Beast (Popov Bratva Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Emily H

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Even though scared of what his future will hold, Adrik approaches the Popov family to join their ranks of their crime family. Adrik is riddled in scars and carries himself in way that his him working his way up the ladder. When he sees Annika, a Bratva princess, he decides he will never leave this life if only to keep an eye on her. He plans to stay in the shadows but Annika is haunted by her past just as Adrik is. After years hiding from her Adrik crosses Annika’s path and soon they form a friendship that slowly builds to something more. Can Annika see past his scars and perhaps Adrik find a happiness he never knew existed?

A ton of twists in this story. Both Adrik and Annika are carrying scars from things that happened to them. I liked Annika a lot, she was perfect for Adrik. Adrik’s character was written in such a way that you are pulled to him in an emotional sense, you just want to become his protector. Highly entertaining read.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a very easy to read book. It went quickly for me because I couldn’t put it down. The characters grasped me by the heart strings in the very beginning. This book has its share of drama and edge of the seat suspense. The characters have trauma and growth. This book hits on everything that I enjoy in a book. It gives the characters a voice, almost as if they are speaking to the author in person. The details in the book are in a class above most. Being able to actually visualize the events in the books AND feel the emotions that the characters have makes this book one that can’t be put down. You will feel yourself giving off the emotions of the characters to anyone who dares to try to talk to you while reading it. Tears to raging anger and everything in-between is the emotional roller coaster you will go on. I highly suggest this book to anyone who is wanting to escape from their own reality for a little while. Must read!!!

Beast (Popov Bratva Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Karyn Taylor

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 5th book in a fantastic Mafia Romantic Suspense series. Although part of a series, each book can be read as a standalone. I started this series by reading book 4 and did not feel that I was left missing any necessary information to enjoy and understand the book. The same can be said of this book.
Having read book 4, I was quite intrigued by the character Beast and I was so glad to find out that we were getting his story next. Named Beast due to his face being badly scarred and damaged in a dog attack when he was younger, Adrik has no hopes of ever finding a woman who will see past his scars and fall in love with him. Definitely not Mafia princess Annika Popov who he has secretly crushed on for many years. All that changes when he is put in charge of keeping her safe from an attacker who has already tried to kill her.
I really loved Adrik and Annika’s story. Ardik is an amazing character. Such a tortured, wounded soul with a horrendous past. I totally fell in love him reading this book. I also adored Annika. She’s not a typical mafia princess full of airs and graces with no regard for others. She’s totally taken by the strange Adrik and can’t fathom the pull that he has on her.
This is a beautiful story to read. I loved reading how Annika’s patience and love brought out the true Adrik and that he got the HEA he so desperately deserved.
100% recommend.

I love this author, for all they create and do, I am never disappointed by this work by any means. This one was powerful, deep and full of emotion! I could not put it down!

Was full sure a thill ride. Adrik was a character that really spoke to me, I felt everything truly within my soul. A person can truly endure a life time of pain, and suffering, and still be standing even though how hard it is most days. I loved Annika as well. They both had endured a lot and deserved peace. Loved their moments together. Loved the authors writing and how they brought the story to life! Loved it!

Great read! This was a deep book that really cakes the cake as you read through it! I could not get enough, it was a wonderful read. Highly recommend the book, author, as well as series!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was hooked on every word right from the very start and I didn’t want to put the book down! I loved the characters who drew into my heart right from the very start. Reading all that both Adrik and Annika had been through was very emotional but also showed us that you can persevere through anything and come out stronger. In some ways both characters see themselves defined by what they see as their flaws but at the same time try help each other to realise that to be untrue. When danger comes after Annika yet again Adrik is the only one who can save her and he will do absolutely anything to do just that!
This is the 5th book in this series and the first one that I have read. I had no problem reading it and fully enjoying it as it does read easily as a stand alone however I will now be going back and reading all the previous books for the series as I am completely intrigued now to find out the full stories for all the other characters mentioned in this book. I just know they will be great too!

This book was an intense romantic suspense. I have to admit that I did figure out who the interloper was. The suspense was well written and drawn out. Watching Adrik deal with his feelings and guilt made you feel like you were there. The characters were really written to feel like they fit the personality and the story. Once I started, I could not put that story down. It does pull you in and engage you. A definite 5 star read. I love this series and I believe you will too.

Beast (Popov Bratva Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson
Genre – Mafia, Romantic Suspense

Beast.

That’s what they call me.

I can’t blame them.

My face half-eaten by a dog, the hideous scars make people gasp and turn away.

Except for her.

Annika Popov. A sheltered Bratva princess who has never seen me.

I’d like to keep it that way.

A glorified thug and interrogator, I work for her family. Doing despicable things. Luckily, my ugly face does most of my work.

Annika is off-limits. The boss’s daughter. She doesn’t know I watch her secretly. Or that I weave fantasies around her. I know I can never act on them.

When Annika’s life is threatened, her father gives me an unexpected task: take her to the lake house and protect her at all costs.

I take my job very seriously.

I am her elusive protector, staying in the shadows.

Until her curiosity brings her closer.

Suddenly, Annika sees the Beast.

But I’m no threat to her.

She has no idea what is hunting her.

Or that the true beast is closing in.

And I’m all that stands between her and danger.

HOT, HOT, HOT!!! Kate is in Aruba at a work conference. She went a little early over the weekend so that she could have everything ready to present come Monday morning. She is in the lounge having a drink relaxing when all of a sudden she needs to perform CPR on someone. A gentleman stranger arrives and takes over the CPR as he sees her getting tired. Once paramedics arrive and the situation is under control, the gentleman, Chase, invites Kate to join him for supper. Chase does not admit who he is to Kate over the weekend events that they share together. When Monday morning comes and she gets to the conference and Chase walks in and presents himself as the CEO of the company she is working for, she freaks out. She has always steered clear of dating anyone she works with, especially her boss. This is a hot, steamy, easy-to-read book, and I highly recommend it!

While this book wasn’t what I was expecting, there were very good qualities for this story. Chase and Katarina are the perfect example of ‘Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover’. Where Katarina is unsure of what she wants from being in a romantic relationship, Chase knows exactly what and who he wants but things quickly become complicated when the deals done in the dark are brought to light and Katarina isn’t sure if she has what it takes to be with him. Chase refuses to even entertain the idea of her not being by his side, Chase is willing to do whatever it takes to get her to be with him and while Katarina struggles with her own morals and values, she is often left confused and scared because she doesn’t know who to trust and who is willing to harm or help her, can she trust Chase when she doesn’t know all the information? And when he is hesitant to share everything with her, can he let his walls down and finally let someone in?

This book was very entertaining to read, I love book boyfriends that are controlling and caring. Loved the communication before/about the sex. The tension was there, it was built up beautifully. The only reason it’s not five stars is because the plot didn’t blow me away as much but overall it was a good, worthwhile read. Link

Kate and Chase have an interesting beginning coming together in a way to save a man’s life. Little did she know, she was talking to the man who hired her. I thought the characterization of both was well done. The setting being in Aruba lends even more romance to this story. It’s a little slow at the beginning, but the romance and suspense start to build soon. It’s a great story and I really enjoyed it.

What a great prequel to the Mafia Elite Series. Getting to know the mafia princesses while they were younger was a real treat and especially getting to know Marissa. I’m so sad this series is finished but can’t wait to see them maybe show up in other places:-) or maybe a secret baby will show up. A girl can hope and dream can’t she? This author has easily become one of my all time favorites and will always be an automatic one click now.

Degrees of Innocence (Prestian Series, #1)Degrees of Innocence by Via Mari
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The synopsis of this hooked me immediately. I love a good Mafia romance but this felt very misleading and honestly i was confused and thought i had gotten the wrong book when i was reading it because there was a very quick reference to Mafia but it was near the end of the book so i personally would not have called this a mafia romance unless in the later books in this series it is revealed that Chase is really in the Mafia and was just good at keeping it lowkey in this book. Now for Kate i was extremely confused in the beginning of the book because it starts off with her performing CPR in a restaurant at a resort she is staying in that is hosting a convention for her work. It is very unclear what work she is doing or what the project is for half the book. I felt like i had missed chapters explaining her back story and with the CPR thing i thought maybe she would somehow be in the medical field and in a way she is but not in the way this starts off. We were just dropped right into the thick of it and i felt lost.

On a happier note i did appreciate the romance between Kate and Chase but i will say their dialogue was very formal and did not feel flirty at all. Maybe because they are older but i found nothing about their banter sexy. There were some steamy scenes though and some action packed scenes i would expect in a mafia book but i wish there had been more. This did end up being a fun and easy read but i wanted more. Im hoping the rest of the series is more action packed.

As their relationship develops so does the danger to Katerina and Chase wants nothing more than to keep her safe! What a wonderful start to this series! This very talented author never ever disappoints with her creative and captivating storylines, amazing characters and steamy love scenes. Great read! I really liked the concept of Katerina being so inexperienced when it came to romance but wasn’t naive. Chase is your standard rich man, in that he is very controlling when it comes to the woman he loves, so that gets him in trouble. Katerina on the other hand had that annoying trait of not trusting the one she loves. The person out to destroy Katerina, either I wasn’t paying attention or I didn’t see it coming. The word baby is way overused, but didn’t completely throw me off.

Not the first book I have read by this author and not the last I promise. I was completely lost in the world of this book. I felt very connected to the story. Chase and Kate ( Katarina ) meet in Aruba at a hotel when a man at the hotel bar falls to the ground. When Kate realizes the man isn’t breathing she starts CPR and yells for someone to call 9-1-1. Luckily Chase strides over and helps her administer CPR until help arrives.
Chase and Kate have an instant attraction but Chase refuses to give in to his attraction and desires right away. He takes Kate out to eat a few times, sight seeing and they share kisses but he tells her to remember how she feels at that exact moment and they will continue what they started the following day.Kate finds out the following day who he really is and doesn’t know if she can continue what they started. When Kate’s life is in danger, Chase takes charge and vows to keep her safe. Lots of secrets are revealed and there’s a lot of unexpected twists in this book. Definitely a 5 star read for me. Mafia romance what’s not to love! All the Mafia princesses are off at college and still under the watchful eyes of the Five Families. Lil, Em, Sofia, Marissa all were hoping to be able to choose their own husbands but being from a Mafia family most father’s chose their husbands based on what the man could bring to the family. Marissa has been promised to Tony, who she cannot stand and does not want to marry. The girls felt safe in their haven at college until the night of the party during winter break before Marissa was to be married. Marissa had set out to speak with Ivan, who is part of the Russian Bratva and might know something about her sister Camilla who was married into the Russian Bratva. But unfortunately things go wrong and Marissa ends up dead. Who’s to blame and will the girls have their revenge?

This entire series was absolutely amazing. I got my daughter hooked on it. I loved the variety of characters. I will miss all the characters as the author made them come alive in every book. It was like you were part of the family as they went through life in the mafia.

This prequel was about Marissa who we have heard about in every book but did not know her exact story. We all know she died and that the ladies were all close like sisters. I wish this prequel had been longer as I was not ready to say goodbye to these characters yet. Here’s hoping we all get to read about them again.

To the Author: This series has been an amazing ride. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the mafia books. Bravo.

Defiant Princess: A Mafia Elite Series Prequel

If you have read the Mafia Elite Series then you know some of what happened in the past, this lays it all out for us in a nice little story.

Marissa is a name we knew and we caught a glimpse of her and her personality as well as the story behind that night.

There were some gaps filled in for me with some of the history and makes me miss this group. Might have to go back and re-read the series when I have time, but start here.

Defiant Princess (Mafia Elite Series Prequel) by Amy McKinley – Review by Jessica Stone

This book was a lot of fun to read! I’m very into mafia romances, but I’ve yet to read one not only told from a mafia daughters point of view but also MULTIPLE MD’s views.

These are some lovely princesses with a whole lot of personality! What would you expect from a mafia princess though, especially when their lives are all anything but their own.

Each girl has and individual story to be told that weaves into the others, these women are learning how to navigate wanting their freedom to love how an whom they choose, knowing their entire lives that it will never be their choice. All on their last leg of freedom it seems, with impending arranged marriages and familial obligations these girls are ready to do whatever it takes to feel some sort of control, wether it be in the love department or something as simple as one’s passion.

I did not go into this book knowing that it was prequel to a series I’ve been dying to read in its entirety, which is sooooo awesome. I’ve only read one other book from this author, and in the Mafia Elite series but I absolutely loved it so I’m now EVEN more excited to read more in this series. I did read some spoilers looking into this series more, that ruined some surprise coming in the other novels but helped me get more excited to continue reading this authors works. She drops some bombs, expect the unexpected.

I feel like this book COULD be read on its own, but once you read it you’ll be aching for more mafia drama. Im hoping the author puts out more material from the point of view of these women beside the mafia men. Fingers crossed!
