Master Descallia (Masters of the Consulate Book 1) by Sylvia Black – Review by Sarah King

Descallia: Dark Vampire Romance (Masters of the Consulate Book 1)Descallia: Dark Vampire Romance by Sylvia Black
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Humans, the Syndicates and Vampires have learned to exist in an uneasy balance.  However, the multiple disappearances of women in Las Vegas in a way that points to the Vampires threatens to topple that balance. The Consulate of the Vampires, the ruling party for the Vampires, made up of 12 pure bloods and an Overload decide they must step in.  Overlord Salvatore Descallia is invested in finding who is kidnapping humans while trying to frame his people.  In order to shadow the investigation, Descallia heads to Vegas.   The human’s police department want to place an undercover, Clairvoyant officer before the Vampires become aware of the situation.   When Descallia addresses Officer Lucianna Denaro, she decides to work with him to reach the same goal, find the women.  Unfortunately, things just do not go as planned.   This led Descallia to offer Luce a chance at a second life, as a vampire.  The sparks that fly between the two are intense from start to finish.  Descallia expects obedience and Lucianna is just as head strong.
The characters are well developed, have depth and a connection that neither was expecting. There is a BDSM theme throughout so for some that may be a trigger. I also like that there is a larger story being laid out throughout. Can not wait to see how the how story carries through to the next book in the series.

I love a great vampire book and this series continues to truly swoon me in! This is the 3rd book in this series and I can say I love them all but this is my favorite. Trentino ends up saving Angel’s life and has to turn her in order to do so. I also love the sizzling moments between Angel and Trentino and their chemistry that leave my heart racing. Vampires, intrigue, betrayal and steamy scenes all wrapped into a great book!! Highly recommended.

Great series! It ties in police detective work with vampires. The real world, in this case, is the human world we know, mixed in with vampire bars and a vampire overlord. If you like vampires, world building, police work, and romance, this series is for you.

3.25⭐️

When Trentino enters the home of the Mancino brothers to cover his people as they recover what was stolen from them. Unbeknownst to him, their sister wakes to check what is going on. Angel senses someone in the house but she’s not sure if actually someone or her dead grandmother trying to talk with her like always. Then a vampire traps her in a moment filled with fear but many something more. It only starts to become clear what that was when her home gets attacked, her brother killed, and this vampire enters finding her on the floor bleeding out. Though she’s grown to hate them, her life might just be saved thanks to one. Risking the needs of the community, Trentino will figure out why the Mancinos were attacked and how it connects the efforts being made to discredit and destroy the vampire community.

I actually found myself linking Angel a lot more than I anticipated. I think a lot had to do with the fact that I really struggled in the beginning because though these books are pretty decent and quick reads in the moment you’re reading them, I personally find it really hard to remember what happened. I found a lot of the time that I was struggling to remember who some of the main characters were and what their roles were within the vampire community. I will say that the author’s strongest skill lay in her romantic and smut scenes. With that being said, it took me a long time to realize that there was a larger overarching plot that would last several more books after what I was reading. Additionally, I find it frustrating that the main heroines continue to follow very similar paths of finding their mates and becoming vampires. On a positive though, I really liked how even though Angel wasn’t sure how much she wanted to be a vampire, she dedicated herself to figuring it out and had many great scenes with the other female characters. Overall, I agree with the one master’s comment at the end regarding his perspective on the rules being broken.

This is the second story in the “Masters of the Consulate” series. It is an interesting world this author has created. It is a paranormal read about Christian and Delilah. This is an interesting and intriguing story. great paranormal, vampire romance series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but it’ll make for much better reading and more enjoyment if the series is read in order as there is a background story running along in the background of the romance storyline. The ongoing storyline of the vampires and their struggles with others that is running through this series. The author has done a great job of creating a great storyline with many twists and turns that keep you entertained and not wanting to put the book down.

A brand-new world where humans, vampires and syndicates work along in the same world respecting each world. Lucianna is a cop with some interesting powers. Love this new take on vampires!! This is the 3rd book in the author’s series, however, it is the first one I am reading. I love that it is a series, but I felt you did not need to have read the first 2 to understand this book. It is one of those that while in a series, they are also stand alone because each story is about a different set of characters. The new take on the fact that vampires are actually the good guys who have been smeared through history. Everyone knows about all the different species, but humans hate the vampires due to horrible rumors being spread through the ages.

In this book, the vampire world is looking for a trader among their ranks. There are people stealing women and killing innocents to become the most powerful of beings. Trentino is one of the head vampires, Masters, trying to figure out what is going on, who is behind it all, and a way to prove they are not the enemy to the rest of the world. Through the process of searching for the trader, Trentino sires a special human named Angel. Angel is a medium and speaks to the dead, just like her deceased grandmother. Her family is part of a powerful mafia who has hated the vampire community their entire lives. However, one night after meeting Trentino, all that will change. She never feared him and always felt a strong pull or connection before she even knew what he was. The story is a progression of their relationship and how she fairs in his world. She becomes a part of a world she once hated to save her new race. One of the things I love about the book are the characters. The men are dominating, protecting, but respectful and open. The women are badass. While their mates try to protect them, they are also the answer to defeating the bad in the world. The women can fight, take care of themselves, but also respect the order of their world. It also didn’t hurt that the author knows how to write a sex scene – just enough to get you going!

This is a delicious, dark, paranormal romance. With vampires, shifters, witches, conspiracy, hidden agendas, an underworld society, politics, the supernatural, magic, danger, tension, intrigue, drama, emotion, fantastic world-building, twits, dramatic turns. This is a book that could be read as a standalone, but as there are interconnected details, as well as recurring characters that are recurring from the books before. I really recommend reading the other two books, so you know what has happened previously, as they contain information that I feel would help you to better appreciate this book, and the series as a whole.

My favorite book in the series so far and I couldn’t put it down! I love Angel with all her spunk and attitude. I laughed as I could see her drinking and dancing with her new friends much to the Masters’ dismay. Trentino is another hot Master bent on saving the vampire race from traitors as well as protecting his newfound mate. Not only is this one a page turner, but the surprise traitor will throw you for a loop! I look forward to seeing how the characters develop in their relationships both with their mates but also with their friends in the next book.

I have never read a book that started in the middle of the relationship. It was such a fresh and exciting perspective. We get to see how Christian and Delilah figure out how to deal with their love against all odds. They have a past, and we get a chance to watch them work through issues while dealing with vampire opposition and a battle for power between species. Another domineering and sexy vampire master, the book begins right where the first one left off and changes perspective. I’m glad I read the first book before starting this one, so I had more background of what was happening. Start with the first book and you won’t want to stop!

Master Descallia is domineering, sexy, and a shoulder full of responsibility. Meeting Officer Luce and watching their relationship develop had me eagerly turning pages. On top of which, they’re trying to save a group of human women and navigate a hostile relationship between vampire and human worlds. I wouldn’t want to wear the Master’s rings if I read where they went correctly, but it was holy hot to read and I’m totally ready to dive into Book 2 to see what else develops for the Consulate Masters.

Master TrentinoMaster Trentino by Sylvia Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is for those over 18 only due to the adult content within.

Master Trentino is a vampire and a part of the Consulate of Vampires, he rules his area in a fair and honourable way and is known for his strength and loyalty, so while on a mission to find someone, instead of the place being empty as he expects, the woman he finds there is more alluring to him than anyone before. Angel is one of a large family, but she can hold her own with her other siblings and can definitely fend for herself, she also has psychic powers which she uses to help others, however, one night she is surprised to find a man in her home whom she doesn’t know who gently accosts her and then lets her go before disappearing, but he doesn’t disappear from her life.

After doing his research into the woman and her family, Master Trentino has to go back for another look and maybe get to know her a bit more, but that plan goes out of the window when he finds her in a pool if blood at the foot of the stairs and not alone, there are other dead bodies there and another enemy of Trentino’s which he has no issues with dispatching for what they have done. Angel is coming down the stairs one minute and on the floor and struggling to breathe the next, she cannot understand what is happening, all she knows is that she is surrounded by darkness and being held by a man she doesn’t know.

As her life slips away, Trentino takes the matter into his own hands and decides to turn her, he cannot just let her die in this way before he has a chance to explore the connection which is undeniably there, so he does just that and then takes her back to his home to transition and then recover while he notifies the Consulate of what has happened. When Angel comes around, she has no idea where she is or what she has now become until Trentino explains it to her, but all her life she has been brought up to hate vampires and all they stand for, however, she cannot deny the attraction feels towards Trentino and how it increases everyday, meanwhile, the Consulate need to figure out how sensitive information has been leaked, who has been leaking it and why.

Will Trentino and the other Masters of the Consulate be able to figure out who is betraying them before their luck runs out as the rogue shifters, witches and the syndicate tighten the noose around them and will Angel be able to come to terms with her transition and make peace with her new circumstances, or will she turn away from Trentino and run back to her family? This is a paranormal romance with a dark twist which is full of secrets, lies, betrayal and romance, with an undercurrent of mystery throughout which will take you on a rollercoaster ride, full of ups and downs as the fight for their lives plays out.

Fun next installment in the engaging saga of the consulate

3rd novel in the series which should be read after books 1 and 2, as the series has an overarching storyline that we get bits of along the way. Here we continue to have a story that switches POV between the two main characters.I do enjoy that it is first person narrative and that we get more insight into their thoughts and actions this way.

Here we’re introduced to Mr. No first name Trentino and Angel. Angel ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time and he has to save her. This is sort of a love at first sight romance, but its not done too fast. I like that the pair continues getting to know one another after they’re paired. The sex scenes are more sensually done than graphic in their telling, which I enjoyed. There’s some spice, but not too much to draw the focus from what’s going on with the vampires and who’s sabotaging them.

We do get to see more of the characters from the previous books, and get caught up on how the couples are doing. I really enjoyed the ladies (Lucianna, Delilah, Embry, and Angel’s) interactions, them supporting one another and having fun together too. I really can’t wait to read a story from Embry’s POV (fingers crossed).

I enjoy this series, hence why I keep on reading them upon release, but I’m finding the same issues occurring. I previously mentioned my problem with them transporting vast distances, and my statement stands here. Why have the vampires sneaking around and trying to find a way in to a place when they just transported to that location in the first place?

Content warning for death, torture, light BDSM, talk of human trafficking and abduction.

Book three in this amazing Masters of Consulate series, what a read! This could be read as a standalone, but you get so much more reading them in order. You learn more about the consulate, their world, and their enemies. This is Master Trentino and Angel’s story. Angel is near death, the sister of his enemy. Will he save her? Angel was taught to fear the vampires, they were dangerous, but Trentino is so sexy.
This is another amazing vampire story, full of intrigue, romance, and makes you want to stay up late into the night to finish. I am loving this author!

I love how this author has created such an elaborate world that just pulls me in and makes me want to stay. This is Christian and Delilah’s story. Christian saves his love, from death, by turning her. Did that put her in more danger? Delilah is a very strong female character, which I am always a fan of.

Even though this is the third book in the series it’s the first book I have read in this series. The characters are well written and amazing strong willed with little quirks that make them feel real.

Master Trentino finds Angel the sister of their mortal enemy lying in a pool of human blood, and damn the consequences, takes matters into his own hands. He needs to turn Angel a psychic to save her life.

Angel has been taught to despise and fear the dark fanged dwellers of the underworld but there is just something about Trentino that just pulls her to him.

The masters need to move quickly and learn who has betrayed them or will it be too late? Can Angel overcome her demons and fight by Trentino’s side or fight against him? Can they overcome the betrayals and move forward?
This is a great book…

Very Impressed with this book! The last two were ok but this one the author knocked it out of the park! I love all the action and drama in the story. This one grabbed me from page one and I was hooked til the end.

In here Trentino is the Master but Angel is the star! Her character really grows as she is pulled from her old life and thrust into her new one. I really enjoyed all her time with the “girls” and how confident she becomes.

We get to see a lot of the other two Masters we have met in previous books. I like how they all hang out and help each other to further their kind. I love their fondness and protectiveness of their mates.

Overall I throughly enjoyed this story! Its the third in the series and to get full enjoyment and understanding I would suggest reading them in order. I eagerly look forward to the next!

Master Trentino is still trying to help locate the leak within the consulate but as going about his busy he comes across his enemies sister bleeding on the floor minutes away from death, he has two options save her and break his rules of the consulate or let her die. As Trentino is drawn to Angel he decides to save and turn her into a vampire.

Angel is confused and lost as she is now something she has been taught to hate through out of her life, how can she get her head around that she is now a vampire, but with the pull and drawn to Trentino can she keep her feelings in check and help uncover the traitor within the court of vampires, but can she live as a vampire.

This is the third book in this series and I think this is my favourite so far. Although this is a series you can read each book as a stand alone although the stories do interlink in some way it does not distract from each story. This story involves Trentino and Angel and I have to say from the first couple of paragraphs you can feel the undercurrent of this story.

I loved the way the story weaves through with a hint of mystery of trying to find who is trying to bring down the consulate and with the chemistry of Angel and Trentino this story is full of fireworks and passion.

I can wait to read the next instalment in this series.

The 3rd book in this series and I swear it’s better than the first two. In this book, we read about Trentino and Angel. When Trentino goes in search or Lazarrth, he finds that the syndicate has gotten to Lazareth first. It isn’t long before Tuscano shows up to assist in following where the syndicate goons are taking Lazareth. What will they find as they follow?
As with the other two books, there are great characters and you see friendships growing along as you are immersed in the story. It’s especially touching to see the women come together as friends.

Not only that the syndicate was attempting to make the humans believe that the vampires were the ones selling the women to the traffickers.
I really enjoyed this book. Christian and Delilah have great chemistry and each one is trying his or her best to accomplish something so the other doesn’t have to live with tough consequences.

Salvatore Descallia is not only the head of the Descallia Clan but also the overlord of the Masters (the vampire clans). The humans and vampires live in harmony as much as possible in this world. Salvatore’s job as the overlord is to make sure the vampire clans are staying out of trouble and at the same time keeping an eye on the syndicates to ensure they don’t cause trouble for the vampires.

From the beginning I was very intrigued by the concept of the book. Within the first few chapters, we meet Lucianna better known as Luce and learn of the attraction between Salvatore and Luce. I quickly got sucked into the story and finished the book within a day. I enjoyed learning about the characters and figuring out what their job or purpose is.
