If your looking for a good book to take to the beach or just get cozy in the house then,
Salt Love is a perfect steamy summer romantic comedy. The characters are well written and likeable and very relatable. I was definitely hooked from the start and loved it all. It checks all the boxes. Spicy, funny, secrets, full emotions, forgiveness, and second chances. I really hope we get more of this, maybe something with one of the fabulous side characters.

I’m really loving Marika Ray’s writing, she’s becoming another favorite author of mine. This book was just the summer read I’d been looking for. Love the characters and banter. Dec helps Kenna heal from all the bad luck she’s been through, even in the beginning when she was grumpy and fighting him off. Kennas aunt seems like she was a fun character as well, and was wise to “tie them together” for a year.. As if she knew they’d grow to love each other. I couldn’t put this book down, and I’m looking forward to more from this author.

Salt Love was such a fun, enjoyable read. Marika Ray’s writing is up there with Tessa Bailey, Megan Quinn, and Abby Jimenez. I loved Dec, Kenna, and the cast of quirky characters that live in Sunshine Key. It was laugh out loud funny in some places, serious, and spicy in others, but everything was well written, cohesive, and flowed so well. I would love to read more set in Sunshine Key with other characters, but it has definitely enticed me to check out Marika’s other novels. If you’re looking for a spicy, romantic comedy, perfect summer read definitely give this one a try.

An entertaining and engaging romantic comedy which kept me happily turning the pages. Kenna finds out that her husband’s been cheating on her. Then her boss gives her promotion to Kenna’s work nemesis, resulting in her threatening him and then being escorted from the building. She then learns that her Aunt in Florida has passed away, and with her life in such a mess she decides to fly to Sunshine Key to deal with her Aunt’s estate. Kenna learns that she will inherit her Aunt’s oceanfront house and half of the boat club, but only if she lives on the tiny key for a year. She meets her new neighbour the handsome but scowling Dec, who owns the other half of the boat club business. Kenna and Dec develop a love/hate relationship which becomes more love than hate as they share boat rides, sultry nights and gator encounters. However, Dec has secrets and despite her best efforts Kenna can’t get him to open up to her about his past. As secrets get revealed and old family wounds are exposed, Kenna must decide whether to stay or go when her year in Florida is up. This is an enjoyable second chance at love story with plenty of emotion, romance and laugh out loud moments. I was hooked from page one until the guaranteed HEA.

This is the first book I have read from this author and I’m hooked. This is the perfect summer read. I love a good rom com but this exceeded my expectations. I love it when the author makes the book from both characters point of view. I feel more connected with the story. You will fall in love with these characters right away. I could not not put this book until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will write next.

Kenna has the life that she always wanted. She has a husband and job that she loves. Kenna finds out that her husband has been cheating on her and her dream job is now going to a person she can’t stand. She has had enough so she walks out on her old life. Kenna is lost until she finds out that a family member passed away and now she has a place in Florida. She can start a new life. Kenna meets her very handsome neighbor and she feels something there. Will Kenna find her life that she has been waiting for or will the past come back to haunt her?

I could relate to her so much. This was a romcom that moved right up towards the top of my favorite list. The chemistry of these two had definite spark. The steam fogged my glasses up. The story was entertaining as I felt like a fly on the wall at times. I love alternating POV chapters. It makes it feel a little like an ongoing conversation. The premise of the story is totally realistic. The characters were believable and unique in their own ways. Perfect to the story. This is a romance that shouldn’t be missed. I so recommend this one.

I have devoured every book I have picked up by this author! The characters are real with messy lives and emotions and they are older, like in their 30s and 40s. Kenna learns that her husband has been cheating on her and her aunt passed away right before a big promotion meeting. The meeting doesn’t go well and she ends up threatening her boss. She ends up heading to Florida to meet with her aunt’s lawyer and also ends up meeting Dec. Dec has been living next door to Maeve, Kenna’s aunt, for 10 years and they have become close friends. Kenna is a hot mess and angry and Dec is sarcastic and rude, obviously they do not hit it off. Kenna and Dec learn that they have to run Maeve’s boat club for a year before selling. Without much happening in San Francisco she decides to stay and fix up her aunt’s house, learn how to run the boat club, and get to know herself in this new life. Dec is a fisherman and trying to live a quiet life. He is hiding a big secret that only a few close friends know. Of course he is also a protector and seems to keep helping Kenna. I loved the Florida setting and would really enjoy visiting a place like Sunshine Key or any of them really!

The perfect amount humor and romance. Kenna thought that her life had hit rock bottom, he husband is having an affair with someone Kenna is convinced works with her. The hits just seem to keep coming for Kenna and, she sets off to the small town of Sunshine Key, Florida to deal with her late aunt’s estate. It’s there that her life is turned totally upside down, when she comes face to face with a grumbly Dec Boggs her neighbor and new business partner. A great summer read, with just a little bit of everything.

Marika Ray’s Salt Love follows newly divorced Kenna as she moves to Sunshine Keys, Florida to handle her late aunt’s estate and meets her next-door neighbour with a big secret, Dec. Kenna starts off a bit judgemental and Dec seems like a sweetheart, then Dec seems a bit misogynistic and Kenna becomes really relatable, but eventually they start to sync and become much more likeable. The book was really well-written, including the ending, although I felt like the ending seemed too soon. My favourite character was Maeve, she seems like my kind of person. I recommend this book mainly because I found it inspiring. I feel like I really needed to read this at this point in my life. ‘An acknowledgement that the journey was better than the ending.’

This one was hard to put down! From the beginning of the book with Kenna in the board room meeting, the first few days of meeting Dec, I couldn’t help but laugh at some of those moments and banter. The way that Kenna transforms from a quiet pushover to regaining control and grabbing life by the horns and standing up for what she wants in life is inspiring. Marika Ray ranks up there like Emily Henry, Tessa Bailey and Katherine Center in this steamy rom com. She’s going to be a definite favorite to read if you like these other authors. I really hope there is another sequel to this book to see what happens. Maybe Harley and Liz this time??

The old woman knew what she was about when she made stipulations in her will. It just took Kenna a while to understand that. I mean it’s the last thing on your mind when you run to a place of solace when your entire world has crumbled before your eyes. Not to mention the grumpy neighbour she must endure.
Dec didn’t know what it was about her, but he could not deny the pull in her direction every time he saw her. Only his secrets and past are the things that could keep them a part.
Marika writes endearing characters that make you laugh. Falling in love with Kenna and Dec was so easy and the things they got up to at times that ended in disaster at times making this a fun, adventurous and sweet second chance RomCom.
It was great to see Kenna go from a broken-down girl who had lost her self esteem to a strong, sassy, capable woman. Watching Dec finally let go of his past and live again made my heart sing. But its not just these two there are a cast of others that are just as fun too.
Salt Love is the perfect blend of sexy, spicey, hotness and some time alone to enjoy it.

What do you do when you find out your husband’s cheating on you, your aunt just passed away in Florida, and your boss gave the promotion to your work nemesis, so you threaten him with bodily harm in the middle of a board meeting?
Well, after getting escorted out of the building by security, I fly straight to Sunshine Key to deal with my aunt’s estate.
There, I meet my new neighbor, a gorgeous, surly man with all the charm of a rusty anchor, but at least he’s easy on the eyes when he’s not scowling. My aunt leaves her boat club to the two of us. Fifty-fifty ownership despite the fact I know absolutely nothing about boats. Or Florida. The will declares I have to live on this tiny key one full year if I want to inherit the oceanfront house too.
As I reclaim who I am as a woman, as well as discover which pieces of my fractured life I want to glue back together, Dec Boggs starts to show a sensitive, protective side under that crusty exterior that has my battered heart beating again. But the man is hiding from his own past and not even a string of boat rides, gator encounters, and sultry nights below the palm trees can get him to open up. More secrets get revealed with each day I spend in Florida and old family wounds are exposed.
Should I abandon ship after the year is up? Or will this salty life in the Sunshine State become a salt love?

As soon as I saw this pop up, I new I had to read it. Sylvie Stewart is a great author and I was excited to see they collabed with a new to me author. I thought this was a great weekend read and I didn’t want to put it down. The two main characters are older than most of the MCs in books that I read and I loved that. They had a whirlwind meetup that ended badly. The feel good nice feeling turned into a long period of dislike. The banter between the two was fantastic and I enjoyed their story of finding each other again navigating their tricky relationship. I was rooting for them and was happy to follow them to their HEA.
I am looking forward to reading more by both of these authors and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good book to read!

Kaitlyn and Bennett met around a decade ago in an airport and lost contact, but now they are back in each others lives. Bennett was on the verge of renewing his contract when he was dropped by his agent. A friend calls in a favor to Kaitlyn when no agent was willing to represent Bennett. She’s at the top of her game in a field dominated by men. Sealing an epic deal for her newest client will ensure her the top spot. Aside from wanting to unalive him for dumb stuff that makes her job harder, these two are insanely attracted to one another. Of course dating is out of the question. Or is it? These two together were a rollercoaster of emotions at times but they were good together. Even though I haven’t read the first book in the series I plan on doing so in the near future.

I LOVED this book! What more could you ask for? A RomCom full of witty banter and relatable characters.

I was so excited when the book began with a meet-cute! Only for things to take a turn after a single interaction. Ten years pass and the pair is forced into a last resort situation that both Kaitlyn and Ben claim to both hate but neither want to end. The banter between the pair had me laughing out loud.

I love the authenticity of this book. It wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies, but neither is real life. Perceptions of people change and forced proximity forges new relationships.

If you’re looking for a quick read with a show burn and forbidden love, this one is for you.

I can’t wait to read more from these authors!

I love this series so much. I was so excited to see that this is a series because I really loved Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes. I really love this series because it’s about women in their 30’s-40’s going through life as single women and fighting for love. This book really drew me in because Kaitlyn with a “K” is a career woman and reality starts to change right in front of her eyes and VERY quickly. As a single career woman myself, I found it so fun to sit down every night and read a little bit more about how she handles her career, her heels, and her dating life. I think this book is a GREAT read for all ages, but especially single women in this age range. It gives me a little bit of hope that a Hockey player will come and sweep me off my feet. This was my first book by these authors, and it blew me away! After seeing the cute cover, I had a feeling I would pick it up. I love that they put the tropes up front because I knew I was in for a good read after seeing them. I won’t give anything away, but it was truly refreshing to find that this was not a typical sports romance book. Kaitlyn is a force to be reckoned with which had me hooked instantly. Banks had me flustered at first, but after awhile I found a soft spot for him. Don’t let the cover fool you, there are some spicy scenes in this book that will surprise you (in a good way). I loved their chemistry, their banter, and the forbidden romance of it all. I finished this in one day because I couldn’t get enough! If you are looking for a fun Rom-Com with humor, a strong female character, romance, and spice, then please grab this book.

Mood Swings and Hockey Flings by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart follows hockey agent Kaitlyn and Hockey superstar Banks as they went from an instant connection in an airport to becoming enemies and rivals. As they find a way to work together, that fire starts to come back. Will they skate away together or melt the ice?

I love the enemies to lovers trope and this one delivered. The chemistry between the two was palpable, but it was how well rounded and fun they were that really drew me in. The banter kept a smile on my face until the last page.

The authors did an amazing job at presenting the dilemmas the characters faced while still keeping the humor. Hot Flashes, mood Swings and love…oh my. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to continue the series.

I really enjoyed this from the standpoint of the characters are facing new life scenarios, they are older. It was refreshing not to have a prime twenty something but characters that appeal to another generation.
At times this book lost my attention briefly but there were also parts where I was all in and couldn’t put it down.

Kaitlyn with a K is good at what she does but second guesses herself and worries too much about what other people think. Don’t we all?!?!

Hot Shot or Ben or Banks depending on the day is a hockey star that seems to be up shits creek due to age but can he salvage his career with the help of the right agent?

Is it a coincidence that the lady he met in the airport is the women he needs ten years later?!?

Mood Swings and Hockey Flings (Hot Flash Hookups #2)Mood Swings and Hockey Flings by Marika Ray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kaitlyn is a sports agent in a man’s world of hockey, and has to be as badass as it sounds like she does to deal with the alpha males in the sport. She started in football under a highly misogynistic male boss, Ed, but put up with all the comments and BS associated with women in a men’s highly competitive sport because she knew she wanted to end up being an agent with her own company.

As she is rushing through the airport to meet up with her first hockey player who took a shot on her, she meets an insanely attractive man named Ben at the airport bar and they had a great day eating grilled cheese sandwiches and sitting next to one another on the flight. They both walked away with many secrets they didn’t share and many thoughts of one another into the following day – when Kaitlyn meets Banks on the ice as she meets the team of her new athlete. Things go from having great chemistry, a lot of fun and positive thoughts to quickly making enemies of one another. They spend the next decade absolutely devastating each other with the horrible burns they dish out when they aren’t totally ignoring and avoiding each other.

10 years later, Kaitlyn has 3 players on the team, Banks is the oldest player at 38 with bad habits that make him look like he doesn’t take his job seriously, contract negotiations in the very near future and a retiring agent who has dropped him. The retiring agent just so happens to be Ed, and Kaitlyn is offered the suggestion of picking up Banks so he can finish his career with a bang. In addition to making herself look like a goddess in the world of agents, she also would get to make Ed look bad, negotiate a ton of money for making Banks look great, and offer herself a challenge in the meantime. While it takes a touch of work and help from his best friend, Banks takes Kaitlyn up on her offer.

The 2 have incredible chemistry, incredible dislike for one another, a passion for hockey and an absolutely hilarious cast of characters that offer laugh out loud fun for this super quick read. I planned to read a bit at a time but I couldn’t put this book down and finished it within a day. Absolutely recommend. Fantastic fun, funny and steamy read.

Banks and Killer Kaitlyn are a power couple, except they are not a couple in that sense of the word. They are beautiful, funny, sexy and flawed and determined. However, time is ticking for them both. Banks is aging and his hockey career is in jeopardy and for Kaitlin, she is aging and her hopes of becoming a mother are slipping away as her eggs begin to become “seasoned”. Working together may get Banks the deal of a lifetime, but can they also make Kaitlin’s dreams come true.

As a hockey fan, the references to the game and the players’ positions were spot on. Being of the perimenopausal group, those symptoms are spot on as well!

So glad this is a series! Looking forward to reading more hockey stories!

This was my first hockey romance and I’m glad I jumped on the band wagon. This was a steamy, enemies to lovers, slow burn. With a meet cute in the beginning.

Kaitlyn assigns herself as Banks’ new agent to try and save his career, which is plummeting due to his age and other agents dropping him. They agree to work together to get back at his old agent, who Kaitlyn also has a connection to. Over ten years, there’s a lot of tension and built up grumpiness from both sides, but once Banks shows who he really is under his tough exterior and they stop trying to push each other away, they both end up falling. Great characters, great banter.

I was already a fan of Sylvie Stewart, so when I saw this come out I knew I had to grab a copy. She and Marika Ray did a fantastic job. Will definitely be reading the others in this series.

Mood Swings and Hockey Flings (Hot Flash Hookups Series) by Sylvie Stewart and Marika Ray – Review by Christie Mitchum

Mood Swings and Hockey Flings (Hot Flash Hookups)Mood Swings and Hockey Flings by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The first book in the series was a delightful read, and this one was even more enjoyable. I found myself completely immersed in the story, eagerly turning the pages to see what would happen next. It was a truly satisfying experience.

Banks and Kaitlyn met at the airport 10 years ago and shared a sweet, memorable flight together. Little did they know they would meet again, and a misunderstanding would color their relationship for the next decade. Gone was the sweetness and bitterness, and possibly hate replaced it. Now, all they do is snipe at one another.

Banks is the oldest player on his hockey team, and his reputation isn’t the greatest either. He has just been dropped by his agent and desperately needs another one before he is traded. It looks like his old enemy, Kaitlyn, holds his fate in her hands. If anyone can turn his reputation around and make him into “the golden boy,” it’s her. She also wants to stick it to Banks’s ex-agent as he is her old boss and always treats her differently because she is a woman. Can they put aside their differences for their common goal? What’s with the annoying attraction they are beginning to feel for each other?

I was deeply moved by Banks and Kaitlyn’s journey. They were a couple in the making, even if they were oblivious to it. The realization that their past misunderstanding had clouded their perceptions of each other was a poignant moment. Banks was not the immature ‘man child’ she had labeled him, and she was not the ‘ice queen’ he had believed her to be. Their gradual falling in love was a beautifully crafted slow burn that I couldn’t help but root for.

As I said, I’m a huge fan of this series This fabulous writing team keeps getting better! They created a great pair of main characters and a hilarious cast of secondary ones. I can’t wait to see what the next book holds.

Mood Swings and Hockey Flings (Hot Flash Hookups Series) by Sylvie Stewart and Marika Ray – Review by Kerry Carr

Mood Swings and Hockey Flings (Hot Flash Hookups #2)Mood Swings and Hockey Flings by Marika Ray
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 2 in the Hot Flash Hookups Series. I loved the first book and this one was just as good. This is a sports romcom with a enemies to lovers theme. What I love about these books is the authors writing of the characters. The banter between them had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. I also love how the female lead are of an older age and going through menopause and all the joys that women go through around that time. It really makes the characters feel human and relatable.

This is Banks and Kaitlyn’s story. When a chance meeting and a delay at an airport put Kaitlyn and Banks together there was no denying the chemistry and attraction between them. But with them going their seperate ways thats the end of their connection right?
So imagine Kaitlyn’s surprise when the hockey player she is representing turns out to play in the same team as Banks
Kaitlyn knows she needs to remain professional at all costs. And the animosity between them gradually grows.
Fast forward and Banks finds himself in need of a new agent. Kaitlyn is definitely the woman he needs to turn his career around but can they work together to achieve that or will the animosity that’s build up between them cause more issues?
As well as fighting her attraction to a guy she can not have Kaitlyn is also suffering with symptoms of perimenopuase. With all this going on does she even stand a chance of sorting this man-baby out? And what happens when temptation becomes to much will they give in to it?

This is book two of the series and I did read read book one but this can be read as a standalone. I love hockey so I knew I would like them howeber you dont even need to like it. These books have hockey, laughter, romance and conflict. Ben & Kaitlyn hit it off it at the airport but once they see each other on the ice , are they sure they can get along and nake it work.
