Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite Book 7) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Kay Stritesky

Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite #7)Wicked Games by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Wicked Games is the seventh book in the Hidden Valley Elite Series. At this point I’m invested, I have to keep reading but sometimes the stories feel forced. This one has picked up since the last one. The ending of the last one allowed this one to start with the reader on the edge of their seat. The characters are nice but I think need a tad bit more development. At times the interactions seem forced. Overall it was a huge improvement since the last book!

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series #3)Beyond Friendship by Marlyn Love
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Beyond Friendship is a very cute read that I felt kept me engaged throughout the entire book. The. characters were well developed and relatable to people we all know!
While part of a series this could also be read by itself.
Make sure to have Kleenex handy!

Chasing Cheer was a cute seasonal read. It was easy to read but I felt like it was missing the hook to really bring me in! I just wanted a little more. The characters were wonderful and it was definitely a nice time of year read.

Mr Wimp (The Human Mating Site #1)Mr Wimp by B.L. Wilde
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Mr Wimp was a short cute read however I was hoping for me of a glimpse at the her relationship with Mr Right Now.
Bella is living every women’s worst fears, her husband blind sided her with asking for a divorce and she learns not only is he cheating on her but he found a woman with the exact same name! A little weird if you ask me!!
Bella goes through the motions of leaning on her friends and finding herself again including her first post marriage hookup! But in this novella we learn nothing about the hookup!

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite Book 6) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Kay Stritesky

Cruel Love: A College Sports Romance (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love: A College Sports Romance by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The last installment from Cruel Start and Cruel Hate, Cruel Love fell flat for me! When I finished Cruel Hate I really had high hopes as the series had picked up for me but the story line of Cruel Love didn’t capture my attention as I had hoped! The awkward plot of Pheonix being fourteen and everyone keeping secrets from him just wasn’t the hook I personally needed. There was a slow build up to the end but not anything that really blew my mind!
Cruel Love also ends on a hook in hopes to get readers to continue on with the brother, Shane’s story.

Cruel Hate: A College Sports Romance (Hidden Valley Elite #5)Cruel Hate: A College Sports Romance by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was significantly better than the book before it Cruel Start. I was very hesitant to read this after my feelings for the first book but I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it with a few things bugging me! There were some parts that seemed dragged out and forced but overall it was a fun easy read.

Cruel Start (Hidden Valley Elite #4.5)Cruel Start by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Cruel Start in my opinion could have just been apart of the next book Cruel Hate. It’s very short with a plot that ends as soon as it starts. Had I known just what I was getting myself into I might have passed. I am reading the next book which has more promise but overall disappointed in the start to the series!

Wild For Me (The Balefire Series Book 3) by Tam DeRudder Jackson – Review by Kay Stritesky

Wild For Me (Balefire, #3)Wild For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Wild For Me was a good read. While I have not read the previous books in this series I did not feel like I was missing much. It can be read as a stand alone. I think at this point we have all read enough romance novels to know what’s going to happen however the characters were nice and the plot kept my attention! The spice level was stepped up in this book. My biggest issue which is why I keep going between three or four star rating is the manager in this book. The band knows they have a manager who is sexually harassing people borderline sexual assault and nothing is done about it. The band says oh he’s a good manager. It made my blood boil the entire time I was reading it!

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a cute read however it felt a little forced!
There definitely was a point where it was dragged out and the book could have ended, the dialogue especially with the aunt was forced and awkward. This was an easy read that would be a good YA starter.

Cabin Eight (The Millersville series)Cabin Eight by Susan Specht Oram
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I think we all know someone like Miranda, does she ask for all the bad or does it just follow her? Is this karma for a former life?
This story while part of a series can be read by itself and it still makes sense. I really liked the story but felt like something was missing. At times first person presence tense made it hard to read but over all it wasn’t bad!

I really enjoyed reading this thriller! It was a nice change of pace and very excellently wrote. The plot was something to hold on to and keep the pages turning! While part of a series this reads very well even by itself.
Each character was developed and well written at no time did it feel like one character was more important than any other. I cannot say enough good things about this book!

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

While it was steamy as to be expected I do still like a plot to what I’m reading and this one fell a little short. At times the plot didn’t make real sense and felt secondary to the spice. I would be willing to try more by this author as I always like a redemption! Be prepared this is all for the spice!

Just One Time (Beaumont Creek, #1)Just One Time by Samantha Baca
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Just One Time is a cute book about best friends set in a small town!
The characters are lovely and the story is easy to follow however for me it was missing something. It followed the usual romance timelines and of course there was a miscommunication that leads to a fight but I needed something different from this!

I really enjoyed this read! The characters were sweet and felt like someone we all know in real life. The prank war was funny and had me thinking of ways my friends and I prank each other! The story line kept moving and didn’t feel stale. This definitely was not like a romance book I had read before and I really enjoyed that!

After having read other books in the Pierce Brothers series I was pretty excited to read this one. For me Cry Baby fell a bit short. It didn’t quite have the hook I was looking for and it moved slow. Belinda Williams is a great author! I’m sure I will find another book by her that brings me back in!

Straight for the Kill (Benoit and Dayne Mystery, #3)Straight for the Kill by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The characters are great and the chemistry between all of them can be felt coming off the pages. This particular installment of these series was a fun read but at times felt a little drawn out and it took away from the story! The small town is rocked by murders that relate to a twenty five year old case, can the connection be made? Can the killer be caught? Its worth the read.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a good read however I think it needed more of storyline. While I understand the plus size story line in LA the book either focused on that or too heavily on the details of the relationship. I was looking for more of a plot! Stella made the very best out of what could have been a very awful situation!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Overall this was a very good book. The plot moved along that it did not become stale but had twist and turns so that it wasn’t easy for the reader to guess.
The beginning started out just a little confusing, I think more context was needed but that was very easy to overcome! Even having not read the first one it did not take away from this book!

It was a very nice read and even though it was set in the old time, the dialogue wasn’t over powering and still made it able to read. The characters (some of them) were lovely however I felt like it needed more especially in the ending. Parts were very well written and explained and some parts really fell flat. I’m hoping a sequel is next to tie up lose ends!

If I had a sister in law like in this book it would be a murder mystery book haha!

This was a nice easy read! Of course to have a love story there’s a happy ending but I wanted more, I felt like something was missing as I read. I dont know if it was more back story but the story felt very forced. The characters were great but more development could have been for both! Over all a good love story if you like an ending you expect!
