This is a great book to read to children who are just being introduced to pets. The rhyming style it’s written in is fun and the brightly colored pictures along with appropriately placed RED “X” where there is an action that shouldn’t be done, this book helps a child to learn how to safely handle a dog. I think this is a great book to keep in any little library.

Unlike her brothers, Luna the Husky cannot howl. Luna busies herself though and keeps active doing things she enjoys. Then she meets a little cat who struggles as well. Together they start an unlikely friendship.

I thought the illustrations were beautiful. I enjoyed the story and like that their are activities that tie into the book in the back. Great for kids learning to read and who like to immerse themselves in the story

This is book 7 of the Invisible Magic Wand series, I’ve not read the others but after reading I went to check them out and I believe they don’t need to be read in order. I love how imaginative this story is and I think it will encourage kids to want to create something just like Caspian did. I also really like that he tried different techniques with his baking. I’m not 100% with the illustrations but the bright colors and large lettering are really nice.

I read This Egg Wont Hatch with my 7 year old son, and we both enjoyed it. He struggled with some of the words, but mostly read it himself. We had to google what a Warbler and a Cuckoo were, because he wasn’t familiar with either bird. We thought the cuckoo was really sweet and protective at first. Then we realized he’s mean and doesn’t want to share his food. What he did to timid chick was sad but we were glad it turned out okay. It was a cute little kid book. We are big fans of the author.

She loved all the pictures and would repeat the affirmations back to me. I found she’d say some periodically but mix up the words, it was cute. I thought these were easy, cute and perfect for young kids but really for anyone. The illustrations were colorful and enticing for children and the affirmations were perfect to share with my child. Loved this book and think it would make a great gift for a young child!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed reading this cute story about the wind and rain. This is an author that I have enjoyed every children’s book I have read by her. This is a story about how the wind empty’s the lake of fish and frogs. Just when you thought the wind could hold no more, it started raining. No, not the rain you are used to. This rain is full of fish and frogs. This is such a cute story with cute characters. There is great growth that adds to the story’s entertainment. I also enjoyed the illustrations that told a story without even reading the words. The pages are engaging and a story any child would enjoy reading. I highly recommend this child’s book.

She is such a great character. We have seen her in other books by this author which is great to see her with her own book. This is not only a great story but the learning aspect part of the story adds to the story. I enjoyed the colorful illustrations on each page. This book is meant for younger children, around elementary age, and in my opinion would be helpful and useful within a classroom environment.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A young man has a hankering for a breakfast of fried trout. What’s the best way to get it? Why, go to Lake Fish-or-Cut-Bait and fish for it yourself! Things got a little interesting for him when the winds picked up, and along with that, all the fish and frogs of the lake. The wind took the fish, frogs, and balls that it accumulated along the way into town until it could no longer hold everything. Then it started raining fish and frogs.

Super cute book about the science phenomena of a water spout. I love that this book was done in black and white (at least my copy was) with a colorful cover. The illustrations were very well done and made the story more entertaining. A great way to teach about this science feature, plus about the safety measures that should be taken should you be involved in or near a water spout.

Baking a Bicycle is another edition of the Invisible Magic Wand Books. In this edition, Caspian, this year for his Unbirthday wants a bike. However, his Grandfather asks what is so unusual about a bike, it doesn’t fit the unbirthday theme. The next day Caspian’s gift is “Baking up Dust”. He starts baking with Grandpa and sees that the baking is creating bike shapes, but how to turn that into something he can ride? What magic with this unbirthday bring? I do like this Invisible Magic Wand series because it provides a great way for kids to use their imaginations. The fact that they are also always family-oriented makes it feel warm, fun, and full of imagination. I would recommend this series to anyone who knows younger kids who love to play with their imagination.

Luna the Howling Husky Finds Her Howl (Jake the Growling Dog World) by Samantha Shannon is such a cute and feel-good children’s book- suitable for all ages. The illustrations are just delightful and really make this story come to life. The are interesting, bright, and beautiful- all together, making a charming read.
After reading Ms. Shannon’s ‘Jake the Growling Dog’ series with my grandson, and enjoying them so much- I knew he would love this one too. I think this is my favourite of her books, so far- and my grandson was captivated by Luna too.
It’s a cute and sweet read with some adventure and wonderful lessons along the way, such as: finding our voice/speaking up, kindness- and how one small act of kindness can change someone’s day or life for the better, love, family, and friendship. It also promotes empathy, kindness, and acceptance. There are also some fun activities to find at the end of the book- a word search puzzle, conversation starters, a counting page, a kindness page, a critter search that spans the book, and a see-and-find-puzzle.
A wonderfully immersive story with wonderful messages.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Samantha Shannon!

What a wonderful story and such beautiful eye catching illustrations. This story can be enjoyed from the young and also the young at heart like me. I know my great nieces and nephew love this story as much as I do…..and we all can learn a great message from Luna the Howling Husky. Perseverance, kindness and friendship…this story of Luna is one of the best.

When Luna cannot howl like her brothers and sisters, Luna feels like an outsider. A chance encounter with Nemo the cat, Luna makes a new friend and they have so much in common. The bond of friendship between Luna and Nemo builds with kindness. Will Luna be able to be brave and find her “howl”?

This is a truly a heartwarming and fantastic story. I highly recommend this to anyone…

Luna the Howling Husky Finds Her Howl is another cute tale by Samantha Shannon. This is a wonderful children’s book that I am going to share with my grandsons, I know they will fall in love with Luna’s story as they loved her in Jake the Growling Dog.
I enjoy reading with my grandsons, and especially the closer we get to Christmas as I am looking for presents for them so when this book came about, I jumped at a chance to grab it.
The cover and illustrations are beautifully done and really bring the story to life.
Finding your voice, making friendships and being kind to others are wonderful messages that not only young can learn about but adults as well. This book is 30 pages of fun and interaction and most definitely worth the read.
It is aimed at children aged 6-10 but even those younger would love the story.
