Marked for Death (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 6) by Amy McKinley – Review by Katie Matthews

Marked for Death (Gray Ghost #6)Marked for Death by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think I probably say it every time that I read a new book by this author but this is definitely my favourite by her so far! I was hooked from beginning to end and I honestly could not turn the pages fast enough! The action starts straight away in this fantastic romantic suspense story! I loved the characters Keegan and Kara! The sparks between these two as well as the danger and action unfolding in their surroundings of Venezuela made for one very exciting read!
Marked for Death could be read as a standalone but I absolutely would recommend reading the series in order just to fully understand the dynamics of the secondary characters. Apart from the amazing characters this author creates I just totally love her writing, it’s exciting and captivates me from the first word. I would 100% recommend Marked for Death and anything written by this wonderful author!

The Explorer (Mountains Series #6) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Katie Matthews

The Explorer (Mountains, #6)The Explorer by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I find books by this author so difficult to review now because I always write the same thing but that’s because every single one of her stories is just so wonderful to read. They are always different, they explore different things and I always feel like I have learnt and take something away with me from her stories once I have finished reading them.
I loved the blurb for this book it was so vague that it really felt like I was going into this story blind but as usual what I got from Ms Alexander was a wonderful main character in Abby and getting to read about her life as she navigates coming of age. I loved reading about Abby in previous stories so to now get her own book was really special, I feel like I really know her as a person.
This book could be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend the Mountains series from the beginning!

Wow – just wow! I’m honestly not quite sure where to even begin with this review – this has to be hands down – the best read of 2020 and in fact one of my favourite reads ever. I don’t think I can even find the words to do this book justice! I have read all of the books this author has written and she is one of my all-time favourite authors so I already knew I was going to love it – I’m not sure that I was prepared for just how amazing it was going to be. My emotions were all over the place with this book (I’m not even sure I can blame post pregnancy hormones now seeing’s as the baby is almost 5 months old!) I laughed and I cried, I didn’t know how I would feel from one [age to the next. The characters Cade and Winter were amazing! Cade – yep totally in love with him and I may even have a woman crush on Winter! I loved the two of them together – electric and passion galore!
Cade is a raw emotional read and one that will stay with me for a while – in fact it’s one I cannot wait to read all over again! I 100% recommend you one click this story today!!

A Study in Spirits (College Fae book #2) by Byrd Nash – Review by Faith Jackson

A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2 by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved reading this one and I don’t care that it’s for young adults because at 32, I love a good read and this was definitely that.
We follow Brigit in college but she has to do something to prove her innocence and she’s totally bad-ass at doing it as she does things her way.
Someone has falsely accused her of doing detest actions that don’t fit her character and she’s out to clear her name to the university.
Even worse, as a fairy, she owes a debt to her doppleganger as she has to unravel what’s leering in the library. Whatever it is, it’s haunting the books she loves which is all the ammunition she needs to put an end to this thing’s reign of terror. Since the administration at the university, Brigit and her friends will do what they must to put an end to it.
Brigit’s friends have unique gifts of their own to unravel the mysteries before them which makes this book juicier. Logan can recognize the truth within the blink of an eye and gamer girl Emma may know more than she’s letting on. The ghosts of the school are even on the side of the good but the evil force may be way more powerful than they initially thought.

Cade (Default Distraction #3) by A.S. Roberts – Review by Faith Jackson

Cade (Default Distraction #3)Cade by A.S. Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Default Distraction is a chart-topping band with let me just put this lightly, major success.
We follow drummer and a Morello, son of a Mafia boss, we see Cade expose a more vulnerable side to himself.
We find that Cade Morello is running from something that happened in the life but hasn’t looked back since.
Cade finds himself falling for the band’s lead guitarist’s little sister who has grown up right before his eyes who he thinks will freeze him out.
He has to prove his love for her to show her it’s legit. With every sense of his being, he knows it’s real and he’s in it for the long run. He’s down for the ride no matter where it takes him.
The problem with their love is they’re from two different worlds, two different countries and the world tells them it won’t work and it won’t make sense.
She’s a boss of her own: Keeping her business in check, pushing orders, and living her way on her own time. This is a world she embraces.
The difference with her and Cade is she’s not willing to lay down her guard while he’s putting it all on the table. She believes he’s too much to handle for her.
In this ride of a story, it’s exciting and unpredictable but worth the risk to delve into these character’s lives. Such a fun and interesting read. I couldn’t wait to get through the book just to review it. One of the best books I’ve read in a minute. I highly recommend it!

Wow what a good read. If you like stories with vampires this is definately one for you.

Piper has been hired as a house maid. When she arrives she is surprised to find her boss or bosses are six men. Not only that they are 6 of the most attractive sexually appealing men she has ever seen.

Piper starts work and everything goes well until one night she uncovers her bosses secret and then everything makes sense( the not seeing them during the day, red bottles of liquid in the fridge that she assumed was a fitness drink).

Piper is shocked but doesnt leave her job. She learns more about their lives and gets closer to some of the brothers. However her happy existance changes when at a party she meet Valentine and he takes a liking to her.

Even though Antoine said he told Valentine she wasnt for sale, he seems to have other ideas.

The book was left on a cliff edge ending. Will the brothers fight to keep her or will Valentine get his way. I cant wait to read the next book and find out.

Music Man
A Single Dad Rock Star
Romantic Comedy
(Romance in Rehoboth
Book 1)
By K.L. Montgomery
☆☆☆☆☆
What can I say about this book? It’s a full length Romantic Comedy with a twist of Rock Star. This book can be a standalone. Although I don’t think it will be for many people.

Jack loves his music. Sense he can follow his dream at the moment, he settles for the next best thing. Teaching Music! But let’s not forget that little cutie Mariana, Jack’s daughter. The two have a special bond, one of love and for Jack’s dedication.

Claire has the gumption to get it done. She is also strong in her conviction. If she decides on something, she follows through. Learning to play the piano. Is really where she wants to be. Feelings are shared and this story is off and running.

K.L. Montgomery is a fabulous writer! The Jack and Claire story is just one example. Her characters are just everyday people, making the best out of life. The women are strong and not whiny, the men are real people. I love this story and can’t wait to read the series. I have read many of K.L. Montgomery ‘ s books and find this series is becoming my “Can’t wait for the next one” series to go after.

A Moore Affair
Moore Family Saga
Book 4
By Michele Sims
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
This is the 4th book in the Moore Family. This is a full length novel. Not for those under 18, due to the adult theme.

This is the marriage of Bella and Miles (ARI) Moore. Set in Scotland was their wedding, Paris was the honeymoon that followed. There were highs and lows in the days, weeks and months to follow. Miles has quite a following, being the popular music mogul he is. Can Bella and Miles get through the turmoil that follows Miles? Will their marriage be stronger, as they learn to trust and communicate? Your turn to find out.

Michele Sims wrote this page turner. I felt like I was in Scotland watching this wedding develop and take place. Her description of the things going on, just puts you into this story. I fell in love with her characters, and the places they visited. But more importantly was the communication between the two. Let’s not forget the emotional feelings going on in this story. I have enjoyed following this series and hope for more to come.

This is book 6 is the Mountain Series. It follows Abby’s story. We have meet Abby in the other Mountain books but this one can be read as a standalone. It does have references to the previous books but its not a lot that means you cant follow the story without reading the previous books.

Abby has finally left home and has started callege live. She is learning to live as an adult and deal with things in an adult way. She falls in love with a woman called Mia.

Even though she knows her mother will accept her gf and her choice to be with a woman, her father isnt going to be as happy or supportive.

This follows Abby’s journey from living two seperate lives, acting as one person with her dad and his family and being her true self around her mother, to finally learning and embracing who she is and managing to get that across to her father.

Its an emotional story with loads of ups and downs but a great insight into what a teenager may have to face for them to truelly be the person they want to be.

This is the 2nd book in the series and what an adventure. Like the first book it is a multi-level story so you need to keep on the ball as the different stories happen and twist together.

There are 2 different treasure hunts happening both with different outcomes.

The reptilian humanoids are searching for something to make their new weapon work. And the 3 college students, Matt, Dan and Julie are set out to learn ancient skills all centred about unity and the belief anything is possible if you are a united front.

Matt is the Ancient One and his role in all this is to safe earth. Will he and his friends learn the skills they need in time or will the other treasure hunters reach their goal first.

Its a great adventure full of twists and turns. Really well written and gripping from the first page.
