Blindsided by T. Christensen – Review by Melissa Collins

Blindsided: A Contemporary Sports RomanceBlindsided: A Contemporary Sports Romance by T. Christensen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After the betrayal this book had my heart racing! I almost love/hate books that have the central character taunted for being themselves, literally boils my blood. With that being said, this book had me immersed in the story.
The only issues I had with the story are 1. The climax was not in middle but at the end. Although it did have a couple of pages of a resolution and a nice epilogue I feel there needed to a little more resolution. 2. There was a lot of unnecessary filler pages. Now without adding spoilers there was plenty of character building but it was almost too much for this type of story. 3. The cover – it really deflects the energy this book gives. The two cover “characters” make it seem this book is set in the 80’s with 2 people in their late 20s and that’s not the story at all. 4. Yes, there is a theme of sports, since the two main characters enjoy football, however, I don’t think this makes it a sports story. This may deflect readers from the core themes of the story which is — betrayal, childhood friendship, and bullying.

Other than the issues I’ve described it really is worth a read!

I really enjoyed stories that are second coming of age and this was one of them. The main character has to start all over and decides to seek solace in a new state but instead she finds a new adventure.

I had a difficult time getting into the story because I was not used to the style but as you read there is a lot of depth and character building. I enjoy historical fiction and it definitely took you back to the 17th century.

This was a different fantasy book that I thought was going to be hard to read. Im more of a historical fiction or paranormal romance but this was a new genre for me. However, I was hooked after the first page and I’d love to read the rest of the series.

I’ve drifted away from YAs because the teenage drama isn’t relatable for me. Even when I was a teen it was still hard to relate to because I always thought the characters were just immature. But Alena is a well developed mature character that I can actually empathize. The story takes paranormal to a different place with the main character being a hybrid witch/vamp. Very fun read and can’t wait to read the 2nd book.

I really felt connected with the main character, Mercy. As a person with a Hispanic heritage but no real foundation with my Mexican background I could relate so much. I know the story of La Llorrona, but I like how the perspective from Mercy takes a different approach on the story. I have a hard time getting scared reading books but this was a gripping story!

So I picked up this randomly as a new read. I read it was a remake of Cinderella bit missed the bit about it being “dark” and lgbtq friendly. I thought I misread when the story mentioned the prince’s husband. I thought it was a misprint. Then I got to the first steam scene! It was very intense and but yet so passionate. I could see the love the prince and his hubby had for each other. THIS book with NOT disappoint!

Zoe & Damien reunite in the most unexpected way in a strip club and with a misunderstanding turns into a fake relationship neither of them wants to fess up to their families.

The opening of the story is so spicy that I literally could not wait for the first :::seggs::: scene and it did not disappoint. Actually, the build-up was palatable that this book was definitely a page-turner. And the end was a sweet twist to the entire story development. Can not wait for the next book!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was blown away by how intense I felt throughout the entire book. The main characters are really difficult to pinpoint until the climax of the story. Even then the end still leaves you feeling like the movie “Shutter Island” before Leonard DiCaprio’s character realizes he is crazy. I will say the character histories, for me, needed a little more development especially the main character. Overall, a good mystery YA and unique in nature. Never read anything like this!
