Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers Book 1) by Belinda Williams – Review by Kay Stritesky

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers, #1)Mr. Nice Guy by Belinda Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a fantastic read! I haven’t read Belinda Williams before but this was a great series to start with!
Belinda allows readers to feel like they are living the story with the characters. The characters are well written and relate to someone we all know! Its easy to get attached, pick sides and live vicariously through each character.
Chelsea is that girl we all know. Bad boys are her style and she doesn’t understand why each one is worse than the last.
Tom is the nice guy that everyone is friends with but never really sees. He’s the genuine nice guy.
So what happens when a friends suggests the nice guy show Chelsea what she’s missing?!? Belinda takes us through every step of the story and leaves us wanting more!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a very cute coming of age story! The characters were lovable and the family dynamic was relatable. Everyone remembers those awkward coming of age years but to add baking that immensely messes with peoples feelings to the mix, who would have thought!
Throughout the story you find yourself wanting to know more background on each characters and longing to understand how each character fits into the story! The author did a great job of keeping the readers attention!
The only complaint is I wish the author would have incorporated the pretzels more that were so important in the beginning!

The Scent of Gardenias by Lorraine Haas – Review by Kay Stritesky

The Scent of GardeniasThe Scent of Gardenias by Lorraine Haas
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Scent of Gardenias was a well written piece of historical fiction. I’m sure for someone who really gets into this genre the rating would be different but for me a few things were lacking.
Lets start with the positives, This was a wonderful coming of age story that showed what a lot of people in the pre, during, and post WWII era really went through. It also shows the struggle people in that era lived. Margaret has a dream to be a nurse that I connect with on a very personal level. And she knows she can do more and be more! There was such promise to this story that you keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Now for me what took away from this being a 5 star book. As we all come of age, part of that experience is owning our actions and growing from the situations we have been placed in. While it is important to know the main character went through a terrible and abusive relationship with her husband as you move on you can not always be the victim and in this story there is no growth from her. Another important lack for me was that it seemed as I read chunks of time were missing and for me it greatly took away from the story!

Overall this was a well written novel and especially if someone is in to historical fiction. If you are just looking for a good read without delving into and directing it I recommend reading this book!

Everything to Me (Playing for Keeps Book 2) by Lauren Fraser – Review by Kay Stritesky

Everything to Me (Playing for Keeps Book 2)Everything to Me by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really did enjoy this book however I think we could have been given more!
Kendall is amazing. Its refreshing to have a strong female character that knows what she wants and goes after it versus being the damsel in distress. Kendall knows where she stands and doesn’t need anyones approval!
Pete is everything Kendall can ask for but there’s one problem. She’s the best friends little sister, how does that work?!? Is it worth the risk? Can it really work?
Pete doesn’t catch on as fast as we would like him to but if he caught on right away we wouldn’t have a story!
I do wish the scenes were a little steamier!

In this short cute read we follow the story of enemies to lovers. Can two people really overcome all the obstacles? Can two people both chasing a goal different from each other put that aside?
The author does a very good job of bringing us into the story, making us feel like we are there in Georgia in the heart of the story! This was a nice, fun, easy to read book that really made you rethink what you know!

Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books 1-5) by KG Fletcher – Review by Kay Stritesky

Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books 1-5)Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reigning Hearts is a cute series of five stand alone books that together make you lose yourself in other peoples stories!
Each book is heartfelt, with wonderful characters! Together all of these books “fit” but each one is special by itself.
Book 1: Run to the Sea, follow friends find that coveted more than friends place to be!
Book 2: Stars fall from the Sky, do second chances really exist?
Book 3:A sun so bright, can enemies find a common ground and become lovers?
Book 4: I’ll see you again, the person who is opposite of everything you are can they be the one?
Book 5: A cold creek Christmas, follow the single dad as happiness ever after tempts fate!

The author was so capable of bring each of these to life. Characters flew off the pages and I yearned to know more about each story!

If I had to choose a personal favorite, Book 5 pulled at my heartstrings and had me most engrossed!

This book was everything you could ask for! It was well written, it was cute and the story was adorable! My only complaint is I WANTED MORE!!! Amy’s Santa had me wanting more and loving the story I read all at the same time. The book rotates perspectives and truly pulls you in and makes each character feel like family. As we read we age with the characters and we are able to feel like we are there inside the compound rooting for the happy ending.
Amy is kind and caring and has a heart of gold to know that something isn’t right has you wanting to jump parts of the book to find out what happened.

Until there was youUntil there was you by G. Colgrove
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I do not usually give books 5 stars because it is hard to write the perfect book, however G. Colgrove has managed to captivate me from the first page!

These characters are relatable and so easy to fall in love with. Let’s face it almost everyone has thought they were cursed in love at one point or another. I could not put this book down, I loved the story and wanted so much more but the story was complete just the way it was! From the time you meet the characters until the book is over you live the story with them. The author does a fantastic job of keeping you invested!
