Better Than Goodbye (Venture Book 1) by Kinney Scott. This story was just what I needed. Sometimes you need a good romance story that has you falling in love just as much as the characters and that’s exactly what this book gave me. Amanda and Kent from page one completely had me hooked for their journey. The author knows how to write characters you can root for and connect with and that made it easy to get lost in the pages of this story. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. This book is a perfect way to spend a few hours lost with great characters on a nice relaxing weekend. Four big stars and highly recommended. Can’t wait to see where this author takes readers next.

Better Than Goodbye reminded me a typical Hallmark movie with its predictable ending, but you still find yourself reading fast ahead to follow this relationship. The characters were well developed, but I do feel that I would have been more connected to the characters if the story would have been from a first-person point of view, feeling those feelings as my own in a sense. With this being book 1 of this series, I am interested to see where this series leads next.

Better Than Goodbye (Venture Book 1)Better Than Goodbye by Kinney Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Better Than Goodbye is the first book in the Venture Series by Kinney Scott. Amanda left her small town life in Oregon to pursue her dream job in Los Angeles. She gets wrapped up in all of the excitement but still feels a part of her is missing. Amanda can’t get Kent out of her mind and how she left him behind. When the opportunity presents itself, Amanda is determined to get the next location of the reality TV show to be Hood River. This may just be the opportunity Amanda needs to win back Kent. Will thirty days be enough to bring back all the happy memories between Amanda and Kent? The author does a wonderful job portraying the true relationship between Amanda and Kent. You can really feel their love for each other but things just never seem to go their way. This was a great, quick, romantic novel that I thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to reading future stories in this series.

Better Than Goodbye (Venture Book 1)Better Than Goodbye by Kinney Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Better Than Goodbye is the opening act of Kinney Scott’s Venture series. It is a beautifully written sweet second chance romance that you will fall into and do not want to leave. I have always loved stories that take place in Northwest and highlights the magnificent nature that I fell in love with when I lived there! This was my first read by Kinney Scott and I cannot wait for the next one in the series! I think I will go and pick up her In Ashwood series as there were couple of references in the story that got me curious!
I have to admit that the first few chapters drove me nuts as I felt that the writer is speeding the story along BUT then I got to the ‘present’ and it started totally make sense! I actually ended up appreciating her way of telling the ‘past’!
Better Than Goodbye is the second chance story of Amanda and Kent, they go back for a very long time and they share a special connection but like with all of us, sometimes the life simply happens and things go awry. Now, they have an opportunity for a second chance and they are taking us along on a heady ride filled emotional highs and lows and our hope for the eventual happy ending! I cannot wait for the next one in the series as I hope it will be Amanda’s roomie!

started this out wondering if I would like this book after reading the first few chapters. Well after finishing it I can say I loved it and the characters. These two have such feelings for each other that it just sparks off the pages whenever they are together. As I was going through this book I could really see these two growing up and becoming more mature as the book went on. It was nice seeing them change and improve.

While the main characters were my focus. I couldn’t get past a few of the secondary characters. Babette was a fun add. I loved her no holds barred personality. Duncan and Sig were nice and added to the Venture side of things. I Love how the title was worked into the story multiple times.

Overall it is a great story and I really fell for the characters. I would suggest in the beginning putting ages, years or months at the beginning of the chapters so the reader knows the time change. Also just keeping an eye on the timeline. It seems to vary a couple times. I did greatly enjoy this and thought about them even after I was finished. I look forward to the next one….hopefully Babette and Duncan get a story.

This was my first read by This author and I enjoyed it.
There’s a phrase I hear often of “right person, wrong time” and I felt that with these two. Life wasn’t ready for these two yet, they had more to learn apart first.
Amanda and Kent were relatable and that kept the story grounded and believable for me. You really feel everything that’s happening and I love that in a story .

Better than Goodbye by Kinney Scott is book one of The Venture series. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I was not disappointed!

Amanda and Kent didn’t exactly have it easy on their relationship with it often being very on and off. Amanda knows they have a connection l, that is undeniable, but she can’t bare to keep hurting each other. When Amanda is presented with an opportunity to leave, she takes it. How could she pass up her dream? Kent doesn’t see it that way though and holds a lot of resentment. Their connection still keeps Amanda ties to Oregon and now she has an opportunity to reunite with Kent and keep her dream job. Now she just needs to convince Kent they belong together. Will he be able to forgive her?

This book was so real. It’s easily relatable and the characters felt like people you could be friends with. I couldn’t put it down!

Better than Goodbye by Kinney Scott is a second chance romance that will have you thinking about the one that got away. Do you choose your dream job or the boy you have loved forever?

Kent and Amanda’s story was one that had their ups and downs but we all know that they were bound to end up together.

The beginning of the book was a little choppy for me and it took some time to actually start to like the characters. But by the end, I was enjoying the story and I’m looking forward to reading more in the series.

I enjoyed this second chance romance, as childhood sweethearts Amanda and Kent get another chance at love with each other having gone there separate ways for work. This was a heartwarming story and the author had a warm and inviting way with words that had me fully immersed in the storyline and swept me along on Amanda and Kent’s journey. When Amanda got her dream job in California she left her small town in the Pacific Northwest never to look back. However she left behind the man she’s always loved, Kent and how ever exciting her new life is she can’t stop thinking and dreaming about him. When Amanda gets the chance to return to her home town of Hood River as part of her job on a popular reality TV show she takes it. Amanda is determined to prove to Kent how good they were together and could be again, the only problem is, Kent hates her for leaving him.
Although an emotional read at times, this novel had an easy feel to the writing and the storyline flowed along nicely. I loved the characters, Amanda and Kent were a great couple who’s connection and chemistry was obvious from page one and I was cheering them on to their happy ever after. As this is book one in a new series by Kinney Scott I look forward to reading some of the secondary characters stories in future books. This is the first book I have read by Scott, and I am pleased to have discovered a new author, having enjoyed this novel.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Better Than Goodbye (Venture Book 1) by Kinney Scott is a sweet second chance romance story. It is very well written and flows well and is a read you get easily caught up in. I found myself invested in the characters that have depth and are fully realised and the chemistry between the two sizzles. There is a little bit of everything like angst and drama, second chances and lots of emotions that make the story pop and keep you engaged.

Amanda leaves behind her love to find her dreams but is the grass any greener? Unfortunately, that is harder to do than she realised. Returning home, she must face the reality and pain of her leaving has left behind. Kent feeling rejected and hurt comes to find that love and hate are a fine line.

Better Than Goodbye is the first book in the Venture series, and my first read by Kinney Scott. It is a sweet and spicy second chance romance with plenty of angst, emotion, chemistry, drama, and sizzle. The story and characters are well really well developed, with plenty of depth, as well as being relatable and interesting. I enjoyed the authors warm, sexy, and inviting style- it was so easy to read and immerse myself in. It was somewhat predictable, but in a charming way- and the fact that it was a little predictable didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.
Amanda left her hometown, and the love of her life, to follow her dreams to California, but her heart and soul are still back in Oregon. So, when the opportunity arises to spend a month back in her hometown again, she grabs hold with both hands, determined to find a way to resolve her greatest regret. One small problem, the person she hopes to reconnect with hates her……. things are about to get interesting.
A great read. Looking forward to exploring more of Kinney Scott’s work.

Thank you, Kinney Scott!

Better Than Goodbye by Kinney Scott a fabulous four-star read. This is Ventura book one and shows promise for number two. I was surprised by this one, and surprised I hadn’t read the author before, it was a very pleasant surprise, this one dragged you into the story and made you angry with the characters, angry with the stubbornness the main characters feel, but it wasn’t just that, Amanda and Kent were real and the romance and love they show is flawed and complex and full of real drama. I am a sucker for second chance romance, and this just brought something special, if it wasn’t for a couple of spots that were too overdone it would have been a five-star read.

Better Than Goodbye (Venture Book 1) by Kinney Scott

How have I managed to not find this author before now? I’m not sure how it happened but I’m glad I have found her. And I have already grabbed the first book in her last series to get started on them just as soon as possible.

This was not your typical second chance story and I think that is one of the things I liked about it.

Kent and Amanda had a special relationship starting back when they were kids in high school. There was a pull that neither one of them could deny. Watching them struggle through the years was tough but most relationships have their ups and downs. I just wish they talked to each other as much as they talked to their friends.

I love the fiesty Babette and the shy Matilda and hope to see more of both of them in the future.

Very enjoyable story and looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Kinney Scott has a knack for writing a sweet romance novel that kept me glued to the kindle to find out how these characters would come to find their happily ever after. I wasn’t sure what to expect with Better Than Goodbye, the first in the Venture series from her, as I have only read one other novel by her before, but this one was probably my favorite so far and I will definitely be back for more in this series.

This was the story of Amanda and Kent. Amanda leaves and goes to California to follow and pursue her dreams, but she leaves behind pieces of her heart with Kent and the dream to be with him. Things get interesting when Kent and Amanda are brought back into each other’s lives. Will they be able to find the love and hold on to it this time? I was really engrossed in these two and their story from the very first page until the very last and I was never one moment disappointed or bored with how things were going to turn out. I look forward to seeing what we will get next from this series!

Better Than Goodbye is the first book in the Venture series by Kinney Scott. It is also the first book that I have read by this author. I used to be bad for sticking to the same author’s all the time but now I’m more likely to take the plunge on author’s I haven’t read before if the blurb ‘speaks’ to me. I’m so glad that I’ve changed this mentality as I’ve discovered many new authors I’d have never read before. If this book is anything to go by then I’ll definitely be reading more of Kinney Scott’s work. I’m already looking forward to reading more of this series to see what happens to some of the characters from this one in the future.
Better Than Goodbye is a great second chance romance that had me pulled into the story from the very beginning and did not let me go. The story is very well written and flows very well at a good pace. I did feel that the pace was a bit quick at the beginning when we were getting the past history of Amanda and Kent but then it settled as it came to the present day and moved at a much better pace.
I loved the characters of Kent and Amanda and their sexual chemistry is off the charts HOT! Kinney sure knows how to write a sizzling story filled with drama that makes it hard to put the book the book down when real life sadly gets in the way.
In addition to Kent and Amanda there is a great secondary cast that I’m hoping to read more about in future books in this series.

This is a great realistic romance. I like how the start of the story shows key moments in both Kent and Amanda’s life which turns them into the adults they become. The key moments were shown in a short way which was ideal as anything more would have made them too long and the book drag.

It was a roller coaster of emotions from the start and was relatable. Most people can identify with the story of your first love and then circumstance in life meaning you drift apart.

Kent and Amanda were sweethearts at school and when their careers take them in different direction their love is lost. Or so they think.

That is until Amanda returns and all the old feelings resurface. Will this second chance be enough to show Kent and Amanda how much they need to make their relationship work or will they separate again and lose the love of their lives for the second time.

I thought this book was a sweet one and it was a great introduction to a new to me author!
This book was well written and i was pulled in from page one and didn’t come back up for air until the very last page. It was engaging and i thought the main characters were fantastic. They really made this story that much better and i couldn’t help but like them. Amanda is awesome. She goes after her dream job but in doing so she makes a big sacrifice to her love life and she leaves her love Kent behind. But fate has a different idea and Her and Kent may get the second chance that Amanda’s asking for.. But first she has to convince Kent that they’re meant to be.
This story was fast paced and i really did like it a lot. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future and i would recommend this book to a friend.

I enjoyed reading this book. I was pulled right into Amanda and Kent’s story. These two went to school together, Amanda had a pretty hard crush on Kent back then but he was older. They end up getting pretty serious later on when they are a little older, the chemistry and love between them is off the charts but things didn’t quite work out the way they thought it would. Amanda isn’t happy with what she’s doing in her life. She gets a job opportunity, unfortunately it’s in Los Angeles and Kent doesn’t want to try long distance. They have many ups and downs in this book and they have hurt each other. Amanda comes back to their home town for work, will these two find a way back to each other? This book is full of drama, romance, second chances and more. I recommend this book and can’t wait to read the next book.

The first chapter of this book started so silly, then as it goes, it gets a little emotional. I love that in a book, the best first chapter I have had the pleasure to read in a while.

I really like the way this book was put together and how the past and the present is intermingled. Following Kent and Amanda with the struggles they have growing up and following their dreams, making the hard choices as they become adults has been so intriguing to me, I hated to put the book down.

Knowing when to follow your dreams and lift up those around you to help them pursue their own is a tough line to walk, and this book showcased that perfectly.

This is book 1 and I can’t wait to see what comes of any that follow.

Better Than Goodbye (Venture Book 1)Better Than Goodbye by Kinney Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a romance book with enough angst to keep you reading but enough romance to make it real. Amanda moves to California to follow her dream, leaving behind Kent. Kent is the man who she has loved forever, but her dreams are calling her elsewhere. When the show she is working on brings her back into Kent’s life, they need to determine if they can make it work if it is better to say goodbye forever.
I found myself invested in these characters from early on. Amanda is relatable and I was pulling for her. Kent has some abandonment issues from when he was younger, and my heart felt for him as well. There were times when I wished that I had a little more backstory…but it doesn’t take away from the story being told. There is some push and pull along the way to keep it angsty and wondering if they will be able to work through their issues or not. I enjoyed this book and this is an author I would definitely read again.

Better Than Goodbye (Venture #1) by Kinney Scott

This is the first in the Venture Series and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Mrs. Scott has a new fan and I will definitely be on the lookout for more of her work.

Kent, the boy who has no mom, has finally grown up. He’s doing what he loves, but doesn’t realize he’s forgetting something. Or someone. When the time comes the person he loves comes back into his life. The quote I choose for Kent is: “The drive up here gave me time to think about us. Seeing you again confirmed one thing—all the miles and months apart haven’t altered how I feel about you. Amanda, absolutely nothing will change how much I love you.”

Amanda, the girl who’s been in love with Kent, is finally getting her dream. Kent Thomas. When things don’t work out she leaves. When she comes back she isn’t sure what she’ll find. The quote I choose for Amanda is: “Not necessarily. Not if what Kent really needs is closure . After the way I left, I think he deserves something better than goodbye.”

I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good romance. You might need tissues and you may throw book/device fair warning.

Better Than Goodbye by Kinney Scott is the first book in the Venture series. This is a second chance romance story that has the characters on a rollercoaster from the word go. I liked from the start how realistic and engaging I found the story to be, even when there were times, I wanted it to have a little more depth. It is a story that I could easily envision as I was reading it.
The characters were interesting to read about. I knew that I wanted them to find way to make things work as I liked both of them. They had both been through a lot and it felt right that they should be together.

This is a great story of a woman out to get her man back after making a career move she didn’t know would ruin her personal life. The way it unfolds, you can’t help feeling Amanda’s pain as she misses Kent in a bed alone miles away from him. You’re holding out just as much hope as she does in wanting them to come back together. I love a story that can keep us rooting for love rekindled between two characters who make up as much as you hate to see them break up or away from one another. I loved reading the book Better Than Goodbye (Venture Book 1) by Kinney Scott. It is a story that is romantic and had me hooked from the start. I loved reading about the characters of Amanda and Kent. Amanda is a woman who by taking a dream job in California lost the one man that had stolen her heart. When situations align and they are one more together in the same town will they find themselves in each other’s arms again or will they end up saying goodbye for a second time? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about what happens to Amanda and Kent with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness. The story has romantic moments that heat the pages. The author does a wonderful job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive. There are additional characters that I also enjoyed reading about such as Amanda’s roommate. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you believing in second chances and true love. It is a book that you won’t want to put down until you have read the final page. I highly recommend it.
