Hard Lover (Houston After Dark Book 2) by Deborah Garland – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Hard Lover (Houston After Dark #2)Hard Lover by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book literally roped me in right from the start I do always very much enjoy the writings and books by this wonderful author, but this one was a special read. I got a lot more than I expected, and I do not mean just romance, I mean story, plot, characters and all that jazz! This book was more than just a good time!

What I loved about this book, was that it really held its realistic notes right to the very end. I felt the characters were very connectable, and able to visualize without faults. I loved the whole forbidden romance, being Noah is Callie’s BFF and that means off limits. I didn’t expect the romance and building between these two to be as hot as it was! I loved their moments and the fire they had between them together. And Noah was great, everything you dream of having n a guy, plus great at those steamy moments sure were a bonus! I loved the dept of the characters, and how they grew within themselves as well around each other! Loved this book!

Once again this author has truly nailed it! I could not put this book down, and certainly did not want it to conclude! High recommendation from me for sure, do not pass up this must read book and author!

I was struck hard with love with the prior book, and this one continued the fantasy story that I had very much fallen in love with. I loved this one I think actually, a bit more! The writing was perfectly done.

I loved this one as it still had those adventurous fantasy elements that intrigued me in the first novel, but this one went down a road that gave more and made your mind visualize more Also, loved seeing the characters from the first book again. I saw a lot of character growth in this one. I loved the more deeper we dove in this one, the more that came to light, the end is not near yet for our heros! Cant wait to see what happens next in this most amazing series! I love hoe the flow goes, the characters, and I love this book!

The series is amazing, and I very much enjoyed how the author did this installment! The author, book, sand series are must reads for sure! High recommendation for all of them from this love struck reader!

Both had their obstacles within themselves, but the biggest obstacle of all was what was blooming between them. I enjoyed their story and how things played out. The steam moments were really realistic as well! I could not put this book down, or turn away! Loved it!

The book was compelling and full of intrigue! I simply loved the writing and how the story was! Defiantly kept me interested all the way through! Highly recommend this must read book and author!

Ashes (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Series Book 1)Ashes by MK Harkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It was impossible not to love this book and be swept away into all this wonderful book had to offer, I always love a good book that does a good job of a fairy tale retelling, but this one blew my mind with how well done the writing was as well as the concept of the story! It was a magical read from start to finish!

Personally the aspect of this being a Cinderella re telling was magical as it could get! I love the modern take on this story, but I loved really how the author brought it to life. The characters were all sensational on their own path in who they were and whom they represented. The story had strong character development as well, and the characters were very connectable and each held their own. I was quite intrigued with things I did not expect as I read, the different things I really added to the story I felt. The writing was amazing, and the whole story was amazing, this was a wonderful and magical read! I simply loved it truly!

Such a good and wonderful read. I truly enjoyed the read and all the moments and feelings that went along with it, I highly recommend this must read book! Not one to be missed for any reason!

What a wonderful collection of readings! I loved the poems this book held and possessed, it was work and words that really connected to me, and made me feel and think things.

The poems this collection had were not just empty words being thrown randomly onto a page and hoping it sounds good. It was full of a heart’s creation, and a feeling and devotion towards life itself. I am someone who has gone through my own mental health stuff here and there, and these poems were enlightening and beautiful, and the words I read, feelings I felt, really were uplifting and heartfelt. I know for a fact I will be re-reading this collection time and time again. I find the words can really help someone who’s struggling, or just wants to feel that connection, so yes, I truly loved the work and wonders this wonderful author has created!

I love poems, but these hit me deep. I look forward to future work by this gifted author, this collection and book is not one to be passed up, a must read for everyone no matter where your path of life is. Highly recommend this must read book and this wonderful author!

So I had high hopes when I picked this one up, and needless to say, I was not disappointed! The amazing author created a sensational story once again, and I could not put this one down either.

I loved that this book continued the characters and what happened in the first, and continued. I enjoyed that we got to read about Lance and his story this time around. I really felt for him. And everything he was going through, as well as endured. The book really makes you feel a lot of emotions. Even when they’re painful, you don’t want to turn away, you want more, you want to feel. That’s the power this book and author can have over you. It’s rare and with its power, it’s enlightening as well. The story and writing is captivating. Love's MulliganLove’s Mulligan by C.A. Miconi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story had captivated me right from the start. I could not put this one down, or even turn away, even if it seemed like a short time. The story had an entrancing story, as well as characters that kept you interested and gave myself as a reader, a longing for more.

The story had that small town type of feel but with dreams and love attached to it. If you had everything except from the one your heart holds most dear, do you really have everything?
This book really gave me the feels, it gave the hurt of the past, as well as the present, and as well what the future could be if the decision to leave love behind again was to happen. What I enjoyed was seeing the hope in these characters. Even what held them back seemed to be the strongest force, hope reigned above all. The story was beautifully written, and the author really knew how to pull the reader in, a sensational author! Loved it!

Again, this story really captivated me all the way through, and I could not put this beauty down. I loved and enjoyed it with all my heart and soul! Highly recommend this must read!

Loved this story and the characters that it contained. I saw a lot of character development as well. Especially with Lisette. I found she really grew through the story, She was a very admirable character as well. Whom she started as, and what by the end of the book, she finished as, was rather remarkable. I loved the plot, and all it contained. The story was a quick read for me, as I could not put it down, it held me and I kept needing more answers to my questions and to keep on reading! Ouroboros (Antipodes Book 3) by T.S. Simons – Review by Lorrene Huisman

OuroborosOuroboros by T.S. Simons
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The series has seriously attracted my attention since book 1, the way the author creates this world and the characters that live in it, it’s so real, and it’s a powerful series with a serious impact! This series makes you think, wonder, things we do in this world that we make decisions to form, lead to the next thing…sometimes we want to change those decisions, but what if you can’t? And the reality you live in, is your future?

Each book in the series, has a build up. The author seems to know what we can handle as readers, as I know I constantly am in the want of more! Whenever I want more answers, the answers I seek, are met with more questions. I feel as if I am with the characters as they take this journey in the life and future of the world that they live in,. In this book especially, there is so much character development and changes, if you reflect from the first book, you really cant see it and feel it! This is the impact the author is able to do and is so very clever at doing! Each book I go down that rabbit hole, begging for more, each book entices me, provides fear in a way only such a gifted author can prevail…and most of all the author has created a series that is so powerful that when you close the book upon end, or even a few chapters, the book has captivated your mind ans has left you thinking about the possibility of this series becoming our future one day! The author is simply amazing at captivating my interest, and I am so happy I am getting to read this series! Love it!!!

This book alone is a must read.To really feel the impact that this book possesses, you need to read from the first, you really do. I needlessly need to say, this is a high recommendation from myself who is really entranced by this series and author! Must read for sure! I loved this author and the world of characters they create, defiantly a talented author that is a rate gem!

I can never get enough of this series truly! Every time there is a installment in this series, I can not wait to get my hands on it to read it. Each book has characters that are full of life, and have so much depth to them! I can never not love the books I devour by this wonderful author! Especially loved this one!

Alessia and Kristopher are two souls that really had he hooked, there was simply no doubt on that front. I loved their chemistry, but what I loved most was who and what defined them as themselves. Their past made them who they are in the present, but was it what would set them on course for their future lives? The writing was sensational, the author really knows how to draw you in and make you feel things in your mind, heart, and body as you read. I could not get enough of this book specifically! Loved it!

I always know each book by this author will be freaking wonderful, but this one really blew my mind in what I thought I would be devouring! Highly recommend this book, series, and author! Must read!

I have loved this author and their works for quite some time now. I always love the books and characters that they create. I was truly sucked into this book. It is a start of a new series, which I know for a fact I will be anxiously awaiting each installment for! This book as a 1st book has already offered a lot on the table!

Addison and Wesley were two characters that had a past, but in the present when they share moments you can feel the electric shocks and attraction that they feel together. That is truly undeniable. I enjoyed the character depth on them both, and I longed so very much to know more, and see where things would go! I loved when remembering their past, it had those memories most of us long to forget, we cant escape them in realistic, but we can grow and survive from them. There was a lot of sexual steamy moments as I read, and I could not get enough! I am already in love with this series /and characters. I can not wait to see where this goes and more character depth! I know I am in for a ride! Loved this book!

The characters were very easy to connect and level with Each had a depth of light and darkness to them, I could not put this down!

Ruben and Alice were such great characters! I loved their character depth. I loved their moments together. Both different but so very well connected in more than one way. I enjoyed learning who they were, especially what their pasts held for them! There was trauma endured, and that made these characters so much more realistic. I loved how the author did the writing with BDSM. She nailed it! I could not have expected better, the author for sure knew what was linked to BDSM and played it perfectly into the story and characters. I have been reading this book series since the first one, and this author does such an amazing job in all the books and the characters that they bring to life. This book installment has quickly become my favorite, as always I am very captivated, and wanting more, this book and series is impossible not to love!

First off I must say-this was a bitter sweet read, knowing this is my final read in the series as it has concluded. I could not have asked for a better send off! This book gave all the things I love, mystery, suspense, romance, those momenta that make you sweat from heat with words on the pages, I really found Nico and Mia were wonderful characters. Different but easy to love as a reader. They brought a lot to the story, and I loved the build up in this book! For starters, freaking loved Dominik’s character. He came off tough, but had a heart of gold. He was set in hos ways at times, but sometimes a heart can melt at the right moment. Loved the chemistry and the moments between these two. I found they met their match with one another, and showed what realism is between two people. Loved how things progressed, and the build up! The story itself had build up as well. Things came to light in the story and between these two. Lots of twists and moments that really impacted the story. This book brought what is known as suspense, to a whole new level! I can not believe how this book went about, it was just so good! Action was at every page turn, and full of thrills an suspense!

Ok, as I said the suspense was real and a real page turner. What really hooked me was what the story gave me, and how there was more than meets the eye. When I thought I had things figured out with what went on with Angie, I was wrong, so wrong. I loved this book kept me guessing. And when you were given a little bit of what could lead to the truth, you were given a turn and twist that led elsewhere. The writing was sensational! I was very impressed from start to finish! Holy Moly! This Book was epic! I could not let this one be put down, for the plot as well as the characters that the book contained! The writing was genius and full of cleverness! The book was indeed a thrill ride, and left me wanting more as I turned the pages. Excellent plot and development! Sensational!

I love a good crime book, but this one really blew me away. The romance added nicely to the story as well, and I felt this book did a good job of the in depth look of what goes on on the side of the police when dealing with serial killers or any of the sort. Loved Max and Bobbi. Both different, but each had a different affect on me with their personalities. In all honesty, loved them both for which they were! The character development was strong, and the serial for what he was, was unlike any other person I have read in other books. He was well developed and was a critical character that added to the story and made the plot what it was. The book was full of twists and turns, and this is a book that left me with a spine tinging sensation. Amazing read and gifted author for sure to create this book! Truly loved it!

This book is by far a must read. If you love crime and a well built up character development and shocks and twists as you read, then for sure this book is for you! Highly recommend this book and author!

This book was a fun and exciting ride al the way through. Full of characters you could connect with, as well as love or hate! The story took many twists and turns. I did not expect things to happen at times that they did! The book was a true diamond in the rough, and I loved reading it every minute!

Something I loved about this book besides all the characters that really aided and added to the story on their own (which was perfectly done if I may say) Elizabeth, was a character that was a true gem. She was someone who I would look up to as a mother, you could not only read, but truly feel how much she loved her children and would do anything for them! And she jugged all this despite personal issues she was facing, but again it was her way of coping with the things in her life. She was real, and her realism made her such a commendable characters. Loved the murder and the mystery that surrounded as well. This was a new author for me, and certainly not my last! I could not put this down, loved it!

The book was a true master piece from start to finish. One that I do very much highly recommend to everyone! I will defiantly say its a must read! Not one to be passed up! Truly a golden read!

Murder Most Pemberley (Eliza Darcy Mysteries Book 1)Murder Most Pemberley by Jessica Berg
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved reading this book. It was a perfect blend of romance an mystery. I loved the Austen play on the story as well with a good mystery that was afoot. It a pleasurable read that really gave a lot, kept you intrigued, and kept you wanting to go with the characters to learn who the real culprit was!

Eliza was great all around! Loved her wit and her sense of humor that went along with the mystery that was needing to be solved. Things were very well written, visually and the story developed at a very well done pace. I was very intrigued and laughing as I read! The secrets that surfaced and as the questions were raised, I was rooting for Eliza and her potentially perfect match. The writing was perfect. Well done with its own realism. I really had fun with this book. I fell in love with this book so easily! Loved it! I loved how the author crated a true mystery, and felt we were in the times of Austen and the adventures she had written. Eliza was a commendable character. I enjoyed the character development as well!

Wonderful! It was perfect in every which way The story was very bewitching with its own spell as well. I loved it so! I highly recommend this book and author. Must read on both ends for sure! A brilliant read!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was such a addictive read, I could not put this one down, I was pulled into the story at the very beginning and I was held through all the way till the book concluded The book was epic!

Sci-fi? Check. Romance? Check. A love that was meant to be even how much you want to fight it? Check. Everything that perfectly into the story? Very much check! I loved this book. The sci-fi romance was very well done. I loved Mia personally. She was strong and resilient. Tough and never gave up even when she endured the worst possible. How she didn’t trust Castor and his words, was believable as well as understandable. The book was a lot more than just a woman trying to find herself and love It was so much ore than that, there was epic suspense too. The dangers were not far. Just because you find warm arms, does not mean harms way is gone for good. The twists and the turns this book produced was effect and well done. I fell in love with the characters so easily. I could not put this down. I loved it very much.

Such an amazing read that gave a lot to the reader. The author is very talented for sure! I would highly recommend reading this book as well as more by this author! Defiantly a must read book/series!

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1) by S.E. Smith – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1)Something About Aimee by S.E. Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Just wow! This book was such an amazing read, and really was impossible to be put down! This author created characters that were more than connectable, and yet the plot swept you into the world it resided in, and held you there with tense anticipation until you reached the very end of the book!

The book itself had its moments you were on edge due to the suspense, and times were you were held down with the sexual desire the book was able to give. What I loved most aside from the gripping plot, was the character Aimee. Such a great character, she grew as a character, but didn’t change who she was within her heart. I enjoyed Qadir as well. He was quite different than Aimee, but had that longing desire down path for sure. I loved the epicenes of danger and the adventure this book took me on. This book really had the wow factor, I knew it would be a good read, but I was truly blown away with the effect this book gave off! This was a book that was impossible to be put down! Seriously, loved this book!

Amazing read from start to finish! I was hooked and completely invested as I read through this book. The author was just as amazing. They created a story with sensational writing that kept you hooked as well as intrigued! This author and book are a must read for sure! Defiantly a high recommendation from myself!

This story had its own sense of a mystery as well as suspense. I really enjoyed this one. I was guessing all the way through as I read. The writing was gripping and had a strong sense of realism. I was impacted with realism as I read. This was a book that was impossible to be put down for any means.

The book really made me feel a lot of things. The questions I had just seemed to lead to more answers. I was constantly wondering where this book would lead to next. The story was gripping and from reading of the present and the past with the stories, I was very much intrigued and constantly on the edge of my seat, for the truth was at times far from reach, but a lot closer than I had thought! The book was a sensational read, and I could not put it down! Loved it! Truly a masterpiece of expert writing!

So amazing! I really enjoyed this book and all it had brought to the table. I highly recommend this must-read book. It is a book that was dear as well something we all should read! Do not miss out!

This Time Around by Jane Suen – Review by Lorrene Huisman

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have enjoyed this author in the past, and I am certainly enjoying this author now! They created such a good story, with wonderful characters and a story of intrigue and its own level of passion.

This book had everything. I connected with Katie so much. She gave up what she had to chase her own dreams. In the end what she had was lost, and she never really got over it. Chase was such a sweetheart; his emotions were real and vivid a well. I loved how they never stopped caring for one another but weren’t sure how to really go back all and all. I loved the character development especially with Katie. She changed from the last time she saw Chase. The chemistry and love were undeniable. The hurt and feelings that were felt was real. The passion was very much real as well. I fell in love over and over as I read. Such a beautiful and wonderful read. I am so happy I got to enjoy this! Loved it!

This author always knows how to suck in the reader and hold them there and make them feel a lot of things. I highly recommend this author if you have not read their work already, and I most certainly recommend this must-read book. Its one not to be passed up for any reason! Loved it!

Amazing read. I lovey my paranormal books, that is something I can not hide at all but this one really did justice I found. Unpredictable read, astonishing writing, and amazing character development. I could not put this one down. I was hooked, and I needed more by the time I reached the end!

Great character development and use of writing by a talented author. Jace and Cyrus seemed so different, btu the chemistry they both had was undeniable. The mutual attraction was spot on. I loved their moments together. Against all odds they found the ground that they wanted to share. Especially loved the LGBT story line Highly support that of course. There was a lot of action and danger for this forbidden romance. Loved this book, when I finished, I wanted so much more! Loved it!

The book was a trip, that was very much wroth taking. I loved the strong descriptions the author used as well. I loved the author, and I loved this book. I highly recommend! Do not pass up either!
