Helm of Awe (Anchoress Series Book 3) by D.L. Armillei – Review by Melissa Saxton

Helm of Awe (Anchoress Series #3)Helm of Awe by D.L. Armillei
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Please…. You must read the first Two books to truly understand what’s at stake, who these characters are and why they are important!

We pick back up in Van’s senior year in a very Hunger games sorta style challenge that Van struggles with when she again loses control of her temper and it hurts her again leading her to again believe locking down her emotions is the way to go. Can she learn?

The 3rd book wouldn’t be complete without another time crunch mission, this one to Prince Ferfox (Ie Mr off limits) home… but everything goes to shambles and the clock is ticking.

Can Van embrace her feelings , come to terms with who she might love and fully accept who she is in time?

Must read to find out. I’m sorta sad this Journey is over I’m certainly going to miss Van’s tenacity and angst!

Daire’s Devils (Daire’s Devils Series Book 1) by Danielle Ackley-McPhail – Review by Melissa Saxton

Daire's DevilsDaire’s Devils by Danielle Ackley-McPhail
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jump into an action packed high stakes military Sci fi adventure!

this is a well done military Sci fi that starts out with Kat a MC who thinks she’s been dispatched to a boring assignment but it turns into anything but. This multi POV military Sci fi brings so much camaraderie, sarcasm, quick humor and strong attention to detail that you feel immersed in these characters adventure and its hard not to like any of them.

I did feel like the action was a tiny bit rushed so I had to slow down my typical reading style to make sure I got all of the well built details but it is worth it as you can easily miss important bits it you aren’t paying attention.

this adventure is left open with hopefully more story to come as you’ll be invested in the outcome of the story at the end!

The leaders wife, now a widow has a daughter who seems to have her favorite to take over, but when the daughter turns up murdered so many questions ensue. Who killed her, and why? is it to influence the selection of the leader? is the mother involved, is it completely unrelated?

this story is a great historical crime novel which will both let you learn of culture, political intrigue and hierarchy but also have you lost in this story desperate to find out what actually happened.

Apocalypse Thoughts (The Pox Series Book 5) by Kendra Griffin – Review by Melissa Saxton

Apocalypse ThoughtsApocalypse Thoughts by Kendra Griffin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can’t say enough about this book. Kella, the main character is a snarky, brutally honest girl who we hear all of her inner thoughts and feelings and internal monologs throughout this story and it truly is what makes this story the masterpiece that it is.

Her fierce protection of Huck, her brother who is unique in his world views is an added conflict while they try to traverse the Appalachian trail with something that might just save the world from a virus gone awry turning humans into virus spreaders in one bite.

in our current covid world this story is compelling and the cliffhanger you are left on is a powerful one making you want so much more. you won’t be able to put this one down!.

Claire witnessed her mother’s death at the age of 5. her mother was a medicine woman which Claire Inherits but rejected it and clings to being a natural healer. but increasing visions and obvious medicine woman supernatural happenings are increasing with her everyday including violent dreams and visions.

Claire finds herself back in the community where it all happened as the director of psychiatric care. however all is not what it seems

the clinic is funded by dirty money extorted from wealthy religious zealots who are run much like a cult by the evil arch bishop…. the arch bishop who does not like the power that Claire has simmering just under the surface.

Claire starts asking questions when tragedy strikes and you dive head long into good versus evil struggle veiled in religion.shes threatened, stalked and it gets worse but that would be a spoiler so I’ll let you find out!

this was a good book. I wished the ending had as much care as the character building did in the beginning it felt a little rushed but overall this book was a great look into Indian folklore and religious structure and is worth the read

Family secrets, traditions and duty clash with the “regular world” when Austin a TV personality meets Ember a small town girl (so she seems) with a talent for cooking but no one to appreciate it.

there is so much angst in Embers story trying to decide what’s best for her and her family and her secrets… not only that you think you know her secrets but oh boy SUPRISE! THERE’S MORE

This was a wonderful Paranormal Romance and well built I look forward to the next one!
