Emissary (Star-Crossed Celestials Duet) Can be read as a standalone but if you read this one I would recommend you definitely read Watcher by this author as this story is also a Prequel to that one. This is the second time picking up a book by author A. L. Morrow and again knocked it out of the park. She wrote another tantalizing story. It’s also another m/m story. With some steamy bits between Kai and Byron. After reading Watcher I was interested in seeing what else the author had in-store and I’m glad I picked it up 😊 I’ll be on the lookout for the sequel to the first book.

The Silent Road by S.N. McKibben is a long-haul trucker MM romance with plenty of emotion, complicated family dynamics, anger, angst, a sexual awakening/discovery of sorts, a quest for redemption, and drama it had a bit of a Big Rig “Brokeback Mountain” feel to it all.
The characters are complex with their own personalities, quirks, and flaws. I found it hard to connect with them, especially Dan- which made it hard to invest in them or the story. We ‘hear’ the story from Dan’s POV, which I think added to my frustration because I didn’t really ‘like’ him much, and that caused me more discontent. I think if we got to see the story from another/other perspectives, then that would have given the story an added element interest and added much more depth, balance, and ‘texture’ (for me).
I don’t know a lot about long-haul trucking, so that part of the story was definitely interesting. Also, the difficult family dynamics and the quest for redemption added extra angst and emotion to the story, as well as the complications that came with the sexual awakening/feelings that develop/arise along the way.

Happy Reading…

Thank you, S.N. McKibben

The Silent Road is the first book I have read this author’s work and I enjoyed her writing style. The story is well written and interesting. It is an MM romance tale that is very emotive with a lot of anger and tension, angst and frustration and more.
I wish that this one was told in multiple POV to get the other perspective besides just Dan’s. It would have had a lot more impact if the story was told in multiple POV. I really liked Jake but Dan left a lot to be desired it took the whole book to redeem himself if only a little.
My brother does long haul driving, the long hours, the isolation and tiredness just to name a few so I can understand the effects it has on people which made it easier to understand the MC’s position a bit better.
It had it all and lost it all. He needs to redeem himself to those he has wronged. An unexpected turn of events is now leading him towards something he never thought he would want. He is unaccustomed to these feelings.
I hope there is more to this story as I felt there is something more for them it felt a bit unfinished for them.

This book really caught my attention from the minute I read the blurb and I just knew this was a book was going to have to read. I wasn’t disappointed either. The characters in this book were fantastic. Their connection felt so real and relatable. I wanted to know more about them and watch how their relationship progressed.
And for me, it wasn’t just about the characters in this book. The storyline was just as strong and engaging. Although it was a prequel I thought this author did a great job at tying everything together. This author is one that I always really enjoy and this book is no exception. I am already looking forward to whatever comes next.

This book is so good. It is a very in depth look at what it is like to live with a deep secret and what happens when your secret comes to light. This story is filled with amazing characters with stories that definitely tug at your heart strings. It has some steam but that is not the focus of the story rather the focus is at finding who you really are, who you can trust and who and what really matters. This book is phenomenal with characters I truly loved. I definitely recommend this book!

This story has it all. Romance, family life, fights, self awareness and a MM relationship. I love a good truckers story! This one however took me into a place I had not read too much about. Dan has had his world rocked, when an officer pulls him over. With no license he gets himself on a different road. But he will do whatever it takes to keep his promise to his daughter. Even drive with another driver until he can get his California drivers license. He is short of money for his daughter’s college and driving with another driver could get him what he needs. Jake is his probation rider, and a complete rule follower. No speeding, nothing to ruin his perfect driving record. He also is homosexual and Dan is not comfortable driving with him. So with no spoilers you will need to read this story. The author is new to me. Her writing is clear and fast paced. This story kept me reading and the characters are easy to fall for. And the relationship between these two men is quite informative. I look forward to reading more from this author.

First off, I want to say that it was refreshing to read a novel based in the trucking world. I could totally relate to the story. Being a trucker’s wife can suck, but reading about the feelings of everyone on the road was insightful, even being a fiction book. Dan is dealing with a lot. Getting found out for not having a license, having dyslexia; and trying to help his daughter. Toss in Jake and the feelings he develops and the antagonists Troy and Steve…. This book was remarkable. As I sad, the author wrote almost as if they had experienced some of it. Totally realistic story. My emotions were all over the place with this story. Two people trying to deal with hard feelings and baggage. All they want to do is live in peace. You have to read this story, it will touch you. It is M/M, not my usual genre but the story could be anything and it still touches human motion. The ending of the book got me right in the feelers. This is a new author for me. I hope to read more.

This book was very enjoyable. Not only were there steamy scenes but really raw and heartbreaking moments. I both loved and hated that this story shows what this gay man goes through for simply being himself. Dan stands up for Jake even though he is confused about his own feelings and is very upset that someone would have to go through that. I really enjoyed watching Dan realize his own feelings and tell Jake how he really feels, he may not be able to promise forever, but he can live in the right now. It was also nice to get a small glimpse into the day of a trucker, I like how this was all happening within a weeks time so it just felt current. Wonderful MM romance.

This was my first book with a male relationship with sexual scenes. I’m not sure it is something I’d go out of my way to read a whole genre of but definitely thinks everyone should try a new book at least once, you never know what you may be into. The story itself had everything you look for in a book; love, family, fights, and real world issues. It was well written and had the right amount of detail. Dan is trying to get pay for his daughter’s college when an annoyed cop pulls him over causing a chain of events to occur. Now he is stuck with a homosexual riding partner so he can get his CDLs. Will Dan learn new things about himself? Will his daughter’s college be paid for? Will Dan find love in the place he never knew existed?

I enjoyed this book. It was an interesting read for me. The author does an amazing job of allowing the reader into Dan’s head and you really get to understand all the confusing feelings and emotions he goes through as he discovers his feelings towards Jake are moving to something deeper than just work mates. Dan is a hard character to like at first with his thoughts and feelings towards Jake being very vocal and not in a positive way. Dan is hard work and sometimes hard to like. Jake on the other hand is a caring soul. He embraces his sexuality and isn’t ashamed of it.
As they journey together they learn more about each other and circumstances bring them closer together than either of them thought possible. Will Jake turn out to be the missing piece in Dan’s life without him even realising he was looking in the wrong place all along?
This book is beautiful to read and see the characters growth through out really made this book a great captivating read

Marriage, parenting, and making ends meet is a long road to haul─and I’ve screwed it all up.  My ex thinks I’m a deadbeat. My daughter has lost all faith in me.  As a long-haul truck driver, I haven’t been there for either of them. Now that I’ve been caught driving my rig without a license it proves them right.

Since I’m on probation, I’ve been forced to take a co-driver on the road with me and prove to him that I can safely pass my commercial license, even though I’ve been doing this for a decade.

This is my last shot to continue with my company and prove myself to my broken family. I’ve missed a lot but I’m going to make it up to my daughter. I’m not going to blow it.  Not this time. I’m going to get the money my daughter needs. There’s a financial bonus in my future if I can talk Jake, my co-driver and probationary instructor, into hustling his laidback, rule-following ass into finishing the job early.

As Jake and I travel together, the long drive and miles ahead of us bring us closer than I’m comfortable with─or am I?  Suddenly, I’m feeling things I never thought possible with another man. Could Jake be the “ride or die” I’ve been yearning for my entire life?  Is the road less traveled the one I’ve always needed?  Am I scared? Hell, yes!

I found this one to be quite the intense story. I understand that this was the prequel to Watcher. I do agree that it could be read as a standalone. It is action-packed . I loved the paranormal/fantasy twist with angels/demons among the humans. The storyline kept me hooked. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. The characters, I can’t say enough. They are out of this world, exciting. A good read that fans of this genre will love.

This book was an interesting read. the story between Malakai and Bryon was like no other, especially on how your inner self can reflect on how you view others or celestials. Also, how this book took a turn from hunting these entities to falling for them a helping instead, was an amazing turn of events. This book really kept me guessing while I was reading it. The way the author visibly wrote out the worlds in this book made you feel like you were right in the book. This book is also very good without having to read the others, but I highly suggest you do, you will not be disappointed.

I love mm romance and add in the paranormal element, and it’s perfect. Byron and Kai are the cutest together. It was sad to see how Kai was coping after the loss of Julian but beautiful to see him be able to open up and love someone again. They both feel something between each other when they first meet but it takes a minute for them to finally give into their hearts and it was so fun watching them grow together. The ending had my heart ripping open, I wasn’t sure where the author was going with them both meeting Nash, but it hurt so good. I can’t wait for the next book!

But fate takes a turn, and Kai finds himself drawn to one of his targets instead.

He has fought for every breath he’s taken and each bite he’s eaten, yet in the instant when his demise finally seems inevitable, death incarnate steps forward and spares him. The Final BiteThe Final Bite by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read by the talented Naomi Valkyrie. While I usually don’t read MM books the original story of the book made me give it a try. In the synopsis it is stated that one paranormal person is selected every ten years for a second chance at life. This cycle it is Quinnlan Trinity, a vampire that was murdered by his greedy sister a couple hundred years ago that is given his second chance.
Its officially Halloween when Quinnlan materializes naked in a rundown abandoned motel in the middle of nowhere. Three days in a small family town on the edge of a wolf pack, but a second chance is a second chance and Quinnlan is determined to give it his all to take advantage of the Gods kindness is choosing him. Watching the small town go about their Halloween activities Quinnlan is drawn to a mysterious figure that is walking alone in the dark away from the town. Following them for a short time he catches the scent of three wolves following as well, worried for the seemingly innocent person he continues to follow but from a distance to keep his scent from alerting the wolves. The end of the trail and Quinnlan might be a vampire, but he had never seen a ghost before one appeared before him yelling “HELP HIM” before vanishing again. The mysterious person is laying on the ground badly injured from the warning of the wolves when Quinnlan is faced with a choice. Allow this stranger to die, or give him his blood and save him but putting his fate in the strangers’ hands alone? Quinnlan might be a vampire, but he was always a lover and not a fighter, so he gives his one chance at a second life to save the man, later learning his name is Garrett. Many questions are running through Quinnlan’s mind, who is this man? What is his story? Why was he attacked by wolves? Will he accept my choice to save him, or will I return to purgatory?
For such a short read this book left me feeling satisfied, or better yet complete no cliffhangers or lingering what ifs. Not only was the story complete but the original plot has rules, including that the paranormal must tell their chosen mate the truth about the 3 days, everything so that in the end everyone gets to make their own informed decision on what will be the rest of their lives. One of my favorite things was the writer breaking the fourth wall, saying things we were thinking and telling the reader to use their imaginations which added an extra level of humor in some very intense situations. I look forward to reading more work from the amazing mind of Naomi Valkyrie. World building, storyline, writing style is all awe inspiring and enjoyable to read.

I loved this book so much! Naomi Valkyrie has created yet another mesmerizing story, and I just can’t get enough of it. This paranormal romance is filled with steamy vampires, magic, and plenty of action.

When the gods decide that Quinnlan deserves a second chance at love and life, it sounds like a miracle. Except that there are stipulations to this second chance. Quinnlan has three days to take a mate, or he goes back to purgatory forever. When Quinnlan finds Garrett bleeding out, he has a choice to save him or let him die. If he chooses Garrett and gets rejected, he risks heading back to the one place he doesn’t want to go. Can he really let him die, or will he take the chance for true love?

I am never disappointed by this author’s work, and I’m happy to say that I’m left craving more after reading The Final Bite. I loved every moment of it and highly recommend picking it up for a quick escape!

The Final BiteThe Final Bite by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a short story that I absolutely LOVED!! I REALLY, REALLY hope that the author decides to either continue it later on or add to it somehow. I would love to read more of this story!! So, every 10 years the Gods choose a paranormal being, who was unjustly killed, and they get a second chance at life. Nice right? Well, there are rules though!! First, you only have three days to find and choose a mate. Second, you can’t use any powers to influence said mate (love potions, mind control, etc etc). Third, you can only choose one person. If that person doesn’t work out for any reason, you go right back to purgatory. No Second Chances within this second chance. Your chance is just lost! And lastly, you have to tell your chosen mate about the challenge and said rules. Maybe not so easy after all! Quinlan is the chosen one this decade and boy oh boy does he have his work cut out for him! The gods have placed him in a hotel, in wolf territory, and in the middle of nowhere. These Gods must be out to get him! At least they gave him three changes of clothes and some cash, but funny thing is that they forgot underwear! What the heck?! Was that on purpose?? What are these silly Gods up to!!? Day one is passing quickly. By the time he catches some animals to eat (as he is a vampire) and looks around the SUPER small town he’s ready to get some sleep and work out a plan for this challenge. Scoping out the town at night might bring some more answers about the town and it’s residents. Will he be able to find a mate time? Three days in a small town with less people could be a big issue. Maybe he needs to take a day to travel somewhere else and up his chances? With not much money he won’t be able to get far. Should he let the alpha in the area know about his challenge? He doesn’t want to tick off the locals and have a wolf war on his hands too! Man oh man you are in for a treat with this one! Like I said it is a short story, but the author packs in some great stuff in those few pages. Give it a shot and see what Quinnlan ends up doing AND what he ends up dealing with.
