SAFE HARBOR (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 5) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Kerry Baker

SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5(The Logan McKenna Series)SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Safe Harbor: A Logan McKenna Mystery by Valerie Davisson is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna Series. This book is just as good as the previous books and was brilliant to read. It can be read as a stand-alone however I would personally recommend reading the series in order to get a full understanding of the characters.
I enjoyed the fact that this one was just as intriguing as the others except this time we find Logan at the centre of it all as a suspect. It changed the dynamic of the story slightly and added an element to it I didn’t know was missing. I found myself reading this book quickly because I had to know what was going to happen. This really is a gripping series that is worth reading and I am looking forward to whatever might be next.

The Opposite of AddieThe Opposite of Addie by Julie C. Gardner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Opposite of Addie: A Novel by Julie C Gardner is a beautifully emotional story that utterly captivated my attention from the moment I started reading! I found myself completely swept away by these characters and their story and was engaged with them entirely.
I have to say that this book first caught my attention with the absolutely gorgeous cover. My eyes were just drawn to it and I knew straight away that I would have to read this book. Then when I read the description it shot straight to the top of my TBR pile. Once I started the book I was not disappointed at all as the story itself lived up to every expectation I had set for it. There was so much emotion in this book and the story was so deep and complex.
This author is a relatively new author to me but with books like this in her arsenal I will definitely be making sure to read as much of her work as possible. This is easily a 5* read and one I enjoyed immensely.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Big City Heat: A High-Rise Romance Anthology (A Steamy Contemporary Romance Box Set) is a collection of stories that will be sure to get your blood pumping! With a great selection of authors to choose from each and everyone of these stories brings something different to the anthology as a whole.
I liked the fact that with this anthology I got a mix of authors I was familiar with as well as ones I hadn’t read before. It meant that I knew going into it I would like at least some of the stories but it also gave the excitement of discovering new authors. Each book was different from the rest so it was easy to keep track of each of the individual stories. I liked the fact that I could pick it up and put it down between books without it feeling like it broke the overall feeling this series gave me.
I enjoyed each of the books in this anthology to varying degrees and overall I would say this is well worth your time! I am looking forward to reading more by each of these authors.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Breaking Tessa: A College Sport Romance by T. Christensen is a story of two opposites and what happens when their worlds collide unexpectedly. This book is an emotional rollercoaster that will leave you thinking about it long after you have finished reading the book.
I have only read a few books by this author but I have to say this one so far is my favourite. There was just something about Tessa and Jordan that drew me in completely and refused to let go. I instantly connected with their characters and I really felt like I was going on their journey with them! I enjoy the fact that this author doesn’t stick with the HEA type story and isn’t afraid to make you, as the reader, step a little outside of your comfort zone. It always makes the books feel more real.
This is an amazing book and one I enjoyed immensely from start to finish. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Wendigo Forest by C.A. King is yet another fantastic book by this author. It is a YA Novel about Clara and her family’s profession. From the moment I started reading this book I was drawn straight into the imaginative world the author has created. I could vividly picture everything she was describing and really became invested in the characters I was reading about. A Beach Wedding To Die For by Judy Moore is the second book in the Cozy Mysteries To Die For series. This can be read as a stand-alone book and does not have to be read in order.
It was great to be able to pick up this book and get back to the characters of Beck and her grandmother. They were such fun to read about in book 1 and just the same in this one. As with the first this is a great example of a whodunit story – it was fun trying to work out who I thought was the one!
This book was well written and exciting to read. It won’t me guessing throughout and even then I didn’t see the ending coming. It is a brilliant book and one I would highly recommend!

The Magic of ChristmasThe Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth is a fun, entertaining read with a little bit of Christmas sparkle thrown in for good measure. This is the perfect type of book to lose yourself in for an afternoon. It is a quick and easy story to read but one that captures your attention and keeps moving forward nicely.
I liked the pace of the book and how the author developed the characters. Rowan is one of those characters that I really didn’t take to immediately however by the end of the book I got the impression that you weren’t meant to. You got to see her develop throughout the book and grow to like her in a way that doesn’t happen very often. She was well suited to be with Jeremy and by the end I really liked them both together.
This was on overall enjoyable book with great characters. It is definitely worth adding to you TBR pile.

Tompkin's School: For The Resurrected (Supernatural Trilogy #3)Tompkin’s School: For The Resurrected by Tabi Slick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tompkins School: For The Resurrected by Tabi Slick is the third book in A Supernatural Academy Trilogy. Personally I do think you need to read these books in order to fully understand what is going on. This book is a great addition to the series. I loved getting back into the lives of the Twins and seeing what adventure they found themselves in the middle of this time.
As with the previous books I thought this one was exciting and interesting the whole way through. It took no time at all to get straight back into this world and familiarise myself with the characters that I have come to love. The author really knows how to keep the pages turning and the story alive from start to finish. It is a shame that this is the last in this series however I am excited to discover more of this authors work.

The History of the Universe: As My Soul and I Remember by Stuart Ledwith is an interesting and though provoking story that in all honesty I didn’t expect to enjoy so much. This type of book is completely out of my comfort zone but having read books by this author previously I decided to give it a go and I am glad that I did.
This whole book is a journey that you take and experience fully. You become invested easily and really find yourself engaging with the story. I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book but what I got was a well thought out, crafted story that really gets you thinking about things in a different way.
If you want to try something a little different to what you are used to or want to push the limits of what you normally read then I would certainly recommend you try this book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Key to Tirumfall by J Drew Brumbaugh is the third book in the Tirumfall Trilogy. This series does need to be read in order as it is a continuation of the same story throughout. This book is a fantastic conclusion to what has been an amazing series. Reading this book was just as exciting as when I started the series. I absolutely devoured reading this book as I just had to see how it was all going to end. Yet at the same time I really didn’t want to get there as it meant the end of this amazing series.

Age of Druids (Druid's Brooch #9)Age of Druids by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Age of Druids by Christy Nicholas is the ninth book in the Druids Brooch series. This series does not have to be read in order however I would definitely recommend it as I think you would miss a lot of the finer detail if you started from this book.
There are not many series that go on as long as this one, let alone would be able to hold my interest. And yet this book does it with ease as the author creates yet another interesting and unique story. I was immediately caught up in this story and found myself flying through the pages. Yet at the same time I wanted to stop and savour every page knowing that the series is coming to an end.
As much as I don’t want this series to end I am looking forward to seeing what is next for this author. It will be great to read something new and I am already looking forward to it.
