Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary, #3)Vermilion Lies by L.D. Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“When the world is going to hell in a hand basket, you might as well make it a party on the way down.”

This series gets better with each new installment.

The writing is visual and detailed. It is a well plotted story with great character development. The story moves at a really good pace and kept me invested from beginning to end.

Things are not always as they appear in this series and it is interesting to see how things are being worked out. VERMILION LIES has sexy times, drama, action and adventure.

I totally recommend this series and this book.

A Protector’s Touch: A New Adult College Romance & Romantic Suspense Novel by Parker Sinclair touched on a subject that isn’t often discussed and a applaud Ms. Sinclair for taking it on and hope others will do the same.

April shouldn’t have had to deal with all that she did. She is so young, only a sophomore in college which is only a year older than my daughter. To realize that she could experience that really scares me.

There are a few things I would have liked to see happen differently, however I really enjoyed the book and hope to see more by this author.

The Last Dance (The Sorrel Janes Mysteries) by Lonna Enox – Review by Emily Walsh

The Last DanceThe Last Dance
By: Lonna Enox
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Last Dance by Lonna Enox was a fun, compelling mystery that was both chilling, entertaining, and had a sweet romance that hooks you from the start.

My first read from this author I went in with an open mine, and as someone who has read a lot of these type of books, I have to say, I’m impressed, shook, and just, really content with the whole story. Out of the gate we are drawn into the murder, mystery, and the setting. That stage setting was quick, chilling and perfect. It was the right length, detail and spook, to get the blood going and the mind racing. As the story moved onto the MC and main plot, things soon get dicy, hot and more murdery. The flow was, great, the tone matched the madness, and I love the romance that added to this story rather then take away. It reminded me a bit of Linda Howard, who is a fav author of mine. So to say I liked this book is an understatement, I loved it, and I will be checking out more from this author.

So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will get sucked into this thrilling mystery, that will have you twisted around and unable to conclude what’s truly going on, untill the very end.

Happy Reading

A Protector’s Touch by Parker Sinclair – Review by Michelle Mulvey

A Protector's TouchA Protector’s Touch by Parker Sinclair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Protector’s touch was a informative read. It may be a hard topic for some who have experienced abusive relationships but, it may also help those too.
April thought she was weak but, she was far from it. She lived a very sheltered life and once she got to college she started dating one of the cute soccer players. He was abusive and didn’t deserve her. Thankfully, she had a great friend to help her through everything and also a support group. There was also a guy named Shan who showed April that everyone deserves a happy ending. He tried to show April she was not broken in any way. Shan knowns what it’s like to be around an abusive relationship because someone close to him that he loves dearly was in the same situation. April got off lucky considering what the other person endured. April has a team cheering her on which makes it easier take the legal route when the college doesn’t help her. This book had a bit of suspense and was totally worth it. When I was about 75% done with the book I was like wow, I cannot go to bed now….I need to know what happens!!! Great ending.
There were some great characters in the book and a few that made you want to punch someone. An overall good read!

Dax Knight, what a cool name! Vermilion Lies is the 3rd book in the Senary series that takes us through the story of Dax and Cindel. This story is dark, passionate and in some cases brutal. This dystopian, fantasy world draws you in and you are reluctant to let go.
Dax is a Senary who vampire hunting takes him to Cindel, the mate of his mortal enemy. The problem is, she is a vampire. The very thing Dax is designed to destroy.
The chemistry between Dax and Cindel is so intense you can feel it from the pages of the book. It is raw, hot and emotional.
Ms Rose is a masterful story teller. She never ceases to amaze me with each new book that she releases. Highly recommended for lovers of romance and fantasy.

This is book 3 in this series and even though i’ve read the previous books, this could be read as a standalone.
We get to follow Tony, the fireman (yum), and also Derron’s best friend from the previous book. He was sweet and funny but also adamant he would never end up like Derron with one woman for the rest of his life, at least not at his age just yet.
These two were great together but she needed to find her backbone first. Ugh her family, I wanted to scream at them and pull the stick out for them lol.

This is a fast read, took me a little under 2 hours but the story flew by I was so engrossed to see what happened next.

Saint Code is book 4 in The Lucky Devils Series, a series which can be read as standalone’s, but it’s a series that shouldn’t be missed! This book had me constantly turning the pages. I couldn’t put this read down. Once again the characters that are a part of this series are unforgettable but especially St Augustine she still continues to intrigue me and wants me to find out more and follow her story through this read.
This story from the beginning was well paced, had you utterly captivated and each book just seems to be getting better and better!

If you have not already read the first three books in this series, I highly recommend reading them. An Unexpected Sequel is the fourth book in the series. Heather Silvio’s books keeps getting better. One thing I liked about her stories is they are quick reads. There is a bit of suspense filled in the pages so you want to make sure you are paying attention to the details. In this book we learn about Robin and Jackson. Robin made a deal with a demon which made her a servant of the demon’s bidding. One day the demon told her that she was supposed to kill Jackson McKee. There was a problem with this order she has feelings for Jackson. Now she is trying to figure out how to disobey the demon. Robin turns toward the Paranormal Talent Agency. Will Robin figure out how to disobey the demon? Will she confess her feelings to Jackson? You need to read the story to find out the answer to these questions.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hoosier Dad is an awesome contemporary romance by Elizabeth Seckman. Before reading this, I had never read any of this author’s work, but now I will definitely be reading more. I loved it and would definitely recommend it to others, especially if you enjoy a second chance romance.
Approaching her 30th birthday and with yet another disastrous relationship behind her, attorney Sarah Andrews decided to move back home to Dodd. One of the first people she meets is Richland (Rich) Cooper, the man who broke her heart. Ideally, she would like to never see him again but Rich needs a lawyer to help him keep custody of his 2 daughters from his evil ex-wife (who at one point had been Sarah’s friend.
Spending more and more time together, and Sarah falling in love with his 2 daughters, Rich is determined to win Sarah back. I loved the interaction between Rich and Sarah, Sarah trying so hard to resist his charms when deep down she still loves him. Rich’s 2 daughters Stacey and Kari were adorable and added so much to the story. You gotta love a cute kid in a romance story!
Of course the path to true love never runs smooth and there are so many obstacles in their way, mainly Rich’s ex-wife Jess and the local Doc who has his eye set on Sarah for himself.
Well deserving of the 5 star rating!

Dinner with The Wolf (Misfits & Rogues Series Book 2) by Kimberly Forrest – Review by Erin Wolf

Dinner with The Wolf (Misfits & Rogues Series Book 2)Dinner with The Wolf by Kimberly Forrest
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Dinner with The Wolf (Misfits & Rogues Series Book 2) by Kimberly Forrest, 4 stars.

Vampire Vivian is on the run. She did something that could have her maker serving out severe punishment. So she leaves. But she doesn’t realize just how good she had it. An actress before she was turned, she always believed she should be treated like a star. She didn’t realize how good she had it at Greenlawn Hall. Now she’s stuck and ready to admit she was wrong. But she wasn’t expecting the angry man who came to her rescue…..

Jules, an immortal wolf shifter, is put to the task of fetching Vivian and bringing her back. He is not looking forward to spending time alone with this spoiled brat of a vampire — he already has enough trouble with his inner wolf. But this journey is like nothing either of them expected. They each learn that maybe there is more to them than they ever thought possible. Maybe things actually are better than seem. And just maybe there is hope after all.

This is the first book I have read from this author and I didn’t know what to expect. To be honest, Vivian was quite annoying in the beginning but that is the point. She grows so throughout the book. Jules just exists and we learn why as the book goes on. But this is not just about these two. There is quite a bit of action as the book goes on. Not to mention the secondary characters are great too. I cannot wait to learn more about them in other books in the series.

If you like your paranormal romance with some action thrown in, this book is for you.

Steele Resolve (Hawke Family #6)Steele Resolve by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think my heart may be officially broken! This series has been my all-time favourite ever written by an author I have absolutely come to adore! I will admit I am not a fan of m/m stories but I needed to read Steele Resolve because I knew I was going to finally find out about Luca! The book was very cleverly written running alongside timewise a previous on in the series. The dual POV meant I was fully able to understand the characters and their most inner thoughts and feelings – this meant in true Ms McNamee style some wonderful twists and turns appeared! The whole series was tied together with this story and I really was so sad when I realised that this was actually over. Byron and Luca’s story was so intense that I forgot that I was reading a m/m story after all love is love! Their story was truly captivating and I loved every second of it.
From the moment I read Savage Collision (book 1) I knew I had found an author to love and a series that would be amazing to read and it absolutely has been. That still remains one of my favourite books ever.
The Hawke Family series has truly been outstanding and I cannot recommend the books enough. Steele Resolve was the perfect final book and it deserves the 5 stars I give it!

I love this book! This is the first book in this new series for this author. Her writing style is creative and engaging. The characters pop off the pages and make the story seem real. They are connectable and relatable, they make the story. In this book, we get to see Jay’s story and what a story it is. He meets Sasha, problem is she has mafia connections. There is just something about her he can’t get out of his mind. Will he be able to move past that and take her heart? A must read!

5 ++++ Stars

I just can’t face that there will be no more Hawke Family books, and since there is a sentence after the end of this book that leads me to believe there will be something more in the future, I will hold out hope that we haven’t heard the last of them.

I’ve loved every one of these books, as well as anything this author writes, she is an immediate go to when I want a story that kind of makes me feel like I have come home.

This one was a bit tougher for me as I don’t normally choose to read this type of book but I had to in this case and just skimmed through a few parts and stayed completely focussed on the storyline. Luca was hard not to like, I think it’s because this author gave us insight into his thoughts. What he was dealt because of his crime fathers death was a struggle that he managed perfectly. I could see both sides of this and felt how hard it was on everyone. Luca grew up loving the Hawkes and thought of them as family. He is left with big decisions to make, ones that will affect everyone he loves..Will he get back all that he wants in life or lose absolutely everything?

This as usual was written beautifully and I highly recommend grabbing this whole series, none of this will make sense if you don’t have the whole story behind everyone in this book.

I see a reread of this whole series in my very near future!

Tracking Numbers by Janice M. Whiteaker is the first book in the Lost Boys MC series. I’ll read MC every now and again but it isn’t my first choice but there was something about this book that caught my attention and I’m so glad that it did.

It’s hard to describe the picture I got of Tracker in my head, he was a mixture of all sorts of hot bad boys rolled into one and one I wish I could have met when I was younger.

Kerri is definitely more what I would expect my husband to go for, but thankfully he didnt meet her before me. She’s smart, independent and not afraid of a lot.

I really loved this book, and I will be keeping up with this series. Ms. Whiteaker is a new to me author and I’m so glad I found her.

The story Wayward (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 1) by Via Mari is an amazing book to read. It pulled me in right from the start and didn’t let me go until I had read the last page. I loved reading about the characters of Sasha Koslov and Jay. Sasha is a Russian Ballerina. She is smart, beautiful, and independent. Sasha is a character that I had empathy for how she has been treated and the experiences that she has had. She is someone that I wanted to find happiness. Jay is the security/bodyguard for two of the wealthiest men in the world. He is trustworthy and can be counted on in a crisis. These two have an attraction/chemistry together. What does the future hold for Sasha and Jay? Will her past be too much for him to overcome? Will they act on their feelings for one another? Read this book to find out. This is a story that is suspenseful and there are times that I was turning pages to find out what happens next. You can feel the emotions/feelings are strong between Jay and Sasha. There are some very steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. You can feel the passion and desire that burns between the two. There is also bantering that goes on between them. I enjoyed reading about the additional characters that interact with Sasha and Jay. Don’t miss out on a book that has parts that will make you swoon. Highly recommended.

There is mystery, danger, and a bit of romance. I loved reading about the characters of Sorrel and Detective Chris Reed. Sorrel is a woman who has come to Saddle Gap to escape and start over. She is an intelligent, observant, beautiful woman who at times can be stubborn. She is a wonderful photographer, and this is shown when she finds herself helping out the local police department in taking forensic photos. Chris finds himself in the middle to two recent murders. Wow! This book is truly heartbreaking and beautiful.

I can sympathize with April, and can see why she thinks she so weak in dealing with her scumbag of an ex boyfriend. I hate that her or any woman for that matter, lives with the abuse she did. When she meets Shan, her life starts to change and for the better. He dealt with a similar situation with his mother before, and it seems that he inspires hope in April that she can take care of her ex-boyfriend through the courts, be done with this mess of a relationship and move on to a brighter future. April becomes a stronger woman able to take care of herself and stand up for herself ant that is truly inspiring. Shan is a wonderful character and shows that there are good men out there.

I highly recommend this book! I appreciate the author taking the time to showcase the world of someone living in a relationship with physical abuse and how she overcame it. I hope anyone who reads this book and is in a similar situation can find inspiration and hope.

The story Never Let Me Go (Bayou Devils MC Book 6) by A.M. Myers is a romantic suspense book. It is a story that I found to be awesome and amazing. I loved the storyline and reading about the characters of Juliette Shaw and Sawyer Michelson. Juliette is an intelligent, independent, and beautiful woman. She is overwhelmed by the fact that she can’t remember either the car accident that took her father’s life or the last five years. She decides that only action she can take is to run. Then she meets Sawyer. Sawyer is a man that is protective. He works hard as a brother in the Bayou Devils. Then he meets Juliette. There is a deep attraction and connection between Sawyer and Juliette. Danger seems to find Juliette. Are the incidents that happen just coincidence or is she in more trouble than she realized? What does the future hold for Juliette and Sawyer? Read this book to find out. This story at times had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. There are also romantic moments and scenes. I grew to care about Sawyer and Juliette with each chapter that I read and wanted them to find happiness. I enjoyed the bantering that goes back and forth between them. There are additional characters that are introduced and some of them are helpful to Juliette and Sawyer. Then there are those with their own agenda. Don’t miss out reading a book that hooks you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until the final page. Highly recommended.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a tough but good book. It deals with a abusive topic. I’m sure there is an element of truth to this story. I can’t imagine what these women go through not counting their loved ones. This shows a side that deals with the event through to the legal ending. I thought the characters were very likable and true to form. Shan was a delight to read. He inspires hope that there are good guys out there. I was leery a couple times but he is a true knight. April thinks she is weak but this event actually made her stronger. I liked how pro active she was for herself. She is a star among the sky as she can inspire many girls.

It was interesting to me how the words the EX spouts at the beginning of a relationship actually mean something else by the end of a abusive relationship.

“Look at all the things I can buy you, take you to, provide for you, all in ways no one has done before”
Possible translation:
“We will always be together, even if you want to escape”

I shouldn’t say I love it but how ironic.

This was a good eye opening read. I would recommend to all women and even men. It has a nice romantic side but it is also full of suspense.

This is ACTION packed! I really loved this story! I think it’s my favorite out of the series so far. I love that the story moves forward continually. It is a constant flow from one stop to the next. No time to get bored! I loved seeing all these characters again. They are moving forward with their lives and it’s nice to see where they are at now. Cade, Janet, Anders and Dianne all have that danger element not to mention their friendship and love for each other. I want to mention I LOVED Hopes bodyguard. His name and his sense of humor. I look forward to seeing more of him. In the future.

The more Dahlia decides to stay, the more she struggles. She has been hiding what she really is and her past to almost everyone. But the more she does, the more she seems to hurt those closest to her. She must decide whether to trust those she cares for or continue hiding. But that’s not all. There are body parts washing up on the flooded riverbed — and not all of them appear to be human parts. Who is doing this and why? Can she figure out what or who is behind it? At what cost to her and her friends?

I have loved this series from the beginning and it just keeps getting better and better. The story itself is something like I haven’t seen before. And it is not a simple problem with a simple answer. There are many things going on and many facets to this puzzle. Dahlia herself is so complex but she is also growing too. She struggles with the way she has always thought. Not to mention how much she cares about both her friends and those in need of help. The cast of secondary characters provide even more wonderful layers.

This series showcases how Urban Fantasy should be and I highly recommend this book. I suggest reading the previous books in the series first to understand more.

Via Mari was raised in both the United States and United Kingdom and travels extensively. As a child she spent uncountable hours traveling and always enjoyed reading to pass the time and this pattern has continued in her adult life.

In fact, you can still find her curled up in an overstuffed chair, when the wood fire is crackling and popping, reading a page-turning novel until the early hours of the morning, especially during the harsh winters of the Midwestern United States or engrossed in a book as she travels from place to place researching for her own novels, or attending conferences.

Via’s inspiration to publish stemmed from research as she began writing love scenes for her own novels. It became apparent there seemed to be a cultural divide between what people believed was normal or vanilla sexual behavior and that which people considered BDSM and she felt compelled enough to write about the differences, similarities, and extreme feelings and levels of trust individuals in dominant and submissive relationships must have, and the desires that are at the heart of these relationships.
