The Mystery of the Lost AvengerThe Mystery of the Lost Avenger by Linda Maria Frank
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a fun, easy to read, historical mystery. This novel is a great exploration into how generations who have gone by can influence future generations and how family ties run deep. When an old World War 2 plane is found in the Appalachians with a note from Annie’s grandmother inside this leads to questions over her great grandmothers role in the war. Featuring ghosts, codes and potential spies this easy to follow, fun story is a great ghost story to get lost in.

Slash & Burn (Nite Fire Book 4) by C. L. Schneider – Review by Lizzie Chapman Gough

Slash & Burn (Nite Fire, #4)Slash & Burn by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shape, shifting dragons, linked worlds and an imminent apocalyptic virus form the basis of this epic tale. This is the fourth in the saga although its easy to follow if you have not read the others. Dahlila, the protagonist, is easy likable with her spunky, brave, determined attitude. She cares about others and has a strong sense of right and wrong despite being brought up being taught the opposite and this really comes across with the author’s writing. I really enjoyed the character development playing out across the novel. The scene setting is brilliant I could really imagine myself in the Nite Fire universe. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Lovers of rom coms and love stories will love this. Marlowe is once bitten, twice shy writer who lets her romantic side out through the romance novels she writes. When she wins a date with the Goldmine body himself. Heath Rochester, however, fate has other ideas. We follow Marlowe as she tries to guard her heart whilst trying to be there for her sister and her friend with their life struggles. But will destiny have other ideas?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, it was like curling up with a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day, heart warming and soothing. This was cleverly written, light-hearted and cozy. I identified parts of myself in Marlowe so I was curious and intrigued as to how her and Heath’s story was going to work out. As this is the first one in a series I’m excited to see what comes next in Marlowe’s story.

The Sun at Twilight (Empire at Twilight Book 4) by N.L. Holmes – Review by Lizzie Chapman Gough

The Sun at Twilight (Empire at Twilight #4)The Sun at Twilight by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first in this series that I have read and I’m now left wanting to read the others. An enjoyable, captivating read I was gripped from chapter to chapter wanting to know what was coming next in the story of the Hatti Land’s Great King. The plot was well thought out, evenly paced and easy to follow whilst still keeping my interest. An action packed yet emotional read I found myself getting caught up in the story and was a tad sad when I realized I had come to the end of the story.
This book is perfect for lover’s of historical fiction who enjoy battle scenes and romance.
