Another beautiful book from this fabulous author! The next installment of Carrie and her adventures with her grandmother’s hidden treasures. This story shows the power of looking at the same everyday things with a different perspective and how it can make the ordinary extraordinary! Highly recommended to read with all ages!

The Round Box (Grandma’s Closet) by Lois Wickstrom. I love this author so I was excited to read the 2nd installment in Grandma’s Closet series. Its the continuing story of Carrie who is missing her Grandma because she had lived with them but now she has moved across town. When she can Carrie sneaks into the closet where some of her Grandma’s things are stored. It makes her feel closer to her Grandma. In this box she finds a hat, a fascinator and it looked like a ship. With this hat Carrie imagines all kinds of adventures and feels even closer to her Grandma. All of these books are so fun and so full of adventure. I love that they urge kids to use their imagination while also teaching lesson along the way. This book would make a great gift for the youngster in your life!

Sasha is a great girl who, like many teen girls, is a little short on confidence. This book focuses on how Sasha can use her inner strength to become a better person. There are several short stories that cover everything from peer pressure, bullying, and accepting oneself.
What I loved about this book is that Sasha *is* a strong person. She loves science and she’s really smart. She has great friends who really care for her. She’s a caring person herself.
What I didn’t like so much about this book is that it was written to look like Sasha could only get these important attributes that she was struggling with from her friends. While friends are VERY important, they are not the only way that she could have grown from these experiences. There was little interaction with family, and they can be the strongest influence. I would have liked to seen a stronger family bond written about in this book. There was some, but I feel like a story about her mom, dad, grandma/grandpa, aunt/uncle could have made this story much better.
This would be a great gift idea for a young teen girl. The stories are very short (3-4 pages each) and there are some pictures included.

I always enjoy reading stories from this author. She always does a great job of writing in a way that is easy for young children to follow and enjoy. In this story we see Carrie is missing her grandmother and she just can’t find anything fun to do while she is feeling sad. She remembers that her Grandma left some boxes at the house and she goes exploring. I love how the author encourages children to use their imaginations in her stories and this one doesn’t disappoint. I think every child should have a box labeled FASCINATOR in their house. I will always recommend any book by this author; she writes in such a fun and imaginative voice that it’s always a joy to read.
Sasha is a young lady who loves the colour purple, and she is on a journey to self-discovery, with this collection of short stories, you will go through ups and downs along with Sasha as she finds out how to handle these emotions and work through them.
The themes range from being brave, self-acceptance, confidence, overcoming fear, handling pressure and growing your inner strength. They are colourful, creative and easily understood and suitable for all ages.

Cute quick story! I understood Cray and could feel for his dilemma. He is a bully and thinks just because he can that means he should. Luckily for him he actually has great friends that he didn’t realize until an accident. The meaning in this book is easy to see. It makes a good story to read to and discuss the actions and consequences of certain behaviors with children.
The illustration in here is wonderful! I would recommend it on that alone but add in the adorable rhyming story and it’s a winner!

5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Sasha Smart: Short Stories for Girls is a true gem. Inspirational, positive learning, overcoming obstacles, acceptance of others with good messages I believe this is a great book for some good discussions on topics that truly can hit home. While this book is geared more toward ages 8-12, Sasha gives great examples and senarios that even the older crowd can learn or use as a reminder.
This collection of short stories is engaging with some great illustrations in between. I love the feeling of building confidence in a young girl as she navigates different real life senarios that we all have been subjected to in one time or another.
I highly recommend this book for any girl to read. Inspiring!
This book is an inspiring and fantastic book that I loved being able to share with my daughter. The messages and acceptance throughout these stories was incredible to see and it was a great way to have specific discussions with my daughter. The fact that the book is a collection of short stories, rather than one whole story, made it even better. It allows the target audience to focus on one aspect, digesting it and being able to explore the ideas, before moving on to the next. This book is perfectly written with the audience in mind and even I enjoyed reading through it. This is a brilliant book that I would urge everyone to try.

These are wonderful stories that do a great job at building confidence in young girls. I really like the fact that they work on instilling that failure is okay as long as you learn from it and try again. To keep trying is okay. These are positive and inspiring stories. I will buy a copy for each of my granddaughters.

The Round Box is the second book in the Grandma’s Closet Series and is a cute children’s book that children of any age will enjoy. My son loved this book so much we’ve read it several times already and I foresee many more times in the near future. We are huge fans of this author and this one my son says is his favorite book in the whole world. He loved the mystery behind the hat shaped like a boat . This cute little story is packed with imagination, a bit of drama and a whole lot of adventure. Find out what happens when Carrie finds a box in Grandma’s Closet labeled FASCINATOR and opens it to find a hat that looks like a boat. I highly recommend reading this book and we look forward to reading more from this Author.

I loved the illustrations in this book, the late sunset and seashells were my favorite pages. The story is great and teaches kids a good lesson, especially not waiting for something bad to happen to you before finally being kind to others. I don’t know other parents who have a pinching problem but I have met some who have kids to who like to bite and hit, I think this will be a great book for them as it shows all of Cray’s friends leaving him because they don’t like the pinching. I even like that the author included Fox telling Cray he doesn’t like him playing that way. The book is short and filled with rhymes that will help keep the attention of young children. Definitely a good book for teachers to read with young children.

This is a fantastic read to improve children’s vocabulary and use of words by using their imagination and a little bit of magic in the pages of this book. As always Lois has done a fantastic job of captivating the readers attention and holding it page after page.
The Round Box is part of the Grandma’s Closet series of children’s books. They don’t have to be read in order, each is its own book with the same characters. Carrie’s grandma used to live with them, but moved across town. She left behind some things, which are stored in a closet. Carrie is looking for things to do, and sneaks in to search through some of the boxes. The item she removes is quite fascinating. Its a little bit magical, and makes Carrie’s room do some weird things. While I felt the book was good and magical, my son said it doesn’t make sense. He is almost 8 and a little too practical for kid books- so for this reason, I recommend it for a slightly younger audience. The illustrations are colorful and fun. There are certain action words with different font, which was fun.
I absolutely loved this lovely story about friendship for the young and older alike! Cray has a bad habit of pinching and teasing his friends, but his friends do not like this and teach him about what it means to be a good friend. This is a fun story with colourful illustrations. Highly recommended!

This is another cute book by Lois Wickstrom. The illustrations are nice and colorful. When her family is busy Carrie finds something unusual. My son rocked like he was on a stormy sea while we read. He plans on asking his grandma where her fascinator is.
A New Day For Cray is the first book in The Adventures of Cray series by G Pa Rhymes. This is a really cute story that is accompanied by lots of lovely, bright, colourful, interesting, and imagination-capturing illustrations which help to bring the whole story to life. Cray the Crab is a pincher, and a bit of a bully- he learns a valuable lesson on friendship as his adventure unfolds. The story is cute- and told is a rhyming verse that adds an extra element of interest to the whole story. It also has some valuable messages woven into the story, about friendship, kindness, and (anti-)bullying. Easy to read. Fun. Intriguing. Wonderful illustrations. Cute story. Well worth the read. Another adorable story by Wickstrom, like all the others I have gifted to my neice and nephew. They really enjoyed the imigatry that was painted when we were reading. I appreciate Wickstrom’s ability to teach life lessons at a level that is understandable to the kids. I would recommend this book.

The first thing that caught my attention with this book was the cover. The illustrations are beautifully done and really add depth to the story itself. Talking to kids about friendships and kindness is incredibly important but can be a bit tricky. This book makes it not only easy to learn, but fun to experience along with Cray the Crab. Both of my kids absolutely enjoyed the rhyming throughout the book which I have found has helped the information stick around in their minds. I feel that this would be a wonderfully helpful book to have in your family and the classroom!

This book was age appropriate for my three littles and they loved it. The were engaged for the entire story which is rare for them. As a parent I liked the message it had about friendship and helped me to talk to them about some social cues they can look for when they play with their friends. Overall, I will be adding more of Cray and his adventures to our home library.

This is a cute little story. I really like the rhyming and think kids will like it too. The story of Cray is nice, he liked pinching his friends with his claw, but they didn’t like it as much. When he lost the claw he felt so sad because he was changed. His friends were able to show him they liked him even though he was different now. I recommend this book, kids will like the rhyming and the story.

This is the story of a crab named Cray. Cray has a tendency to be a bit of a handful for his friends. It is not until Cray has an accident that Cray begins to see what true friends are like.
I think this is a great one for little kids. Teaches some lessons on kindness and seeing others in a different light. Beautiful illustrations.

As usual, as soon as we saw a new book by this author, the whole family was excited for story time. This book really explores what it is like to use your imagination and it is definitely one that got all of ours going! It was such a fun story right from the start, and my two kids were fascinated with the idea of being transported to a boat. The illustrations in the book were colourful and a perfect fit for the story being told. We marveled at them just as much as we read the book (which has been multiple times!) and I am sure we will do the same when we read the book again. This is a brilliant and fun story that is worth reading with your family.
This book is such a fun and entertaining story and a really great way of teaching children the important of kindness. The way the author has written this book is so engaging and captivated both of my kids right from the word go. The rhymes were well thought out and catchy and the pictures in the book made it come alive. As a parent, I loved the premise of this book. Teaching kids how to be kind can be so difficult, yet this book discussed the topic with ease. We will definitely be reading this book again, and any more from this author.
