“Cursed Whispers” is a multifaceted book. It touches on various issues that are personal to a large part of the population. This book took my feelings on a rollercoaster ride. Max is a vet with magical communication skills. Claudia has been to hell and back, and needs to return again. The story focuses on two very different families who have been through so much, but still drop everything to help one another. Read this book if you like drama, support, strength, and love. There are a lot of books circulating about werewolves and vampires. However, this book had a unique spin on it. Are they meant for one another? “An Unexpected Bonding” really drew my attention because of the dynamic between the characters and their particular species. I loved this book! Adorable! I didn’t read the previous books in the series, but it wasn’t really necessary. I could follow the story in this book alone. Such a cute romance novel. The writing was awesome and I really lost myself in this book. Read this book if you love a good romance story.

Safe Harbor: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 5 AUDIO BOOK by Valerie Davisson – Review by Kayla Octaviano

This book was so good. I don’t normally read books with a mystery or killer complex involved, but this book was really good. The narrator really brought the story to life. The writing was great and kept me on my toes at all times.

My Sweet GI AUDIO BOOK by T.L Wainwright – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Four Stars! Loved this book!

My Sweet GI is a story about a young girl growing up in a small city where everything is copacetic. Everybody goes to church, everybody dresses the same, and everyone has the same ideals. When a group of soldiers from America are stationed in this little town, it turns it upside down. All the young women are enthused and all of the mothers and fathers are stressed. This story dives into a world of romance, naivety, temptation, and consequences. I personally got so lost in this story, I felt like I was in it. The narrator has a great accent and the writing is precious. Read this book if you are looking for a cute story about first love and it’s repercussions.

The Inheritance, The Story of an Unlikely Submissive AUDIO BOOK by India Kells – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Five Stars!

This is a book you can get lost in. At first, the premise feels a little uncomfortable, but the more you listen, the more you want to hear. “The Inheritance” had me feeling good things and bad for both Lani and Max. This book is a must read if you like unconventional relationships, mysterious guessing games, and scenes that will make you wonder if anybody else can hear the book you’re listening too!

Alpha Bet Guys Boxed Set by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Alpha Bet Guys Boxed SetAlpha Bet Guys Boxed Set by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this series. There are five books, and each is about 100 pages each. They are so fun and exciting to read! This box set is made up of the five of the most adorable, distinct, and badass love stories you will read. So read them all. Trust me. You won’t regret it! The characters are well developed, relatable, and make the stories worth reading.

BOOK #1: A HOLE
“A-Hole” is about Ace, the new found comedian, and Ella, the fresh new bank teller, who struggle through present courtship. The friendship between Ace and his friends and Ella and her friends delve into the similarities and differences between men and women when running in packs. Will love be found? Or will reputations ruin everything? I recommend this book to anybody who loves smiling and witty banter. A book just isn’t a romance novel without it.

BOOK #2: THE BIG O
I never thought Chemistry would be such a large part in a romance novel, but I stand corrected. This story is adorable, romantic, and exciting all at the same time. These characters are not only cute, but also extremely smart. If you like corny chemistry jokes, this is the book for you!

BOOK #3: NEED THE D
This book moves fast, so be ready. “Need the D” focuses on Dante, the third of the five men. Dante is in advertising and is quite the player. But this is the story of his rise to responsibility in many different ways. Read this book! It’s hot, emotional, and stressful all in one. It is adulthood.

BOOK #4: HARD F
Fox’s story was above all, the craziest. His bet was the craziest! If you only want to read one book, read this one! It has socioeconomic themes, the main character matures and grows a significant amount as a person, and there is a strong female heroine! How can this story get any better?!

BOOK #5: RIDE THE C
This was the perfect book to sum up the box set. I loved it! It’s a love story you’ve never heard before. Cruz is a male model who has just started dealing with the real model issue of aging. He goes through an emotional maturing process, love is created, and personas are shattered. “Ride the C” was my favorite book of the whole series! But it means so much more attached to the end of the other four stories.

Kissing the Kavalier by Annette Nauraine – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Kissing the KavalierKissing the Kavalier by Annette Nauraine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Kissing the Kavalier” follows two sisters, Zdenka and Arabella, through the throes of society. Arabella needs to find a rich husband who she hopefully loves, or will grow to love, to save her family from their impending homelessness. Zdenka must help by dressing as a boy to escort her sister to all the events of the season. Along the way, these women run into a man named Matteo, a soldier who has been affected by the war, just as many soldiers seem to be. He’s an honorable man that doubts the honor of his past. As friendships build, lovers fall and all is lost. But can it be found? Together, these characters figure out what love can make you do, how far it will take you, and how it is needed for forgiveness. This story is full of love and pain that finds an equal balance, but at what risk? Soldiers are highlighted in this book, but as are women’s rights and independence. Read this book if you love romance and the pain people must go through to get it.

Shift Happens (New Orleans Nocturnes Book Two) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by KAYLA OCTAVIANO

FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS!

I loved this book. I was laughing the entire time it was being read to me. Audiobooks are great because you can multitask while they are being read to you. “Shift Happens” was so good, I would rewind it just to be sure I didn’t miss anything! It kept me smiling and upbeat the entire time. Also, the narrator of this book makes the characters come to life with her accents and change in tone when reading quotes. I listened to the first book in the “New Orleans Nocturnes” series, and when I saw the second one available, I was so excited to listen to it! This author writes in such a modern tone that it makes me feel like I’m living it. I look forward to reading and listening to more books by Carrie Pulkinen.

Loyalty & Lies (Spicetopia Book 6) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Loyalty & LiesLoyalty & Lies by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve never read a Spicetopia novel before, but this one blew my mind. It was never predictable and always exhilarating! It follows a lovely married couple who understands each other’s sexual desires and fantasies. Calvin and Paisley love each other dearly and take a vacation to Spicetopia to celebrate for the last time before becoming parents. The love they share is pure, but this trip tests their relationship in ways I’m sure they never thought possible. The story is exciting, enticing, and extremely addicting. I read it in two days. And sleeping in the middle was a challenge! I would recommend for all adults who are open minded and love a good read. I can’t wait to read the other books and series by this author!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve never really liked short stories because I never felt like there was enough in them. “10 Days” in a wonderful book to read if you want a quick read because you are not ready to dedicate your time to a series. This book is practically a movie that you read. Luke is adorable and everybody will love him. Penny is a strong heroin who makes us women proud. As a journalist, she has to be. She’s also sensitive and empathetic and goes through hard times. Alex is a smart and very emotional writer who has to learn everything the hard way. Climbing The Walls (Hart & Cole Book 1) by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Climbing The Walls (Hart & Cole Book 1)Climbing The Walls by Sacha T.Y. Fortuné
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Climbing the Walls” is about a family that has grown into its dysfunction. Therefore, they don’t see it until it is too late. Most of us who read romance novels are used to reading about our characters meeting someone new, or realizing it was their best friend all along. This story is different because it takes place after all of the romance, exploration, and realizations. It shows how easily things can fall apart when, all along, it all looked perfect. The characters are exciting, the plot is riveting, and the story line always thickens. This is a story about a family whose whole lifestyle is on the line. I could see this book becoming a movie, and really good one at that!

Where Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Where Flowers BloomWhere Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Where Flowers Bloom” is a very unique story about two brave women’s lives, one past and one present, that were destined to be told simultaneously. Both women find love, but lose themselves in the process.

Nikki Vale’s writing is fun to read and extremely hard to put down. I actually read 1/3 of the book in one day.

The realistic historical accounts made the supernatural aspect of her book valid and inspired. Kendyll and Rose’s stories are beautifully written and will entrap your attention until the end. The book is extremely well-rounded and I would recommend it to anybody who would love an addicting book that keeps you guessing.

Cursed Sight (Broderick Coven Series Book 2) by AJ Renee – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Cursed Sight (Broderick Coven, #2)Cursed Sight by A.J. Renee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Cursed Sight” was a great novel to read if you like magic, romance, and thrill. I wish I had read the first book first, however, the story was still able to be followed and the characters known without the first book. The characters were well developed and had a great dynamic between them. I look forward to reading the first book in the series, and the next one that comes out this year. The author’s writing style is comfortable to read and it entices you to come back for more. This book kept me on edge. And to be honest, most books I read are predictable. I loved that this one was not. If you enjoy family dynamics, unwavering love, and awesome witch magic, I would suggest you read this book.

Crave (Clark Family Series Book 1)Crave by Evelyn Sola
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Crave” is a soap opera in book form. The romance is strong and sexy, the families are strong and crazy, and the characters are strong and stubborn. This book was one of my favorite romance novels by far. It was funny, addicting, and filled with hot, lusty love scenes. The fact that the relationship was one that deals with race and different backgrounds is a wonderful touch to this book. The family’s interactions with each other and the main characters were priceless. The different relationships happening between families makes this book relatable to everyone. I loved this book and I recommend it to anyone who loves drama. In this book, all are welcome, and there’s something in it for everybody.

License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Three Stars Review

This book took me by surprise. I was expecting a cliché vampire society, a self-absorbed woman, and a ridiculous romance that came to pass in obvious ways. I was surprised by how wonderful this book was. It made me laugh. The narrators accents are hilarious and fit the story perfectly. I love the location of the story, it fits it so well, it feels like this story wouldn’t belong anywhere else. The romance was slow to come, but the passion was present from the beginning. Honestly, the pop culture references made me laugh the hardest. The characters are kind of eccentric, but they end up meshing together well. The best relationships are formed between complete opposite people. And the supernatural element is portrayed from a new point of view with new rules. Very clever.

Unbroken Vow by Bree M. Lewandowski – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Unbroken VowUnbroken Vow by Bree M. Lewandowski
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Unbroken Vow” is the type of book where you notice other people around you, in the real world, but you just cannot stop reading. This book has love, anguish, loyalty, devotion, and overwhelming bravery as its main ideals. The main characters are strong-willed and beautiful, and it’s an honor to get to travel their world with them. The beginning of the book sets the tone for the awe-striking story to take place. The writing is very descriptive and powerful, as if the feelings flow out of the pages. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance novel with main characters who make you laugh, cry, and love.
