I am not always big fan of romances but when I do indulge, I love a small town story. This book checked off all the boxes with it’s witty banter and fast paced storyline. I really like the friendly foundation that the two main characters laid down. There was more to this story than cute, romantic tropes including an element of family complexities. In addition to really enjoying both the main female and male characters, I enjoyed the supporting characters as well. No one came off we flat or dull, everyone had fun personalities that felt as though you could know them personally. I would definitely recommend Love Tools and look forward to reading more from Isobel Reed.

A fun romance between a gal from London and a guy in a small Montana town.

Lily has just moved in to the hardware store (with an apartment on the 2nd floor she inherited from her estranged father. The first person she meets is Jake, a friend of Lily’s father.

From the start when Lily and Jake meet and things go a bit askew. But soon enough, each of them realizes that the other is different from past boyfriends or girlfriends. Of course it takes time because there are other things to consider – Sam, Lily’s only friend who happens to be Jake’s sister.

I had fun reading this book. The author did a wonderful job keeping the story going which kept me interested in reading more. The characters were easy to connect with and I could feel the pain and frustration Lily had about her father’s abandonment and also surprise in finding out he left the hardware store to her.

This was such a cute fun read that mentioned topics that other romance books have not mentioned before, giving it a new meaning and something, that people can enjoy. The main character, Lily, has just been told that her father has died, and he left her a tool shop in his will on the other side of the world. Needing to escape the area she is living, due to not liking the area/people she is surrounded by, she packs up her things and moves looking for a fresh start. Here in this small town, she meets friends and develops a love interest named Jake. Both of these characters grow and learn through instances that surround them that they both have in common, a parent leaving and not returning due to different circumstances. While this was a slow burn read w/o explicit scenes, I found myself not able to put this book down as I had to know what was to happen next! I cannot wait to read the second book in the series when it comes out as her sister is the main character and was a straight up SPIT FIRE in this one. I have no doubt that it will be just as good if not better than this one!

This book feels like a Hallmark movie in a good way! Love Tools is a story about Lily, who moves from London to Bluestone when her father dies. She decides to reopen her father’s hardware store and meets Jake along the way. Jake is a player but decides that he wants to settle down with Lily right when she suddenly can’t decide what she wants. These two have very cute interactions. It was a very fun read and I really enjoyed both characters. This is the first book in the Bluestone Series and I very much look forward to reading the next book.

Escaping a dull and boring life to take over her late father’s hardware store Lily departs London for a small town in Montana. It wasn’t meant to last forever, only temporary stay. One where she can focus on getting the store running while swearing off men. Jake, a local stud seen as a womanizer without a commitment bone for a long term relationship in his body, is actually looking for more. This new girl in town has sparked his interest and now he just needs her to see the spark in him too.

The developing relationship that befalls between these two characters will keep you reading. Will they survive the bumps along the way? What ending is in store for Lily whose sworn off relationships and Jake who wants the real deal?

This was my first read by this author, but not the last. A wonderful story packed into a short read. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

When Lily’s dad leaves her his shop, she figures it is a way to escape city life and find answers as to why her dad left and never came back all those years ago. What she doesn’t expect (or want) to find is Jake…and handsome rancher who knew her dad. Lily has always been attracted to guys that break her heart, so she is determined to keep Jake at bay. Jake, however…is not one to follow directions.

When Jake meets Lily, there are sparks right away. He wants to pursue her…but his sister thinks his reputation of never having a long-term relationship means he is incapable of love. Sure…he hasn’t been in love…but it doesn’t mean he can’t. He wants to give Lily the space and time she needs, but he just can’t stay away. However, a miscommunication puts all progress the two have in jeopardy. Will she accept his apology after her proved her insecurities to be true?

There are two storylines going on in this book. There is Lily and Jake’s relationship…and Lily finding out the truth about her father. Both are interesting and I enjoyed reading them. I like Sam and Ali’s characters, and was excited to see the next book is about Alice. Overall, a good story that reminds us that we may be shaped by our pasts…but it doesn’t define us or our futures.

This is a great contemporary romance that I really enjoyed reading. I hadn’t read any of this author’s work before and I was really pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed reading this story.
Lily has moved from the hustle and bustle of London, a city with a population of over 8 million people to live in small town Bluestone County. Jake has lived in Bluestone County all his life and is a true country boy at heart. Lily is sworn off dating the same loser types she’s always dated and Jake is a known womaniser, the opposite of what she wants. It’s definitely not a case of love at first sight. In fact, Lily seriously dislikes Jake at their first meeting.
I really enjoyed reading Jake and Lily’s story. The banter between them makes for some fun reading as they bicker over the slightest thing, pushing each other’s buttons.
Lily and Jake are both great characters that I really enjoyed reading about. They are both characters that you can easily relate to and I could have read about them for much longer.
All in all this is a great read that I’d definitely recommend to others.

Love Tools is a sweet romance story with a happy ending. I really enjoyed the story, and loved both main characters as well as the supporting siblings. Lily left England and moved to a small town in the US, after inheriting a hardware/tool store. Jake is a cowboy who lives on a ranch with his sister, and is a smart a$$ but also very sweet. There are parts that made me laugh out loud, and others that had me saying awwww. I enjoyed the tidbits about Lily getting to know her dad, after he passed, as well as Jake giving his mom a second chance. Their love story, while a bit predictable, was sweet and funny. I am looking forward to the next book, because Alice seems to be even more of a firecracker than Lily.

Love Tools (Bluestone Series Book 1) by Isobel Reed – Review by Jessica Stone

The quintessential love story, this book was a fast an fun read.

Lily, trying to escape her boring, listless life and dead end job in London, moves to a small town in Montana after inheriting a Hardware store from a father she’s never known.

Jake, a longtime friend of Lily’s fathers, is immediately intrigued with lily upon meeting her shortly after she arrived, he’s bemused by her sailors mouth and posh accent, but even more so taken by her beauty. Known as the town playboy, he’s ready to give up his ways and settle down with lily, he knows she’s the one for him. The only problem is getting to know lily and convincing her that he’s no longer that man.

This book was fun, it’s very fast pace, which I loved, the characters have a wonderfully witty dialogue, and though the book felt fast paced the relationship built between the fmc and mmc was anything but. The romance was slow and sweet, drawn out just perfectly. I’m a sucker for a headstrong female lead, but even more i can’t help but getting sucked in by a male lead who acknowledges that female lead’s abilities, and powerful traits.

All and all a wonderful book, definitely worth the read, not my usual type but wonderful nonetheless, superb writing and story telling from this author, can’t wait to read more from them!

This book follows the story of Lily and Jake. Lily is a woman who is lost and trying to find her passion in this book. Leaving a world that she is used to and traveling to a new place for a fresh start. While discovering what she wants and needs out of her life she meets a man. The man is named Jake. Jake works hard and enjoys a more casual lifestyle than Lily. After an interesting introduction and a new friendship, they meet again.

What happens when the girl who only chooses the wrong types of guys meets the guy who’s never had a long meaningful relationship? What skeletons will be found in both of their closets? Can a misunderstanding tear apart this fragile relationship?

Read this amazing book to find out what happens with Lily and Jake. Amazing character development and a few twists and turns. Very hard book to put down once you have started.

Love Tools: Bluestone Series: Book One

I wasn’t sure what to expect since this was written by a fairly new author and I’m so relieved I wasn’t disappointed and I’m looking to reading more by her in the future.

So much is packed into a short time, and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Definitely a lot of laughs and there may have been some tears shed too. Lily goes through so much from the moment we meet her and it seems that Jake was there at the right time to help Lily while she in turn helps him in return.

I seem to find a supporting character that stands out to me, this time I have two. Alice and Sam are awesome sisters to Lily and Jake and I wish everyone had someone like them in their lives.

I’m looking forward to keeping with with Ms. Read and reading her books as her writing evolves.

4 Stars!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Enjoyable contemporary romance between two people whom are trying to find their way….with some family past that continues to hurt.

Lily, down on her luck with a job and not going anywhere in life, decides to pick up and leave for a little hardware shop in Bluestone that her late estranged father left her. Lily wants to work hard to be successful and also put together pieces of a puzzle on why her father left. When Lily runs into Jake, a local cowboy with stunning looks..at first the banter of back and forth…Lily did not want any relationship let alone to get to know Jake. Lily has bad luck in romance, Jake never had a long term romance…but when they finally left down their guard….the chemistry and sparks ignite. All Jake needs to do is tell Lily how he feels and prove to her he is not just the same type of guy she is used to dating….but will Lily trust again in Jake?

This is definitely an emotional roller coaster of romance, heartbreak, family drama and sizzle all wrapped up in a small town romance. This story is very enjoyable and I really loved both Jake and Lily…as I was rooting for them for a HEA…I am already looking forward to book #2!

Love Tools is the first book in the Bluestone series by Isobel Reed. This is a lovely heart-warming romance that kind of makes you want to give up everything and go and live in a tiny town and open a shop! When Lily finds out that she has inherited her late father’s estate, that is exactly what she does. With nothing keeping her in London she takes over her father’s little hardware shop and tries to find out more about the man who abandoned her as a child. When Lily meets local rancher Jake, it is hardly love at first sight but when he sets his mind on things it is hard to put him off. This was a lovely romance, looking forward to book 2.

A sweet romance with lots of feels. The author tries to take you on a voyage of self discovery while Lily also attempts to find out who her father was.

Lily inherited a hardware store from a father she didn’t know. Feeling stuck in her life in London, Lily takes off for rural Montana to see if she can make a go of it and maybe discover who her father was and why he left her. With enough bad break-ups behind her, Lily swears off men while her life is complicated enough with getting the hardware store up, running, and profitable.

Jake is looking for more. He has a heartbreaker reputation in town but that is not who he is. When this brash, golden haired beauty showed up in town, Jake knew that he had found the one. Now he just needed to convince her.

Darling story sprinkled with some great banter (wishing there was more British slang) and some decent laughs. You will get caught up in the characters and want to keep reading the series!

So many good things to say about this book! From the very beginning of the book I could see myself in Lily, so many of the things she dealt with throughout her life are things that I have also dealt with. The moment she meets Jake I started rooting for them to work out and find their happily ever after, and wanting to know how their love story would end made me read this book super quick! One of my favorite things about the book is that it made me laugh so much, something that I love in a romance book! This was such a great read. What struck me most about this book was the uniqueness of the storyline. I really liked Lily, she was definitely a woman on a mission! She wasn’t afraid to get stuck in. I loved that there was both humour and emotion in the story and the emotion certainly poured off the pages at some points. The characters both primary and secondary were great and I loved the authors writing style, the story was really engaging and I loved every second of it.

I thought this book was well written and captivating from the beginning. Lily aaa left. Hardware store when her estranged father passed away. She picked up the few items she had and left her family In London to travel to Montana and see if she could
Find out anything about her father. The first person she sees is Jake. A gorgeous, muscles cowboy who seems a bit arrogant. She’s immediately attracted to him but, dislikes him at the same time. Luckily for Lily it’s a small town and everyone is friendly and willing to help her out. Lily has daddy issues. Jake has mommy issues and well they can be a match made in heaven or a recipe for disaster. Lily’s new best friend just happens to be Jake’s sister and she warns Jake to stay away from Lily. Jake finds it hard to stay away from her and can’t stop thinking of her. Can he be the man she needs or will she just be a passing fling for him? Sweet read that can and will capture your heart. Do good guys still exist out there or is Jake just acting like one?

UGH. SO FREAKING GOOD. I ADORE Jake and Lily. Their banter? Hilarious. Their chemistry? Off the charts. Once I picked this bad boy up I just couldn’t put it down. The storyline was interesting but the chemistry kept pulling me back in. I love books that alternate the MCs viewpoints- it just gives me a better look into the characters and their development. Also the side characters? I ADORE Sam. I seriously loved this book and would have given it a 10 out of 10 if I wasn’t limited to 5. I’ve never read this author before and Im glad I have now! This story was one I will definitely go back and read multiple times! Every page gave me goosebumps and made me love Lily and Jake more! From the spiteful verbal sparring to the undeniable tension and want for the other person, it was something absolutely amazing. We start the book by Lily deciding to open her deceased fathers store on the other side of the world that he left to her. Despite having no plan and no idea what to do or what the tools in the hardware shop are for. One thing is certain, she needs a break from her crazy family and the suffocating city of London she grew up in. She thinks it will be a nice new setting in a town where no one knows her, until Jake enters and decides to become the new thorn in her side. Wanting to get to know the mysterious girl proves to be a bit more difficult because she wants nothing to do with him and isn’t interested in any sort of friendship. When the tension builds to an unbreakable point and they want to try to be with the other person, old insecurities come into play, and they have to choose whether or not to listen to the doubt or push through and try harder to have a good and healthy relationship. Can they overcome their pasts and the others doubts, or will the stress be too much, and they decide to call it off?

This book is book one of the series. At his was a good read.

Lily is dealing with a dead-end job and her horrible taste in men. After the death of her father, she picks up and moves. She leaves London headed for Montana to reopen the hardware store she was left. That’s where Jake comes in. Lily is not exactly happy with Jake’s presence. Unless of course she can just enjoy the view. Once they get to know each other, you can’t ignore the chemistry. The question is though, will Lily be able to ignore Jake’s reputation or is this just another one of her wrong choices?

I enjoyed this book. There were some laughs along with Lily’s feisty nature. It was a quick read but worth it!

Lily and Jake. I really enjoyed this book and the chemistry between the two. In the beginning, it was very hard to follow along with because it was written in the third person. Almost like Jake’s thoughts coming from another person. Lily for me is relatable in this book as well in the sense of a father that was never around it’s hard for a girl to trust a man and what his intentions are. Jake is snarky in the beginning and I love how his mind wanders. I would definitely recommend this book.
