Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry (The Infinite Love Series, Book 1) – Review by Jennifer Wolbeck

Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry (The Infinite Love Series, Book 1)Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry by Kira Adams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read Learning to Live in two days, and I’m not an uncommonly fast reader. I just couldn’t put the book down. I’m also the type that prefers going into a book completely blind. I really hate spoilers, so most of the time I’ll only go into it with only the title, author, cover art and genre. When I picked up Learning to Live, I knew that it was a romance novel, so I assumed it was about a woman “learning to live” after escaping an abusive relationship. Instead, the story I got was a wildly different YA, coming of age. I loved every moment of it and spent the last 30% of the novel holding back tears. There’s a quote from the main character, Ciera, that’s very fitting: “I love how romance authors can make you feel every emotion in their books, and you feel invested in the characters. By the end of the story, you feel as if you know them on some kind of personal level, and you mourn the loss of them when it’s over.” In this way, Kira Adams gets everything right. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a rich, compelling story about learning to live and how to love. My only nitpick is that there should have been a warning for graphic bullying, nudity and for being sexually explicit. I do not believe that any of these elements were gratuitous or unnecessary to the plot, but it’s important to respect the boundaries and expectations of readers. There is a disclaimer in the online synopsis, but not in the book itself.

Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry is the first book in The Infinite Love Series by Kira Adams . Holy Cow I was not expecting the emotional rollercoaster ride this book takes you on. Forewarning have kleenex close by because you are going to need them. I was drawn in from the beginning and couldn’t stop reading till I finished. There are moments my heart was simply broken and other times I wanted to shake him. I absolutely loved Ciera I felt bad for her and everything she went through . Let me just say I was not a fan of Topher at first but I warmed up to him as the story went along. Im not going to give anything away but I will say I highly recommend reading this book. You wont be disappointed I sure wasn’t. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of those books that will break your heart while also trying to make it whole again.

Ciera has been bullied since middle school and just wants to make it through her senior year. Topher is one of those bullies, but has found that being at the top of the high school pyramid isn’t always as glamorous and amazing as people make it out to be. Once Ciera shows up on Topher’s radar, she seems to be everywhere. A chance encounter during detention one day will change the course of both of their lives.

While I don’t want to give away the plot of the story because it is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time, I feel like Ciera and Topher come into each other’s lives when they both need it. Each brings something to the other’s life that will change them and stay with them forever. I definitely needed some tissues while reading…but I still enjoyed every page.

I absolutely loved reading this book. This was a very emotional read for many different reasons. Ciera will grab your heart from the start, she is strong, intelligent and goes through so much. It took me a little more time to warm up toTopher but he grows so much in this story. There is love, loss, growth, laughter and tears. The author did such an excellent job conveying the emotions the characters were going through. Once I started reading this book I couldn’t put it down, I read it entirely in one sitting. This is a must read, I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed reading Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry (The Infinite Love Series Book One) by Kira Adams. This is my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. She pulls you in from the beginning and ensures to hold your interest until the very last page. The characters I was torn at first on how I felt about them, I loved Ciera and god felt for her after all she endured, Topher I wasn’t really a fan of at first but I came to like him. What will come from these two? Will they get a happy ever after? The author did an amazing job bringing the book and characters to life! My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ciera and Topher go to the same school and are the same age but they don’t interact much, he is part of the group which bullies her everyday and that means that they were in such different social social circles that he barely even acknowledges her existence. Topher is dating the head cheerleader and he is on the football team, they are the dream couple that everyone wants to either be with or just be, but underneath that perfect exterior, Topher is just going through the motions with her and he also knows that she is cheating on him, but doesn’t care enough to act on it, but when he finds out something a little closer to home, his emotions get the best of him and instead of being numb, he is just angry and in need of distraction. Meanwhile Ciera is always trying to be invisible, she doesn’t look anyone in the eye, or talk to anyone but her best friend and tries to avoid the popular kids as much as possible, she also is trying her best to keep her family’s head above water by working and looking after her siblings when she is not at school but it is at work and at home where she can be more herself. .

As Topher is avoiding going home but knows he has to eventually, he takes notice of the girl who is being tormented by his friends, but he can’t understand her at all, but he also doesn’t care enough to try, although he does notice that she makes eye contact with one person, it is then that he realises that she is intriguing to him. However, Ciera is just trying to avoid him and his friends, but when she goes to the bathroom, she is confronted by two of the popular girls and as usual they just insult her, but this time, they have put gum in her hair and all her pent up emotion escapes, she is then shocked when someone else comes into the bathroom and is actually nice to her, what is more shocking is that it is another of the popular crowd and she doesn’t know how to react to the kindness, apart from to say thank you.

When the next football game comes along Topher goes through the his normal pre game routine, but when he looks over and sees a girl in a yellow sundress he is shocked at his reaction and later on when he sees her at a party, he still cannot believe it, when it turns out it is Ciera. Earlier on that afternoon Ciera got off work early and went to the recommended hairdresser and when her new friend takes her shopping and gives her a makeover, the results are as shocking to her as to everyone else, although when she gets to the party, things do not go as planned and the usual insults fly until she leaves and Topher ends up giving her a lift home, even though he is intoxicated.

As time goes on, Topher can’t seem to keep his distance from Ciera and much to her consternation, neither can she, especially when she gets some news which leads her to decide to live life to the fullest, but will anything develop between her and Topher, or will the barriers between them be too high to overcome? Will Topher be able to learn to live with everything he has found out recently, or will he remain numb to the beauty of the world around him? The only way to find out is to follow along on their journey with them in this emotional rollercoaster which will make you feel everything along with them.

Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry (The Infinite Love Series, Book 1)Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry by Kira Adams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Learning to Live by Kira Adams a must read five-star read. This is number one in the infinite love series and I need number two now, this one had me sobbing in the toilets at work, I had tried to sneak a few pages in at lunch time, just as the ball was dropped and well, even though I knew it was coming, there was just something that made that one scene just so much more powerful, the drugs will put lots off as not everyone agrees but everyone should have the choice, and if you don’t you need to read this story. I am not going to lie, I hated Topher at first, him and all of the A-Team, they all just made me want to get violent, but he did get there and that was all Ciera, she was a compelling character, and one I wished we heard more from, her love for her family and life was sublime, she just kept barrelling through whatever terrible thing was thrown at her and that takes strength not many possess. I am so desperate for number two, but I honestly don’t know if I am strong enough, maybe I should steal some of Ciera’s strength.

Learning To Live (Book One in the Infinite Love series) by Kira Adams was an incredible read! If you cry easily and are easily moved, you may want to stay away because this book will have you bawling by the end! It has ALL of the emotions of a great book! I fell in love with the cover but I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with the contents as much as I did. It was emotional, and moving, and heartbreaking and so extremely hard to put down. This book was also hard to read, in the emotional, not knowing exactly what to expect kind of way. This book was real, and heartbreaking and more beautiful in my opinions because of that. I absolutely can not wait to read the next installment of this series!

If you’re looking for a book to bring on those tears then look no further! Learning to Live is an emotional read that I loved from beginning to end. The way in which the author had written it I could tell she had really put her heart and soul into these characters lives, journey and story. Ciera was probably one of the strongest female characters I have read about in a long time, after everything she went through in the story I really admired her strength. I really enjoyed reading about her story and Topher as well.
This is definitely an emotional read and one that had me thinking about it long after I had finished. I highly recommend it to others and I look forward to reading more from Ms Adams again in the future.

Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry (The Infinite Love Series, Book 1)Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry by Kira Adams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Learning To Live: An Enemy To Lovers Ugly Cry is the first book in The Infinite Love Series by Kira Adams. The first thing I have to say about this book is that the author got it spot on when putting ‘Ugly Cry’ in the title. I have to admit that I sobbed like a baby reading this book. Tissues are a MUST when reading this book. I don’t cry a lot when reading books but when I do I know it’s a sign that the author has done an amazing job to set my emotions off so much.
I had never read any of Kira Adams work before reading this book but this certainly wont be the last book of hers I read. I’m already desperate to read the 2nd book to see what happens to Topher next.
I have to admit that Enemy to Lovers is one of my favourite romance tropes. I love reading the thought process as a character begins to realise that their feelings towards their ‘enemy’ is changing. Ciera and Topher’s story fulfilled this really well and I loved reading their story.
Ciera is one of the most amazing characters I have ever read. I loved her from the beginning of the book and as her story progressed I loved her even more. She really put me through the wringer.
I would 100% recommend this book to others and don’t forget the tissues. I guarantee you are going to need them.

Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry (The Infinite Love Series, Book 1)Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry by Kira Adams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow where to start with this book. It is the first book I have read in a long time that has reduced me to tears several times over. It is so beautifully written  that the emotion jumps right off the page and effects the reader so much.

Ciera is an outcast at school. She has spent her life being bullied for being poor and unpopular but she keeps her head down and gets on with life. Little does anyone know she is dealing with a serious illness which could end her life.

Topher is a popular guy and a main part of the A-Team. He is rich and self centred never caring for anyone but himself. When he dad revels a secret to him his life starts to unravel and he finds himself drawn towards Ciera.

Together they shouldn’t work. They are too different. But they do work and work well. Both of them find strength in each other and the will to starting living life instead of just existing.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Learning to Live is the first book I have read by Kira Adams, but I can’t wait to read more. There plan to be 5 books in this series, which I am totally stoked for! There is so many deep topics in this book, which brought out all the feelings. It is somewhat a coming of age story, but so much more. You will read about topics such as bullying, suicide, depression, death, love and loss. Ciera and Topher have been going to the same school for most of their life. However, Topher hardly knows she exists, except that his friends bully her daily for years. Ciera is to the point of just trying to be invisible to avoid it…counting down the days until graduation. But when life brought them together, it turns out they were the best thing for each other. The thing they never knew they needed. Wonderful characters, all so real and relatable. Grab a box of kleenex and a comfy throw, and curl up with your kindle. You won’t want to put this book down.

This is the first book in The Infinite Love series. This is a Contemporary Romance novel and is about 200 pages in length. This story follows Ciera and Topher, both high school seniors and socially as far apart as anyone can get. Ciera does not have much and is constantly bullied. Topher is the hot football player who can have anyone or anything he wants. Except his home life is something he keeps hidden. These two have more in common that they think.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Learning to Live by Kira Adams is book one of the Infinite Love series.

I could not get enough of this book! I read it in one sitting and definitely wasn’t expecting it to turn out the way it did. I couldn’t stop reading until I knew what was going to happen! Ciera is just trying to make it through each day. She has to deal with bullies and mean pranks but she just had to get through the days. Topher is accustomed to living life a certain way. He didn’t really care too much about anyone other than himself. All it took was one look at Ciera after a little shopping trip with Madalynne and Topher is intrigued. Ciera took everything Topher thought and flipped it on its head. Ciera thought for sure she’d have to rely on herself to make it through her senior year. She had no idea she really needed Topher.

This book had so many emotions. I found myself in tears more than once! So heart breaking but there were some cute moments between Topher and Ciera. He turned out better than I had expected. His character definitely grows on you. I can’t wait to read more!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry is the first book in the Infinite Love series by Kira Adams. I was so not ready for the emotional walloping that comes with this book. This is both a heartbreaking and touching love story- bringing up a myriad of emotions as I followed the characters through all their ups and downs.
I loved Ciera and really felt for everything she went through. I wasn’t so keen on Topher at the beginning- but he did win me over after a while- much to my surprise. There is a sweetness to their story too- which I wasn’t expecting either. But that ending- no words- sooo many tears. GAH!
I really don’t want to go into the story and give anything away which would ruin it for you. But if you love a heart-wrenching and emotional reads- then this is definitely the book for you.

Thank you, Kira Adams!

I don’t even know where to begin with this one. I was not ready for the emotional roller coaster ride I was taken on with this story.

From the very first chapter I felt such strong emotions, from anger, hatred, sadness, empathy, etc. I felt it all and it didn’t let up until I reached the very end. The amount of tears I shed should probably be embarrassing but I couldn’t help it. This author wrote with so much detail that I was able to connect with the characters on such a deep level. This story felt so real, it was as if I was really experiencing this story in real life, and that is a true testament to this author’s writing ability and talent.

It’s not every day that you read a book as great as this one. This was my first book by this author but it will not be my last. I will be diving into every single one of her books ASAP.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a life changing read, one that will leave you in tears, absolutely shredded but coming out on the other side with a different outlook on life. This is not a book that should be missed.

Learning to Live is book one in the Infinite Love series by Kira Adams. It is an enemy to lovers story and one that sounded intriguing and attention grabbing right from the get go. Learning this new to me author’s writing style was a rewarding experience. I love to read new and exciting authors that breathe some new life and personality into the romance genre. Kira Adams’ characters were colourful, stimulating, interesting and vulnerable. Ciera was a woman who did not realise her worth and capabilities. She learns a lot about herself and turns into a confident, self assured woman. Topher is a character that you warm up to gradually, and needs Ciera to help him realise you catch more flies with honey, so to speak. From bad boy to lovable lad, their personalities develop and they became a couple who I absolutely adored. The story was written with outstanding high quality and it is always apparent when the author puts everything into delivering a compelling and emotional read. A 5 star effort.

I loved reading the book Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry (The Infinite Love Series Book One) by Kira Adams. It is a story that had my emotions going up and down. I loved the character of Ciera. She is a young woman who is intelligent, strong, and faces situations that are very difficult to endure. I had a harder time warming up to Topher, He is arrogant, confident, and is seeing Ciera in a new light. After a while, he developed into a character that I liked. What does the future hold for them? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me turning pages to see what happens next. The author does a wonderful job of making the story and the characters come alive. There are additional characters some of whom are friendly and others who are hurtful. Don’t miss out on an amazing book that is entertaining and takes you on an emotional journey that you will not soon forget. I highly recommend reading it.

Learning to Live: An Enemy to Lovers Ugly Cry (The Infinite Love Series, #1) by Kira Adams

Adams has made my heart break with this story. Learning to Live is an amazing tear-jerker. It’s a great read and I can’t wait for the next one.

Ciera is in her senior year and has a brain mass. No one outside her mom knows she’s dying. Oregon is the one state where she can assist suicide. She’s chosen a date and falls in love. The quote I chose for Ciera is: “You don’t care what anyone thinks anymore. Your reputation is the least of your worries.”

Topher is the jock popular guy who picks on others. When he finds that his girlfriend is sneaking around with his best friend things change. He knows Ciera and he’s picked on her. When she seizes in front of him he panics. The quote I chose for Topher is: “Are we really going to play the what-if game? What if Sophia hadn’t slept with Joe? What if my dad wasn’t gay? It doesn’t f**king matter because it’s not real. I can’t take back the sh***y things I did to you, but I can be a better person. I can’t explain the way you make me feel, but I can tell you I’ve never felt more alive in my entire life than when I’m with you.”

Highly recommended for contemporary romance lovers.

“ We made no sense. She was oil and I was water.. but somehow, we worked. No one would ever understand it fully, and I liked that. “

I was woefully under prepared for how much this book was going to wreck me. I also did not expect to love it as much as I did. Learning to live deserves all 5 stars and then some! It was so well written plus the characters jumped right off the page into my head and my heart. Every scene in this book was described so well I felt like I was experiencing everything first hand with Topher and Ciera. The last 20% or so of the book had my heart literally in pieces. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes this genre or even someone just looking for an powerful, innocent love story.

Their story is one of healing, hope and love. One is broken and learns that it is okay to live and what that means for them. The other is determined to help heal and teach life. Their story is emotional with ups and downs. They have great chemistry and they just made a great story. I highly recommend this book.
