Shattered: Logan Book 1 (The Logan McKenna Series)Shattered: Logan Book 1 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shattered is the first book in Valerie Davisson’s The Logan McKenna Series, and it was an amazing mystery, thriller! I was highly impressed with the way that the characters were developed with so much intrigue, they were well-developed and well-rounded in that they are very realistic. I love the setting, the eerie darkness that follows Logan is just chilling. I love that there is a killer on the loose and that we get to help solve the mystery while living the story through Logan’s experiences. The fact that she works so hard to clear Thomas, who won’t even fight for himself, and then having the community come together to help solve this crime is so heartwarming. What a wonderful read, I couldn’t put it down from the second I opened the book. I am a huge fan of mystery books and thrillers, so combining both into a series was awesome!!! This is a must-read for all you book lovers looking for your next adventure of thrills and chills.

Devil’s Claw is the third book in The Logan Series by Valerie Davisson and is one of my favorites so far in this series! This book is so full of thrills, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this book! It was so exciting I read the whole book in one sitting; I just couldn’t put it down! I had to know what happened to Logan’s daughter Amy, and the adorable sea otter cub. If you love a good mystery series that is full of thrills and chills, then this series should be on your next-to-read list. The action that goes on is so mind-numbing, it’s like you are right there experiencing everything through Logan’s eyes, her fears are real! I am so excited to start on the next book in this series because if it’s anything like the first three books in this series, it is going to continue to offer a thrill ride I can’t wait to get started on.

This series never disappoints! I’ve enjoyed the first two and this one is no different. Logan (our mc) is always running into to trouble and this book includes a mystery, twists and turns, and a mysterious newcomer that shows up out of no where and throws a wrench in a well thought out plan BUT the most important part of this story was… Sea Otters! Absolutely adorable and we get to learn quite a bit about them in this book!

As with this other books in this series, this book can be read as a standalone but IMO this series should be read in order to get the most out of the series! I would recommend this to anyone that love a good mystery!
Happy Reading!

All Logan wanted to do was enjoy some quality time working on her art and music. After losing her years prior husband this was just the break she needed for her and her daughter. Yet neither could imagine their lives changing so drastically when they saved a sea otter pup. Gina, the owner of the local sea otter rehabilitation center sits on the land that Gina’s father left her but even that is in jeopardy now. Everything is on the line along with Amy’s life. This is the first book I have read from this series but it won’t be the last that’s for sure! The author did an amazing job giving enough details about the back story that I knew enough to grasp the storyline and the history of the characters.

In this installment of the Logan McKenna Series, we learn a lot about Otters and conservation of their habitat and those people who don’t care about the otters and using force to hurt people. This is another great book from the author. I really like the main character and the storyline that goes along with her.

This was an incredible read! I also appreciate the research that this author put in about otters because they are seriously one of my favorite animals. It made for a perfect combination of learning and thrilling mystery. The way the background is painted for us throughout the book brings such vivid scenery to the forefront of my mind. I will say this definitely had me thrown for a loop with all the twists and turns. I loved the flow of the story, which is absolutely important, so you aren’t jolted out of the world you’ve immersed yourself in. Devils Claw: A Logan McKenna Mystery by Valerie Davisson is book three in the Logan McKenna series. It does seem as though you could read each book as a standalone, but being a series, I’d just read them in order. This story was a little closer to home for Logan than the previous two books. This one involves a murder at her job and then includes her daughter, Amy, missing. Logan and her daughter are back in California. There was a lot of interesting descriptions in this book, especially about Sea Otters. Again, Valerie is an amazing with making you feel right in the story and assisting with the descriptive movie in your head. But there were also a lot of people that were telling the story to keep track of. Overall, another decent read. I’d be interested in what other crazy scenarios Logan gets herself into.

Forest Park: A Logan McKenna Mystery by Valerie Davisson is book two in the Logan McKenna series. Logan is back at it again trying to figure out what has happened. While on vacation to Portland, an explosion at a food truck causes murders where she realizes she knows the deceased. Valerie definitely can explain her way around some food, I had to stop and eat! That said, the author is definitely incredibly descriptive with everything in the book, talk about movie in your head! There are a lot of different views and it jumps around a lot and I admit it took me a little bit to follow and catch who I was reading but I did eventually catch up. The story overall was good, Logan’s character definitely has a lot of depth and I like how it makes her feel real and likely relatable. Here’s to book three and hoping it’s just as good if not better!

Shattered: A Logan McKenna Mystery by Valerie Davisson is book one in the Logan McKenna series. This is my first introduction to this author and although the book wasn’t my favorite, I will be checking out the rest in the series. It was nice to find a murder mystery that was interesting and not the same as the rest. Logan has been through a lot and is now trying to find herself in the second half of her life. After all, she’s only in her 40s, she’s got more to do in this life. The book itself was good, started dry for me but I came back around. I can appreciate the different arts in the book and found everything quite interesting. Everything was explained in such detail that I felt that I was about to get a good grasp on why Logan enjoyed it. It is at a Festival where there is a murder and one of her friends is a suspect. I am looking forward to book two.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Devil’s Claw is the third book in the Logan McKenna Mystery series. It is a crime thriller chock full of action, suspense, mystery, murder, intrigue, and drama. Logan McKenna’s life is going well, and she has settled into a comfortable life in her Southern California home near the beach. She has a new job and finally has plenty of time for her music. When her and her daughter rescue a baby Otter, they take it to the Southern Sea Otter Center where they nurse it back to health. Things take a sinister turn when the land the center sits on becomes the target of numerous individuals who all try lay claim to it. When someone Logan knows is murdered Logan takes it upon herself to investigate the mystery surrounding the property. She quickly finds herself swept up in a world of greed, resentment, loss, betrayals, secrets, and violence. Logan could be the next person on the killer’s hit list if she does not solve this mystery quickly enough. I loved the characters of Logan and Amy. Both are kind, smart, compassionate, and determined. The close relationship they had as mother and daughter was endearing and heartwarming. This story took some twists and turns as Logan worked to solve her latest mystery before more lives were lost. The more I read, the more intriguing the mystery became, and I was hooked until the very end. I highly recommend this series!

Life for Logan McKenna is looking better, and things seem to be on track. After the rough road she experienced and all of the loss she is happy, healthy, and in a good relationship. Life seems to be coasting along until everything changes in the blink of an eye and throws her world into chaos once again. As Logan awaits the arrival of her boyfriend at their hotel room, she hears a loud boom coming from outside. When she ventures out to discover the source of the sound, she discovers an explosion occurred at the Vietnamese food truck she had been at a short time before. Logan is horrified to discover that the woman killed in the explosion was someone that she had formed a bond with. The police have suspects, two of which are her friends, but Logan feels that they are not the real killer and is determined to find the real culprits. She feels obligated to try to solve what happened and starts digging for clues only to discover there are long-buried secrets that are better left alone. Logan is a character that I really like, and I enjoy reading her adventures, She is smart, tenacious, determined, strong, courageous and does not back down when things become difficult. This adventure led to highs and lows, chaos, confusion, sadness, betrayal, hurt, loss, and hope. I look forward to reading book three.

Shattered is Book One in the Logan McKenna Mystery series. It is a crime thriller full of suspense, action, drama, mystery, suspense, and murder. Her father passed away and with so much going on her music fell by the wayside. As Logan digs deeper the murderer becomes more vicious and danger lurks around every corner. Will she have what it takes to solve the case before it is too late? Logan is a character that is easy to relate to and feel a connection to. She is smart, feisty, plucky, courageous, and never gives up. I look forward to reading more of Logan McKenna’s adventures!

Not all is as it seems and Logan has to get to the bottom of it. The author does a fantastic of setting up the story with suspense. She lays out the detail. There are twists and a few turns. She has rapidly become one of my favorite authors. This is another winner in my book.

My middle child, now in her twenties, used to be obsessed with sea otters when she was little. We had to have a sea otter birthday cake, and we had to watch sea otters on the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Otter Cam several times a week! This book brings back good memories for me. The mystery is wonderfully crafted, and the family dynamics explored amongst the characters are simply amazing. I can’t wait to read more of this series!

Devil’s Claw is the third book in the Logan McKenna Series is a wonderfully written Crime/ Thriller that will have you turning the pages till the end. I’m a huge fan of this author and her style of writing along with her creative characters make for an epic story. I didn’t realize I was starting with the third book so I plan on going back and reading the first two books in this series to get me caught up with what’s been going on. There’s plenty of twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. Logan is back and ready to tackle the newest murder but this one is different as its someone who’s close to her. Everyone wants the property lot 429 but at what lengths are they willing to go to get it? I’m afraid I’m going to give away to much information. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

During the first vacation she’s taken in years, Logan looks forward to sharing the beauty of the Oregon coast with Ben and her family. They quickly immerse themselves in summer fun. Ocean walks, caramel corn by the fire, a visit to the aquarium, a charter boat fishing trip, and to top it off, tickets for Logan and Ben to an amazing, in-home classical music concert featuring visiting musicians from China.

But within days, Logan finds herself inexorably dragged into a homicide investigation—as a possible suspect. While reeling from that discovery, Logan is forced to face a ghost from her past and make a thorny, personal decision that will change everyone’s lives, including her brother, Rick’s.

Weaving themes of loss, healing, forgiveness, family, love, and community, Davisson’s characters all seek a safe harbor, but not all of them find one.

Devil’s Claw (Logan McKenna Series Book 3) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is Book 3 in the Logan McKenna Series. There are nine books totally, I plan on reading every single one of them at some point. In this one, we learn about sea otters and greed from a new person. Unfortunately for someone, they lose their life because of this greed. I am still currently reading it so I can’t give to much away. It does involve money and land, specifically the Sea Otter Rescue Land. I haven’t read many of Ms. Davisson’s books but this one seems to grab my attention especially because of the sea otters. I mean I never knew that sea otters made noise, I mean how would you know that unless you have seen/heard them up-close and personal.

Logan has her hands full in this one. Left a piece of property that is hot to hold by a lot of people, someone has already been murdered for it. She has to figure out who did it and who wants the property that bad. Again, I love all the detail in these mysteries. She’s trying to save sea life when this happens. There’s drama, action, suspense and a bit of romance. The writing really grabs you with this one. Those prologues just get ya and you can’t put it down. Her characters are very relatable. They really could be friends. This is a terrific mystery because you have to work to figure out who did it. She doesn’t give it to you easy.

I’m excited that Logan and Ben are giving it a go. Logan is in Portland when an explosion happens outside her hotel, and she knows the owner and the elderly lady who died. As usual, when the police go the wrong way, Logan goes the “right way” to help clear her friend’s name. I really liked this story. It gave a lot of detail. The flow is good. My favorite part is that the author includes a lot of secrets within the story that are unfolded during the mystery. There are always secrets to be found. Logan had adventures all around during this story, hers and while trying to figure out what happened to the food truck. Fantastic adventures, a lot of mystery and suspense, romance sure make for a great book.

VANISHING DAY (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 4) by Valerie Davisson . I have absolutely loved this series and this book was no different. Its the continuing saga of Logan McKenna whose new young neighbor is brutally attacked and left for dead. The only witness to the attack is the victim’s 3 year old daughter. When the police hit a dead end in the case Logan decides she has to find out what happened and why. As Logan starts digging she realizes her neighbor isn’t who she says she is and the danger is getting really deep. Finding out Lori, the victim, is in an abusive relationship or trying to flee from the relationship makes the case even more dangerous but that has never stopped Logan before. Will Logan and Brian find out who is trying to kill Lori and why before its too late for Lori and Logan? Each of these books can be read as standalone but they are all so good I highly recommend reading them all. The relationships and messes Logan gets herself into are so good. Just be prepared that once you start this book you won’t want to put it down!

This whole series has been a strong series and this book is probably the best yet. An amazing story and one up would certainly recommend.
