Sweets and Santa (The Matchmaking Baker Book 2) by Rosie Pease – Review by Liz Vrchota

Sweets and Santa (The Matchmaking Baker, #2)Sweets and Santa by Rosie Pease
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Where have I been that I missed this sweet and engaging author?? I haven’t read anything by her but when it came across my timeline I saw the bright and sweet cover and knew I had to check it out and see what story laid beyond it. I was so pleasantly surprised with how much this novel swept me off my feet as I read. This book has all the holiday cheer you could want with a holiday book and plenty of other layers like cozy mystery, romance, and some paranormal tidbits as well. There is literally something for everyone in this perfect holiday read. I will personally be going back for more of Heartwood Hollow’s stories and more of Joanie I hope as well. These characters will make you feel as if you have a whole new family to visit from time to time. I want someday to experience a small town Christmas like the Hallmark movies tote because it seems so magical and unique. This book read like a Hallmark movie and has won a spot on my favorite list. I can’t wait to see what else Rosie Pease has available and whatever may come in the future from her!

First, We Kill All the Lawyers (Donovan Trait Series) by Seelie Kay – Review by Liz Vrchota

First, We Kill All the LawyersFirst, We Kill All the Lawyers by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I always know I am in for one heck of a read when I pick up anything by Seelie Kay. She has a way of weaving stories that keep me engaged and well on the edge of my seat as I read. I was excited to see this new series, Donovan Trait, and the first book this one, was something with a bit of a twist to her other works. This has a heavy paranormal side to it with vampires and all the lore that goes with them. I loved how this wove a typical plot line but kept things interesting with interweaving the vampire storyline as well. I was constantly wondering if I had things figured out only to find out I was wrong lol, those are the best books to me personally. I loved every moment of this one and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series and to see where this new storyline will go.

Gianluca (Marini Family Romance Book 1) by Isabella Cassazza – Review by Liz Vrchota

Gianluca (Marini Family #1)Gianluca by Isabella Cassazza
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I couldn’t get enough of this books witty and intriguing story. In fact I found myself reading well into the night to find out what would happen with the characters that I fastly fell in love with in Gianluca. This is the first in the Marini Family Romance series from Isabella Cassazza and like I said this one has a lot of wit and humor laced in with the romance story to keep the reader fully engaged from beginning to end. I loved how I was swoony while I read the story of Gianaluca and Callie. These two are some opposites for sure but the balance they find with their differences is something we all could be envious of. I loved the premise and the backstage pass to the fashion industry as well. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!

Secure Boxed Set: Chase Security Series Books 1-3 by R.L. Dunn – Review by Liz Vrchota

Secure Boxed Set (Chase Security #1-3)Secure Boxed Set by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What more could you want than three exciting and action filled novels in one convenient boxed set? I love boxed sets because I can enjoy series in a much more convenient way and this one was no different. I was excited to see the Secure Books come to us in a set. I will be snagging a few for some gifts this year as this is just in time for gifting season. Below you will find my individual reviews for each book in the set. This is one you don’t want to miss!

SECURE DESIRE :
I must say I am struggling a tad with exactly where or how I want to place this book on a star scale. I have never had the pleasure of reading anything R.L. Dunn prior to Secure Desire so I was completely new all of her writing style. Dunn has one hell of a knack for detailed writing. While I loved that most of the time I felt like I was right there with the characters and in the moment I could have done without some of it sometimes. It felt a tad heavy. Only because I wanted to get to the the point and found myself several times confused in the novel. There is immaculate research done clearly evident as well, but again, I don’t want to feel as if I am in the History Channel.

Bottom line, I adored the story for what it was, and found myself falling in love with Ian and Cassie quickly. I was invested in them from the get-go and was on the edge of my seat wondering how everything was going to turn out for them in the end. Which I must say was quite unpredictable as well! Another fantastic plus. I look forward to checking out more of the Chase Group Stories and whatever else is available or will be to come from R.L. Dunn.

SECURE AGAIN:
Ohhhh my, I just totally adored this book. I was completely sucked into it and couldn’t put it down until I had soon consumed it in one full sitting. Literally, I never even got up to cook supper this book consumed me that much it lead to a fantastic pizza night in our household!

Elizabeth Reed is everything you want to see in a female lead. A strong and fierce force to be reckoned with when it comes to medical integrity, she truly made this book so delicious to read. I Farmer (Martin) Bailey is the type of man that makes you weak in the knees; delicious, strong, protective, and down-right a hot Alpha lead. Elizabeth finds herself questioning the injuries that are coming in with the inmates from the local jail. As a doctor something doesn’t seem right and she is determined to get the the bottom of it. Just as that is heating up she is also faced with the fact that she is keeping the brother of the man she loves alive. These two do not have a pretty past but can they work together and find a beautiful future together? I can’t wait to see what the next book in the Chase Group stories will bring us.

SECURE HEART:
This has been a fun series to follow and this book being the third, I would suggest reading the previous two before diving into this one. We really grow and get to know the Chase Security team throughout them but the characters overlap from book to book. Dunn really has a knack for writing a well developed and layered story. I love that the romance is simply a layer, not the whole read, and in doing so it becomes an enhancement not a chore to read. I was anxious to get my hands on this one and discover more of Julian, and was he as smooth and sexy as I ever expected. Holly and Sadie bring a sweet and sassy side to the story and kept me giggling at times with some of Sadies antics and points of view. I really look forward to seeing what we will get in the next installment.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just love this little gem of a holiday tale. I shared this with my children all from ages 13 to 6 months and they were engrossed in the story and loved the ‘real elves on the shelf’ as the would say. It is fun and enthralling and felt like a small escape to Iceland. I love sharing different cultures and traditions from all over the world with my children and this is the perfect book to do that. I have a feeling this will now be a new tradition for us as we read this together each holiday season. This is one you don’t want to miss!

Lies That Bind (Logan McKenna Series Book 6) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Liz Vrchota

Lies That Bind (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 6)Lies That Bind by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the sixth novel in the Logan McKenna series from Valerie Davisson. I have loved these books from the get go with book one, and every time I pick one up I know it is going to be quite the mind sucking read. I would personally recommend that you read these books in the correct order because the main characters really have some intense character growth and it is much easier to follow along with. In Lies That Bind we find Logan McKenna as she is about to meet her half sister, Olivia. The two of course are also thrown a curveball and we find them thrust in the middle of a murder conspiracy. I couldn’t put this book down and I was so enthralled with it I lost track of time. I cannot wait to see what adventures we will get in upcoming novels!

UnwrappedUnwrapped by Evelyn Sola
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am new to Evelyn Sola but when I saw the gorgeous cover I knew I had to know what was between them. I am really glad I took the chance because this book is so adorable and perfect for the holiday season. This year is difficult for everyone and we have more time on our hands to do the simple things like read all the Holiday themed novels lol. This is a perfect addition to that list if you have one. The story is a contemporary romance with some age gap issues and opposites attract type sidelines. Miranda and Nick may have some odds stacked against them and will of course have some situations that will impede the newfound romance before it can really get off the ground. I loved these two though and was cheering for them to find that magical holiday feel and happily ever after. It was an ending I couldn’t have been more pleased with and now I look forward to seeing what else is available from Evelyn Sola!

Love Heels! The TV news business can be murderLove Heels! The TV news business can be murder by Lynne Russell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lynne Russell has once again brought us more fabulous PJ Santini in this third book of the series, Love Heels! The TV News Business Can be Murder. This book is the perfect lazy weeknd read and will keep you entertained as you try to figure out the outcome for Santini this time. I love these books because they really bring a realness that makes you feel as if you are right there with the character. It is accurate and hilarious at times while keeping the adventure level turned all the way up. I won’t detail too much more on the contents of this PJ Santini case other than what else is given in the synopsis but I can assure you this is one you don’t want to miss. I loved every moment of trying to follow and guess the case details of PJ’s latest and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next!

Urban Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 2) by India Kells – Review by Liz Vrchota

Urban Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel #2)Urban Justice by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was so excited and ready to get my hands on this second book, Urban Justice, in the Chicago Vigilantes series from India Kells I adored the first and was literally on the edge of my seat waiting for this one, much like I am now in anticipation for a third. Urban Justice focuses on Sloane and Luke as they once again try to save Chicago. The energy in this book is intense right out of the gate and doesn’t stop until you read the last words. I found myself transported to the underground of Chicago and the adventure and romance was enough to keep me enthralled from beginning to end. I would recommend that you read the first one before this one though, it will give you the best experience and this is a series you don’t want to miss one word of. I won’t give much more details than what is in the synopsis because I cannot let this one be spoiled. It will be worth every minute you spend with it.

Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie: A Gripping Thriller (Jake Wolfe Book 1) by Mark Nolan – Review by Liz Vrchota

Dead Lawyers Don't Lie (Jake Wolfe, #1)Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie by Mark Nolan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This novel kicks off a new Jake Wolfe series from Mark Nolan. I loved how this book literally hits you in the face with action from the very beginning and keeps you on the edge of your seat until that very last chapter. I felt like I got so much with this novel and I am super excited that there will be more to come in the series with these characters.

This starts off with Jake Wolfe, a military vet who is working as a photojournalist in the prime of his days. At the moment he is following a hot lead on a story that will thrust him into the life of a high ranking lawyer. His goal is to simply dig up some details for his story and instead witnesses the lawyers murder! From there the ride is wild and full of twists and turns that are completely unpredictable. I can’t wait to get my hands on book two!

The Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Sound of SilenceThe Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy buckets batman…. This book will kill your emotions, rip out your heart, and then ever so slowly begin to put you back together. I will say I kinda knew what I was getting into with the blurb, that it was going to be difficult and hard to read with the subject of center being domestic violence. I hate to admit it to this day but I have been here and I have friends who have been put in the hospital and through literal hell to find their way to freedom again. This is never an easy topic to read about or talk about, but it is one that needs to be more prevalent. We need more novels like this one to show the women in the struggle, or men, that they are not alone and there is light to be found at the end of the tunnel. This book does a very good job of approaching these subjects with care, research, and class. I could tell Dakota Willink places this subject close to her heart and it showed in the way this book came out. I was so moved by her author’s note chapter that I found myself tearing up there too. This book will wreck you like I said, but it is so worth every moment and you will remember it long after you finish reading it. I look forward to seeing what else is available from Dakota Willink as she is a new author to me and this was my first experience reading her stuff so I am sure it will be something worth investing in soon.

The Bullet Theory (Dr. Nolan Mills Book 1) by Sonya Jesus – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Bullet Theory (Dr. Nolan Mills, #1)The Bullet Theory by Sonya Jesus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just love all of Sonya Jesus’s novels so when I saw she was putting out a new psychological thriller I could not wait to get my hands on it. This is book one in the her newest series, Dr. Nolan Mills, and I promise you this will legit blow your socks off. I was so sucked into this book I literally had to remove myself from people to devour it because I was turning into a grumpy mama bear with each distraction. I could not put this sucker down and it has quickly become my favorite novel yet from Sonya.

This thing is jam packed with adventure, action, revenge, mystery, psychological plot twists and more. I was so invested in finding out how things would turn out for the main character Eleanor. She has had enough of her failing relationship and now she has her mind set on revenge. She seeks a therapist to help her through this, Dr. Nolan Mills. The doctor quickly becomes a man of mystery and intrigue making you second guess everything you read about him. This book will make you feel as if you are watching a crazy movie, complete with the yelling and tossing objects at the characters, only with a kindle. I cannot wait to see where the next book will take us and I so so need it like yesterday! This is one killer book hangover but oh so worth every bit of it!!

Starvation by Molly Fennig – Review by Liz Vrchota

StarvationStarvation by Molly Fennig
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So I knew going into this story it was going to be a tense read that would really make me think and play with my emotions. I was probably a little underprepared though lol. I have to say this book is very well written and engaging but be prepared to want to scream and cry all at once more often than not while reading. I have had very dear friends of my struggle with eating disorders and this book really captures what it is like to not only live with one yourself but the way this impacts family and friends and others too. I was very much wrapped up in Matt, our main character’s story. He brings a fresh new light to the concept because this doesn’t get addressed nearly as much with males who can just as much be impacted with eating disorders as a female. Matt has to take quite the journey and will deal with loss in ways that will tear your heart out. I won’t really give much more details but this is one you really must read. I do look forward to seeing what else will come from Molly Fennig, I have not before read her work and this definitely sucked me in and made me want to see more.

Fake Fiancé (A Second Chance Office Romance) by Amy McKinley – Review by Liz Vrchota

Fake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office RomanceFake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have always loved Amy McKinley’s romance novels so when I saw this newest one dropped and was a novella length read I scooped it up without even thinking twice. I love how this book was a novella, short and sweet, but you still felt as if you got a whole full length novel. This book packs a big punch in a small package. McKinley has always brought the emotion and flare to her characters and Adeline and Stone do not deviate from this. They are complex characters. I loved the push and pull between these two and how we got to see it from both of them in different ways. I felt as if I was reading about a real set of people being thrust into a situation that is bound to have some laughs and very much so has the ability to be disastrous. This is one you will not want to miss! I cannot wait to see what we will get next from Ms. McKinley!

HUNTED (HUNTED series Book 1) by Sarah Biglow & Molly Zenk – Review by Liz Vrchota

HuntedHunted by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I sincerely love when these two get together and write these amazing and gripping novels that I soak up like my favorite drink on a hot day. HUNTED is the first in a new series from Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk. These two always create these worlds that carry you away and make you feel as if you are right there with the characters as you read. I will be honest though, vampire books and movies, etc, are not my fav… I know how could I but honestly to me this is a trope that is overplayed usually…. NOT the case here. This felt fresh and adventurous, and most of all it felt as if it could have been real and believable. I was swept up into this world where vampires walk amongst us and we don’t deny it. Unfortunately, for them they still need to protect themselves from being hunted and eradicated. I loved the characters in this and was completely engrossed from the very first chapter until the final few words of the last. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next novel and see where it will take me!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this novel, as Carmen Radtke is a new author to me. I loved the cover and it drew me in right away. When I sat down to read this book I felt as if I was whisked away to the far past when sailing was a luxury and way of life. The mystery behind this story was fabulously written and engaging. I almost felt as if I was a murder mystery dinner play having the time of my life figuring out who dun it with the wonderful cast of characters that make up this book. This is the third book in the Jack and Frances mysteries but I had zero problem jumping right in and loving France and Jack. I am excited to find out what they get up to in the first two books now that I have devoured this one. If mysteries are your thing this is a series you don’t want to miss out on!

Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters Book 4) by Martin Ferguson – Review By Liz Vrchota

Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters, #4)Blood of the Dragon by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood of the Dragon is the fourth thrilling installment in the Relic Hunters series from Martin Ferguson. While you could probably read this as a standalone, I would personally recommend that you read these from the beginning of the series and in order. The Relic Hunters are composed of the same people mostly and their stories flow throughout the series.

I normally don’t’ enjoy much of the young adult books lately but I never have a problem soaking up these novels. They are full of energizing action scenes, well thought out historical ties and facts, and a bit of mystery and danger lurking in every book in this series. This one however was jammed packed and I would have to say my favorite of them so far. I won’t spoil the fun of this one with details that you can’t already get in the synopsis so you will have to devour this and find out what happens for yourself! It is one you don’t want to miss and will not be disappointed with. I am anxious to see where this story will go in future novels.

High Heels And MistletoeHigh Heels And Mistletoe by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was probably a little too excited when I saw CA King was releasing a holiday themed romance novel, but this book did not disappoint! I love CA King’s paranormal and sci-fi works so this was a gamble not really having any of those components included in it but this book rocked was the perfect way to kick off my holiday season. I grabbed some chai tea and curled up with my fav Christmas albums and dove right in. High Heels and Mistletoe brings us the story of Julietta and her slight cursed self with mistletoe. Of course in the holiday season mistletoe is everywhere and thus we have some some funny and interesting complications arise. The underlying romance story was fun and believable to follow. I found myself rooting for the happy ever after moment pretty early on in the story. I found myself cracking up at the witty humor as I followed the sweet romance that made me want to fall in love all over again this holiday season. I can’t wait to see what we may get next from the ever talented CA King.

This book is action packed and keeps you engrossed so much that you feel as if you are right there with the characters in the midst of this war. I loved the world building and how I was sucked in so much that I read well into the night late to find out what would happen with Rowena this time. I won’t give too much more away that the synopsis already does but I can assure you this is one you do not want to miss. I am anxious to get my hands on the next book!

The Devil’s Day (The Lucky Devil Series Book 3) by Megan Mackie – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Devil's Day (The Lucky Devil Book 3)The Devil’s Day by Megan Mackie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Megan Mackie has outdone herself with this latest installment in The Lucky Devil Series! I have to say this has to be my fav yet, and I do have to say you should read the first two books in the series before diving into this one for the max effect of everything. Once again I just could not put this book down and read it well past my bedtime to see how things would turn out for these fab characters I have so grown to love.

In The Devil’s Day we find Rune and St. Benedict finding love within each other. Rune must find a way to stake claim to the House of Magdaline for good but the Devil has his own plans as usual. Grumbler's Ride (Satan's Devils MC San Diego #2)Grumbler’s Ride by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego chapter from Manda Mellett, and it quickly turned into one of my favorites of all time of hers. Grumbler’s Ride will knock your emotions out of the ballpark and tear you to pieces before it slowly and tenderly puts you back together. Manda Mellett has this special talent of making her books carry a message and bring to light difficult topics that need to be in the spotlight more. I won’t give away much on the twist to this because I don’t want to ruin it for you. I will say Mellett did a wonderful job yet again, writing about a horrible situation and making it very very relatable. I can’t say enough good things about this book so I will keep it short and sweet. This is a must read if you love MC novels and books with heart and soul woven in every word that graces the pages. I cannot wait to see what the next book will bring us! I think I will go back and re-read this sucker while I wait again, it was that good, I need more! Thank you for the fabulous read here Ms. Mellett!

No Rest for the Wicked (Life Is Hell Book 1) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Liz Vrchota

No Rest for the Wicked (Life is Hell #1)No Rest for the Wicked by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ohhhhh this was a treat I didn’t know I needed! I have a penchant for dark romance, like I seek these books out like my life depends on it. This book is the perfect read for me in this sense and I devoured it quickly in one sitting because I just could not put this gem down. If you haven’t had a chance to read Naomi Valkyrie then this is the place to start for you, you will be hooked.

This book takes the demon and makes you absolutely fall in love with her. Delilah is a demon of course but she too needs a break. As she puts it even a demon needs some downtime! She is exactly like me and throws some of her belongings in a bag and hits the road, finding herself in a small sleepy little town that looks like a perfect place to relax and find some much needed peace. Of course things are not always what they seem and Delilah is thrust into a new mystery that will turn her world upside down! This is one you don’t want to miss if you love the dark romance, witty characters, and laughs to break up the suspense occasionally. I am so freaking excited to get my hands on the next installment in this series and see what will happen next! I need it like, yesterday lol.

The Sanctuary Chronicles Box Set – Book 1-3 + Novella by India Kells – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Sanctuary Chronicles Box Set - Book 1-3 + NovellaThe Sanctuary Chronicles Box Set – Book 1-3 + Novella by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Sanctuary Chronicles has to be my most favorite series from India Kells ever so when I saw it was being offered in this gorgeous boxed set I had to have it. These books are all worthy of five stars and it is a collection of ones I intend to read and reread for many many years to come. I also love that this is available in time for the holidays because some of my reader fan fam will be getting a set of these! I did include two of my reviews for my top two fav in the series below. These are books you do not want to miss out on!

BLIND MAGIC – Book #2:
Blind Magic is the second book in The Sanctuary Chronicles from India Kells. I have not had the pleasure of reading the first book, Broken Magic, although now I will be running to do so. It didn’t really affect my ability to enjoy this one though. Kells was a doll and gave us a pretty detailed prologue to catch us up for this one thankfully. This was just that amazing that I have to get my hands on the first as well. I normally don’t pick up books that fall into this ‘category’ but let’s be honest, look at that cover! Yummy, and eye catching. I had to know what was behind it. I am so glad I dived in blind.

In Blind Magic we get quite the story. I must say there was not a single moment that I was bored, and actually several hours that I was the do not approach the reading mom/wife or you may die type. Can you really describe a dark and twisty suspenseful book as beautiful and magical? I think this book qualifies for that, and really can’t come up with a better way to sum it up.

Sera Dover is one heck of a woman. Strong, independent and resourceful, oh and she is one heck of a witch. She will stop at nothing to protect those that she loves and cares about. She will face whatever danger comes her way too. Then there is Ian Macon, the damaged and gorgeous werewolf. He is instantly drawn to Sera. Her light and peace is something his shattered soul seeks out. These two have a connection that will set your kindle screens on fire, and give you a need for a tall glass of water, maybe even a fan or two, if you get my drift.

Of course, there is always danger lurking around the corner in all the great suspenseful novels. What is to come for them now and in the future? For that you must dive into this amazing five-star read for yourself, for I cannot bear to give away any more than I already have! Happy reading!

DEAD MAGIC- Book #3:
I was so stoked to get my hands on this book, Dead Magic, the third in The Sanctuary Chronicles from India Kells. This has to be one of my favorite series of hers and they are jammed full with action, adventure, magic, mystery, lore, and steamy fun to balance it all out. I could not wait to get the story of Violet and Finn with this one and they did not disappoint. Another side note about this series is the covers, like they literally grab you without even saying a word. I wouldn’t even need a title on these to know they have to be full of some amazing story lines. This one may be my fav because of the purple undertones but it is drool worthy and definitely worth mentioning. I would highly recommend also that you read the first two books before this one. While it can be read as a stand alone novel I feel that these are better read in order so you get that slow and inevitable build up of excitement with each new one you read. This one has my favorite pairing, a sexy vampire, and a fierce witch. These two don’t want what fate is throwing their way. Will they be able to find the common ground and manage a relationship? That is about all I felt safe sharing the rest is only good when read by your own eyes. I can’t wait to see what will come next!

Bonds That Beckon (Daughters of Anubis Book 1) by Kelli Kimble – Review by Liz Vrchota

Bonds that Beckon (Daughters of Anubis, #1)Bonds that Beckon by Kelli Kimble
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an interesting read for me. I wanted to read it the moment I finished the blurb and saw the cover. It may be geared or marketed towards young adults but this is a genre I normally devour fastly no matter what. This book was hard for me to get into. I did enjoy the idea behind it with it being about a young girl who just wants so badly to fit in with those in her small and narrow minded town, but unfortunately she is different and has abilities that will make that even harder to achieve this. I think this book could have had a bit more. A bit more character history and a bit more drama, maybe a bit more intensity and I would have been sucked away for a few hours. Instead I felt like this was more a second draft. I will definitely give the next book a shot and see if we have increased all these areas I wanted in. If it sucks me in I may revisit this one too. Overall this was a nice and easy read just not as exciting as I was hoping so I am gonna give it a solid 4 star review for now.

This fifth book in the Logan McKenna Mystery series from Valerie Davisson, is one you don’t want to miss. I mention it is the fifth because I think it would be easier to enjoy this series if you read it from the beginning and in order a little bit. I was so excited to see that we were getting another novel from Logan that I scooped this one up without even reading the synopsis. As I expected Logan finds herself in the middle of chaos and danger as she is thrust into the middle of two murders. This is another fast paced and well described novel that makes you feel as if you are there in the thick of the mystery and suspense as you read about Logan and her adventures to find Safe Harbor. I can’t wait to see what we will get next from Davisson!

WAR OF THE DAMNED (Relic Hunters Book 3) by Martin Ferguson – Review by Liz Vrchota

War of the Damned (Relic Hunters, #3)War of the Damned by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the third in the Relic Hunters series from Martin Ferguson, and it will keep you on the edge of your seat just as much as the ones prior. I really enjoy these novels even though they are geared towards young adults, but honestly it’s just a bonus because the content is something I can share with my teenage daughter and I don’t have to worry about it. I love the way Ferguson can pull you in with his historical fiction. It is a perfect combination of fact and fiction that you are never bored and it is a breeze to read. This time the Relic Hunters find themselves on a mission after a German U boat is discovered in Scotland, weird right? They soon find out they are not the only ones on the case and danger factors rise. I was completely sucked in to this book and I just couldn’t put it down. I ended up reading it well into the night because I had to know what was going to happen to the team. I was not disappointed one bit in the sleep I missed out on. I look forward to seeing what the team will encounter next!

The Mummy of Monte Cristo by J Trevor Robinson – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Mummy of Monte CristoThe Mummy of Monte Cristo by J. Trevor Robinson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wasn’t exactly sure what I had gotten myself into when I picked up The Mummy of Monte Cristo by J Trevor Robinson. I have never read his work prior to this and the premise was definitely strong and pulled me right in. I personally adore ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’, so I was highly intrigued to see what he would do with this classic fav of mine. I must say I had high expectations going into it that it would be something I would ultimately enjoy. This book plays out fairly slow. I will start with that because it stuck in the back of my mind as I read most of the book. I was constantly waiting for that extra bit of magic I wanted for lack of better description. It just felt like it took forever to get to the good stuff lol. This however didn’t ruin my overall enjoyment of the book and its premise. I won’t divulge much more than you get in the synopsis because that would ruin the twist he has given Monte Cristo. I can tell you there is something for everyone in this between the nod to classical literature, mummies, magic, monsters and zombies, and even some adventurous points. I think all the aspects are what kept me enthralled as I felt it drug on. I am eager to see what else we have or will get from Robinson!

A Merry Texan Christmas (The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 3) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Liz Vrchota

A Merry Texan Christmas (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge, #3)A Merry Texan Christmas by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have really enjoyed visiting Sweet Ridge with each book in The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge series from Nicole Flockton. A Merry Texan Christmas is the third book in the series and gives us a front row seat to Trey Prentice and Maggie Watson’s story. These two are fabulous together and make for many laughs and emotions while reading. I found myself pulling for them and begging them to work out throughout the book. This is one that will have you aching to put the tree up just a bit early! I love a solid holiday read to kick me off in the holiday spirit and this book was just that. I can’t wait to see what we will get next in the series!

Soul’s Day Boxset: Horror and Paranormal Halloween Anthology – Review by Liz Vrchota

Soul's DaySoul’s Day by Erin Lee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just love a box set of themed books! Throw in the fact that it is my favorite theme, Spooky Season, and I am in legit heaven. I scooped this gem up as soon as it released and it kept me in the spirit of the spooky season all season long! I loved that some of these were new to me authors so now I have a list of new TBR’s to read soon as well as it featuring some of my favorite authors. (cause we all need a longer TBR right? LOL!) One of the stories that stuck out to me the most was Karma’s Karnival by Aubrey Wynne. This book was a thrill ride to read and I am anxious to see what its future will be with this new series from her. It has so many layers to it but honestly the scare was easy to enjoy. Who doesn’t love a good karnival? Throw in Purgatory and you have quite the adventure! I will share the names of the authors included below of the other reads, all are worthy of at least 4 stars if not more! This set is one you do not want to miss!

The Opposite of Addie: A Novel (Friendship & Secrets) by Julie C. Gardner – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Opposite of AddieThe Opposite of Addie by Julie C. Gardner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was excited to see Julie C Gardner was releasing another Friendship & Secrets novel. I fell in love with her writing in Forgetting Ophelia and this was another promising read. I adored this novel, could not ever put it down until I had devoured the entire thing. I would personally recommend that you read Forgetting Ophelia before The Opposite of Addie. The stories do seem to play into each other and build. It is imperative though and you could probably read it as a stand alone if that is more your thing.

The Opposite of Addie is a novel you will want to have the box of tissues handy while reading. This book wrecked me at times and was such a thought provoking read. I adored the way I felt these characters were not only believable but realistic feelings. I wanted to find them all and give them hugs. I won’t give much more info other than what is already shared in the blurb because I can’t ruin this gem of a read, but I can tell you this is one you do not want to miss if you are a fan of contemporary romance!
