This is a story to two broken people who just happen to be at the same place at the same time. This sweet story of finding love after being hurt. Melinda is a widow who just happens to be a matchmaker. She lost her love and does not think she will find another one. Adam is a Marine who loses his leg and because of that, his girlfriend walks out on him. Can he ever find love again? Lucinda Race does a wonderful capturing of the pain Melinda and Adam have gone through in their life so far. The characters are relatable and realistic. The storyline is a sweet story. Can two people ever fall in love again? I highly recommend this story because of the simplistic love story.

What a great book! I loved this story so much. We all have something no matter how big or small it may seem to others, that cause us to keep it to only those we know won’t judge you or pressure you etc. Melinda is a business owner of “It’s Just Coffee” matchmaking service and she’s got a pretty great track record with it. We learn a lot about her in this book and my heart broke for her. Adam, what a guy! I won’t give much away about him but he was so sweet, yet tough and new in town. He and Melinda become close as she helps him get matched up with potential dates, and he helps her by building in her backyard garden area. Secrets have a way of showing themselves even if you’re not ready to air them out. This was done so well. Highly recommend.

Great characters and a great plot, I felt like I was right there in the town of the Chester with Melinda and Adam! This was such a heartfelt and heartwarming novel. I highly recommend this book! This is the first novel I’ve read from Lucinda Race before and I can’t wait to read more in the future!

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race is a brilliant book with such strong and captivating characters. I loved the connection between Melinda and Adam, it has such a sweet beginning and blossomed into so much more. I thought the author had a great balance between some deep, emotional topics and the sweet romantic story. Both had their place and both felt like they worked in this book. It was so nice to see the friendship between the 2 characters develop, and then develop into more. This was my first book by this author and I was impressed with her writing style and how she draws the reader in. This is a fantastic book and one I would highly recommend.

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race is a beautifully written romance novel that I didn’t want to end! Melinda Phillips is the town matchmaker who has a great track record, many of her couples have ended up marrying each other. However, she has sworn never to date again after losing her husband so she strives to find true love for her clients. That is until she encounters the most handsome Marine at a client’s wedding. Adam Bell is a retired Marine due to an injury he got while serving. Not only did he end up losing his leg but his girlfriend couldn’t cope with his new norm and left him. Adam can’t help but feel that if he lets anyone know his secret they will take pity on him. As a friendship begins between Melinda and Adam, they can’t help but wonder if they are each other’s second chance at happiness. This novel was so refreshing to read. The friendship that was created between Melinda and Adam was so innocent and sweet yet such a struggle. They learned to accept the past and move forward with their new lives. It was such a heartwarming novel to read that I truly didn’t want it to end. This was a romance novel that wasn’t full of sexy scenes and dirty talk, and honestly, I didn’t miss it one bit.

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race is a lovely second chance romance. It is well written and the characters are easy to fall in love with. They are each flawed and scared and both learning to get on with life after heartbreak and tragedy. If only they could set it aside and learn to trust again and take a step back and see what is right in front of their faces. It is a sweet and easy read to get lost in and makes for a nice afternoon reading.

This was a touching love story about 2 people who have had trouble and heartache in their lives overcoming it to be together and finding happiness again.
Melinda is a matchmaker. Her job and passion in life is to find people their perfect match and create as many happy ever afters as possible. She is able to do this for everyone apart from herself. After her husband got killed by a drunk driver she feels she can’t even expect love again. That is until she meets Adam.
Adam is a retired Marine. He left due to an injury that means his leg was amputated. That same fact is something he doesn’t want anyone knowing about especially not Melinda. He goes to Melinda to sign up to her dating site to find him his perfect match but what neither of them expect to find is that they are perfect matches for each other.
Can they both overcome their pasts to be able to build a future together? Will Melinda still accept Adam completely despite his disability and will Adam feel able to trust Melinda enough to show himself to her completely.

These types of stories always send me on the best possible emotional rollercoaster. Race does a fantastic job setting the stage for a beautiful story. I was immediately invested, rooting for the main characters to find a way. Because at the end, aren’t we all looking for our own HEA? This played to my romantic heart with a foot kept firmly in reality. I had a hard time putting this down and simply wanted to spend more time with these characters. Beautiful book.

Matchmaker Melinda is exceptional at her job in the town of Chester where she’s coupled almost everybody around. As a widower, she aspires to help everyone find the love she’s experienced with her late husband. She’s protecting her own heart by being one and done with marriage after the loss. Adam is a retired marine who has great pain from the war and his heart is no exception to being bruised and battered so he strives to protect it. Melinda opens a part of him he’d thought had died and brightens his outlook on life. Melinda hires the marine as a carpenter to create a pergola in her backyard while he’s now open to what services she provides but there’s a friendship developing between the two. The only problem is will they bypass their past to create a future together? This story was sweet in the best ways. I loved how their chemistry was natural. Great characters with steamy and romantic interests made this book an easy read which I could not put down. This book makes you believe in love again and shows it’s okay to put your heart on the table for love.

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race
What a sweet story! I loved how Adam was the epitome of a Marine. He was well mannered, respectful, honorable and is still a Marine though he’s retired. As someone who works with a lot of military I was happy to see she got that part right.
Melinda is enjoying her new life as a Matchmaker. She had no idea when she went to the wedding of one of her couples that her life is going to change for the better.
This was an incredibly sweet story between Adam and Melinda. They both have scars and are learning to live their new lives. I really enjoyed this story and would love to see more of the Matchmaker’s successful couples.

I am not gonna lie, I really wanted to get my hands on this novel the moment I saw the teasers and cover. I am a sucker for military romance stories being a former NAVY brat myself gives me all the feels of home sometimes when I read about the men and women who serve to protect our country. This one was a sweet spin on the second chance romance and military romance, and I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with Melinda and Adam.
We meet Melinda, a woman who is set and determined to matchmaker the perfect couple. She only wants to give others a taste of the same love she once held so dear to her heart. She lost her love of her life but others don’t have to miss out too. When she meets Adam at a friend’s wedding she never intended for her heart to start beating the romance tune again but it slowly starts to unthaw and heal. Will these two be able to find a love within each other? This book was so much fun to get lost in. I felt as if I was visiting the coast and soaking in the sun as I watched these two slowly fall in love with each other. I can’t wait to get my hands on more of Lucinda Race’s works!

The Matchmaker and the Marine by Lucinda Race a four-star matchmade in heaven read. This is such an emotional and surprising read, Adam is such a great character, everything he goes through will just make you care so deeply for him, there is just something about him that keeps you hooked. Melinda was a good character but she took me longer to warm too, she has a tragic story as she lost the love of her life, and I admire her wanting to help others get that love, but there was just something about her that rubbed me the wrong way in the start, by the end I adored her but needed tie for her to grow on me.

The Matchmaker and The Marine is a fantastic small town romance story by Lucinda Race. I had never read any of this author’s work but was intrigue by the blurb and decided to give it a go. I’m so glad that I took a chance on this book as I loved the story and the characters so much. Melinda moved to the small town a few year back to start a new life for herself after the death of her beloved husband. She has set up a matchmaking company and has had a great deal of success in setting up local couples. At the wedding of one such couple she meets retired marine Adam who has recently moved to the town. When Adam hires Melinda to help find him some romance he soon realises that Melinda herself is the woman that he’s attracted to. As much as she loves setting up other couples, Melinda has no desire to find herself another man. She had her one true love with her husband. But she can’t help how her body reacts around Adam. I loved this story so much. The growing attraction between Adam and Melinda is lovely to read. You just can’t help but hope that the dates she sets him up with go badly as Melinda is perfect for him. There’s a good deal of angst throughout this book but that is something that I really enjoy reading. These 2 characters are perfect for each other but will a huge secret that Adam is hiding tear them apart when Melinda finds out? I urge anyone who is considering this book to give it a go as I think it’s a wonderful book.

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race was a great 5 star read. I was pulled right in from the beginning.
Melinda is a matchmaker, after her tragic loss she has made it her goal to help others find “the one” and get their HEA. While at a wedding for a couple she helped connect, she meets Adam. There is something about him that gets her attention, she can tell he’s military from the way he carries himself.
Adam is an ex marine who has moved to the area to start over. When he meets Melinda he finds what she does for a living interesting. He lets her set him up on a few dates but the only real connection he feels is with her.
Will these two admit they have a connection and try a relationship? Can they get a second chance at love? Could a secret ruin everything?
Overall I really enjoyed this read. The author pulls you in with her writing. You could feel the attraction between these two coming off the pages. These two were meant for each other and I was happy to read about their journey to a second chance. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

I absolutely loved all the characters in this read and really enjoyed following their journey and story. It was an emotional rollercoaster of a read that took me along with the characters in which I kept turning the pages to find out more! I loved how their connection and chemistry grew, it was real and raw and just what I think both of them really need and I’m glad I went along on their journey. This isn’t what I expected. It sounds great in the synopsis. It is very wordy and a slow romance. Melinda is a matchmaker. We learn all about her services and her friends. Adam is a former marine. He hires Melinda to find him a match. He goes out on dates then decides he likes Melinda as more than a friend. They become great friends and we get a front row seat to this slow sweet romance.
The story is nice and slow. I just felt it took a long time to get from point A to point B. The characters are finely developed. This just isn’t my cup of tea. A faster pace and less filler would have worked better for me.

The Matchmaker and the Marine is the first story that I have read by Lucinda Race. This is a contemporary second chance, small-town romance- all about taking a chance on love and finding love unexpectedly. Melinda Phillips is a very successful matchmaker. She knows what it is like to find a ‘forever love’, and even though her soul mate has passed away, she still wants everyone to experience that kind of true love. Adam Bell retired from the Marines after his last tour left him scarred, both physically and emotionally. His confidence has taken a battering and even though he longs for someone special in his life, he isn’t sure he wants to take the risk of being hurt. But meeting Mel changes things, so he signs up for matchmaking, and they soon form a friendship. Will they both open up and take a chance on love, or will the pain of their pasts deny them the chance of finding happiness? If you love romance, and you want to know how the story ends, you should take a chance on this sweet story and find the answers for yourself. Sweet, spicy, and emotive!

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race. I loved this book. In fact I read it in one setting leaving me a little book hungover the next day but it was worth it. Its the story of Melinda a psychologist turned matchmaker. Melinda is trying to put her life back together after losing her Police Officer husband to a horrible accident. She has moved to the small town of Chester and has made a name for herself as a matchmaker. While attending one of the matches wedding’s she is introduced to Adam a former Marine who is new to town. He is best friends with the groom and decides he needs to have Melinda fix him up. Once they meet they become fast friends and Melinda sets out to find Adam his perfect match. Adam is keeping a secret though, something very important to him was lost during his time in the Marines. He’s scared to be honest about it because of the way his last girlfriend responded. As Adam goes on dates that Melinda has set up he realizes that maybe Melinda is the one for him not these other women. Will Melinda realize its time to find love for herself and move on or will the secret Adam is harboring tear them apart. This is a sweet contemporary romance that I couldn’t put down!

The authors writing style was really relaxed which made the book such a pleasure to read and that along with the pace and flow definitely made it a 5 star read in my opinion. I think I fell in love with Melinda and Adam from the very beginning, both of them with their own issues to overcome and I could feel the genuine connection that they seemed to have. This was a really lovely second-chance romance story and one that I would absolutely recommend to other readers! I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

When your love of your life is no more and you have sworn to dedicate your life to helping others find the same love, will an unexpected person offer hope that you can have that again.
Melinda is a matchmaker, after the death of her husband the love of her life she has vowed to find that passion and love for other people. She believes that she will never feel that love again not in her life time until she meets Adam at a friend’s wedding. As there friendship goes on is there a glimmer of hope that he could be the one to re-enlight the love in Melinda’s heart.
Adam is a marine but after an attack he has been discharged and has lost what feels like everything, once his girlfriend saw the scars of war all over him she bailed on him and after talking to a buddy has ended up in Chester looking to start over again. He is now at a friend’s wedding talking to a woman who seems to look past the scars and they have a lovely conversation. Melinda then starts to set him up on dates which don’t go quite as planned but he can feel the emotions running through him when he speaks to her.
But will a secret break this bond and ruin everything?
I loved this story from the first word to the last, the story is well written and flows brilliant through the emotions and chemistry of these two brilliant matched characters. The characters are both flawed in different ways and the friendship and trust comes through the story and builds to a great ending. I highly recommend this book to those who love a good story with chemistry and banter.

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance By Lucinda Race 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race. It is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until the final page. It is a book that has a wonderful storyline and amazing characters. I loved reading about Melinda Phillips and Adam Bell. Melinda wants everyone to experience the kind of love she lost. Her goal as a matchmaker is to find her clients that special someone. Melinda has resigned herself to a lonely life. Then she meets Adam. Adam is a man who has a physical reminder of his war-torn past. He still remembers the pain when his girlfriend left him. Now he has met Melinda at a friend’s wedding. Adam and Melinda start a friendship. They seem to be able to talk easily with each other. What will happen if their feelings for each other begin to change? What does the future hold for Melinda and Adam? Would they take a second chance at love? Read this book to find out. This story had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about what happens to Melinda and Adam. I wanted them to be happy. I enjoyed the bantering that goes back and forth between them. I also enjoyed reading about the other characters that they interacted with. This is a romantic story that warmed my heart. I highly recommend reading it.

I had no issues connecting to the characters as they took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I was pulled in right from the beginning of the story. It is an engaging, fast paced story that had me turning pages fast. Melinda lost her love and led a lonely life. She is determined to bring couples together to find their true love. Adam is a handicapped Marine whose girlfriend dumped him after he came back home. What will happen when Adam goes to Melinda for help? What happens next neither one expects and neither will you. I highly recommend reading this book. Their chemistry will pull you in!

Melinda prides herself on her matchmaking ability as evident by the number of couples getting hitched in the town of Chester. She wants everyone to find the kind of love she shared with her late husband. Melinda is satisfied to remain the mysterious widowed matchmaker. Facing her future alone is less painful than risking her heart again.
Adam is a retired Marine. He longs to have a partner but carries the physical and emotional scars from his last tour of duty. He protects his heart as fiercely as he protects his scars. Until a chance meeting with the highly successful matchmaker, Melinda changes his ideas about his future.
Taking a leap of faith Adam signs up for her matchmaking services. In turn Melinda hires Adam as a carpenter to fulfill her wish to have a pergola in her back yard. As the structure is constructed piece by piece their friendship grows.
Will Adam and Melinda’s relationship develop into something deeper or will the scars from their past keep them from finding love?
Award winning author Lucinda Race writes about family, love and happily ever afters.
A life long fan of romance books she is surrounded by books she wants to read. It all started as a young girl when she spent countless hours reading novels and dreaming of, one day, becoming a writer.
As life twists and turns, she found herself writing nonfiction but longed to turn to her true passion, romantic fiction. After developing the story line for The Loudon Series, it was time to start living her dream. With fingers flying over computer keys, she does her best to bleed on the page.
Lucinda lives, with her husband Rick, and their two little dogs, Jasper and Griffin, in the rolling hills of western Massachusetts. When she’s not writing romance novels Lucinda still reads everything she can get her hands on.
