THE RUNAROUND: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (CAROLINA CONNECTIONS BOOK 6) By SYLVIE STEWART – Review by Lyndsey Fairley

The Runaround (Carolina Connections #6)The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 6 in this series, and can be read as a standalone as it follows just one couple.
But I did love seeing some of the previous characters in this story.

Jax isn’t a commitment guy, feelings emerge and he jumps ship. Then comes Ari, and he’s learning more about himself than ever before. He’s also dealing with being a new dad to a teenager who hates his guts.
Ari is working her tail off to achieve her goal for her dream job. She’s got a habit of picking the wrong guys for her. She was hilarious and real and I loved her through this whole entire book. She was very relatable and I loved that about this writing.

Hope to get more in this series!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book. Its nice to slow down a bit from the drama, fast paced, super steamy books and this did just that.
Holly has to end her career and heads home, reluctant as she may be, and from beginning to end this story had me so wrapped up in it all.
This authors writing was amazing and made you feel as if you were right there with the characters and going through it all with them.

Landing the Lawman (Hills of Texas, #5)Landing the Lawman by Kadie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 5 of this series and is best to be read in order to get to know the family better.
This is Carter’s story, the only girl in her family and how she now has her dream job after leaving a relationship and her job.
She works closely with Logan and after a burned relationship he is far from wanting a commitment ever again.

I really loved these two, they balanced each other well. And loved seeing the family again even if the reason they’re all close again wasn’t a good one. I loved watching the changes and relationship bloom here and am so sad this series is now at its end. Ive enjoyed them all.

Taming Zane (Almost Perfect Series Book 2)Taming Zane by Lisa Lanay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such a great read. The chemistry between Shannon and Zane was instant and couldn’t wait to see where it went and how it unfolded.
Shannon was strong and I loved her little quirks, i mean of course we women talk to ourselves we need expert advice after all!
Zane is a confirmed bachelor and we don’t learn the exact reasons until almost the end. He feels Shannon is different and tries to distance himself from her in the emotional way as to not develop feelings.

I really liked these two, and I yelled at my kindle twice as they made stupid decisions or comments and I wanted to hit their heads together.

I hope we get more books as I want the brothers stories as they’re going to be good I know!

I must say, I went into this with high hopes based off the synopsis and I feel a bit let down. I wanted a bit more depth with the characters I just couldn’t connect in a way I usually can, even in a small way.
I did enjoy reading and getting to know these characters, Lexi gets a new job only to have her ex be her new boss. When feelings start to resurface between these two, there’s a battle within for Lexi.
I will be going back and reading this again as I think the 2 books i read before this were deep deep romantic and sweet this just threw my reading brain off kilter.
I will be reading more from this author in the future as I did like the story overall.

5 ++++++++ (there’s not enough to justify this book)

Ok, seriously can this author stop making me love another biker every time I read a new book? I’ve got enough biker book boyfriends to last me a lifetime now but I will still greedily take more!
Ink, he’s intrigued me from the start of this series and I was so happy to get this book. And he didn’t disappoint one bit. Typical biker, ex marine, single for life, one and done. We’ve read about it in every book and every book they fall harder and harder. This had such an amazing story and something different than ever before. (For real how does she do This every single time)
Bethany, or Beth, is now one of my favorite female characters in these books, she’s not afraid to take the fall for her mistakes no matter the consequences, as like the other females who need to be strong to be with a biker, but she hit me on different level and I can’t put my finger on why.
These two, oh the chemistry, the give and take and the just overall protectiveness these two had so quickly just drew me right in and I couldn’t devour this fast enough.

I am so so curious who will be next and I have a guess, but we will see if I’m right or wrong when that time comes. As for now, I will just love this book as being my favorite at this moment and probably best read of the year so far.

This book is not in my normal age group range for characters (high school). I just feel i don’t relate or they’re acting older than they should but this had a nice balance so it held me to the story.
Abbie is destined to go far but someone is trying to blackmail her for the one wrong thing she ever did. I kind of figured it out early on but wasn’t 100% sure until closer to the end.
Will read more from this author as it seems with the sneak peak at the end the story continues on for Abbie in college and another mystery.

A Sun So Bright (Reigning Hearts Book Three) by KG Fletcher – Review by Lyndsey Fairley

A Sun So Bright (Reigning Hearts, #3)A Sun So Bright by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 3 in this series, and while stated its a standalone, if you haven’t read the first 2 i highly recommend. Not only will this book pack a harder punch than it does, it gives some different perspective on into how and who Fiona is before this book.
I went into this book dreading reading about Fiona, she just didn’t sit well with me in the previous stories but I knew if she was getting her own book, we would learn much more into what makes her, her.
I will not be giving anything away about this story but it had it all. Laughs and chuckles, tears oh the tears, and so much love.
This book took me by surprise and I now love Fiona to death. And am so happy I found this series.

Well that’s one way to start a book! This had me holding on tight and watching this all unfold. I felt like i was right there in the story. This author just paints such a great picture with everything she writes.
So many twists and turns, I didnt know which way this was going to go and where we would end up.

I have read this series in order but you can read this as a standalone, but I think its best to read all 3.
This book was sweet, and shows no matter what love can prevail.
Im not the biggest fan of back and forth from past to present but did appreciate getting to know Mary Ann. This is the perfect ending to this trilogy, and I will look for more from this author .

Set it Free (Fallen Eagles MC Book 3)Set it Free by T. Birmingham
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in this series and i highly recommend reading in order as there’s a lot of backstory and characters we learn about previously. I love a good MC book but this hits different for me. Yes they’re in or around an MC but its more about their personal lives than “club business” I’m used to.

This story hits right in the feelings and not just sadness but humor too. I cried, I laughed, I swooned and my heartbroke. Spring has been through so much in her life and she is imploding due to her secrets and doubt. Casper/Cal is there but has to make a choice for the both of them that isn’t easy.

Great series, cant wait for more.

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery
5 ++++++++ stars

I just finished reading this book and I have to say first off, BRAVO! Amazing read, and very eye opening and made me more self aware of things I think or say, as i have a 6 year old daughter who is watching and listening to everything.
Now I read in here that the author would like to hear from someone on the skinny side of things and I’ll start this off with saying, my whole life (I’m 32) I have been tiny. I’ve had 3 kids and being pregnant was the only time in my life the scale ever went over 100lbs. To me, that was a hard pill to swallow seeing the number go up so much every appointment as it was not a normal thing for me to see. I knew it was normal and needed and I didn’t change anything I was doing as I wanted to do the best for the growing child in me but it took until my 2nd pregnancy to get over the shock and just guess how much I grew.
My whole life i was labeled the skinny girl, told I needed to eat more , presumed to have an eating disorder etc and with that I can put myself in others shoes as, yes skinny people get bullied too. Not to the extremes I’ve read or heard about for those larger than me, but its all coming from the same malicious place.
This book has kicked me into wanting to journal with my 6 year old as she, unlike me, puts on weight at a speed I’m not used to personally or compared to her older & younger brothers and that’s ok because its her body as we are all different.. She’s beautiful, bright and doesn’t know or care how she looks and that’s my goal to keep with her into loving herself as we’ve never said a negative thing to her, as I remember what it feels like to hear things .
For years, I cried as I didn’t feel like a girl because I have little to no chest. I can go without a bra and no one would notice and I hated that, made me feel less than. Then when I started to accept the fact at age 15, my mom who was in the same boat genetically, got surgical breast lift procedures by Dr. Hyman in the New York City area and that started my plan for after I was done with having children that was a must do. She was happier, able to wear whatever she wanted and just seemed to be ‘whole’. I still get the urge to book an appointment just to see, but I have a Husband who tells me often he loves me for me and its starting to sink in that I’m perfect how I am.

For me, I feel genetics do play a part as the majority of my family is thin, I remember the story of my maternal grandmother she was newly pregnant with her 8th child and she was 98lbs, so that plays a role and who are we to judge something that many struggle with and have almost zero control over. You can’t change your genetic makeup but this book helps teach to embrace you for you and to love who you are.
This feels like rambling now but I don’t care. No matter your body type, read this book, do the journals and love yourself for who you are because there’s only one you here.

Master’s Rise: Book 1 (Phoenix Series) by L. Ann Marie – Review by Lyndsey Fairley

Master's Rise: Book One (Phoenix Series)Master’s Rise: Book One by L. Ann Marie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a new to me author and with an MC book i just had to dive right in. This took a bit to get used to the writing style and flow but after a bit it clicked and I was flipping through the pages.
Ive not really read any books where we get to see the building and start of a club so it was interesting to get a front row seat to all that goes into it.
I can’t say I’ve laughed so much in an MC book before so that was a welcome change and I fell for these characters fast. I did feel like I was missing something or a big chunk of time and that bothered me as its a start of a series but no real big backstory type.
I am looking forward to more in this series as I am now invested!

I love a good mystery story and while we get that with this book, for me personally, I finished this book feeling confused more than anything.
I was drawn right into this book and really wanted to know more of our female lead and while we learned her story along the way, I couldn’t really connect with her like I wanted as we go into so many different characters thoughts and actions, it took away from that, for me.
I really cant wait to read the rest of this series as I want to know what happens next and maybe get some answers for this book too.

This is the second book in this series, and what a book!
I wasn’t a huge fan of book 1 but this book took me on a ride I didn’t want to finish.
Shannon is a district attorney and may have just put the wrong person in jail.
The twists and turns in this story were surprising and i didn’t see them coming.
This is a must read!

This is the third book in this series, and I highly reccomend starting from the beginning as its a continuation of characters.
This book followed Detective Morrison, whom I wanted to know more about. He just always seemed to know things, or have many friendly talks going with many people and got into so easily.
This is yet another dark, twisted, great read from this series and each one leaves me wanting more! Cant wait to read the next one

Ok this author has done it again! I think I know the answer and I’m wrong. This book had me hooked. Dawn feels a connection to her aunts house in Florida so she makes the decision to move there after she’s murdered. Things start to happen and she come to the conclusion that the suspect they have in custody isn’t the right person. I couldn’t put this down as I just had to know and boy was I wrong on my first guess.

What a surprise this book was! I didn’t know we would be getting more from this series and what a book this was. It can essentially be read as a standalone, but I wouldn’t want to as we get to know more of the history of Petrosky in the previous books.

We are introduced to a new partner, Jackson, and I felt she was perfect to add with Petrosky.
We’re onto another killer and this one is tests Petrosky and his moral compass.
What a book. You won’t want to miss this one.

I will preface this by saying this is not my go to genre to read, but I was drawn in by the cover and then the synopsis. I have to say I am so glad I made that jump to read this! It took just a bit to get used to the way of writing but then it just faded to the background and we were off on an amazing story.
I had parts i didn’t care for and others that were so good I had to read again, but these are my opinion and may be someone else’s in a different way.
I loved reading about Trotter and Alice.
I will be reading more from this author, very great story teller and helped me visualize this whole book in my head!

I must start this by saying I was nervous to see a new series based around another series but I shouldn’t have worried as Via Mari knows what she’s doing!
We get 4 pov’s in this book, Chase, Katarina, Gio and Serena. We get the same heat and passion as with all her books, but we also get to see more in depth of the goings on inside the family business.
I can’t really say much it would give this whole story away, but I will say I loved the news we learn and can’t wait to find the answer to that burning question. And we have some other unanswered questions around many other people too! Bring on the next please!

Natalie is planning the wedding of Cy and Jolie (yay!), and when the officiant shows up a week before the wedding, she’s to show him around. This had me laughing as we all know the park is adult themed and I think this author is the only one who could pull this off the way she did.
So much has happened in this series and each book is flawless, and does a great job of highlighting each couple and the things that set them apart but also what ties them altogether.
I finished this book in one afternoon sitting and i can’t wait to start from the beginning and read the whole series again.

This was just a bit different than the previous series stories, but also its the first book so it has to set the scene too. Lets just say I’m used to more “tricks” and groveling, but this worked for these 2.

Kinley is traveling and from the get go has issues, she runs into Shane, literally and here our story takes off. I loved these two, she is strong in her own way but also not a run and hide type of heroine which I love . Shane was great and I really loved his friends too (i need to have their stories now).

While we follow Brice and Favor in their POV, we are also getting a huge secondary story of Wayne and Jana. (Can’t wait for that one, it’s going to be emotional I can just tell)
Brice and Favor are spending the summer with friends and don’t expect What all happens to happen. They’re wanting fun and bonding and they get drama and high emotions. I felt all of everything in this book, and while its quick it packs its punches well. Can’t wait to get more from this group of characters.

Now they’re both successful in their career choices and when Jake has no place to stay for a few months, he winds up at Kimberly’s.
Both are fighting feelings but for different reasons, life and emotions get the best of them.
