spreading bad omens about them and trying to steer people away from their healing practice. Neferet and Bener-ib come up with ways to spur business to their side of the aisle. This shows their perserverance and it will pay off. I’m looking forward to more books in this series.

There is a fairly extensive glossary of terms and a directory of people in the beginning of this book. I found that super helpful as I’m not well versed in Egyptian history and there are some historically named characters in here. Also words like “sunet” (healer) are defined. This gave me a much better appreciation for the book before I even began reading it.

This was a highly entertaining quick read! The characters were fun to get to know and to see how their relationships evolved. I giggled quite a few times. The gated community is very realistic – how people interact and pass rules and bylaws. I enjoyed the novella, it is a good Saturday at the lake book.

Goldilocks and the Six Simple Machines was a new take on an old story. My son was not a fan of the illustrations, but liked the story. He liked having the phrases from the original Goldilocks stories tie into this book. I like how the author turned Goldilocks into a fixer, and with a good message. Instead of breaking the bear’s things and leaving them, she fixes them, leaving things better than she found them. My son did not know what a pulley was, and now wants to build one to see if it really works!

This was my first book by this author, but it definitely will not be my last! I found this to be a fantastic laugh out loud fantasy novel with a ton of heart. The author did a wonderful job of weaving together memorable characters and descriptive settings. I found the story drew me in right from the start, jumping right into action and kept my attention to the very last page. I loved the dynamics between the adventurers and the author did a great job of the longing they had to want to recover their divinity, especially Marluck, who had no idea why he lost favor and is desperate to regain it. This is a great book for anyone who is a fantasy fan who loves humor.

This is the first book in this series but there is a prequel that helps set up a lot of the issues the FMC faces throughout this first book. Lilliana has been dealing with major issues caused by Alex (and let’s face it her father) that Zeke and Slash have to watch her deal with and help where she’ll let. This love triangle between her, Zeke and Slash will get you to change back and forth between her men. Then there’s the plot twists that throw you for a loop! This does end on a cliffhanger but book 2 is already out so dive in!!!

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals Book 3) by Deborah Garland – Review by Jenni Bishop

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals, #3)Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love Deborah’s work and jumped to get Sleeping with the Enemy which is a deliciously dark Mafia romantic tale. It is a standalone Enemies to Lovers tale with a forced marriage theme. It is addictive and I stayed up late finish this book in one sitting because I had to know how it ended.
I love that the story is told in dual pov as it makes the story richer knowing what the other is thinking.
The story is intriguing and held my attention and I was often on the edge of my seat. There is plenty of passion and drama, lots of angst and Mafia politics that made for an exciting tale. I was totally addicted to this story.
There was so much going on whether in bed or in general. There are enemies, violence, drama, conflict, struggles, secrets, danger, lust, passion, and lots of emotions that go along with this saga. The sizzling chemistry between these two is palpable. Their relationship is explosive and tumultuous, hot and spicey in and out of the bedroom and add that to their daily lives and sparks fly! It is definitely.
It will keep you captivated and the pages turning. I have read a few of Deborah’s books and I really enjoy her writing style. The characters are strong, and the steamy romance is not smooth sailing it has complexities with twists and turns.
He is a possessive alpha and masterful manipulator to get what he wants. He is ruthless yet caring in his own way.
I highly recommend this book but be warned once you start you cannot stop.

Reader discretion is advised as this story contains potentially triggering content.
This is the first time I have read anything by Bella, and I had only heard good things about her work and was excited to see what she had to offer. To say I am hooked is an understatement. I had to stop reading this and go back to the first book Craving Control which I devoured in one sitting. Sleep is overrated.
Tempting Fate is the first book in this highly emotional dark and angsty suspense love triangle romance story in the Black Shamrocks MC: Australia trilogy. I do love me some dark, raw and gritty MC stories.
What a ride this story is. There is so much going on, but the story flowed flawlessly. The ebbs and flows just right. The plot is well done. The psychological aspect is thrilling, and the highly flammable emotions twisted me up inside.
There are characters you hate to love and characters you love to hate and everything in between. I wanted to hug, slap and kick some ar*e along the way. Ok, I did say it was an emotional read.
Lilianna endured a nightmare one she didn’t know if she would ever come back from but survived now her worst nightmare is back and betrayal is everywhere. Her life is falling apart, and she is not sure which way is up anymore.
With buckets full of angst, betrayal, pain, hurt and fears and twists and turns it is a definite page turner.
It is dark, danger is looming, it is full of chemistry, it is steamy and sizzles right off the pages.
The ending, wow. Whelp you will need to read to find out for yourself. I literally can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.
If you love MC stories, with a dark psychological aspect then you can’t go any further without reading this.

The Ring of Eagna is the fourth intriguing book in The Cross of Ciaran series. I thought The Cave of Ruin Arsa was the last book but am glad it is not. So, make sure to dive into the three other books before starting on this one. They follow on from each other and you don’t want to miss out on the previous adventures and wonderful characters.
Andrea draws you into the deadly mystery that is rich in archaeology and vivid with historical facts. Her world building makes it so easy to picture the scenes portrayed in the story. The stories keep getting better.
It is unique and interesting and has a bit of everything to keep the reader engrossed and with each book tension and the mystery builds the suspense nicely.
This captivating tale has plenty of twists to keep readers engaged. With treasure hunting, magic, adventure, drama, disturbing dreams, danger, miscreants, fights for survival and so much more it’s easy to get lost in the passion through the narrative.
The journey begins when Ciarán and Aodhán find the legend for a mythical treasure that puts them in more danger than they have been before.

Flowers of Evil (Hani's Daughter Mysteries Book 1)Flowers of Evil by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

NL has given us a brand-new series to enjoy which is a spinoff of the The Lord Hani Mysteries. Flowers of Evil is the first book in the Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series.
Set in Ancient Egypt this mystery is full of rich and vibrant historical details, passion and vivid descriptions of a time from long ago but brought to life by NL’s loving care. I enjoy learning just that little bit more history about Ancient Egypt with each story NL shares.
It would not be the exciting tale without all the intrigue and mystery, drama and secrets, lies and danger and that is just what NL gives her readers.
Nefereti and her friend find themselves between a rock and a hard place but decide to take matters into their own hands to try to find a killer. With evil lurking unfortunately, trouble comes knocking and danger is the name of the game.
This suspenseful tale sees our characters having to deal with murder, scepticism, malice, a rival healer and much more.
You will not be disappointed in this new series. I look forward to the next adventure.

Twisted Eros (Modern Mythica Book 1)Twisted Eros by Aria Skylar
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kay is a business woman through and through, she is the rising star of her company and is involved in every decision be it small, or large and she is always thinking ahead, the only thing is that she is so good at her job, she feels that she can’t not be there, she has to be involved or everything will fall apart. This is where she struggles with her life, she is unable to switch off and her sisters are both annoyed by this and worried about her, so when they eventually persuade her to take a break, it isn’t one that is what you would call a stereotypical vacation, they have booked her an “abduction vacation” because that is the only way that she will rest, is if she is forced to do it.

When the morning comes for her vacation to start, she is extremely reluctant still and just wants to back out, however, her sisters are having none of it and they make her pack her suitcase and tell her the arrangements for the day, or at least as much as they can anyway, so when she hasn’t even left her apartment, she feels someone’s arm around her and before she can scream a hand is clamped over her mouth. The only thing she knows is that the person will be wearing a mask, will be tall and handsome and will be keeping her company for a whole month, so when they move to their secret hideaway, she is not allowed to see the journey, only feel the sensations of traveling and this is more disorienting than Kay expected and when she is allowed to open her eyes, it isn’t what she expected and neither is the man.

Eros is a man on a mission and his mission is Kay, but she isn’t what he thought at first glance and from the first interaction, he is thrown off balance and over the next couple of weeks, he intends to do the same to her, but when his perception of her shifts and she elves further into her darker desires, he is left reeling, but can this vacation give Kay the rest and relaxation she needs, or will the two twist each other around so much that they have no idea who they are anymore? This is a twisted romance in more ways than one and when hearts are on the line, feelings are raw and true intentions are hidden, inside a dark hideaway revealing more than either is willing to show, in this dark and sexy story.

This is the first book in the Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series and it’s very well written. The historical details are amazing and really amplify the great writing in this book. I didn’t realise when I first started reading that the author was an archaeologist, now I know, it’s so obvious – how could they not be?

The author’s writing style flows well, and this paired with their in-depth knowledge really paints the scene and makes for a brilliant immersive story. The characters are also well-constructed and felt real and alive.

I was hooked beginning to end, finding more questions as my earlier ones received answers and I loved it! I absolutely love a good mystery and this one was exactly what I needed. I can’t wait for the rest of the series, if the rest is anything like this one it’ll be brilliant!

This is the third book in the Brides and Sinners Astoria Royals series, focusing on Priscilla and Riordan. The pair have history leading to the opportunity for a second chance romance (I enjoy this trope when done well). Of course, things are never easy for couples like this.

There’s drama and a whole lot of danger thrown at the pair and it was a pleasure to join them in their story and navigate the twists and turns with them.

The characters were well-written and I enjoyed the author’s writing style – it flows well and paints vivid pictures of both the characters and scenery.

I look forward to reading the rest of the series, and the books I’ve missed.

The Ring of Eagna (The Cross of Ciaran Book 4) by Andrea Matthews – Review by Jennifer Gordon

The Ring of Eagna (The Cross of Ciaran #4)The Ring of Eagna by Andrea Matthews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As a fan of this historical romance with a paranormal twist, I was excited to read this latest novel and I was not disappointed. The story continues, with Ciarán and Aodhán Donnelly who feel like old friends now. A monk in tenth-century Ireland records the legend of a mythical treasure which needs three ancient rings to access it. A thousand years later, and Ciarán and Aodhán then discover the manuscript and are convinced the tale refers to the relics of their fifth-century priesthood. However, the tome warns that to retrieve the fabled cache without the rings will cause dire consequences. As the brothers already have two rings they decide to locate the third, whilst recovering the hidden artefacts for the museum. Their treasure hunt soon turns deadly when they realise they are not the only ones searching for the sacred artefacts, and it seems their rivals are willing to do anything to find them. However, they would need to acquire the rings they already have, and they will not relinquish them without a fight! As usual the descriptive narrative brings both the characters and setting vividly to life making me feel immersed in the story. The storyline continues from the previous book, so I would personally recommend reading the series in order. I was hooked throughout and the plot kept me gripped and happily turning the pages. The historical details transported me back in time and I found the glossary at the end of the book very helpful. An enjoyable and engaging read.

Tempting Fate (Black Shamrocks MC: Australia Book 1) by Bella Faust – Review by Rebeca Elliott Figueiras

Tempting Fate: a dark and angsty love triangle romance (Black Shamrocks MC: Australia Book 1)Tempting Fate: a dark and angsty love triangle romance by Bella Faust
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Black Shamrocks MC: Australia Duplicity Trilogy, but not the first in the overall series. There is so much in this book: secrets, betrayal, action, twists and more.

This book is very dark, so I would highly recommend checking the trigger warnings before reading!

The characters are complex, well-written and believable. They tug on the heartstrings, playing on your emotions and occasionally leave you stunned. I really felt for Lily, she’d already been through so much that no one should ever go through, only to have more awfulness thrown at her.

I haven’t read the previous books in the full series but will do now as I feel I would get so much more out of this one if I had. I look forward to reading more from this author!

Flowers of Evil (Hani’s Daughter Mysteries Book 1) by N.L. Holmes – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Flowers of Evil (Hani's Daughter Mysteries Book 1)Flowers of Evil by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An entertaining historical cozy mystery drama which had me hooked throughout. Set in ancient Egypt and two women, Neferet and Bener-ib open a medical dispensary. Neferet is the daughter of Hani, who features in another series by the author, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. The first patient is a dying florist of Amen whose last words are very mysterious. Neferet and Bener-ib need to find the killer in order to appease the ba of the murder victim. However, they have to deal with the skepticism of their own families, as well as the malice of a rival healer. Luckily, their teenage apprentice turns out to be a natural detective. The women soon discover that in trying to do the right thing they have put themselves in danger. I love Neferet and Bener-ib as the main characters, they are so well defined that I felt like I knew them! The descriptive narrative brought the setting vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the story, and the added historical details transported me to ancient Egypt. The notes at the beginning of the book were very interesting and set the scene for the story, and I found the list of characters helpful. An enjoyable and engaging read, and I look forward to the next adventure with Hani’s daughter!
