This was a great 5 star read. My emotions were all over the place with this read. Grace is a hard worker trying to pay the bills and take care of her mother and sister. She ends up losing one of her jobs and she decides to move from underground fighting to pursue UFC fighting.
Will her choices be the right ones?
I really loved Grace, she was a very strong woman who would work and fight for anything. Grace’s story had so much in it, along with some great secondary characters. I loved them all and I can’t wait to read their stories (fingers crossed we will get them). The author does a great job with her writing, I was pulled right in and didn’t want to put it down until I was done. Amazing. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.
Grace is a fighter. She is fierce and strong and independent. The very best type of heroine in the best possible type of love story. This is a love story for the ages; though that is not the first thing you would think when you read it. It is not your typical love story, but it is nothing short of perfect.
Carsen Lane fills the pages with warmth and urgency. The imagery is palpable and the fight inside the characters is so relatable. The book not only follows pursuit of a dream, but makes it real and painstakingly detailed in every aspect toward reaching that goal. The feelings invoked are deep and vast. You can feel what Grace feels without useless internal chatter and timidity so often found in narratives.
This book takes you on a ride and casually surprises. I CANNOT wait to read more.

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending Book 1) by Nicole Bailey – Review by Amanda Haller-Doris This is the first book in what I hope to be a very long series. The series is a twist on Greek Mythology and the first book focuses on a new interpretation of the relationship between Apollo the Sun God and Hyacinth. It is written from the view point of 3 of the main characters in the story, Apollo, Hyacinth, and Epiphany. At the start of the book, Apollo is still part mortal and has not ascended to become a God. He lives in the mortal realm with his younger half-sister Temi. Apollo would prefer not to ascend and take his place as the sun god, but his father Zeus’s patience is waning. Zeus gives Apollo an ultimatum, ascend now or spend a year with Prince Hyacinth learning how to be a better prince. Since Apollo would rather stay mortal longer, he begrudgingly travels to Hyacinth’s kingdom with Temi. Hyacinth or Cyn, as he is called, would rather not have a spoiled half God underfoot, but if Zeus commands it, he must follow it. The two slowly begin to work together and get to know each other on a more personal level. Gradually the relationship moves from enemies to friends, into something more. While Apollo and Cyn are trying to figure things out together, we are also seeing the view point of Cyn’s younger sister Ephiany who has started spending more time with Temi. Epiphany is soon to be on the marriage market, but she would rather make her own destiny. She and Temi become close friends who encourage each other to step outside their comfort zones and see the world with a different perspective. The author uses modern language in the book which makes it enjoyable to follow. She writes in a way that it feels like she is seamlessly bringing ancient Greece into the modern world, while still capturing the feel of ancient times. The story definitely kept me engrossed until the last page. Her interpretation of the different Gods and how they interacted flowed well. The characters are all well developed and the storyline was tightly woven. She took a well-known story and created a whole new world for the characters to live in. I can’t wait to read the following books.

I knew A Long Kiss Goodbye has a paranormal aspect, but never did I expect the route it went. The author wrote an interesting story. A story I was sucked into, I had to keep reading once I started. Once I was done, I felt like the emotions I went through, I have a love/hate relationship for this book. Avery, an ordinary woman in her late 20s, ends up in an extraordinary situation. That’s tied to the murders happening in her Arizona home. She just doesn’t understand how. Someone attacked her, cut into her chest but she’s still alive. People nearby are suffering the same fate, but aren’t surviving. The question is, why? Luys is way more than he seems. He’s hiding something and Avery doesn’t like it. Now that she knows her neighbor she’s going to push him to reveal parts of his past. It won’t be easy for either person to understand but it needs to be said. Now being the prime suspect in the murder of someone in their complex, Luys needs to figure out his next steps. It’s a case of whodunnit, with a paranormal twist. Can Luys prove his innocence? Does he turn in the real culprit, or continue to protect her? Does Avery finally see who Luys truly is? All that and so many more questions will litter your mind while reading this book. A Long Kiss Goodbye is the second book in the Onyx & Mercury series by H.D. Thomson. Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Have I not discovered this brilliant author before now????? After reading this I have to admit that I have seriously been missing out on some stellar reading for some time…. But, on the other hand I am excited to find that there is a long list of other books to this author’s name for me to devour- so I can feel a massive book-binge is in order. Limbering up my one-click finger in preparation. This is a seriously good paranormal romance with a twisty, intense, mysterious and entirely suspenseful storyline. The author writes incredibly well, and it is apparent that she is quite a talented storyteller, skilfully crafting her story with palpable tension, edge of your seat danger, unexpected developments, simmering chemistry, and superb world-building. I was so hooked on the story that I couldn’t and wouldn’t put it down. It wasn’t until I had finished and went looking to see what else I could find from this author that I discovered that this is the second book in the series. So, I am setting off on Book #1 as soon as I complete this review. Being the second book in the series didn’t impact my reading of the story in any way… I never felt like I was missing any part of the storyline or any details. It has, however, made me extremely curious to discover what happened in Book #1. So excited to be embarking on a new love affair with this author- well, her books that is lol.. I am so looking forward to my book binge with H.D. Thomson. So happy to have finally discovered her work, as my first time has proved to be one of my favourite reads of the year, so far! This fast paced, steamy paranormal romance will keep you at the edge of your seat. This book was definitely a page turner, leaving you always wanting more. Toya did an amazing job writing this book. From the steamy dreams, to the hot hot hot romance scenes, to even the action and fighting scenes. The relationship building between Angelina and her men along with the new and old friendships, you were never left unfulfilled as the reader.
I gave 4 out of 5 stars for this book, because I felt that there could have been more detail in parts of the book. I felt, especially in the beginning, time was forgotten. The story just bounced around and what seemed like a day, was actually a couple of hours in the story or vice versa. With one bad thing that happened, in the end it was a majority of a feel good book. Overall, the story was a great quick read, with an even better ending. I really look forward to reading more from this author, and cannot wait to see what comes next.

What an interesting perspective on werewolves. I love everything about this book and thought the author did a great job of creating this spectacular original spin on popular folklore.
Joanie is an epidemiologist that seems to have quite the streak of bad luck. Her lab burns to the ground destroying her research on CSL and her boss effectively ends her career, kicking her while she’s down. Joanie also lost her grandfather and though they haven’t had contact in quite some time, she starts to feel a closeness to him as she remembers her childhood with him. The author really knows how to tug at your heart with these memories and I may have reached for a tissue a time or two.
There are multiple interesting characters throughout this book that have wonderful development. I tend to have a hard time focusing on numerous characters but the author did incredible! I am on my way to grab the second book right now, thank goodness it’s a series!

The Wolf’s Shadow: An Urban Fantasy Thriller is the first book in the Lycanthropy Files. This is a different take on the werewolf mythology, coming from a medical outlook. I enjoyed the story and the characters. The main character, Joanie Fisher, is intelligent and exciting. Even though she is a research scientist, I enjoyed how she still has doubts about what she is researching. I look forward to reading more in this series and seeing the path the characters take.

Oh this was such a fun book! Toby wants to be a good dog but The Cat next door just won’t let him. I read this book with my 10 year old and she absolutely loved and laughed so hard at the descriptions. It was very easy to visualize what was happening in the story. Highly recommend this book as a quick easy read aloud for families.

A fire, major discovery, things not being as they appear, secrets, death, disappearances, and werewolves whats not to love. The existence of werewolves, missing children are just some of the issues she faces. What will come of these new discoveries? Will she find the answers she seeks?
I genuinely enjoyed this book and cant wait to read the rest of the series. I did struggle a little with the characters at times if felt like too much info was given and at others you wished there was more. Overall though the characters and the world itself were well developed. I also loved that there was such a scientific/ medical view that was an angle you don’t see often but I enjoyed immensely.

Dr. Joanie Fisher is having quite the go in life, recently…which has led to the demise of her relationship and the loss of her job. However, a new venture has dropped into her lap in the form of her inheritance of her grandfather’s estate. A series of child abductions has Joanie’s best friend, Lonna, joining her as she moves in.
Joanie, who was researching CLS (Chronic Lycanthropy Syndrome) prior to her lab burning down, finds herself being sought out by locals to continue her research. Unfortunately, there are other who do not want it to continue. But, what happens when she finds out that her research has a much more personal stakes than she could have ever imagines? It becomes apparent that there are much more sinister things going on in the town of Crystal Springs than Joanie and Lonna could have imagined. Can they catch the culprit(s) in time? Or will they fall victim to the undercurrent of the town?
This was an interesting take on the typical shifter story. It focused more on the medical “why” and “how”, compared to other stories. I did find it a tad hard to connect to Joanie….not sure if it was her attitude of what…but I pushed through because the storyline was quite interesting. There were quite a few unanswered questions at the end…which hopefully will be answered in upcoming books.

I found this book fascinating. I loved the idea of approaching werewolves from a scientific standpoint. Dr Joanie Fisher is a research scientist who is studying CLS – Chronic Lycanthropy Syndrome. When she seems to have lost everything, from her job to her boyfriend, she discovers her grandfather has passed and left his estate to her. What she doesn’t know is that Wolfsburg Manor is a hot spot for people with CLS and that werewolves are real. She begins to find out more about the werewolves and how her research could possibly help them. The writing kept me interested as well as the mysteries in the story. It was an enjoyable read, and I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

This book was extremely well-written and kept me on the edge of my seat! I’m a sucker for strong female leads and this story’s main character definitely didn’t disappoint. An epidemiologist, focusing her research on curing lycanthropy, is brilliant and strong-willed. She’s also unwilling to bow to others who will stop at nothing to get her to stop her research. If you like urban fantasy and thrillers, this is definitely a must read!

This is an enjoyable and exciting urban fantasy novel, which kept me hooked from start to finish. Epidemiologist Joanie Fisher is having a hard time, her boss both fires her and ends their affair, her lab burns down, and then she discovers that the estate she’s inherited is infested with werewolves! Joanie was working on cutting edge research, looking into wolves physical changes and having been approached by a particularly handsome shifter, who begged her to continue her work, she discovers a sinister conspiracy. Working hard to then find a cure, Joanie puts her own life in danger, as a shadowy figure lurking in the background, will resort to murder in order to stop her developing a treatment for the wolfish disease. Joanie is definitely a strong female character who I felt engaged with throughout this fast paced story. The descriptive narrative brings the setting to life, and I felt immersed in Joanie’s world. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I love a good thriller and I LOVE a good werewolf novel. This story is an excellent combination of both. Although it took a little while for the story to pick up, I was intrigued by the plot line, characters, and the connection between Joana’s research and the mysterious town of Piney Mountain/Crystal Pines. I felt that the descriptions of people and places was just enough without giving too much away about each character. I liked that I wasn’t sure who I should trust and was kept guessing until the very end. Excellent story, I look forward to reading more from this author.

However, before she really starts to make a name for herself, a series of events happens to her. First, her workplace burns down, and she loses all of her research. Next, her married boyfriend/boss dumps her out of the blue. Then her grandfather disappears -suspected to be dead- and leaves her millions of dollars in inheritance, as well as a werewolf infested mansion!
Joanie decides to make the best of the situation and travels to Crystal Springs with her best friend, who is also going there to inquire about missing kids. Once they arrive, they realize that there is a nefarious plot going on in this small town. Can they find the true culprits and remain unscathed? Or will their lives also irrevocably change like those in the small town?
This was a different perspective on werewolves concerning how they came about and what all that entailed. I enjoyed the story and the thoughtfulness that went into creating this scientific history, per se, of lycanthropy. The characters were interesting to read about, but I had a hard time identifying with them. Overall, it was an enjoyable read and good way to launch a series.

Joanie has just lost her lab to a fire, her job because of the fire and her boyfriend (who happened to be her boss.) When she realizes she has inherited her grandfather’s estate, she moves in there. Once there, in the small town, Joanie notices a lot of strange things happening. For one, there are a lot of local children that have gone missing. For another, people are having strange reactions to catching CLS, a lycanthropy disease. Being a researcher, Joanie sets about trying to see what is going on with the disease while helping her friend, Lonna, try to figure out what has happened to the missing children. Opinion This is not your average paranormal story. I love to read author’s different interpretations on the paranormal. In this set, the existence of a disease is well known but people turning into werewolves from it is not. This interpretation definitely had me intrigued. The author does a great job of keeping parts of the story mysterious and keeping the reader interested. With new developments peppered throughout the story, this book is not one to miss.

This was a great 5 star read. True, where to start with True, I loved him. He originally met London when she was living in Denver, they had a great week but it never went further than that. London has now come to L.A., she is a very good P.I. and eventually gets a job with Red Cage and True is her boss. Things take a scary twist when London gets the attention of someone very dangerous.
Will London find who is after her? Will True and London give into their attraction?
Overall this was a great read. You could feel the attraction coming off the pages between these two, loved the teasing. I really enjoyed all of the characters and how great they all got along. Loved the bantering. We get twists and turns that added a great element to the story. My emotions were all over the place. If you’re looking for a great romance that will have you on the edge of your seat this is the book for you. I look forward to reading more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today.

This is the 3rd book in the Red Cage Series. This is the first book I have read and I was able to follow the story so it can be read as a standalone book. The author does an amazing job with the characters and the story. The plot is full of twists and turns that keeps the reader guessing and hooked. I love Lonny. She is a strong and determined woman who does a dangerous job. She never had time for love or romance until an encounter with a certain man that blows her mind. 7 nights they were together and he rocked her world but that is all it was. Just a fling. However Lonny can’t forget him. Now she is being hired to go undercover to capture some people who are trafficking woman. As if this wasn’t complicated enough her boss is none other than the man she can’t forget.
We are now taken on a rollercoaster of a journey as the need to work together to solve this crime. One false move and everything could go wrong and lead them into danger. But the attraction between them is so strong they may not be able to resist. Add to this the fact that both parties are hiding secrets and this is one story that will keep you hooked until the end.

I am weak for a steamy romance and The True Garza certainly packed a punch. I loved Lonny (London), and her straightforward I-do-things-my-way attitude. She doesn’t feel intimidated or inferior to any man and she is very successful at her job as a private investigator, even if she struggles at following orders. However, she will do practically anything for True Garza, who was once her week-long fling in Denver and now, a year later, is her boss when she takes a job at Red Cage in L.A. As things continually become more complicated and emotionally charged between them, their deeply imprinted flaws and events from hurtful pasts make it hard for them to be able to fully intertwine.
While there were times this story had me cringing and my eyes rolling, I loved this book and I honestly couldn’t put it down once I started. The story can be read as a standalone, but I will be going back and reading the first two books!

Wow this story had me completely drawn in and I definitely blocked out the outside world in my need to finish it in one sitting. The characters are so well written I tended to forget I was reading a story. They were so easy to connect with and they draw you into their story in a way that it’s hard to leave them when the end of the story comes but you love your time with them all the same. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking. I’d give it more stars if I could but five will have to do! Go one click it trust me you won’t regret it! Highly recommended!

This is the third book in this series which can be read as a standalone. This is my first book in this series which I look forward to reading the previous books as well. I enjoyed reading this story. I enjoyed how the author used details to bring the story to life and make it pop. I was pulled into the story from the start. They are creative, supportive and connectable. I enjoyed what they brought to the story. This is a fast paced story where these two people meet in a bar and are pulled together by seven steamy nights. Then he disappears only to pop back up as her new boss. What happens next with these characters you don’t want to miss. They have great growth throughout. They made the story entertaining to read and I really enjoyed it. This is a story that seems dark in places which just added to the story. I highly recommend this book.

4.6/5 stars This is such a good I try to the series! I couldn’t put it down. The different POVs are done so well that it’s not confusing at all. This book is also very well written. I was honestly very surprised at how much I liked it. It reminded me of 1950’s USA, but with the “unhiddens” instead. I’m very excited to read not only book two, but more by this author.

The author has written an interesting world of fantasy that has aspects we recognize but at the same time gives us differences. The characters are well written regarding their individual powers and are fairly easy to connect with. From the start we can feel the danger and hostility the characters face for being different from the rest of the human race. Many of the people with powers are finding it hard to stay safe. Those with powers are finding safe haven in Ireland at a school where they can learn more about their abilities and learn to work together. The ones who found sanctuary in Ireland must now work together to keep the school and others who helped them. I enjoyed reading this first book in the series and I’m looking forward to see how the team continues to work together.

Levi is just an grown up manchild. His dad calls him out and cuts off his funds. Time to get a job and be a man. After getting an STD, Levi has to depend on his law career, he goes into his dad’s firm. Miss Kindle James is his supervisor. It turns out she’s the hotty out who’s not into him and has no qualms telling him off. I loved this story. The chemistry is there. The sparks are so hot that you could start a fire. Dad is a little overbearing. His friends are awesome. All the hard-time giving and wives teasing him was so entertaining as I watched him grow up. Kindle was just as into him as he was for her. She just wasn’t giving up her career goals. The plot was well-developed. Levi matured as we got to watch him develop into a real man who realized what he wanted and went for it. Now, the crazy roommate, that was insane. I’d have run her over. Stalk much, she was nuts. Plot twist at the end was excellent, didn’t see that. This author writes really great romance. So realistic and feels like they could be twisted right from today’s love lines. The characters felt real. I loved Mom with dropping hints for a shopping buddy. I loved everything about this story. Well done! You must read this.

I enjoyed this suspenseful story. This is a new author for me which I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into the story from the start. The level of suspense kept growing throughout the story. The author’s use of details made the story realistic. I found the characters to be connectable as well as engaging. This is a fast paced story that is full of action. A story where two people find themselves in danger from drug cartels and corrupted law enforcement. You don’t want to miss what happens next. A great story that was hard to put down. It is a fun and entertaining story that I highly recommend. You don’t want to miss these twists and turns.
This series gives me such an emotional roller coaster ride, and I love them for it! Heart has finally woken from his coma, but with Crystal gone, he has become heartbroken. This resulted in him doing bad decisions and being given a 6 month suspension from Satan Devils to give him one last chance. He was going to give up and not take that chance, till he heard the words from Mark, and the rest you need to listen to! Lots of past history, drama, and karma, but so good to listen to!
