Ted has been working on a ranch to deal with the grief of losing someone close to him. Stephanie has been working on the ranch over the summer, teaching yoga classes. Stephanie has a crush on Ted. She becomes quite nervous when he is around and can barely get more than a handful of words out. Even though Ted thinks that Stephanie is too young for him, he is attracted to her. He just can’t seem to figure out why she won’t same more than two words to him. When both of the main characters get a reminder of how fast things can change, will they be able to find out if there is something between them?

This was a quick read that I was able to enjoy over an afternoon. The characters were relatable and lovable…even if they were a little stubborn at times. However, the story flowed nicely and I found myself immersed into the Montana ranch life for a few hours. Although this is the second book in the series, you do not need to have read the first book to understand what is going on. The author has a beautiful way of storytelling which I enjoy.

This book is the first in a new series and is a book all about the connection between the main characters. Each had a past that they needed to overcome so they could move forwards. They were obviously well suited even if they were clearly going to have to find a way to let everything go and it was great to watch them do it.
I though the book was well written. It was engaging and entertaining. The author managed to add a lot of emotion to the story which added another layer to it. I have read a few books by this author and they are always enjoyable books. This is a great start to a new series and I am looking forward to the next.

Homicidal Innocence by V.J. Lee – Review by Sue Kemp
This is the first book I have read by VJ Lee, and I have to say that I enjoyed the book from start to finish. If you are some one who loves a thriller with romance chucked in to the mix, then I would highly suggest you read this book. This book has some good twists and turns that it will keep you guessing what is going to happen next. Do not be fooled to think you have worked certain parts of the book all worked out, as the book will prove you wrong. This being my first book by VJ Lee, and I do not normally read thrillers I found the way the book was written held my attention from the second chapter until the end of the book. I do feel that Maya’s weight could have been dealt with once and then forgotten about. That is my only gripe about the book. I am looking forward to reading more of VJ Lee’s work in the future. I am giving this book a 4-star rating.

Rachel ahs always found the Mr Wrong and never Mr Right but while drowning her sorrows from the latest disaster of the dating game she runs into Miguel again and the sparks fly again like the first meeting of them. So when Miguel personnel prepares and cooks her meal the chemistry between them is off the charts.

Although Miguel sees Rachel and is instantly drawn to her, he himself has had horrors in the past and is not sure if he can commit his whole heart to her at the start, but as he gets to know her and the chemistry is sparking, can he trust her with his heart.

This is the second book in this series and although this is a series each book so far can be read as a stand alone story. Rachel and Miguel have chemistry jumping off the page but have both had heartbreak and failed relationship but can they put all that aside and trust each other. The story was compelling and gripping which draws you in and flows through these two beautiful characters.

The story is an uplifting one and offers an insight into the worlds of these two beautiful characters, also the secondary characters in the story add to the flow and will keep you reading to the end. I can’t wait to read the final book in this series.

The Book of Fears is a series of eight short stories; each one focusing on a different person and a specific phobia someone might have. Because of focuses on individualized triggers, this book could even be borderline scary for some people, but easy to skip that story and go on to the next. The stories included are:
-Let’s Go Home Wolfie (Autophobia- the fear of abandonement)
-Not In My House (Katsaridaphobia- the fear of cockroaches)
-I’ll Float Away (Lepidopterophobia- the fear of flying insects/butterflies)
-Friday the 13th (Paraskevidekatriaphobia- the fear of Friday the 13th)
-Deep Thoughts (Taphephobia- the fear of being buried alive)
-It’s All Fun and Games (Thanatophobia- the fear of death)
-Happy Anniversary (Ophidiophobia- the fear of snakes)
-Have You Seen My Wallet (Trypanophobia- the fear of needles)
I really enjoyed the idea and concept of this book, and the stories were very entertaining as well. I do wish the stories were longer, or more detailed. I am a horror nut some of the stories felt lacking, but for the everyday casual reader, this is a very nice compilation. I hope the author does a series-based set with this concept and makes more stories for more fears! If I had to pick the best story, I would say the one based on being buried alive. The least favorite would have been the one with aliens incorporated, because that threw off the “this could be real” feeling for me. The writing style flowed nicely and the stories were never TOO heavy. Other than that, definitely a neat book to pick up and worth the read.

This is the second book in the Match Made In Montana series. Even though it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone as it focuses on a different couple.
This is another slow burn romance which a western feel. It is also full of drama and angst that makes the read interesting and keeps the reader captivated. Their is age gap in this story as well which was a bit of a sticking point for our lead male character.
Ted Stirling works at the ranch and after losing his wife it was just the distraction he needed. While working there he hires a young kindergarden teacher to teach yoga to the guests.
Stephanie is so full of life and happiness that he can’t help but he drawn to her however the age difference stops him from moving forward or approaching her in a romantic way.
Stephanie on the other hand has had a long time crush on a Ted. The problem is that when she is around him she finds herself unable to speak more than a couple of words.
When Ted’s sister turns up with Ted’s niece, Ted is way out of his depth caring for her so he asks Stephanie for help. The more time they spend together the closer they get but the age still makes Ted put on the breaks.
When something happens it has them both realising just how short and fleeting life can be. Will that be enough for them to take a chance on each other? Will Ted be able to work through his grief and heartache to then be able to open himself up to love again. And will Stephanie finally get a chance to be with the man she has wanted for so long.

This is a really sweet romance which isn’t without its challenges. Ted and Stephanie are definitely a couple you want to find their happy ever after.

This book is by an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up by her. I enjoy her writing style and her ability to bring her character’s to life. She pulls you into the story with ease and keeps you turning pages to the end. This book is no different. It is a well written story about healing, second chances and the past comes to the present, pulling you back in. I enjoyed the characters and what they brought to the story. They are connectable, relatable and have great chemistry. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout which made the story easy to read and entertaining as well. A fast paced, hard to put down story that you don’t want to miss. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

Another enjoyable and engaging story in this series and once again I was hooked throughout. Sylvan Jones is a romance novelist and a ‘good’ girl whilst information-specialist TB is definitely a ‘bad’ boy. When the two meet their chemistry sizzles off the page, leading to some steamy scenes. TB and the team are hired by a wealthy Silicon Valley tech mogul when his daughter goes missing. She’s the fifth girl to have been taken from a local club, and the team must investigate to find her. It becomes personal for TB when Sylvan becomes the abductor’s next victim. Both of them are keeping secrets and must decide what to do when these are discovered. I found TB and Sylvan to be likeable and relatable characters and I liked how their relationship developed throughout the story. This fast paced story had plenty of drama, suspense and of course romance, which kept me happily turning the pages. I felt invested in TB and Sylvan’s relationship and was hoping they would get their HEA.

By Your Side is the first book in the Willowbrook Lake series by Ashley Erin. This is an emotional second chance contemporary romance with a small-town setting, new beginnings, grumpy/sunshine factor, endearing characters, Duel POV, finding love unexpectedly, and the healing power of love.
As expected from Ashley Erin, this is well-written, and there was a lot to like about the story. Especially the characters. Also, weaving plenty of emotion with her words- which gave the story extra depth and believability.
Rebuilding your life after devastating heartbreak isn’t easy, and Adeline feels like she will never love again. She had her chance, till it was snatched away from her. But with her home desperately needing some repairs, will the grumpy contractor she hires fix more than either of them bargained for? Well worth the read to find out.

I’m really loving Marika Ray’s writing, she’s becoming another favorite author of mine. This book was just the summer read I’d been looking for. Love the characters and banter. Dec helps Kenna heal from all the bad luck she’s been through, even in the beginning when she was grumpy and fighting him off. Kennas aunt seems like she was a fun character as well, and was wise to “tie them together” for a year.. As if she knew they’d grow to love each other. I couldn’t put this book down, and I’m looking forward to more from this author.

I have read several books by this author, and each one has been quite enjoyable in its own way. This story was a little different than previous ones, but it is actually one of my favorites now! It’s a pretty quick read to finish in your afternoon as well. I would love to see more like this from this author, perhaps even turning this into a series! From the very beginning, the characters were easily relatable and their relationships enjoyably quirky. I did feel that sometimes Heather unnecessarily disregarded her personal safety. But that does add to the suspense and mysterious circumstances. The paranormal fantasy theme woven through the book was incredible, and I loved the owl as they’re one of my absolute favorite animals. I am excited to pick up more by this author and hope to see more related to this book in the future!

What a fun, cozy mystery this is! A great way to start off this series too. While I’m not normally a fan of “talking animals”, I really enjoyed this read and look forward to the next book in this series. This author writes in such a way that you are hooked in and eagerly awaiting the next snafu that might occur. She also infuses a bit of mystery and humor into each story she writes. Ms. Montgomery is becoming a favorite to read!

I love this series! And yes like the little author blurb at the beginning you can read Stout of My League as a standalone. It’s so much better in succession with the books before it! The author brings the reader the story of the youngest and only female Brooks sibling. A character that is determined and has a plan for her life. A character who is driven crazy by her older brothers’ caveman ways. A character who stumbled upon something she wasn’t looking for. A character the reader will learn to love now that she’s the star of the show.
Lynn has a plan set. She wants to become a sports medicine physical therapist. And getting a job at the Arrows stadium could lead to a potential foot in the door of her dream job. However nothing is ever easy and there are always bumps in the road. In this case in part 1 that bump is Joey. The gorgeous shortstop of the Arrows. Of course she doesn’t know it. She may want to get into a career dealing with professional athletes, yet she is not a fan of sports. So she doesn’t know of him and though she’s drawn to him his caveman ways sends him packing.
Joey spent the last year thinking about Lynn “his one that got away.” Completely forgetting he put a bird in an ear to give her a chance at her dream. Till he heard her. He hasn’t forgotten a thing and he wants a second chance. But how to go about it? That plus she’d kill him if she knew he pulled some strings on her behalf. Deciding to bide his time and wait for her to come to him. Never easy and always having obstacles he’s convinced he will wear her down. Just one problem: she’s worried about it impacting her dream.
Will she go back to Joey?
Will Lynn find out about Joey’s hand in her internship?
How will her brothers feel about this relationship?
So many questions and tons of answers. The Brooks family is on to love. They are tight knit, yet no nonsense people. I want there to be more but there’s only one sibling left and he’s been with the neighbor’s daughter for a long time. But you never know, maybe we could get that story too! The nannies don’t mind, young beautiful women take on these nanny jobs, not because they love kids but they are hoping to snag a rich life… that is except Maya.
Maya truly adores children, in college for child psychology and wants to be a social worker she doesn’t much care for the games the rich like to play and keeps her head down… bit someone else has set foot in Diamond Valley and they are looking for their next trophy.
A serial killer is hunting rhe community torturing and killing in brutal ways and kidnapping others and they stay missing.. and the focus has turned on Emma
With Cole, the area detective , he and Maya will try to unravel the mystery of this child born serial killer before it’s too late and the gripping ride you will take in this story is not one you will soon forget.

I was intrigued by the book synopsis and wondered if there was a play on words at play. I could not have been more surprised when I began reading this book and found the story was told from multiple sides from characters Catherine ‘Cat’, a human and Zoe, the leader of the feral cat tribe, or at least her half of the Fairytale Forest amusement park. When Zoe decides to talk to Catherine in order to get her to follow her to a body near the front of the park, I was not expecting that.

Cat and her bestie, Gloria are a rare pair and both try to make the best out of working the night shift. They are funny and witty but I think Zoe may be a good match for a bit of witty sarcasm.

As I read through this mystery, I found myself glued to my seat. I really enjoyed all of the twists and turns as they try to solve the unknown.

Also I love the simplicity of the book cover. Great idea.

Book72/50 was 2.5 rounded to 3⭐️!

Honestly, I wasn’t a fan. This book is a collection of common fears/phobias. There’s eight stories with eight different people. Throughout the collection of phobias, these people are faced with their biggest fears. They must do what it takes to overcome them, or succumb to their fate of death by fear.

I believe this book is categorized as “horror”, but it wasn’t horrifying to me. There are MANY triggers and trigger warnings, so if you have triggers, beware. They are listed in the book.

Some of the fears and phobias are understandable and relatable, but I’ve yet to find a “horrifying” book that keeps me up at night. But, once again, I think I’m broken 🫠

If you’re interested in reading about phobias and how Individuals deal when faced with a life-or-death situation, this book is for you! But again, be mindful of the trigger warnings. I hope you enjoy!

Opposite Day for Dinopotamus is a fun children’s book with unique illustrations. It likely follows the book Dinopotamus Goes to School, but they are unique stories. Dinopotamus goes to school and the teacher declares today is Opposite Day! The teacher has some silly commands for the kids to enjoy, as well as some tricky requests to direct them toward fun learning. My son thought it was fun and silly that some of the words were written upside down, with fun fonts, and in quote bubbles from the children illustrations. The illustrations look like they were drawn in crayon, which is unique. Silly fun book for younger readers.

This is the sixth book in this series and can be read as a standalone, but it is my suggestion to start from the beginning.
This is Parker’s story and a very emotional one at that. This book had me hooked from the beginning and kept me turning pages throughout the entire book. This story dealt with addiction and consequences that come from not getting help. Parker and his sister had a traumatic upbringing that Parker hasn’t really dealt with. This story takes us on a rollercoaster of emotions as Parker tries not to lose everything and navigate how to deal with his past. I can’t say enough good things about this book. I have read other books by this author and I’m never disappointed. This is a must read that you won’t be able to put down and it will definitely make you want to read the entire series if you haven’t already. I highly recommend this book.

K. S. Gantt is a first time author for me so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I grew up reading King, Koontz, and many others, and absolutely love horror and suspense so I was really excited to read this book! While not detailing the phobias overtly in the stories, K. S. Gantt does a great job telling the story in such a way that the fear is presented but much is left to the reader’s imagination (and that is often the most scary place of all)! I love that each phobia was briefly explained prior to the start of the story so the reader would know what was to come. While some of the stories were not really my cup of tea, some of the others really put me in a horror kind of mood! I felt like some of the stories could be continued as well (ending on a little bit of a cliffhanger, if you will). Overall, each of the eight stories is unique and well-written, with drama, suspense, intense fear, and lots of twists and turns. The characters are realistic and believable. I haven’t read much in the horror genre as of late, so The Book of Fears was just what I needed!

My son and I love reading Oscar and Emmy books together. They are fun and educational. While we live no where near the coast, and will likely never encounter a hurricane, we enjoyed Oscar and Emmy Weather a Hurricane. I like that after the story it has facts about hurricanes, so we can learn a little more. Abby and Charlie are preparing for a hurricane to hit their home town, and their parents engage them in helping prepare for their pets Oscar and Emmy as well. They also teach us about when to evacuate and move to somewhere safer. These books are wonderful for children to learn about the topic of the story, in a less scary way.

When the weight of the past is too heavy, Parker turns to drinking to escape. As the drinking gets worse he pushes those that mean the most to him away and he hits rock bottom and he can lose it all. Can he win his family back and prove he can be the man his daughter needs? This is a beautiful story of fight PTSD, personal growth, and most of all love. I had not read any other stories in this series and I followed along with no issues! It was an emotional story that I would read again and again.

Another cute story by this author!
This time it’s opposite day for Dinopotamus! He’s so excited to go and be a part. In this opposite day you are allowed to break the rules instead of following them… but only if you do it right!
This is a easily engaging story allowing children to explore their imagination and consequences of decisions and actions made with cute illustrations to keep the pages turning.
My daughter who’s 6 enjoyed this one immensely!

Stephanie is a kindergarten teacher during the school year and a yoga instructor at the Kincade Ranch during the tourist season. She loves living in Herd and being part of a community. Ted is the staff supervisor at the Kincade Ranch. Whenever Stephanie is near Ted, she can’t seem to speak, mainly because she has a huge crush on him! What Stephanie doesn’t realize is that Ted really likes her too but can’t figure out why Stephanie won’t talk to him. What can help these two finally connect? I’ll let you read the book to find out!
This is the second book in the Match Made in Montana Series. I enjoyed the story, had fun getting reacquainted with the main characters from the first book, and loved the story of Stephanie & Ted. Great characters and world building by the author.
