A Match Made in Montana (The Millers of Marietta Book 2) by Elsa Winckler – Review by Jennifer Gordon

A Match Made in Montana (The Millers of Marietta, #2)A Match Made in Montana by Elsa Winckler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A heartwarming contemporary romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Annie Miller moves to Marietta to set up a B&B in the picturesque Bramble Lane, following the death of her parents. Having her brother and sister near by helps Annie to heal and also to forget her ex fiancé, who left her just weeks before their wedding. Meanwhile, workaholic marketing whiz Craig O’Sullivan from Portland is on a two week vacation in Marietta to see his cousin get married. When his Aunt Janice asks him to help Annie market her B&B he didn’t expect to fall in love! However, with Craig living and working in Portland and Annie’s life being in Marietta, the couple have to decide whether their developing relationship is forever or not. The chemistry between Annie and Craig comes across in the narrative and I felt engaged with the likeable and relatable couple, hoping they would get their HEA. The setting was brought vividly to life by the descriptive narrative and the storyline had me hooked throughout. I look forward to returning to Marietta soon!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was such a great read and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I haven’t read the first book in the series and I would definitely like to read that one also. I like sports romance reads but never read a golf themed book before and I really was enjoyable. I liked Christy she was a lovely person and Ryan wasn’t quite was I was expecting either! They did seem to have a genuine attraction and chemistry. There were some great characters in the book and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another lovely read from this author and her lovely community at Buckeye Falls. What I love about this series is the couple featured all seem real and have relatable problems. I enjoyed Anthony and Natalie’s story and it does go to show that sometimes people can seem really happy on the outside but inside things aren’t always that great. I feel like these characters were really honest and genuine people who had just lost their way a bit. I loved seeing them find their way back to each other with a little help from the residents of Buckeye Falls!

Brutal Nights (Hidden Valley Elite Book 4) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Katie Matthews

Brutal Nights (Hidden Valley Elite #4)Brutal Nights by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ok so Brutal Nights was everything I hoped it would be and more! Talk about angst in this book, it had it in bucket loads! I was fortunate enough that I didn’t have to wait after that cliff-hanger of the previous book and it was straight back into the action in Brutal Nights.
I really did feel for Sky, she definitely found herself caught up in the middle of something she really didn’t want to be in and all because she is such good friend and wanted to help Gia out on her quest for her senior year and unfortunately chemistry got in the way and thing didn’t go quite as planned!
This book was so easy to read and I honestly could not put it down, I was completely caught up in Sky and Damon’s story.
Brutal Days should be read prior to reading Brutal Nights – both stories were amazing read and I would highly recommend.

Brutal Days (Hidden Valley Elite #3)Brutal Days by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brutal Days was a fantastic story. I was hooked from the very first page until the last. The authors writing was really engaging and the characters were well thought out and brilliant to read about. Sky was a fantastic character – I really liked her and Damon well he’s one of those characters you should really hate but you have to love! The chemistry between the two of them was HOT!! I loved that Sky wasn’t intimidated by Damon at all, she was perfectly capable of holding her own!
That cliff-hanger though …… I was so pleased I had the next book to dive straight in to – I’m not sure I could have waited!!
An amazing book and well worthy of the 5 stars I give it! Highly recommended to other readers!

This is such an adorable book about taking care of yourself. It’s great for those littles in your life that are all about helping others and helping them not to burn out too quickly. I’d definitely set it up with some great, creative self care ideas for a small lesson about the topic.

Looking forward to using it to teach my littles about taking care of themselves!

The second book in the series, I thought this was a great follow up to the first book and can be read as a standalone. I thought this book was even more entertaining than the first. The connection between the characters was just as strong as those in the first but I found these ones to be funnier. I enjoyed watching their relationship build as the story went on.
I am very much enjoying this series so far and I really hope that it carries on the way it is. I am looking forward to the next book in the series and will be checking out some of other books by this author too.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a great second chance romance and one in which you will really root for the characters the whole way through. This book is a combination of some of my favourite tropes – second chance, secret baby, sports. I knew I was going to enjoy this book as soon as I started reading and I can definitely say that I did. It was lovely to see the connection between the main characters build again after so much time apart.
This is a new author to me and if this book is anything to go by it is one who will become very familiar. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and the overall writing style. It found the book to be easy to read, the perfect escape into a fictional world. I am looking forward to book 2 already.

From the moment you start reading this book you are pulled into a dark and intense world. It grabs your attention and keeps a tight grip well after the book is finished. It was gritty and exciting and an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. The characters really brought all the emotions of the book into focus and made it real and alive. I loved their connection and the evident chemistry between them.
This author really knows how to write a truly fantastic book and this is just one example of many. I also connect with her books so easily and I am always left wanting more once I have finished. This is a brilliant start to a new series and I cannot wait to see what else is to come.

Sacrifice Bunt (Ground Rule Book 2)Sacrifice Bunt by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sacrifice Bunt (Ground Rule Book 2) by Bree Kraemer. This is a really good enemies to lovers read. Its about Zara who is focused on her career and has no time for romance. She is almost like a man in the sense that she loves them then leaves them. Noah is a MLB player and a friend of a coworker of Zara’s so when he walks in on Zara completely naked waiting on his friend he can’t get her out of his mind. Zara thins Noah has a stick up his rear and she doesn’t like him because he found her in a vulnerable state. Zara doesn’t realize the trauma Noah has been thru and just doesn’t like him. When they kiss she changes her mind and can’t get him out of her mind. Will they be able to get past their hang ups and make a relationship work or will they let the problems of the past cause it to never work. This book will have you turning the pages late in the night until you are finished. Such a good slow burn read.

I enjoyed reading this romance story. This is still a newer author for me which I enjoyed their writing style and how the story was brought to life with their attention to details. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world from the start. They are connectable, strong, supportive characters that made the story easy to read. I enjoyed watching their growth as well as their chemistry that had me coming back for more. This is a story about Craig and Annie. Annie has a B&B that Craig helps market her business. Will they find more in common than a business deal? They are great characters that add so much to the story. I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend this book.

Even though this is based more towards children, I really enjoyed it. I learned many words and things about Israel that I never knew. I was extremely excited at the end when they had a glossary for all the terms I wasn’t sure about saving me the time of trying to Google to be sure I understood correctly. I think this book is a wonderful story for children to read and learn so much more about Israel. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, especially people trying to teach their children of the beauty and diversity in other countries.

Rise of the Hunter (Blood Prophecy Series) by Barb Jones – Review by Darian Vester

Rise of the HunterRise of the Hunter by Barb Jones
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I’m giving this book 3 stars because of my mixed feelings about it. The synopsis sounds great, “evil does not die, it seeks vengeance.” That’s sounds super cool. However, I didn’t feel that The Tall Dark Man was a cool evil guy.
Now I haven’t read the other books, it says it’s a fourth book but it’s not stated on the GoodReads title. So, he could be a good bad guy in the previous stories, but all he does in this one is have sex with witches. I honestly don’t understand why everyone fears him.
Saying that, I did enjoy some of the other characters. There are many POV’s in this, and it did bother me that they would start in a different paragraph instead of getting their own chapter, but they were still good. My favorites were Chloe and Amber. Also Malakai and I think Zaraquel was my favorite.
The Hunter was very interesting. At first I thought it weird that he was able to speak telepathically but it was a nice take of having him being able to control the witch and already be such a strong hunter.

Can a dark mafia romance get any hotter? I thought the prologue was hot and romantic. I was wishing I had a Salvatore to come rescue me. I loved the way the story was set up to give us back history into why he is the way he is. Man, the action, drama, romance and story is WOW!! I loved it and couldn’t get enough. I have to admit that I stayed up most of the nights reading this. When I wasn’t reading, it was all I could think about. This author writes in a way that leaves you wanting more. Your characters are such that you need to figure out who they are.I loved it and want more.  This is a 5 star that would be more if I were allowed to give it more.

A Match Made in Montana (The Millers of Marietta, #2)A Match Made in Montana by Elsa Winckler
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When i read the synopsis of this I was so excited to follow Annie in her journey of running her B&B in the mountains of Montana. I was a little disappointed in this book as a lot of the dialogue was corny to me and Annie seemed to say things out loud that most people would keep to themselves and I just did not enjoy that. It made me physically cringe at points. She was very open with her feelings of physical attraction to Craig but in a childish way. And her constantly calling him a hot sexy Irishman annoyed me to no end. The plot was okay and I enjoyed some of the chemistry between them but this was cheesy to me. Craig’s character was easier for me to handle and I appreciated him overall. I think I would have enjoyed this more had I read the first book because I felt confused at the connections and relationships between the other people in this book.

Soul Redeemed (War of Destiny Book 5) by Theresa Van Spankeren – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Soul Redeemed (War of Destiny #5)Soul Redeemed by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Soul Redeemed is the fifth book in the War of Destiny series. I would definitely suggest reading this fantasy series in order, starting with Lost Soul, to follow the story and get to know the characters. The series follows Julia, a vampire who is part of the Resistance against the Vampire King.

In Soul Redeemed, Julia is learning how to use and control her powers to communicate with the dead. She’s done it before, knows she can, but doing it on cue to prove her abilities and help the cause of the Resistance is easier said than done.

There is some great world-building in this series, which combines historical elements with vibrant fantasy. And a wonderful, ever-expanding cast of characters. Julia has a lot of complicated relationships to navigate with the other vampires, with centuries of emotional baggage to consider!

This book gets five stars from me. I’d recommend it to fans of dark fantasy and historical fantasy who love vampires. I can’t wait to read more!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I picked this book for my eight and eleven year old just as much as I picked it for me. I’ve been teaching my kids about different cultures, backgrounds, religions, and traditions. Being Jewish but never seeing Israel had me drawn to this book. I could teach my kids a little more, but also myself at the same time! This book was so informative during a whole journey through Israel. You go through a huge diverse, fascinating, beautiful, and historic land. You can see the amazing lands of colors through the landscapes pictured in these pages. I really loved the fields of flowers, but my girls loved the camels and beach art. There is a wonderful glossary at the end of the book that explains some of the words, but also has some great facts about the photos and places. I would recommend this book not only to kids, but anyone who wants to visit Israel one day. This is a great guide to many places there. But also anyone who wants to learn a bit more about other places, culture, food, land, and traditions like I did. I can’t wait to check out some of the other books from this author!!

Cruel Start (Hidden Valley Elite Book #4.5) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Angela Hayes

Cruel Start (Hidden Valley Elite #4.5)Cruel Start by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

Cruel Start is Book #4.5 in the Hidden Valley Elite series by Isla Vaughn. Wow- this series just keeps getting more intriguing and angstier with each new addition. As with the other books in the series it is a New Adult Bully romance, with a surprise pregnancy element, chemistry, spice, angst, drama, friendship, intrigue, emotion, family drama/dynamics, secrets, fear, and lies.
This is the prequel to Aspen and Phoenix’s story, a novella length morsel to whet the appetite- which made for a quick and intriguing read. Aspen and Phoenix’s story continues in the next two books- ‘Cruel Hate’ (Book #5) and ‘Cruel Love’ (Book #6)- so I can’t wait to lay my hands on them to find out how their story unfolds from here.
Even though this is book #4.5 in the series, it could be read as a standalone if you wanted, being the first book in Aspen and Phoenix’s story. But, having said that, I highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one as I feel that knowing what happened there will definitely enhance your reading experience of this story. The previous books help lay the foundations of the series, as well as giving character introductions, backstories, and other ‘groundwork’, which having on board will definitely help your understanding and appreciation of each instalment, as well as the Hidden Valley Elite series, as a whole.
Bring on Book #5!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Isla Vaughn!

Cruel Start (Hidden Valley Elite #4.5)Cruel Start by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m completely hooked on this series. And Cruel Start is the beginning of the next duet. The next member of the Elite is destined to fall, or is he. I love what the author does with these books. The chemistry and drama between the main characters is crazy. But you know what? I eat it all up. I want more and can’t wait for the 2nd book in this duet and 6th in the series. This book was on the shorter end but it was the best place to end the story.
Phoenix’s only focus is football. He doesn’t have time, nor does he want a relationship. Well that was till he physically ran into Aspen. He’s still reluctant, however something happens that could change that.
I can’t wait to see where this author takes this duet. I’ll be anxiously waiting.

One small town.
One broken heart. One impulsive decision. One new start. One Marketing whiz.
A meddling Aunt. A wedding. A two-week vacation. A bed-and-breakfast.
A Match Made in Montana is the second book in The Millers of Marietta series. This series is about the Miller siblings so make sure you read the books in order as these wonderful characters cross over.
This second chance romance story fun and easy to read. This heart-warming tale is well written and is filled with mixed emotions, taking chances, laughter, family, tears, love, lots of chemistry with spicy undertones.
With just the right pace, some tension, and realistic characters that you can’t help but like it is easy to become invested.
Annie is from the big city, but the impulsive decision is the best she has made. A small town with family is just the place to heal.
Craig’s is determined to help but he sees so much more than a marketing campaign. The only problem is their lives are worlds apart.
With past hurt between them will they open themselves up and take a chance to the possibility of love.
This delightful story leaves you eager to read more of the series.

Cruel Start (Hidden Valley Elite #4.5)Cruel Start by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book contains mature content that some readers may find disturbing.
Cruel Start is the fifth book in this enemies-to-lovers, NA sports romance in the dark Hidden Valley Elite series. It is the prequel to Aspen and Phoenix’s duet Cruel Hate and Cruel Love. I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Make sure to read them all in order so you don’t miss out on any of this delicious goodness.
She is just hanging in there then her world is completely turned upside down, it was just supposed to be one last fling, now it is one big surprise.
These complex characters are the Elite they are bullies and alpha young men who rule the Academy. Are they dangerous? Absolutely. Do they take what they want? Oh yeah. Do what they want? You bet they do. Do they rule both on and off the field? In more ways than one. But beware the young women who are just as complex and ferocious. It’s hard not to like them.
There are characters that you will love to hate and hate to love. Isla writes them so well.
This dark college bully romance tale is another tangled web for one of the Hidden Valley Elite where there is sizzling heat, plenty of passion, lots of angst, drama, thrills, fear, secrets, lies, deceit, harassment and jealousy.
This series just keeps on getting better and better. Cruel Start does end in a cliffhanger that continues with the next book Cruel Hate which I can’t wait to get my hands on.
