The Graceful Ghost
I can’t lie this isn’t my usual genre. I really liked the concept and it is written really well but I just couldn’t get into it. That being said I really liked the setting and learning about ballet and ballet school.

Mermaid and the Water Magnifying Glass is a part of the Mermaid Science Series by Lois Wickstrom. This is the perfect story to get young kids to get interested in science. The book is good for ages 4-8. The story takes the children through the science process. They are on an adventure to make a magnifying glass out of drops of water. This will pique the interest of girls using Trezzie the mermaid. The characters are unique just like other children. I love the fantasy concept to teach the concept of science to young children. I recommend this story and series for young children.

My youngest loved this book. She was able to read it and learn at the same time. She loves science. It was done in a subtle engaging way that kept her wanting to continue reading until the end.
My daughter is 12 and a tad too old for this book; however she loved it. She does have trouble reading sometimes; which is why I encourage her to read all different genres of books. This was a book she was able to read well and she loved the graphics.
Having said this, this book would be more suited to a child up to 8.

This is my third book from this author. I like her concepts, introduce science to little children her books. The illustrations are bright and neat, and it helps both children and adults realize that science exists in the nature and you can do experiments with very simple tools and you do not need a laboratory.
Trezzie, the mermaid, collects trash which people leave on the shore. When she meets Maia and Fig this time, she is interested to know more about the rocks which has some unusual markings on them. Maia and Fig ,use a plastic fruit box and help make a magnifying glass for Trezzie. Trezzie uses the glass and together they find out that the rocks are actually fossils. The discussion then leads to what Fossils are.
It is a very interesting book to read for both children and adults. I am enjoying reading the books with my boys. I would recommend it to everyone.

Tezzie the mermaid collects trash from the shore and with the help of her friend makes a magnifying glass. They want to take a closer look at a rock they found that has cool markings!
Come to find out it’s a fossil!
These books are so cute science and fantasy and children’s level understanding combine in a way that enraptured my 4 year old. Will be on the look out for more!

This is a really enjoyable children’s book. I recommend this author and this series to any parent or grandparent who have children in their lives that enjoy science. This series is one that any child who loves to explore and discover new things will enjoy. The activities included at the end of the book will make any child happy as it shows them something fun that they can do for themselves.

Maia and Fig are back at the lakeside and this time they are building a tower out of stones when Trezzie the Mermaid comes up to see them with a rock, this rock is too small for the tower that they are building, but when they look closer they can see a pattern in it, so Fig asks Maia what it is, but she can’t tell because it is too small to really see it. When Maia asks for a magnifying glass Fig knows how to make one, so between the tree of them, can Fig, Maia and Trezzie find what they need to make a magnifying glass and what will they find when they do?
This is a charming story which talks about science in a way which is easy and engaging for children, where they can learn useful scientific facts while still being in a land of fantasy.

What another great science learning book in this series. This is such a great tool to help young children learn science. The characters are well written and are able to draw the young child’s attention and aid in their learning process. The author does a great job to to engage the young readers imagination and aid in their learning. The author simplifies the subject and makes it easy to understand. I really recommend this series to anyone who has young children and wants to get their children into loving learning. Definitely worth the read.

“The Mermaid and the Watery Magnifying Glass” was a cute story. Friends, Fig and Maia, are building a stone tower. They get some help from Maia’s mermaid friend, Trezzie. Fig shows them how to make a water magnifying glass to look at the stone Trezzie gave them. I love the characters in this story! Fig and Maia seem to have a close friendship, and Trezzie adds an element of imagination. I did not read the other books in this series, but still found this book enjoyable on its own. I recommend this story for elementary age children, especially children who love science.

I’m a returning fan of this author Lois Wickstrom. I love all her children’s books. I really love the artwork on all of this series.These books are also so informative,and that the author includes instructions on how to do it. My son found it really cool to try it out.

Another wonderful science story for children. The author has a great way of creating storylines that certainly get children thinking scientifically and its great as a starting point for encouraging them to have a go at the activities the characters do in the story. The story is easy to follow and has beautiful illustrations that are certain to captures children attention.
In this story we see Maia, Fig and Trezzie create a magnifying glass!

This book was so adorable and informative. I like how it explains things on a child level. All the lessons worked perfectly in this book. The author did an amazing job with teaching and entertaining. This book will be great for kids to do hands-on activity. I highly recommend it for young curious readers.

Maia, Fig, and Trezzie, their mermaid friend, are back for another adventure. Trezzie finds an interesting fossil and Fig teaches them how to make a magnifying glass out of a plastic container so they can see the marks on the fossil better. The story is really cute and a great explanation of how magnifying glasses work is included. This would be a great book for teachers or parents to use to introduce magnifying glasses before having students experiment with a homemade one.

This is another cute adventure of a mermaid and her human friend. Trezzie, the mermaid, is back with an adventure in the science world. This time it is learning how to make a magnifying glass with a few drops of water. The author once more combines a popular kids fantasy creature with the world of science. It makes science fun and exciting for little ones of any gender. The experiment was easily able to be replicated at home. Both my niece and nephew cannot wait for the next Trezzie adventure and what science fun they can try next time.

I really enjoyed this children’s chapter book! I have read others by this author, and I enjoyed this story line especially since it had an introduction to paranormal fiction and had a mystery/suspense side to it as well! As a reader this kept my attention, and I was not able to figure out the ending.
I think many younger kids reading maybe never having read a paranormal or mystery/suspense book before may become hooked with this genre! Especially since it has friendships and rumours and school and of course ballet added in as well.
This being the third book in the series I still understood what was happening and it can be read as a standalone, but I am excited to go back and read the beginning of the series as well!
Overall, as a children’s paranormal fiction book I would highly recommend this for young readers.

This was the perfect follow up to the first installment and while it is great in sequence this one can be read by itself! Its the perfect book for any age but its definitely geared towards the middle school girl! Lessons like teamwork, and hardworking are taught in a way in which kids are not getting lectured and the characters are just as amazing!

While this is the third book in the series and while I haven’t read the previous two trust me when I say I definitely will. But to ge completely honest I had no idea whay i was in for when it came to this book. Full of ghosts, mystery, drama and more this book definitely kept me intrigued. The characters were very well developed, the plot was interesting and did I mention the beautiful cover? All of this and more is what will have me looking for more from this terrific author.

I loved this book as much as the previous book. I would say it’s geared mostly towards middle school aged girls, but I’m in my 40s and enjoyed it. I liked how there were lessons to learn from the story like teamwork, honesty and responsibility. You can read this as a standalone, but why would you?

This is book three of the series, but I read this one as a stand-alone. It’s a great book for teens and even middle schoolers! Lauren gets back to school already worrying with a new student, and her ghost friends. Her friend decides to put a gossip blog up about ghosts which has put a turn to a lot of events. Please take a read! Totally worth it!

Ahhh! Another lovely addition to the Mermaid Science series. I’ve been really enjoying reading these to my daughter and it has been so much fun to watch her absorb and learn about the magic of science! This is another beautifully illustrated book in the series and might be my daughters favorite so far! She’s 4 and we have now read it together quite a few times. I adore Fig, Maia, and Trezzies adventures!

It is a new term at Amberwood Hall Ballet School and Lauren and Katie are excited to talk all about their holidays, but most of all, they are excited to be dancing again! At the end of the last year they had the final performance and it went extremely well and as friends and family watched, so did Grace and Rodney the schools resident ghosts, but as much as the holidays are full of excitement, sometimes being at school can be even more so. Alfie, one of the boys in Katie and Lauren’s year comes back to school with some gadgets which he says can detect ghosts and he is determined after certain events last year that he can prove there are ghosts at Amberwood hall and Lauren is worried for her friends.
As everyone settles in, Katie is becoming more involved with the school newspaper and one of the ideas that she has come up with is a gossip board where news can be shared in a more public way and it starts off brilliantly, with students posting about supernatural happenings around the school, but one day an individual starts posting rumours about Lauren, but she just ignores them. As the term really gets underway a House Choreographics Cup is announced and each house holds auditions for the parts, so when the dancers are chosen and Lauren is one of them, rehearsals take up a lot of the students time.
As these rehearsals continue, the account posting the rumours intensifies and the rumours become malicious and start to affect the close friendship Lauren and Katie share, but who could it be? Amid ghost hunting escapades, rehearsals and defending herself against the rumours, will Lauren have time to investigate the source of the rumours, or will she lose her closest friend in the world? This is a lovely cosy mystery with plenty of twists and turns as the adventures as Amberwood Hall continue in this lovely tale of friendship, trust and lies.

This is the third book in the series, and it’s a good one! I really enjoyed reading it! It’s a quick little book, but still full of adventure. Once again, it is probably best suited for younger audiences, but it’s still enjoyable for adults! It’s like the ghost version of Percy Jackson! I think I actually might buy these for my little cousin for Christmas this year, excellent books!

While I feel it’s a book meant a little more for younger people, I still really enjoyed it. It’s a cute little story and an excellent read. It tells a story of a ballet school in England. Lauren can see ghosts, this is where we met Grace, and Rodney. Lauren’s classmate Alfie is obsessed with ghost hunting. Will he find out about Grace and Rodney?
Will Lauren get the part in the biggest talent show??
It’s a great read as a stand alone or read the whole series.

This is book three in this wonderful series of a world of dancing paranormal ghosts. Once again, the author made me laugh from all the angst going on in this school. It’s no different than typical high school and made me think about some of the gossip years I experienced myself and the drama that created. I think the author does an amazing job with these books and can provide some valuable lessons in the process. I think that it’s a perfect read for young teens, but I have thoroughly enjoyed these books as well. While this could be a stand-alone book I do feel like it would be best to read the entire series to get the most benefit from the life lessons she is preparing our young girls for.

Ballet School Rumors takes you to Amberwood Hall where you will find a vast array of characters living and going to school. Lauren and Katie are best friends who meet at ballet school. Within their group you find a group of students who treat each other with kindness and acceptance. A new student arrives this year and Lauren is assigned to care for her – and while Lauren is a bit irritated, she soon learns that Nyree is a good friend to have in her corner.
Grace and Rodney, resident ghosts take good care to not be seen or found out. Lauren is the only student who knows they are there. That is until one of the boys wants to uncover ghosts in the school. Add in the new wall on the school news site where someone is spreading rumors and you get a real middle school feel for what rumors and shenanigans can do to interrupt friendships and focus!

Ballet School Rumours is the third book in the Amberwood Hall Ballet School Adventure Series and I absolutely loved reading it. This is a Paranormal Children’s story that I couldn’t get enough of. This is recommended for ages 8 and up but I think anyone can enjoy reading it.This may be a short story but its packed with adventure, drama, ghosts and friendship and more. This authors style of writing along with her creative characters and attention to detail makes for an amazing story. What will happen when rumours start to fly after an online gossip column is started? There is rumoured to be supernatural presence at Amberwood Hall. Lauren is worried about her ghost friends Grace and Rodney. Will Lauren loose a friend over wicked whispers? Will friendships be lost? I highly recommend reading this cute story to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This was a wonderfully written for young adult girls, especially ones that are interested in or already taking dance classes. The author has put so much into this story that I didn’t want to put it down. It does include some paranormal activity and characters which make the book even more interesting. When considering this book, think Hogwarts School of Magic but a school of dance. This contained a lot of laughs, tears, bullies, and close-knit friendships. Most of all it contains a wonder life lesson that all females need to learn. Especially our young females. We need more books like this. I highly recommend that you get this book for your kids. They will enjoy it.
