Death and the Crone: Book Three of the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie
Four Stars

Death and the Crone is the third book in the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie. This book can be read as a stand alone, but you should really read this series in order because it is so entertaining from beginning to the end. I love that Margaret is an older woman and it’s really hard to decipher Elias and his motives. This story had me hooked from the beginning to the end. It is magnificently witty and such a different character builder this the age difference in the characters. Without giving away any spoilers I highly recommend this book and it is definitely worth the time reading. I can’t wait to see what Megan Mackie has in store for us.

Death and the Crone by Megan Mackie is the third book in the Lucky Devil series. This book can be read as a stand-alone book however the whole series is fantastic so I would recommend reading them all!
I have to admit, after reading the blurb for this book I was a little unsure as to whether or not I would like it. I’m not a huge fan of books where the women are older, I struggle to connect with them more. However I should have never doubted the work of Ms Mackie because she did a fantastic job wit this story. I really enjoyed reading about Margaret. The way her character was introduced really made me feel for her. It gave the emotional connection that I find is so often missing from older characters. And her character development throughout was so well done.
The storyline was overall ok, although not for me the best in this series. It felt a little more disconnected from the other books. However it was still a great read and one you should definitely try!

This was a departure for me from my normal in several ways. I feel like I should preface my review with the fact that this book is more a standalone addition to the Lucky Devil Series. There are few moments where we see hints of the previous books but it is all done in a way you could completely read this book on its own without confusion. With that said, I did enjoy the book.

Megan Mackie takes an age old story and gives it a completely new spin with Margaret and her beau. I enjoyed the newness and really that was what made the novel for me. I will be back to see what happens in the next novel, fingers crossed that it continues our other two novels because I am dying to dive back into their worlds.

This is the third book that I have read by this author and again I really enjoyed it. Although part of a series this book had more of a standalone feel than the others so I think it could be easily read without reading the first two books however I would highly recommend those also!
The authors writing is very good, she knows how to capture your interest straight away. The storyline was strong and the characters were interesting to read about. I liked that the story was a little different to what I was expecting; it’s always nice when a story isn’t predictable. It was nice to see characters from the previous two books crossover into this one; it did help tie the series together in my opinion. Margaret and Elias were very interesting characters and definitely not what I was expecting! I enjoyed following their story and all the twists and turns that came with it.
Another wonderful read from Ms Mackie and one that I highly recommend! I look forward to reading more from her again in the future!

Death and the Crone by Megan MacKie a five-star read that will turn you on your head. This is number three in the Lucky Devil series and it could be read as stand-alone, but I have read the series and loved them all. It’s the way the author turns what you think on its head and gives you a different side of the story. Margret is a great character and will make you read her great story, she is fresh and interesting and gives us great wit to her character. Elias was brilliantly written, the whole unsureness about who he was and what he was that unfolded like a flower as you read it. The settling was great, and you can smell the Chicago streets as you read the pages. This is a great series and one you will enjoy.

By Megan Mackie
Rated 4 stars

This is the third in the Lucky Devil Series but can be read as a stand alone. The flows very nicely and before I knew it I was caught up in the story. The characters are good. Margaret is a drug addict. She knows there is nothing else in life for her but that. Elias finds her and removes her. He gets her cleaned up to start or finish her life. They each get something they don’t expect out of this.

This is a good story. I kinda figured out the “what” was happening but not really the “why”. It was weird at first but then became intriguing. I needed to know how their story would end. The author did a good job of pulling me into the story until I couldn’t wait to find out what happened

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Death and the Crone by Megan Mackie is the third book in the Lucky Devils series. This is a book with a cool twist to the typical YA paranormal story. Margaret is an older, homeless woman who has been burned many times. She is invited to a strangers house and does not expect that she will live the night. The story is interesting and kept me reading to find out what would come of Margaret and the mysterious stranger. I have read the other books in the series but I believe this could be enjoyed without having read them first. The story is set in Chicago but with a paranormal twist. The idea of the familiar but unfamiliar all at once leads to an interesting background for this book and the others. The characters are also interesting and break some of the molds of the genre. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Death and the Crone is the third Book in the Lucky Devil Series and a book I couldn’t put down once I started reading . I do recommend reading the first two books in this series if you haven’t already as some of the characters cross over from the previous stories. This story is very well written and the characters are very well developed and I found them to be creative as well. Margaret is a woman who is homeless and doesn’t feel wanted and really has no hope. What happens when an attractive man invites her to his home? What could he possibly want with her? Who is he? What will her future hold? Read this book to find out what happens next. I recommend reading this book/series. I look forward to seeing what this Author has for us next.

Death and the Crone is Book 3 in The Lucky Devil Series. After reading the previous two books in the series I was more than happy to get the follow on book, but this one intrigued me even more as the storyline and the characters are not something that you would usually put together in a supernatural/fantasy read.
But nonetheless, this book was just as interesting, captivating and packed full to the brim. The storyline was easy to follow, the characters are well developed and it was an enjoyable book from start to finish.

This author definitely has a creative writing style that’s captivating and enjoyable in every way, and I continue to enjoy her reads every time. I highly recommend this read and look forward to what else is to come from this series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Death and the Crone: Book Three of the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and was so excited to see Elias get his story. The characters are well developed and the story idea was intriguing but for me, it did not hold the promise I expected it to be. I wanted more, something a little more explosive, a little more of the story reaching out and really gripping me and making me part of the story.

Margaret is a grumpy and grouchy old woman and I know she had a tough life but I could not fully engage with her. I did feel for her and the evil that had attached to her and created such a sad soul.

Elias going after a much older woman makes you wonder what is going on but as the story continues you understand what he has always seen in Margaret and what she becomes.

Even though I had higher expectations does not mean the story was not well written and a good story. I know that anyone that enjoys fantasy and a little mystic and magic
will enjoy it.

Death and the Crone: Book Three of the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie fantasy novel with a romantic undertone. Following the previous books in the Lucky Devil Series, the author weaves the reader in a different direction but with some of the mythical elements that have been seen in the other novels. Margaret is a feisty woman, yet she has flaws that shine. Yet, there is something about her character that calls to you in a way to see what is ahead for her. Elias is more than he seems and the mystery around him is intriguing and captivating. Each book in this series is well written with fabulous characters that are unique along with a story line that is unpredictable. Megan Mackie is creative in her writing which is a wonderful dynamic of a talented author.

This is my third book by this author as well as in this series. This one felt more like a stand alone set in Chicago although the appearance of some from the books that came before was a welcome addition.

I got kind of confused a few times which is something that normally happens when I read books from this genre which is not a chosen genre of mine. I had to read this one though as I had read the first two and my curiosity got the better of me. Although these books still have not won me over on the genre I did in fact enjoy the writing style of this author and absolutely would read more.

I did like that the female lead in this story was not your typical beautiful 25 year old although her views of herself and life were kind of sad at the beginning I found following her through this adventure was enjoyable, and like her I had the same views of Elias when the story started, wasn’t exactly sure what he was all about.

I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys these types of books and I highly recommend this author for anyone that just enjoys quality writing.

This is the third book in this series, I highly recommend reading the previous books as some of the characters carry through from story to story. Again, this author has created a well written, creative story that will keep you reading until the end. Margaret is a 60 year old who thinks she has nothing to live for until Elias picks her up off the street. Could there be more to him than meets the eye? As pasts and demons come together escape may not be possible. I highly recommend this book.

By: Megan Mackie
5 out of 5 stars

The story Death and the Crone (The Lucky Devil Series Book 3) by Megan Mackie is a wonderful fantasy book that I enjoyed reading. It draws you in right from the start and I found myself getting lost in the story. I enjoyed reading about Margaret and the handsome stranger that she meets. Margaret is a woman who I found to not have a lot of hope. She is homeless and feels unwanted. She is very suspicious when an attractive stranger invites her to his home. Who is this stranger? What does he want with Margaret? I found the stranger is someone who seems to care about Margaret. He is very mysterious. What does the future hold for Margaret? Read this book to find out. This story is one that once you start will not let you go until you have read the final page. Mystery and questions abound. There are other characters that are introduced and interact with Margaret and the stranger. The story is emotional at times. There are some moments that are sad and others that speak to your heart. Highly recommended reading.

Why should the sexy immortal guy always go for the sixteen-year-old?

Margaret has given up on life. In her late sixties, homeless and unwanted by society, it seemed a logical thing to go with this rich, handsome stranger back to his expensive apartment. Sure, it probably would mean her death, but what did she have to lose anyway? But instead of finding her death, Margaret learns that nothing in her savior’s world is what it seems, including herself.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Megan Mackie’s The Finder of the Lucky Devil is the first in the Lucky Devil series. This science fiction/fantasy novel has a little bit of everything mixed within in: suspense, drama, fantasy/science fiction, heartbreak, strife and more. I didn’t initially plan to read this story, but once I began, I was engrossed within the book. The author has created multi-faceted characters with hypnotizing sequences, action and addictive suspense. Rune’s the lead character is this story and she was so well written. Let’s not forget the Lucky Devil, so imaginative, creative and ingenious. This story was done correctly and is definitely one you should take a chance on.

The Saint of Liars (Lucky Devil #2)The Saint of Liars by Megan Mackie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Saint of Liars by Megan Mackie is the second book in The Lucky Devil Series a picks  up two months after the last book left off. I am loving this paranormal thriller urban  fantasy series. I was hungry to read this book after finishing the first and sat and  gobbled it up in one day. There was no way I could put it down as there is so much  going on I had to know where it was going. There is magic and magical creatures that  are mystical. There is drama and action at every turn, adventure and danger that will  have you holding your breathe, suspense and intrigue caught up in the twist. Searching  for the truth between the secrets and lies is paramount as we traverse through different  realms, different worlds that Megan has cleverly woven. Rune and Saint Benedict really  make the story pop and their complicated relationship is one I hope continues to  evolve. The only thing I found a little confusing was that the story was told in different  POV’s and there was no indication it was so until you read and reread it a couple of  times but once you knew what to expect it was ok.     I hope to see a third book to this series as I feel there is so much more to be told and  enjoy.

The Finder of The Lucky Devil by Megan Mackie is a surprise and exciting read and is a  paranormal thriller, urban fantasy at its best. The Saint of Liars (Lucky Devil Series Book #2) by Megan Mackie – Review by Angela Hayes

The Saint of Liars (Lucky Devil #2)The Saint of Liars by Megan Mackie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Saint of Liars is the second book in The Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie. I am absolutely loving this brilliant series! After falling in love with the first book, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this second instalment. I dove right in and devoured it in a day. It is definitely every bit as good as the first book, and there is no way that I could pick a favourite out of the two. The overarching storyline is spellbinding and full of intricate details and incredible world building. This is an urban fantasy with cyberpunk/neon-dystopia and paranormal elements. There is magic, action adventure, suspense, some mystery, drama, tension, chemistry, intrigue, danger, secrets, different realms….as well as a slew of mystical and mythical creatures.
We are back with Rune Leveau at the Luck Devil Bar. We Met Rune in Book one when she had inherited the bar from her Aunt who had recently passed away. There is a lot more to Rune than meets the eye, even she isn’t fully aware of what she is capable of. She had traumatic past event that had forced her into changing her identity and keeping a low profile. But when a mysterious and sexy stranger turns up at the bar, her past catches up with her and her adventure begins. Saint Benedict is a corporate spy who is on the hunt for a programmer and some missing files. Little does he know that Rune has a much closer connection to the case than he could ever imagine. Circumstances throw these two together where they needed to work together to figure everything out, all the while trying to stay one step ahead of the sinister forces hell bent of getting their hands on the information first. This puts them in impossibly difficult and dangerous situations that will test them both- and put her life, and the fate of the Lucky Devil Bar, on the line.
This story picks up two months after the events in book one. Rune is still coming to grips with everything that happened and hasn’t seen or heard from Saint Benedict since her revelation. But when assassins target her, Saint Benedict turns up and another new adventure begins- as they try stay out of the clutches of their evil foe, elude the assassins, and continue their search for the missing Masterson Files. Which results in some incredible, action paced reading.
Ms. Mackie has delivered a rich, vibrant and vividly detailed story set in a cleverly constructed and interesting world. This is world building on a masterful level. The characters are truly brilliant- so well crafted and fully developed. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, but the story is so well written that I didn’t have any trouble keeping up. I loved how the characters grow and evolve as the story progresses. One of the better things to come out of the whole experience for Rune was that she ‘found’ herself and continues to discover new facets about herself and about her ‘abilities’. I couldn’t help but think how much of Tatiana’s story mirrored Runes. I love the chemistry between Rune and Saint Benedict, I really hope something comes from that. I have been guessing as to how their story will play out and I can’t wait to find out if I am right, or wrong. The only thing I felt was not as on point as the first book, and became a little confusing at times, was when one characters POV flowed right into another characters POV, without any lead in. But this minor issue didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.
The story twists and turns, with lots of surprises and unexpected developments that had me on the edge of my seat in expectation. I really can’t wait to continue this story/series…. I sooooo hope there is a book three!!!!!!!!
I can’t recommend this story and author highly enough. You really should read it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!!!

Thank you, Ms. Mackie!

The Finder of the Lucky Devil is the first book in the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie. What a great find this book has turned out to be! WOW! I certainly wasn’t expecting that. This is an exceptionally good urban fantasy/cyberpunk/neon-dystopia story with paranormal elements, magic, action and a slew of mystical and mythical creatures.
I am not even going to try to give you a run down of the story, as the blurb does a far better job than I ever could- plus this is a book you really don’t want any spoilers to. Ms. Mackie has delivered a rich, vibrant and vividly detailed story set in a cleverly constructed and interesting world, and the story is quite enthralling- which is testament to Ms. Mackie’s superb writing and world building skills.
There is so much happening in this story which hooked me right from the get-go. It’s got a real noir feel to it, and lots of neon-dystopia and cyberpunk elements, too. The story twists and turns, with lots of surprises and unexpected developments that had me reading long into the night just so I could find out what happens.
I can’t recommend this story and author highly enough. I have already pre-ordered her next book. Can’t wait!
Kudos!

Thank you, Ms. Mackie!
