Give And Take (Thorne Brothers Series Book 2) by Lee Kilraine – Review by Karyn Taylor

Give and Take (The Thorne Brothers, #2)Give and Take by Lee Kilraine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Give and Take is the 2nd book in The Thorne Brothers Series by Lee Kilraine. There are 6 Thorne brothers and I’m sure that each will have their own book. Although the series revolves around the 6 brothers and their construction company Six Brothers Construction, each book can be read as a stand-alone. I hadn’t read the first book and did not feel that this hampered my enjoyment or understanding of this book.
The six brothers had an awful childhood and spent most of it split up and living with foster parent. They set up their company as a way of them all being together.
In Give and Take we have the story of youngest brother Wyatt. Wyatt feels that he owes his brothers so much as, being the youngest, he was shielded from much of the horrific life they lead. He is training to become an architect as this would save their company a lot of money and he feels that this is his way of paying his brothers back. When the brothers decide to help out a new company by giving them office space, we are introduced to Rhia Hollis. Rhia is everything that Wyatt is not. She’s loud, full of fun and a total scatter brain. It’s a match made in hell. She’s the family black sheep in a family full of scientists and she’s trying to prove to her family that she can be a successful business woman.
I loved reading Rhia and Wyatt’s story. Their interactions when they have to share an office are hysterical. They could not be any more different if they tried. I also loved the interactions of Wyatt’s brothers. The way that they do everything to get a rise out of him is so endearing.
I was gripped to this story right from the very beginning. I adore the characters in this book and really want to read the rest of this series to see what the author has in store for the rest of the brothers.

Siren Call (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 3) – Review by Karyn Taylor

Siren CallSiren Call by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Siren Call is the 3rd book in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series by Phoebe Alexander. It follows on from Fisher of Men and The Catch. Although it follows on from the first 2 books it can be read as a stand-alone. I would suggest that you do read the first 2, not because it will help with your understanding of this book, but purely because they are fantastic books. If you are going to read them all then I’d recommend reading them in order as the story will flow much better that way. As with the first 2 books this is a very erotic read. It is also the first time that I have read a F/F book. I was unsure how I’d enjoy this. I will say that I did enjoy this book but not quite as much as the first 2. Not saying that this is not a good book, it’s a great book.
Our main heroine Jessie is a cop with a heart of gold. Everything she does is aimed at making life better for others. The owners of the swing club she is a member of have asked her to look out for another member, Sirena, as they are worried about her. In trying to get close to Sirena and to find out her story, Jessie becomes more and more attracted to Sirena. She soon realises that there is a lot more to Sirena’s story than she would ever have imagined.
There is so much more drama an intrigue in this book which keeps you gripped to find out just what Sirena’s story is. I have to admit that I really didn’t like Sirena through most of the book but I adored Jessie. She was an amazing character.
I’ve loved this series so far and I’m now looking forward to reading the next instalment to see what the author has in store for all these characters.

The Catch (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 2) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Karyn Taylor

The CatchThe Catch by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Catch by Phoebe Alexander is the 2nd book in The Eastern Shore Swingers Series. It follows on from Fisher of Men but can be read as a stand-alone. Fisher of Men totally blew me away as it was nothing like anything I’d ever read before and The Catch is no different. Set around a swinger club you would expect a lot of sex in the book, but the sex scenes are totally of the charts HOT. My eyes have been totally opened by this series of books. There is so much more to the swinger lifestyle than I even knew possible.
This story centres around Assistant Manager of the club (The Factory) Paisley Parker and Calvin Mitchell who she hires to design a website for the club. Paisley is a larger than life character in many ways. She is a larger lady who is so comfortable in her own body. I have to say that I admire Paisley so much for her attitude towards her larger body. She’s very much ‘if you’ve got it, flaunt it’. Paisley has a troubled past and has moved away from home and changed her name to start her life afresh.
Calvin is very much the opposite to Paisley. Son of an African American father and white mother, Calvin had a fantastic childhood, brought up in a loving family. Calvin is very much a gentleman with impeccable manners and has no interest in being involved in the lifestyle.
When someone from Paisley’s past contacts her to blackmail her through the website that Calvin created, the 2 are forced together. Both are attracted to each other but whereas Calvin is looking for a monogamous relationship, Paisley doesn’t do relationships and is actively involved in the lifestyle and enjoys having several sexual partners with no strings attached.
This is an amazing story filled with drama and intrigue as they try to get to the bottom of who is blackmailing Paisley and threatening the club. The growing relationship between Paisley and Calvin is filled with so much angst. Although they are so different you can’t help but pray that they can resolve their differences and have a happily ever after.
I loved this book as much as the first book in the series and I’m now looking forward to diving into book 3, Siren Call.

Credence Woods by Alexandria Sure – Review by Karyn Taylor

Credence WoodsCredence Woods by Alexandria Sure
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Credence Woods by Alexandria Sure is a beautifully written love story. It’s most definitely an ‘opposites attract’ story. You could never imagine these 2 characters being together. I was totally drawn to the story from the very beginning and devoured the whole book in one sitting.
Kennedy Hewson is a high flying sales executive buying industrial properties and selling them on. She’s a total workaholic, city girl. Kennedy has previously undergone weight loss surgery and is now a shadow of her former self, although since losing the weight she still struggles with confidence and sees herself as a ‘fat’ person. While on a working trip to Tennessee, Kennedy has a car crash and is rescued by handsome local Max. Max takes Kennedy to his home to look after her and there is an attraction between them.
This is a beautiful story which portrays Kennedy’s journey to deal with her issues around her weight and her growing feelings for Max. Max who lives in a different state (a different world really!) who couldn’t be any more different from Kennedy if tried.
Can Kennedy overcome her self-confidence issues and realise that she is desirable? Can she give up the high powered city job that she has to live in the country? Will Kennedy and Max get the happily ever after that they both deserve so much? These and so many other questions are answered in this gorgeous story that I thoroughly recommend to others.
Before finishing this review I must add that there are some amazing side characters who add so much to this story, none more so than Kennedy’s personal assistant Hank. Hank is truly awesome. Everyone needs a Hank in their life!

Fisher Of Men (The Eastern Shore Swingers Series Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Karyn Taylor

Fisher of MenFisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WOW!! What can I say about Fisher Of Men by Phoebe Alexander? Fisher Of Men is the first book in The Eastern Shore Swingers Series and what an opener to the series it is. This book is on fire it’s that hot.
Fisher Of Men tells us the story of Chris ‘Cap’ Sheldon and Leah Miller. Chris and Leah couldn’t be any more different it they tried. 27 year old Leah had a very strict religious upbringing in Nebraska, being the daughter of a minister. She has very firm religious beliefs. She is now working as a manager in an upscale hotel ‘The Pearl’ in Ocean City. It is while working at a charity event in the hotel that she first meets Cap. Cap is a 42 year old, divorcee who runs a fishing business. Leah discovers that Cap and all those attending the charity event are swingers. As much as she’s attracted to Cap (who can’t love his amazing blue eyes and dimples?) swinging goes against everything that she believes in.
What follows is a beautifully written story of Leah’s sexual awakening. We can really see her struggles with her religious beliefs and by how turned on and exhilarated she feels by watching and participating in sexual encounters with several people at a time. It also shows us how 2 people with such different backgrounds and beliefs can overcome everything to find true love.
I must add that this book is definitely for a mature audience due to the sexually explicit content. I have to say that the sex scenes in this book were hotter than anything I’ve ever read.
This isn’t the first time I’ve read work by this author and I have to say that I’m becoming a huge fan. If this first book in the series is anything to go by then I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. I already have books 2 & 3 waiting on my kindle for me to dive into.

The Boss Man (The Manly Series Book 4) by Teddy Hester – Review by Karyn Taylor

The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4)The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel by Teddy Hester
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Boss Man is the 4th book in The Manly Series by Teddy Hester. This novel is described by the author as a contemporary romantic suspense novel. This series of books are standalones and can be read in any order. I had not previously read any of this authors work and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Our 2 main characters Jack DePaul and Jillian Vickers are fantastic characters that really draw you in to their story. Jillian feels smothered by her father and 2 brothers and is determined to prove to them that she is a smart independent woman who doesn’t need them meddling in everything she does.
Jack DePaul owns his own construction company and has been drafted in to get a huge project delivered on time. Jillian wants to write an article about his company and the work they are doing. Jack makes her become part of his crew to get her story.
The chemistry between them is sizzling and they both try their hardest to keep things professional. Jack needs to concentrate on the job and doesn’t need the distraction of a woman preventing him from getting the job done on time. Once they give in to the attraction between them, nothing runs smoothly. There are so many obstacles in their way, most notably Felix who works for the company that Jack is doing the work for. He also happens to be a close friend of her brothers and doesn’t think Jack is good enough for her.
It’s a fascinating read and the plot will keep you gripped right up to the very end. If this story is anything to go by then I’d really like to read more of this author’s work.

Summer Fling by Tarrah Anders – review by Karyn Taylor

Summer FlingSummer Fling by Tarrah Anders
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summer Fling by Tarrah Anders is an adult contemporary romance with fantastic characters. I was hooked on the story from the very beginning and it did not disappoint at all.
Living in a tourist area where she co-owns a shop, Emma has sworn off having relationships with any tourists as her previous encounters have not ended well and she’s not prepared to have her heart broken again.
When Royce appears at the start of the summer season, Emma doesn’t trust his proclamation that he’s planning to stay there, put down roots and open his own veterinary practice.
While there is obvious attraction between the two of them, Emma has her guard up as she’s not convinced that he is there to stay. As a small business owner herself, Emma gives lots of help and advice to Royce to help get his business up and running. As they spend more time together they become closer and Emma starts to let her walls down and lets Royce in.
Just as things are going well for the couple Royce’s ex wife does everything she can to split the couple up. She wants Royce back and will do anything to get her way.
Will Royce and Emma overcome all the obstacles in their way and get the HEA that they both deserve? I was certainly rooting for them. I really loved the relationship that they had between them.
I thoroughly recommend this book to other readers.

Georgia Clay (Southern Promises Book 1) – Review by Karyn Taylor

Georgia Clay (Southern Promises, #1)Georgia Clay by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Georgia Clay by K.G. Fletcher is the first book in the Southern Promises Series. This is the first book that I have read by this author and if this book is a true indication of their work then I’ll certainly be reading more.
Katie and Clay meet again at their high school reunion 10 years after leaving high school. Katie remembers Clay as a very quiet, shy boy who only came alive when he sang at a school concert. Clay had a huge crush on Katie at high school. Now Katie is very successful in her job in insurance and Clay is now an award winning singer songwriter in Nashville. Both of them are so busy with their careers that there is no room in their lives for any social life or for romance. However Clay realises that his crush on Katie has not gone away and Katie is definitely attracted to Clay.
This is a very well written romance novel with fantastic characters that you can connect with and will fall in love with. I have to admit that Clay is an awesome character. He’s got everything you would want in a man. He may still be quite a shy person but he’s a totally different animal in the bedroom. There are some rather steamy encounters between our 2 main characters. Of course, the path to true love never runs smoothly and there are some obstacles in the way. How will Katie and Clay overcome these and get their HEA? I can assure you that if you choose to read this book, you will not be disappointed.
We are also introduced to some intriguing secondary characters that will be getting their own story told in future and I can’t wait to see what K.G. Fletcher has in store for us next.

Arctic Fire (Fortis Security Book 6) – Review by Karyn Taylor

Arctic Fire (Fortis Security, #6)Arctic Fire by Maddie Wade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Arctic Fire is another 5 star read by Maddie Wade. I have only read a couple of her books so far but all have been 5 star reads. Arctic Fire is the 6th book in the Fortis Security Series. Each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone. Although all the couples from books 1-5 appear in this book, it does not matter if you have not read them. I had not read any of the other books from this series and it did not spoil my enjoyment of this one. All it did was make me want to go back and read books 1-5.
Maddie Wade writes amazing characters and lets you get right into their heads and feel everything along with them. Roz and Kanan (K) in this book are no different. Roz is the head of Zenobi, a group of female assassins who is out to kill Usov, an evil man who she was forced to marry but has now escaped from. Kanan Phillips is a former MI6 agent who now works for Fortis Security. 15 years previously Kanan had rescued Roz and fell in love with her although Roz does not remember this. A chance meeting years later sees Roz and Kanan spend an idyllic couple of months together before Roz disappeared.
Now Roz is working alongside Fortis to save a group of girls held captive by Usov and with the intention to kill Usov. Can Roz work alongside Kanan? Will she tell him why she disappeared and left him? Will she give in and admit that she is still in love with Kanan?
The chemistry between Roz and Kanan is on fire. I love how well written these 2 characters are. As the story is written from more than one point of view, we get to see what is going through both of their heads. I loved seeing Roz’s struggle to show that she was strong and did not need Kanan but at the same time fight with her feelings for him.
This book has everything you could want in a book. It is full of action and suspense which keep you gripped from beginning to end. Added to this is the romance between Roz and Kanan with its so many ups and downs. You just can’t help but hope that there is a HEA for Roz and Kanan.

Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield – Review by Karyn Taylor

InescapableInescapable by C.J. Fallowfield
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield
WOW!! What can I say? Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield was a totally awesome read. I LOVED it!
C.J. Fallowfield chose a very difficult topic in domestic abuse and did an amazing job of dealing with it. The scenes of abuse against Izzie were harrowing and could possibly act as a trigger for those who have suffered domestic abuse in their past. However Izzie is one of the most resilient characters I’ve ever read. Her escape from her abuser and starting a new life as Alex Bishop had me gripped from start to finish.
When Tate Castle came into Alex Bishop’s life both were trying to come to terms with their pasts, which resulted in both of them being unwilling to let anyone into their lives, so it was a massive shock to both when there was an instant attraction and connection between the two of them.
Could Tate be the man to break down the barriers around Alex’s heart? Also, could Alex be the woman to break down Tate’s barriers? With her new life and new name is Alex free from the horror of Richard who had abused her and kept her prisoner at home for 10 years?
This book makes you feel every emotion possible. I laughed, I cried, I was filled with anger, I was scared. This story is full of suspense and you will not want to put it down. I devoured it in one day.
This was my first time reading C.J. Fallowfield and if this is any indicator of their work, then it will be the first of many.

Tuesdays At Six (Sunday Love Book 3) by K.J. Lewis – Review by Karyn Taylor

Tuesdays at 6 (Sunday Love, #3)Tuesdays at 6 by K.J. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One word. WOW!
Either I have turned into a major sop or authors are getting better at writing awesome emotional stories. This was yet another book that had me in tears. This one more so than any of the others I’ve read recently. KJ Lewis has done an amazing job at grabbing you in all the feels.
Walt Nelson’s world was turned upside down when his best friends died and left him as guardian for their two daughters Zinnie and Poppy. Walt had no intentions of ever having children and now here he is as guardian of grieving 15 year old Zinnie and 5 year old Poppy.
Samantha Abbott works as a PA for Walt’s brother Finn but is looking for a new job and somewhere to live. Finn talks Walt into giving Sam a trial as a live in nanny.
This is an emotional story of the trials and tribulations of dealing with grief and also Walt and Sam’s growing attraction to each other. Added to the mix are Walt’s bunch of guy friends and Sam’s group of girls. These additional characters add much to the story as they help Walt and Sam with the girls.
Tuesdays at Six is the third novel in the Sunday Love series but can be read as a standalone. I had not read the first two books and didn’t feel that any of the story was missing as a result. However, having LOVED this book so much I will definitely be reading the others in the series.
This is a MUST read. The story is beautiful and emotional and takes you on an amazing journey.
