The bonds between grandparents are super special and Caspian is no exception! It’s his un-birthday and he gets not one, but two, special gifts!! The first is a hat that once belonged to his grandpa. The other is a very uniquely shaped stone. Caspian learns really quickly that when he’s wearing the hat, he can hear the thoughts of others in their own voices! The rock gives him great ideas and helps him to solve problems.

What I wouldn’t give for a hat like Caspian’s! That would make life interesting for sure!

This is a super cute book and I wish I had a little one to read it with. This book would be enjoyable for those early readers. The illustrations are very bright and vibrant. The story is one that children would be able to easily enjoy.

Bad boys and underground cage fights are just the beginning in this series. This is Juliet and Ten and Gages story. Juliet and Ten are interested in each other but being best friends they fear it could ruin their friendship. On the sideline, Ten needs money fast. When he discovers the underground fighting cages. When Gage finds Ten is over his head in the fighting, he comes to the rescue. Things at this point start changing and the story takes off. That is all I can tell you. You need to read the story to find out more. This story is fast paced and has some hot steamy romances going on. I love this author as well as her stories. She never disappoints and her characters don’t either. This romance is well written and will make you want to read more in this series.

This was a sweet, and wonderful children’s story that I got to be very much engaged in as I read! I found the story was beautiful wit h its illustrations as well as cute in how the story went and that the story flowed very nicely. Caspian was a wonderful character who was sweet, and very relatable I found. I enjoyed his adventure with the mind reading hat, and how he was able to listen in on conversations that he did! The story was wonderfully done, and was a perfectly written children’s book. Highly enjoyable and I highly recommend!

This is a great collection of stories by some great authors. The paranormal story I enjoyed reading was Witch Stich. This is a well written story that brings paranormal ride to a new level. This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed her writing skills as well as her attention to details. Her characters are connectable and creative. I enjoyed how they pulled me into the story from the start. They made the story engaging and I read their story in one sitting. They are supportive of each other and took me on a paranormal adventure that had me coming back for more. I really enjoyed this story and the realistic feel it has. You don’t want to miss the magic and the twists and turns that made this story entertaining to read. I highly recommend this book.

I read Witch Switch by Louisa Bacio in this anthology.
This book was intriguing. Love, mystery, revenge…toss in hidden powers, unknown siblings and losing yourself and having to refind yourself, you have the makings of a good tale. This is a novella but the author didn’t quite leave us hanging. It is the start of a series. HOORAY! I can’t wait to read more. This was like a bad fairytale that you can root for good to win. Rafe, Cheyenne, and Jupiter can kick butt with the best of them. I loved the fact that Cheyenne and Jupiter are strong and can basically do things on their own (together-sister power), there’s another sister later in the story. The characters have strong personalities. Meredith may have evil powers yet she’s pretty much a spoiled brat not getting her way. The plot had a really good flow. The story wasn’t choppy. My favorite part was the scene in the forest. The whole tone of the story kept you on the edge of your seat. It’s a very romantic tale with some spice scattered throughout so there’s a little of everything for everyone (if you love romance). I think you need to buy this book and check it out. It’s a new favorite for me.

This is a Viking tale that will have you following along wanting to know what happens on the next page. You follow along the travels of Thorfinns family as they irritate a witch who places a curse on the family. Thorfinn may be the only one who can break it. The action is there. It is a little wordy but that is because it’s based on Viking times and land area. I found it fascinating to follow. The people and the land sound so amazing, intriguing and mysterious. I follow everything Viking, whether on TV or book, and this is one of my new favorites.

Rowena and Vincenzo have a deep relationship even though Luka is in love with her. Rowena ends up heartbroken because of Luka’s incident with Vincenzo. I would love to say what comes next for Rowena.

Wow! This was a great story!!
It started off a bit slow but picks up about midway through. There is so many twists and turns that kept my interest. There were some evenings, I couldn’t put the book down because I had to know what was next.
It also intrigued me that the story is set in more recent times. Hearing Josie talk about the beginning stages of the pandemic and the fear for her family that came with it was relatable.

You can just feel the heartache, pain, danger, drama, suspense, and pleasure as these characters try to deal with their broken blemished past. Can you really fight your demons or are you just forever flawed.

Spencer Knox and Josie Baird are intriguing characters that have had to deal with a lot in life. Spencer, trying to escape his past, has recently moved to his new small town and has bought a mechanic shop. He just wants to blend in and forget his past. He’s not looking for romance after all he always says that he is able to give away his body but not his heart. However when he sees the stubborn, spirited, self-sufficient, and beautiful Josie he’s drawn to her. Spencer still tries to keep his distance though because he doesn’t want to mix anyone up with his dark past. His past however comes looking for him in the form of his friend, Gage who comes to town and almost immediately starts a flirtation with Josie. Wanting to protect her, Spencer joins them in a ménage à trois that definitely raises the heat. The more time they spend together Josie sees more hints of the man he used to be, which just peaks her interest that much more. I really liked the strong heroine who showed that you can have a kind heart and be tough as well. The writing style and plot both flowed nicely.

Being a good, kind hearted person is never easy, but it’s especially difficult if you’re an emergency room doctor that sees the tragic lives of teens forced into slave rings. Dr. Tessa Freeman is a bit of a workaholic that doesn’t take time for love, vacations, or anything other than caring for and helping her patients, so when she feels electricity with the mysterious man that walks into her ER she’s more than a little surprised. Unfortunately she misses her opportunity to find out more about him as she swoops in to save another young girl from the underground slave trade. Tessa knows that her saving people harbors risks, but those are ones she’s willing to take to help save these poor slaves. When Tessa is kidnapped, held, and beaten for helping one such girl escape, imagine her surprise when the mysterious man from ER shows up to rescue her. Get ready for some steamy action, suspenseful moments, flutters of feelings, pain (cage fights), and passion, because this wild ride just got started.

This book is about Juliet, Ten and Gage. Juliet and Ten are best friends who have an attraction between them that neither will act on for fear of hurting their friendship. Things are going okay until Ten needs money and tries underground cage fights. When Gage finds Ten is over his head in the fighting, he comes to the rescue, which sets off even more challenges. Feeling at fault Gage becomes the unlikely hero and tries to help Juliet and Ten by letting them move in with him. This was a fast paced read! It was a hard one to put down. It’s the third one in the series but just as much as the others, it is enjoyable! You could read it as a standalone but Gage is a character from each book and you will want to follow his story. There is lots of spice and action. Highly recommend giving this one a read!

I loved listening to this audio!   This is part of the Satan’s Devils MC series which if you haven’t listened to any stories in this series I highly suggest doing so.  It is a fast paced story that took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions.  I enjoyed how the narrator brought the story to life with the different tones of voice.  They made the story easy to listen to and had me coming back for more.  Heart has lost his wife, his soulmate and now he is on a road of destruction. He is a broken man. When the cop who is investigating his wife’s murder calls, things could change for him. Can a cop and a biker be friends? I highly recommend this audio.  You don’t want to miss what happens in this story.

This book is exciting and full of fantastical adventure. Chloe is up against time. Somehow, people in her town are turning up with scarpus, which is affecting her baby sister, Grace, also. Quintus, is an annoying fae come to bug her to come back to Faerie to save them from the mortals attacking. Her older sister, Elora, has been captured. What a predicament! What shall she do? The adventures abound for Chloe and those around her. She must make tough decisions. She is strong and courageous young woman. I love how she is not afraid to put Quintus in his place. She stands up for family. She tries to do what’s right. The other characters are well-developed. Grace’s personality fit her to a T. Her description just matched how she moved through the story. Quintus reminded me of a chauvenistic male. The plot had really good flow. For adventures flowing from the beginning, there was no real choppiness. Toss in a few twists and you really have a terrific story. I found this book fascinating and I’m looking forward to reading more.

They are engaging stories that have great characters. They are engaging and keep you coming back for more. Each story is unique in its own way and easy to read. I really enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed this suspenseful story. It is a story where one secret is big but someone else has a bigger secret. What they have in common is that they both could end up in death. What will happen when these two characters, Avery and Luys, team up? Someone is not who they say they are which makes things even more dangerous. This is a great story that is hard to put down. The characters pull you in from the beginning and keep me engaged to the end. They are strong, supportive towards each other and relatable. I really enjoyed what they brought to the story. They have great growth throughout the story which made the story easy to read. This is a story that is full of suspense and action. The twists and turns had me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what happened next, they had me coming back for more. This is a great story that I highly recommend. You don’t want to miss an enjoyable suspense story.

I was very unsure about this book at first, as it’s not something I would usually read. But I was pleasantly surprised by The Scent of Gardenias. It was a little lengthy compared to the books I’ve read lately and parts did not hold my attention well. Overall, however, Lorraine Haas delivers great character building and scene setting. I felt transported to the small town life of the early 1940s, where a young girl dreams and strives for a better life for herself than the one she was raised. The trials and tribulations that are experienced and related in this book seem very authentic and realistic, as it is based on the life of the author’s own mother. There were so many emotions in this book, from sadness and heartbreak, to fear and determination, to courage and love. The Scent of Gardenias is a well written story of the courageous journey of one woman to defy the odds to provide for her family. I can’t wait to read more by Lorraine Haas.

The Scent of Gardenias was very well written for the time period. It really felt like I was in the 40s. There were little details that really made it come to life. I loved the parts with the sticks of gum-There were a couple parts where Margaret talked about splitting sticks of gum in half, because it was a treat and to make it last. It really helped the readers understand their life, and the poverty she lived in. I felt for bad for Margaret. She was raised poor and wanted nothing more than to get away from that life and her controlling father. But she was young and naïve and too quick to “fall in love” – declaring so after just a couple times of meeting a boy/man. I was happy that she never gave up, and continued to work hard to raise her daughters. The characters were all well written and I enjoyed watching them all grow up throughout the book. I like how things were implied without outright saying them (references to certain people and their professions- I don’t want to ruin anything so keeping it very vague)
I love that it was loosely based on true events- if you read the part after the story the author describes how she based the story and characters on her mother and events she went through.

Maggie is truly an outsider of her day. Someone who wants more than what most women were allowed to dream of in her day. And she went for it, regardless of what people would think. Her struggles are inspiring as well as heart-wrenching. I couldn’t imagine having to face what she did, especially on my own. The author really brought these characters to life (probably with the help of those in her life who inspired them). While reading you really can picture yourself in that time, in those places and it seems so real. Beautiful story, I would love to see a second book come out to continue Maggie’s story.

This is book number six in this adorable children’s series about Caspian and his “UnBirthday” gift from his grandfather. The author has written another imaginative story that is perfect for kids of all ages. It also teaches kids that while it may be nice to hear other’s thoughts it is difficult job as well trying to help everyone. Caspian did a great job and learned a lesson that it’s not always rewarding to hear what others are thinking. The illustrations are so good, and I love how the colors pop off the page. They truly do go perfect with the story. I highly recommend you pick this book up for your kids.

The Mind-Reading Hat is story about another of Caspian’s unbirthday present from his grandpa and the adventure his gift leads him to experience. This year’s gift is a fedora hat that allows him to here others thoughts. This year he received a second gift from his mother as well, a rock that helps him with ideas. I read this with my kindergarten aged niece and nephew and they absolutely loved it. The story taught them how to keep trying and never give up. The Mind-Reading Hat is another hit with the kids, they can’t wait for the next!

This was a nice story that I could see using in the classroom. I really appreciated the simplicity of it but the way that it could encourage interesting discussions. I found the concept of the hat very interesting and loved the connection to his grandpa. The format of the illustrations was interesting and I think that children would enjoy it. Overall, this was a cute book.

I really enjoyed the storyline and illustrations in this easy to read childrens book. It was very colorful and after the first couple of pages, easy to follow. Can you imagine getting a unbirthday gift that allows you to hear people talking while wearing it? Caspian receives a gift from his Grandfather and it is completely unexpected, and his unbirthday journey takes an unexpected turn! I love how this author lets the reader use their own imagination when reading this book, I felt as if I was walking right next to Caspain throughout his entire journey, in which was an amazing and exciting one. The author did not miss a beat when telling this story and the illustrations were so cute and perfect on each page!

It’s Caspian’s Un-Birthday and yell he gets two presents this year. The first is a hat that lets him hear the thoughts of those around him, the second is a stone that helps him come up with ideas. Through a series of events Caspian finds both the good and bad about having a hat that lets you hear thoughts. He also figures out how to use both of his gifts to save a life! All in all this was a very cute short story that would entertain young readers.

I am so happy I picked up this book! There is a lot to take in throughout this book, however the author gives you the world and character building with such flow that its a pleasure to read. Ember and Gavyn are enjoyable complex main characters, and I truly enjoyed the depth the author gave to all the side characters too. I will definitely be keeping a eye out for future books from this author.
