Operation Escape (Space Force Rejects Book 2)Operation Escape by Landra Graf
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book I have read by the talented Landra Graf, the first being Operation Pinpoint which is the first book in the Space Force Rejects series. At first, I was slightly disappointed that this book didn’t pick up where the first one left off as it was a cliffhanger, but I quickly swallowed those words as the world became more complex. Told from two perspectives once again you get a bigger understanding of the original plot of book one and learn more about the Space Force and how terrible they are. Book one does not have to be read to understand this book.
Sera is the daughter of the head of the Space Force, but she was deemed a failure by him due to her small size and he ordered her the termination of her. Uncle Garsett (Dr. Garsett in the first book) is the person who saved her and raised her. He was the only person to believe in her and now three months after his disappearance she finally can search for him herself. Markus Engle, once Captain in the Space Force Special Ops, and a talented pilot is the only person that she can trust now. While raising her, her uncle told her repeatedly that in case of an emergency to find Captain Markus Engle he can help and will protect you. Blindsiding him, Markus is obligated to help her, if he refuses the bond her uncle forced on him will cause him physical pain. During their mission, they both constantly fight the bond that he knows about, but she is clueless as to what is happening to her and why she has such an intense magnetic pull to this man she has just met. Quickly her carefully planned mission is flipped on its head when her informant steals their ship and leaves her and Markus stranded on Earth, the prison planet with no way to escape. With the help of Paavo (Hirudian), Cy (Levian) and Haylee (splice, human robot hybrid), Markus has no choice but to try and give trust before it is earned to ensure that Sera survives and makes it off the prison planet alive.
How can Sera be such a menace and yet so innocent and naïve? Can all five of them trust each other to make it off the planet alive? Is this bond truly pheromones only or is it deeper, is it more? The world the author created in the first book is filled in more with this book, leading to more adventures and deeper bonds formed over time. Nothing is given, everything must be earned. Reading about the characters overcoming the obstacles placed in their way while growing closer makes you route for them from start to finish. I cannot wait for book three to learn more about this amazing world and characters.

Operation Escape (Space Force Rejects Book 2) by Landra Graf – Review by Paloma Fierro 16/04/2023

Sera Kain must find out what happened to her uncle, the only human being who ever had given a damn about her. With the limited conditions of her physic not much can be achieved, but her mind is and always will be the best of her assets, she just needs the help of a warrior, and she knows exactly who he is.

Markus Engle quit the space force for all the corruption and discrimination that the place provoked to the entire universe, but his past will follow him to the ends of the galaxy.

The story of humans literally made for each other based on the science of another race, bound to be mates against all odds. Their adventure will take them back to the place where humans were created, the Earth. Danger and romance combined to create a place where the opposites complement each other just the right amount.

Sera and Markus, I love this pair. I don’t like you but I’ll kind of trust you. She needs a pilot and gets him to help her rescue her Uncle. I found this story to be entertain and fast paced. Lots of new characters to meet and grow fond of (or you might not). I kind of like them. The action is fast and the adventures keep coming. These two grow on each other. I enjoy this author’s writing. She’s very engaging and keeps you wanting more. This is book 2 of the series and I find that I can’t wait for book 3. I shall be eagerly awaiting.

Operation Escape is the second book in the Space Force Rejects series. It is a unique and original sci-fi tale with fated mate’s trope. Make sure to read the first book in the series and the characters are intertwined.
This adventure story has a bit of everything that lovers of sci fi will enjoy. With experiments, altered DNA, tested loyalties, forced bonds, new alliances, lies and secrets you will not know who to trust and much more.
The characters are an interesting mob with a pansexual hero, a heroine who is a little naïve and out of her depth, and a ragtag crew of humanoid aliens and science experiments. It is easy to imagine this journey with these lovable quirky characters that Landra gave life to.
What should have been a simple mission leaves Sera and Markus fighting for their lives on an unknown and hostile planet.
This new world is full of action, danger, adventure with a little push and pull romance and is a story that should not be missed.
If you enjoy this sci fi or even if you don’t, give it a go.

Sera Kain has a mission, one she can’t complete with a pilot. Using her background as a logistics and data controller, she’s found the one man that might be willing to help her find her missing uncle with a little incentive.

Markus Engle resigned from military life to escape the destruction left by human expansion through the universe. He wants only a life of leisure and enjoyment on the pleasure planet of Kafgar. When Sera walks through the door of his business everything changes because he can’t tell her no. Not when her scent activates the military DNA modifications that make denying her impossible.

It’s a simple rescue mission on the prison planet, Earth, with Sera guiding the way. Only the snatch-n-save turns into an ambush and the pair find themselves trapped without a ship and no way out. To escape alliances will need to be formed and bargains made with the worst Space Force has encountered. For Markus and Sera, their future is fated, but making it off Earth alive to enjoy it will be damn near impossible.

I wasn’t really sure about this one. But page 1 sucks you right in! The details are absolutely stunning. You have Ravenna who is trying to rescue her lover. You have Dravos who is trying to commute his current sentence. Dravos wants Ravenna, but how since she loves another? I haven’t been able to put this book down. I cannot wait to get more of this series!!

This is not my normal genre for reading, but the cover looked was intriguing enough to give it a try. I had no idea what to expect from this book, like the saying goes “don’t judge a book by its cover!”. I am glad that I decided to go ahead and indulge into this interesting, entertaining read. The story was short, but was full of adventure, and this is enough to keep you enjoying the story from start to finish. Captain Ravenna is on a mission to rescue her love at any cost, or at least that’s what she thinks she needs to do. This includes teaming up with an untrustworthy alien named Dravos. Dravos is a prisoner that is out on his own mission to find the missing Space Force vessel, searching for freedom. The way their stories connect while searching to accomplish their missions is bound to draw you in. If you are looking for a new sci-fi read with love triangle romance then this is the book to pick up and give a try.

Not my usual Genre, but I was quickly immersed into the world, where we meet Dravos the Hirudian, (a form of alien vampire, that is an amazing tracker of things and people) finds that a reading given to him by an elder on his world comes true. He has been jailed for life, experimented on, and made to be larger in size than what is normal for his species. He is promised freedom if he works as a tracker on a mission with the Space Force.
Ravenna talks her way onto the mission to hopefully find her girlfriend.
Dravos senses that the elusive female captain is his mate, the other half of his soul that he never thought he would meet. And she is literally given the ability to end his life.
The story unfolds with drama, lust, grief, underhanded behaviour, missing crew members, traitors. Who do you trust, how will they find the answers to what happened to the crew of the missing scientific vessel.
And we watch as the relationship between Ravenna and Dravos grows, both of them trying to justify their feelings alongside finding retribution and acting on the behalf of those killed, how to complete their mission. And answering the question about what is at the centre of the universe.
A very well written book that has great world building and character development. I would certainly read more by this author.
Operation Pinpoint (Space Force Rejects #1) by Landra Graf

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Operation Pinpoint is the first book in the Space Force Rejects Series. This book is a great read and I loved every minute of it.

Ravenna is a Space Force employee. Her friend and lover goes missing along with the ship. She wants in on the mission to find said ship and she gets her way. Only problem is when they find the ship, her lover is dead. The quote I chose for Ravenna is: “You’d do better to keep me as your friend versus making me an enemy. My method is the only approach for this trip, especially if you want your freedom.”

Dravos isn’t exactly human. He’s a different species and he finds his mate in Ravenna. He doesn’t trust anyone. When he finds that maybe he can trust them they betray him and his mate. The quote I chose for Dravos is: “Answering you doesn’t ascertain my trustworthiness. If anything, someone willing to openly run their mouth should be considered more dangerous. They will weave tales like a druff spider, spinning their webs in the hopes of mesmerizing you enough to stay still before they strike.”

Highly recommended for Sci-Fi Romance lovers.

This sci-fi book of fated lovers was phenomenal, hands down amazing. At first, I needed time to understand the ranks and roles within the Space Force, but once I did, the pages turned so fast as I dove deeper and deeper into the story of Ravenna, searching for her lover Yve, as she combats sudden feelings for Dravos, held captive by Space Force. Let’s go, LGBT+ representation! Ravenna and Dravos go through so much together, and stand up for each other once they held eye contact together. Finding Yve was absolutely heartbreaking, but I loved the tenderness Dravos had and encouragement to keep her memory alive and finding out what the cause of her death was. Which, the cause of her death, huge twist I was not expecting. Brilliant turn of events.

OOOO I love a good sci-fi romance! This one was about fated mates. And oh no, the mate loves another. It was unique and I really enjoyed the world the author created for us. The main characters were interesting and I didn’t want to put this one down. I think the only thing that could have made this one better for me was if it was written in first pov instead of third but that is a personal preference. But This was a quick read and I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future.

Expect the unexpected. This story is one that grips you and doesn’t let go until you’re through. At first, I was surprised that Ravenna’s lover was a woman, but honestly, that built her character more for me. She’s relatable and a badass. Dravos is one of those people you can’t help but be curious about. I absolutely love this story, and I hope to read more soon.

This is the first book in the Space Force Rejects Series and wow! What a start! It’s a relatively short read but this is not one you want to pass up on. With a paranormal romance and sci-fi mix, this story really steps up the game of the genre.

Ravenna is a strong female lead who answers to no one. She has found the true love of her life but when tragedy strikes, everything she knew abruptly changes. Dravos has plans to avoid prison at all costs, yet the mission turns into a life-changing moment when he finds his fated mate…who is in love with someone else. With everything turning against them, will they be able to team up and save each other, or will it all unravel before their eyes?

I love both science fiction and paranormal romance, so this was a home run for me. I am excited to see what the rest of the series brings. Pick this up for a quick peek into the beginning of this amazing world!

It was full of adventure and excitement, the story definitely drew me in from the start and I couldn’t put the book down. The story had plenty of twists, right up to the end, and definitely kept me guessing what would happen next. The author did a fabulous job of creating a whole new universe that was well thought out and planned. Wow what a great read, I was totally surprised as this is a new author to me and I was not sure what to expect….I love a good Sci Fi Romance and I loved Ravenna and Dravos!!

Ravenna is just a strong, kick butt Captain who is all about finding her love after going missing on a mission aboard the Perseus. She does not hold back and bold, which I love about her. When Ravenna is on a rescue mission she also find herself in the confines of Dravos Trax. Dravos is “dangerous”…..or is he? Many people believe that Dravos and his fellow Hirudians are dangerous. Dravos is a prisoner, poked, prodded and experimented on…and was included to be on the mission with Ravenna to help find the Perseus…but what happens when Ravenna, Dravos and the team find the Perseus… Fated mates, betrayal, survival, attraction….I loved Ravenna and Dravos and this story! Captain Ravenna Joyner is a woman who has risen through the ranks of the Space Force and has a gained a reputation while doing it, but only one person has seen through that and actually made her happy and now they have disappeared and Ravenna will do anything to rescue them, even if that means working with someone she can’t stand and a prisoner who could kill her in seconds. Dravos Trax is a is an alien who has been imprisoned by humans for the last five years and has little to no trust for them, but when he is given the opportunity to be released from his captivity by tracking the missing Space Force ship the Perseus, he jumps at the chance, even if his life would be forfeit if he leads the others on the mission wrong.

As Ravenna joins the rest of the team she will be living with for the time it will take to complete the mission and find her lover, this is where she first lays eyes on the Tracker who will be accompanying them and the first impressions are interesting, she is more curious than fearful and in comparison to her crewmates, this is definitely not the norm, but she feels an unexpected connection to the alien in front of her, but she has no idea why. Dravos has been starved and when he first lays eyes and ears on the commandoes in front of him, all he can do is listen to the conversation and assess them, however, as soon as he sees the only woman in the group, he knows he is in trouble, her scent is unique and calls to him in a way that only his mate can and that is just his luck, that his mate would be a detestable human, but soon all he can think of is feeding as an irresistible meal is brought to him.

As the mission sets off, Dravos tries to keep his distance from Ravenna, but in the confines of a ship, this is not easy to do, but he is determined to do it until the mission is finished, especially when he finds out that the ship they are searching for harbours his mate’s lover, just another complications to add to things. Meanwhile, Ravenna is finding it difficult to keep the relationship with Dravos professional and is struggling with those feelings, but when they find the Perseus everything changes, so the team don their space suits and head to the ship and as they find body after body, but no sign of a struggle, they suspect something is wrong, but grief devastates Ravenna when they find her lovers body. Shortly after this, communications break down and Ravenna and Dravos are left on the ship by their fellow commandoes and told that they need to tie up loose ends, so they both go into survival mode and manage to escape by the skin of their teeth, but now they are stuck together trying to find out the who and the why behind the betrayal of her crew and the deaths of those aboard the Perseus.

Will Dravos and Ravenna manage to find the answers they seek, or will their survival be found out and their lives become endangered all over again? Will they allow the budding passion growing between them to flourish, or will revenge stop something before it can begin? This is a fantasy romance with space themed action throughout, as a race for answers ensues before fate catches those who try and outrun it in this engaging story.

Operation Pinpoint is a very original and fast-paced adventure in space. Captain Ravenna Joyner is on a mission to save her lover. Dravos Trax is on a mission to find Perseus; a missing Space Force vessel. When Ravenna and Dravos meet, there is an instant pull to each other but they have a lot to deal with. When the ship is located they find that all the occupants, including Ravenna’s lover, are dead. They find themselves betrayed and have to find a way to gain their freedom. Landra Graf has created an excellent original story. The characters are well-written and the world-building is amazing. I enjoyed the chemistry between Raveena and Dravos and all the action within the story. This book is the first in the series and I cannot wait to see how the story continues.

Captain Ravenna Joyner talks her way onto a rescue mission to find out what happened to her lover. She is dedicated to find her that Joyner is willing to give up anything and everything including her work in Space Force to find the woman who changed her life. As part of the mission, Joyner works with the alien Dravos Trax and holds the key to his life in her hands. He lives or dies on her whim. Once the ship is located, the mystery begins as to how and why the occupants died. But wait, the others on the mission are out to rid Joyner and Dravos from ever taking information or evidence back to headquarters. Putting their feelings aside the two work together to find the real reason for the death of the spaceship and how to save the universe along the way finding a forbidden love in each other and finding out how to live with the crazy passion that they feel for each other. Not the typical type of book that I usually read but such a great story that I was not disappointed. The characters are so diverse and unique, and the lead is such a strong female character with a glimpse of softness and emotion. Dravos is such an amazing character who is totally finds himself at the mercy of Joyner in all aspects of his life. I loved this book and found it very easy to read and to get involved in the love affair between Joyner and Dravos. This book was exciting from page one and never let up in the emotion, excitement, or mystery of who killed the spaceship crew. Looking forward to many more stories about Space Force Rejects!
