Bake Believe AUDIO BOOK by Cori Cooper- Review by Lauren West

“Bake Believe” has officially turned me on to audio books. It was such a cute story, and the way it was told really had your imagination running. The narrator made that story everything and more. I listened to it every chance I had, and the time fly by each chapter making it hard to believe it was as long as it was.
The story starts with Cat who is newly entering 8th grade. Her and her cousin Robyn are excited for new electives, boys, and a great new year. First day of school she is put into an elective for culinary arts. New and unfamiliar because her mother does absolutely no cooking unless its frozen or pre-made its a new experience for her. She excited to bake and be with her classmates but soon starts to receive odd behavior from her mother who doesn’t want her to cook or take the class. As the story unfolds we learn that there are family secrets deep within Cats family, and while her aunt bakes with love and her mother scorns the kitchen as whole its Cat who we find with some extraordinary powers in the kitchen. Its a very fun story and each chapter ending provides a recipe related to the chapter. Kids and adults will appreciate this book!

Check Out (The Bobbins Sisters Series Book 1) by Debra Parmley – Review by Lauren West

Check OutCheck Out by Debra Parmley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is very cute, and there were a lot of layers with it. Nash and Betsy Felt something the moment they met. Nash is very much the ideal book boyfriend. He is sweet, handsome, protective, and loyal. The moment he laid eyes on Betsy all those instincts came out , and a silent courtship began. Betsy was a bit harder to gage. She felt the attraction but she was very introverted and to herself. She had the feelings for him, but it took a lot more warming up for her. When her sister Leanne arrives Betsy Is a bit more free, but on the fence with Nash. There is quite a bit of cat and mouse play between them, and when he steps in to help with Leanne’s stalker it ups the ante for everything. It’s a very romantic story and there’s lots of intrigue attached to it. This read is very much worth it.

STUMPED (TO LOVE A SPORTSMAN SERIES Book 2) by PAMELA Q. FERNANDES – Review by Lauren West

Stumped: Love Behind the Wickets (To Love a Sportsman, #2)Stumped: Love Behind the Wickets by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first book by this author, and I loved it. Claude and Delilah had a bitter sweet sort of relationship, and all the ups and downs made you on unsure of where things would go. Delilah was sweet and loving, and truly Claudes number one fan. Claude had a sort of arrogance to him, and it feels as if he took the Delilah for granted. Their summer of love, romance, and marriage was a whirlwind. The divorce gave you a sense of tragedy. Their love felt like the seasons and you truly were not sure where things would go when they reconnected. This book is one not to be missed.

This book is an easy read ,and a lot of fun. Sheldon and Simone were amazing characters. The light hearted banter and everything leading up to them finally being together we’re timed perfectly. Simone was very closed off, and she clearly wasn’t seeking love or a relationship. Sheldon was exact opposite looking for love, but apparently in all the wrong places. Watching Sheldon and Simone come together was beautiful, and fun. Plus I’m a big fan of animals and rescues and bringing those into a book always factor a wonderful outcome.I can say I had a lot of popcorn and cookies reading this novel

The Murders of Lillian Ross by Sirena Van Schaik – Review by Lauren West

Read in July 2021
This book is very much one-of-a-kind.
While you can’t justify murder the story truly pulls at your heartstrings. Allison and Lillian are kindred spirits, and one could easily be the other. The story is woven so intricately that you wonder where one begins and the other ends. It’s very obvious that’s why Lillian chose Allison, and why she knew her story would be portrayed exactly as it needed to be. A true crime Writer and a woman convicted of murder. Watching the story unfold you can’t help but wonder and feel what ifs, the why and what the future will be.

This book was soo much fun to read. The author created this amazing and original new world and provided us with the most unique characters to inhabit it. Kerrie Noor weaves together this quirky ,funny, sarcastic, and witty Sci-Fi Comedy where we explore a true battle of men vs. women. We start of being introduced to the world of Planet Hy Man and watch as men and women come to inhabit this desolate planet. Motherland (Tom Grant #3)Motherland by Samantha Adair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first novel by Samantha Adair, and I am far from disappointed! This is my first time reading a book in the Tom Grant series, and since this is book 3 I am eager to play catch up with the other 2. There was so much depth and detail that really fueled the story.

In a country she is no longer welcome in she encounters a great deal of complications fulfilling this promise. Together her and Tom experience a journey in the motherland that is filled with a lot of action, suspense, and heartbreak. Each chapter takes us deeper in a conquest of the unknown, and leaves you wondering if her promise can be fulfilled or will her homeland finally take her down. This is a thriller you do no want to miss.

The Divine DevilsThe Divine Devils by R. Weir
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was absolutely amazing! It has to be one of the top books I have read this year, and I did not want it to end. The amount of action, suspense, mystery and intrigue will keep you reading late into the night and on the edge of your bed. Hunter is a former US Marshal who lost his career due to a situation which was no fault of his own, and now he is trying to navigate the next phase of his life with little sense of purpose. When Paige calls upon him to help her with kidnappers who are after her children not once, but twice now he knows he has to do it. This book will keep you guessing each step of the way each chapter gives us intricate plot twists, torture, kidnapping, gore/violence, and even a love spark of old flames. Wine and popcorn are definitely a need for this page turner.

I can honestly say that romantic suspense is slowly becoming one of my favorite new genres. This is only the second story I have read by Amy McKinley, and each book only gets better.
It is a short read, but still a complete page turner until the end. Nadia was a predator and Cade was her prey. It was a mission that turned disasterous when her feelings could not be put aside, and her only option was walk away and fight the temptation of love. Years to come they both wonder about the other, and the cirumstances of their encounter.
When they meet again its a second chance at possible love, but only if they can overcome the untold secrets and demons of the past.

In His Kiss (Unrequited Series Book 1) By Ava Alise- Review by Lauren West

In His KissIn His Kiss by Ava Alise
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ava Alise takes us an amazing journey of being best friends to more.
Jordan and Xia were best friends from conception in the womb. Every good memory and moment was one they shared and celebrated together. Each had feelings for other but kept that silence scared to cross the line. Every moment of the friendship took them to the present and reflected how perfect they would be together. When a drunken night turns into more it soon becomes a scared reality for each. Is this meant to be, or was this mistake. Throw in family struggles, lost loves, meddling ex-girlfriends, and friends cheering on the sidelines.
Jordan and Xia were young but mature. Watching their love unfold wa beautiful and it lit that spark that love like that does and can exist. Its a book I highly recommend.
