Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack Book 2) by Brooke May – Review by Kerry Baker

Call of the Alpha (The Powder River Pack #2)Call of the Alpha by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Call of the Alpha by Brooke May is the second book in the Powder River Pack series. The only way to describe this book is simply amazing. I enjoyed the first book in the series so knew this one should be good. However I never expected it to blow all expectations out of the water.
Rylie and Mason have become two of my favourites characters ever. The force of their connection was palpable! There wasn’t a second I was reading about them where I couldn’t feel it!
I have read a few books by this author now and hands down this is my favourite one so far – I honestly don’t know how she will ever manage to top this although I will definitely be willing to read more of her work to see if she can. I would highly recommend this book!!

Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set: (Books 1-2-3) Vigilante Justice Thriller Series by Mark Nolan – Review by Kerry Baker

Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set (Jake Wolfe #1-3)Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Jakes Wolfe series by Mark Nolan is an exciting and fast paced series that will definitely keep you reading from beginning to end.
This box set includes the first three books of the series and, if you haven’t read them already, it is a great way to introduce yourself to it. The series follows Jake Wolfe, the intriguing and utterly fascinating protagonist who is sure to draw you in to the books and not let you go.
Each of these books had a great story. None of them relied on one of the others to keep the pace and developed. They are all great books on their own. Once I had started this series I really struggled to put it down. The stories were all so exciting – the story lines were amazing and I love reading about Jake!
For any fan of this genre I would definitely recommend giving these books ago!

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series #1) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Kerry Baker

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series Book 1)Mountains Wanted by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mountains Wanted by Phoebe Alexander is the first book in the Mountains Wanted series. This is the start of yet another fantastic series by one of my favourite authors.
When I started this book I knew that I had to set aside the whole afternoon as once I picked it up I would not be able to put it down. I was hooked immediately with this book, drawn in to the stories and the characters.
The characters did work well together and I liked the development you could see between them. At first their relationship was a little awkward but it became so much more. I really enjoyed seeing this instead to two perfectly made people.
The story had enough romance and action to keep it interesting and fast paced. It was a brilliant start to the series and I cannot wait for the next one.

Chasing StarlightChasing Starlight by Jennifer Siddoway

Chasing Starlight: Cassandra’s Story by Matilda Reyes and Jennifer Siddoway is a story in the Daughters of Night Chronicles. This book is a brilliant read and one that you will not want to put down once you start!
Both of these authors are new to me and this book is a great way to learn about them. The whole book was so well written – both the characters are the story line are developed perfectly, with just the right amount of suspense and excitement.
The story was different to other books I have read in this genre. It felt fresh which made it, for me, even more exciting to read. This was a fantastic book and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I cannot wait to read more by these authors.

Landing the Lawman (Hills of Texas, #5)Landing the Lawman by Kadie Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Landing the Lawman by Kadie Scott is the fifth book in the Hills of Texas series. This book can be read as a stand-alone although personally I think all these books are worth reading.
As usual when I picked up this book I found myself reading a sweet and heartwarming story. This book is about the final Hill sibling, Carter, a character that I definitely loved. Her connection with Logan is lovely to read about. They have such a believable chemistry that made the book even better.
The story was a well written one, developed well with a great pace to it. I easily found myself lost in the story and it was such a fun read.
I have loved this series from the start and, although I am sad to see it end, I am please with how the author tied it all up. This definitely worth a read and one I will certainly go back to in the future.

The Wicked Wolves of Windsor: and other fairytales by Byrd Nash – Review by Kerry Baker

The Wicked Wolves of Windsor: and other fairytalesThe Wicked Wolves of Windsor: and other fairytales by Byrd Nash

The Wicked Wolves of Windsor: and other fairytales by Byrd Nash is a brilliant collection of short stories.
Books like this aren’t usually the type or think I enjoy and yet each and every story I read I enjoyed so much. The stories were well written and packed with such detail that they each felt like a full length novel.
The characters were all brilliant. They were developed well, each one progressing as the story did. Part of the reason why I tend not to like these books is I usually mix the characters up the more of the stories I read. However with these book each ones were completely separate and easy to remember.
Although still not my favourite type of book I definitely enjoyed this one and would certainly read more by this author in the future.

The Sister Pact: Home is Where The Heart Is by Jacquie Biggar is a book so well written it will feel like you are part of this family.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I can definitely say it will not be my last. This book absolutely captivated me from the start. The author does an incredible job of drawing you into the world of these characters and really making them seem real.
For me it really felt like this book was all about the story. It was well developed and interesting. The author didn’t rely on all the usual tricks you find in some many books and instead has clearly focused on writing a great book. I would definitely highly recommend this book to everyone and I cannot wait to read of this authors work.

Broken by Love (The Full Circle Series) by MJ Masucci – Review by Kerry Baker

Broken by LoveBroken by Love by M.J. Masucci
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Broken By Love by MJ Masucci is a story of a woman caught between her past and her present.
I was intrigued by the story from the moment I read about this book and knew it was one I had to try. I hadn’t read anything by this author before so didn’t know what to expect when I turned the first pages.
I did struggle to connect with the characters a little bit throughout this story. I couldn’t quite work out who I thought was best for her – if any of them – and it made it a little hard to engage with them. The story was pretty good though and had so redeeming qualities about it. Although there we aspects of it I found rushed I thought the author did ok overall good job on the story line. It certainly kept me turning the pages.
I would definitely give this book another go and I will definitely look into more work by this author.

The Runaround: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy by Sylvie Stewart is the sixth book in the Carolina Connections series. This book can be read as a stand-alone.
Whenever I pick up a book by this author I know I am going to enjoy it. This book however blew my expectations out of the water. I loved Ari and Jax. The connection between them was fantastic. I laughed along with them, a found myself getting choked up a time or two. They really made me feel like I was on their journey with them.

Taming Zane by Lisa Lanay is the second book in the Almost Perfect series. This book can be read as a stand-alone although it does reference the characters from the previous book.
I found this to be a really easy book to get into. The story kicked off straight away and was enjoyable immediately. The characters were easy to like and were fun and engaging.
Although there were a few times where the story seemed to lose direction or momentum a little it was still enough to keep my attention the whole way through. This was a fun book to read and I hope we get more from the series in the future.

Sky to Sea (Crimson Sash, #2)Sky to Sea by Amanda Marin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sky to Sea by Amanda Marin is the is the second book in the Crimson Sash series. This series does need to be read in order to fully understand what is happening.
It had been a while since I had read book one but I found it really easy to pick up from where it left off. I soon found myself immersed back into the characters and their stories.
This book was well paced and exciting. You really have to feel for Neve and Micah. They really thought they had found the place for them to be safe and happy and instead they find themselves mixed up in more turmoil.
The author has done a great job with the continuation of this series and I can wait to see what comes next.

REBOUND (REWIND BOOK 4) By Rowan Shaw – Review by Kerry Baker

Rebound (Rewind #4)Rebound by Rowan Shaw

Rebound by Rowan Shaw is the fourth book in the Rewind series. This book can be read as a stand-alone however personally I would read them in order to get the full experience.
As with the rest of this series what was so good about this book was how engaging and relatable the characters are. Even if they are going through things you haven’t been it was so easy to envisage their journey, their struggles.
I really loved Noah. He is one of those characters I just connected with instantly. And how the author portrays polyamorous relationships is brilliant. As someone not at all familiar with that type of relationship it was made easy to understand.
This is a fantastic book and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Sun So Bright by K.G. Fletcher is r third book in the Reigning Hearts series. This book can be read as a stand-alone.
I have to say for me the best bit about this book was the character development. I really struggled with Fiona at first, to the point where I wasn’t sure if I could finish the book. However as the book progressed her development was so interesting to read. By the end of the book I felt like I really understood her and was pleased for her.
The book was well written and really shows the skill of the author. This is a great read overall.

This book is a unique story combining the supernatural with the normal. It isn’t like any other book that I have read and it was thoroughly enjoyable.
The characters were all instantly likeable, with a host of interesting secondary characters to support the main 2. Although a quick story to read it was well developed and definitely caught my interest. I am certainly looking forward to book 2!

Game of Fear by Glede Brown Kabongo is an exciting psychological thriller. Although the storyline isn’t exactly original – it is quite a common go to for this book type – the author has done a great job of creating an exciting story with it.
The book was a little shorter than I expected – either that or I just read it quicker than I realised. However I found myself engaged with the main character Abbie and enjoyed reading about her journey.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. It was a well written and well developed book with interesting characters. I can’t wait to read more of her work.

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Kerry Baker

The Fat Girl's Guide to Loving Your BodyThe Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Fat Girls Guide to Loving Your Body b K.L. Montgomery is one of those books that you experience rather than read. It is such a relatable and engaging book and it is something that I think everyone needs to read.
I was familiar with K.L. Montgomery through her romcom work and knew that her writing style was right up my street: I’m not normally one of self-help, love yourself type books however this one completely struck a cord. I don’t know if it is because of how matter of fact I found her to be or if I just happened to be in the right mindset for it but I connected with this book in a way I haven’t don’t for a long time.
I might not share all the exact same struggles as Krista but you can easily see your own life reflected in what she was saying. This book really made me look at things in a different light and want to be more positive.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough and it has already made my must read list for 2020 – it will take some doing to beat this one I think!!!

Second Chance (Flowers in December #3)Second Chance by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Second Chance by Jane Suen is the conclusion of the Flowers in December trilogy. This is wonderful conclusion to the story we have followed through the previous two books.
It has definitely been up and down for Tom and Mary Ann, to the point where I wasn’t sure if they would end up together or if I even wanted them to. However the author has done such a great job of tying everything up and creating an ending the completely fits the story and the characters.
This has been a great journey to go on with them and, although I am sad to see it end, I like how the author achieved it. This has been a very good trilogy and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed.

Tanuja Ramachandran: Hunter-Seeker by Kumar Sivasubramanian is a fast paced and complex book. This is not the type of book to read casually, I feel that it is one you have to really pay attention to in order to fully understand what is happening.
I really didn’t know what to expect going in to this book: it was a new author to me and the description really didn’t seem to give anything away. I can definitely say I enjoyed it overall. It was fast paced and full of action.
