This was a really good read. It is a MM Romance and there are some aspects of if that some people may find triggering, however the author deals with them in a way that is respectful but doesn’t shy away from how terrible things can be. This story is about 2 guys who started out as friends. Both if them had traumatic childhood and they found comfort in each other.
As they get older the realise that their feelings towards one another is more than just friendship. However while Kyle is happy to embrace the person he is and the fact he is in love with Lyle, Lyle can’t come to terms with or admit the fact that he is in love with Kyle.
What unfolds is a toxic relationship as Lyle struggles to come to terms with his feelings for Kyle.
My heart hurt for them because everytime you think things are going to work out Lyle always gets scared and runs. Will he ever be able to embrace his true self and be with the man he loves?
This book is left with a cliff hanger and I can’t wait to carry on reading Kyle and Lyles story.

Foxy Tails is a fantasy romance by Natalina Reis. The story follows nine-tail fox Huli as he makes his way through a world that hunts demons like him. He meets divine healer Xiao Ying. When they meet, Huli is dealing with the pain of moving through the world unloved and Xiao Ying’s whole family has been murdered. This story has a rich fantasy world filled with danger and adventure. The world-building is great and the characters are fun. Ling Ling and Ye Ying are fun and funny. The romance between Huli and Xiao Ying is sweet and takes its time. I really enjoyed this story. It would be great to get book 2 so that we can get more development of Huli and Xiao Ying.

Afflicted LoveAfflicted Love by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Afflicted Love is Book One in the Rhythm and Heart series. It is a MM romance story full of raw emotion, passion, lust, and forbidden love. It tells the story of Kyle and Lyle who met when they were younger, after Kyle saved Lyle from being bullied. The two became friends, and Kyle vowed to always protect Lyle. Over the years they had to navigate the feelings that they were having as they eventually started feeling more for each other. Both boys have grown up with abuse and neglect in their lives so when they met, they vowed to be there for one another. When they become separated after an unfortunate incident neither expects to see the other again. Lyle has spent years denying how he feels about Kyle and has tried to put it behind him until a death in the family brings them together. Can they put aside the hurt, anger, and betrayal and move on together?

This was a beautiful story of forbidden love, overcoming inner demons, and family dynamics. Please be advised that it does have some dark material that may contain triggers for some. The characters of Lyle and Kyle were wonderfully written, and their story is compelling, tragic, and complex. The bond they have and how they feel for one another must be kept hidden because it is forbidden and not tolerated by those closest to them. Their love is considered wrong and forbidden. This book will have you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions as you experience the pain, betrayal, anger, grief, love, lust, and despair that Lyle and Kyle navigate through. A fantastic read.

Húlí is a nine-tailed fox and since he was a small child, he has been insulted, feared, persecuted and hunted, this is the only life he knows and it has become a life full of hiding in plain sight and keeping his head on his shoulders all while doing what he needs to in order to survive, even though he knows it will lead him into trouble. Xiăo Ying is a man who descends from a family of powerful healers and he has continued that tradition and become one himself, however, when he was only a young one, his entire family was wiped out in one day and ever since, he has held himself away from the world and live the life of a hermit while trying to find out exactly what happened.

One day, Húlí made a mistake which has led to his latest escape from the demon hunting hounds, albeit this time, he was betrayed by one of the few people he allowed to get close to him and now he is again, running for his life, however, when he sees a cottage ahead which looks empty, he takes a chance and flings himself through the door, only to find that he is not alone. Xiăo Ying is having yet another quiet night home alone, that is until a young man comes crashing through his front door and into his life, demanding and then pleading for him to close the door, he has no idea who he is, or why he is there, but he decides to help him. It is at this moment that both their lives are changed and despite the untoward circumstances, neither can forget the other when they part ways, that is until their paths cross again as healer and patient.

As the reality hits of their situation, they begin to get the know the other, albeit under untoward circumstances again, this is where they decide to embark on a journey together with others who join them along the way, however, when neither can deny the feelings for the other, love blossoms and blooms as they tread a path of truth, lies, secrets and revelations, but will they find the answers they are so desperately seeking, or will this path lead to darkness, pain and further betrayal? This is a charming tale of a group of solitary individuals coming together to form strong bonds and stronger alliances in this story of fate, romance and a future where the past is illuminated and the future obscured until the end.

Foxy Tails by Natalina Reis. This is not my favorite genre but I’m telling you as soon as I picked up this book I could not put it down. This is the story of Huli a 9 tailed fox who is running for his life because of his nine tails he is considered to be a demon. His best friend Ling, Ling who is his ride or die. She will defend Huli with everything she has. Huli is also saved by the “Healer” Xiao Ying and the more time they spend together the more love they have for one another. Xiao Ying is all alone in the world due to his whole family being murdered. His goal is find who did this and make them pay. Huli has feelings for Xiao Ying and he’s not shy about it, Xiao Ying feels the same. The story really takes off as Huli, Xiao Ying and Ling, Ling go on the adventure of their life. As Huli finds more members of his family that were saved he is so happy. This book is full of emotion, love, hatred, mystery, fantasy and friendship. Just be prepared to not put it down once you start. Its that good!

Afflicted Love is the first book in the Rhythm & Heart series and it is a MM dark romance. This emotion filled book kept me intrigued but also kind of ping ponged back and forth with enough angst, i got whiplash. Other than that I thought it was a good but dark book that goes through the many hard emotions and pain that the main characters experience. I enjoyed this authors writing style and the story overall even if it ended in a massive cliffhanger that left me with a lot of questions but eager to read more. I would recommend this to someone that like a more angsty dark read!
Looking forward to more by this author!

This was a good story! I enjoyed it, but as not as much as I really wanted to. The synopsis showed a lot of promise and I was very excited to read this. However, a lot of the names were hard to pronounce and it was difficult for me to keep everything together in my head. I think I had an off reading day, and just wasn’t in the mood for this particular story however. It was very interesting though, and I had a lot of different elements that I haven’t seen in a story before.

This was a good read. It’s not my typical genre, but I liked the magical/fantasy aspect of it. I enjoyed being able to see the dual view points between Huli and Xiao as well as the way their relationship evolves and develops. It did take me quiet a while to get into the story and I wish the world building was done a little better. I felt parts of the plot were rushed and it does end on a cliffhanger. This is a MM romance. I would recommend this book, but I feel that there were parts that could have been done better.

I was a bit surprised by this story. The depth of feeling, the exposure to trauma, the direction of the story. There was just so much to appreciate. The only thing that I can’t take was the way it ended. How could Lyle do that? How could the author do that to me?!?!

This is the story of Kyle and Lyle. Brothers by heart and not by blood. Kyle grew up hard and fast. His mother died when he was very young. His father was not a good man. One day Kyle was at the playground when he saw a younger boy getting bullied. Kyle stepped up and defended that boy, Lyle. From that day forward Kyle and Lyle were inseparable. Unfortunately, Lyle’s life was not much different from Kyle’s. The only difference was that Lyle’s mom was still around until he was 12, Kyle was 14.

When Lyle’s dad found out about the relationship between Lyle and Kyle that had changed from more than just brothers, Kyle was kicked out. This was the first time Lyle felt Kyle’s abandonment. As Lyle and Kyle grew older, Lyle continued to deny his feelings towards Kyle because of all the horrible things Lyle’s dad had screamed at him for years after Kyle left. Kyle and Lyle had a huge fight, each saying some things they didn’t mean but it ended with them not talking. Now, their dad has died and it is time to go home to finally put him to rest.

Can Kyle and Lyle come together after 4 years apart to put everything behind them and move on? Will they destroy each other in the process?

This beautiful story of love, recovery, and family will touch you down to your soul. I suffered through a long day at work after a short night because I could not put this book down. I was gutted after each verbal argument. It was hard to watch Kyle walk away. It was even worse to see Lyle’s choices. I am still not sure all the pieces are put back together after the shattering ending. I can only hope the heart will mend after the next one. Phenomenal.

This amazingly talented author simply never ever disappoints! This book is yet another example of her creativity and talent. It is raw, emotional and will keep you hooked all the way through as long as a push and pull type storyline is your cup of tea. Hell even if it isn’t your usual go to give this book a read. These two characters, brought together and bonded over violence, who fight their attraction for each other, will draw you in even when your heart wants to break for them at times. I will say it ends on a cliff hanger so be prepared.

Foxy Tails by Natalina Reis was an enjoyable story. I originally picked it up since it had a hint of magic, I was willing to try out the MM fantasy romance genre. When I read that Huli was a nine tailed fox I immediately thought of Naruto, if that is what you expect it is nothing like it besides his need for mischief (which is a common fox trait). I wish that the world building come had been a little stronger. The sexy scenes were very short and brief. I enjoyed that some chapters had a change in perspective between Huli and Xiao so you have a greater understanding of their past and feelings. The connections between the main characters and the evolving story kept me engaged. The ending felt slightly rushed and ended in a major cliffhanger.

Kyle and Lyle are brothers in a sense. Kyle moved in with Lyle when they were young kids. Kyle took all the lashings from their dad growing up so it would never happen to Lyle. Kyle was the protector. As they grew up, they fell apart. Kyle joined a band, traveled all over. While Lyle ended up getting engaged to a woman because that’s what he thought was right. Lyle gets a phone call their father has passed away, so he goes to the club where Kyle’s band is playing. They end up traveling together to get all the family stuff taken care of. And this is where Lyle finds himself that he is in love with Kyle, maybe always has been.<br />This is an absolute must read! But let me just say the cliff hanger…I need more!!

Be prepared to run the full gamut of emotions with this one. Kyle and Lyle met as young boys who both came from abusive homes. They became like brothers to one another. But as they got older those feeling evolved into something else. Their story is one of turmoil, struggle, heart ache, lust, desire, betrayal, and so much more. The depth that this story and characters have is truly amazing. This story will truly suck you in. It is steamy and devastating. Not for the faint of heart. Talk about a whirlwind. Fast paced at neck breaking speeds I couldn’t keep up with the turmoil. My heart aches for Kyle. I want to scream at Lyle !

Abuse is a consistent theme thorough out the book mentions of SA, PA and mental.

The going really got good when the marriage of convenience came into play. I really want to know the backstory on that.

“He woke him with a kiss. That was just the beginning.”

Sleeping Love by Natalina Reis is another interesting paranormal MM romance with shifters, magic, action, adventure, danger, friendship, family, curses, forbidden love, friends-to-lovers, fate, angst, drama, agendas, and high stakes.
This had definite Sleeping Beauty vibes with a bit of a twist, as well as Eastern cultural influences, and shifters mingled in. Thes Asian influences definitely added an extra element of interest to the story, for me. This isn’t your ‘regular’ romance, though- but still tugs on the heart strings.
Happy Reading…

Where do I even begin……this story…my emotions are all over the place and I am trying to keep them in check. I am totally in love with this book but the gut punch of just raw, pure emotions really has me wanting more. This is my first book by this author and wow………I am just amazed.

This MM Romance is dark, and you are on a complete journey with Lyle and Kyle. They both grew up poor and in dire straits with their families that involved abuse and neglect. Their vow is to be there for each other like “brothers”, Kyle always protecting Lyle at all costs..the trauma and emotional roller coaster they go through until they are separated by despair and lies. When Lyle and Kyle reconnect….their love for each other never wavered….more so than just being brothers in their eyes. What happens when jealousy, lies and the need to pretend start to crack between Lyle and Kyle?

This story really has me on edge, just thinking about both Kyle and Lyle….my heart is just breaking……if you like dark MM Romance this story is definitely for you, but be warned there are triggers that may not be for everyone. I am looking forward to book 2 already! The author left me wanting more!!

This compelling Sleeping Beauty fairy-tale retelling is filled with adventure, action, magic, princes, an evil king, banishment and curses.
Natalina’s world building is well thought out and the characters are wonderfully written and well fleshed out. The cast of secondary characters are engaging and made me laugh. There is lots of sass, fun banter, love, angst, sadness, and friendship.
I enjoy Natalina’s stories as they are engaging and creative. This lovely story will touch your heart and make you believe in a love.

Foxy Tails by Natalina Reis is a story full of love and adventure that makes it that more interesting.

A really original fantasy romance, Foxy Tails combined elements of fairy tales with a quest involving magic, shifters, and a regal realm. I adored how unique this narrative and its surroundings were. In order to keep the reader interested in the characters’ adventures, the author makes several references to the culture and mythologies of ancient China. These references are both educational and fascinating.Huli and Xiao Ying, in my opinion, constituted a good pairing that was well-balanced. There was a clear connection between these two, and I enjoyed watching them grow closer even though their romance didn’t feel like the story’s primary focus.

Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a very unique story with even more one of a kind characters. The story really transports you into their world. I couldn’t put the book down

Even a little romance brewing between Huli, known as Fox and Xiao Ying also known as the Healer, adds to the fun of this story. There are lots of questions but since this author has a way with words and brings the reader right into this alternate world all of the answers are revealed.

Foxy Tails is a MM paranormal romance between a shapeshifting fox and a healer that meet quite accidentally. Huli is a nine-tailed fox that lives in a world that hunts him because they believe he is a demon. The story starts out action packed with the fox fleeing from hunters after trying to seduce the wrong person. The Fox does not always think clearly when he needs to feed, and this often leads to trouble for him. He tries to seek shelter in a home that he thought was unoccupied but quickly learns that someone does indeed live there. The home he sought shelter in belongs to Xiao Ying who is a divine healer. The two find a connection in that they both lead lives that are lonely and feel an attraction towards one another.

This was a fun and engaging story, and I liked how the story started out with the way in which Huli and Xiao Ying first meet. The introduction was quite accidental and unexpected but obviously fate intervened to bring them together. The romance takes a bit to get started, which in all honesty I enjoyed. It was not instant chemistry but more of a slow burning romance and a relationship that built over time. I found this to be refreshing and a bit more believable. Huli was as to be expected as a fox because he was sly, clever and did not always think before acting on impulse. Xiao Ying is a bit quiet and reserved but it is because he is wise and perceptive. The two characters brought out the best in one another and made a perfect couple. This book was full of action, suspense, intrigue, adventure, danger, magic, and romance.

From the moment I picked up Natalina Reis’s book Foxy Tails I could not put it down. The action begins right from the beginning of the book as you get to know your main character Huli the nine-tailed fox as he’s running for his life. His character was so well developed right from the start that there was no misunderstanding of his personality, he was cocky, very sexual, and he outright loved men, which is what got him into trouble in the first place. Shockingly his best friend, Ling Ling, was a female warrior who stood up for Huli no matter what mischief he got himself into. We get to meet the mysterious healer Xiao Ying by chance when he saves Huli’s life not once but twice in the first few chapters of the book. I love the way Natalina uses such great descriptions of the surroundings that you can paint a mental picture in your mind. The way she develops the characters it’s so hard to decide if you love them or hate them because you’re so wrapped up in their lives and their stories, you just are there along for the ride, with no time to think. I love the progression that Natalina takes with this book, the unexpectedness of what happens just keeps you wanting more, as I said I just couldn’t put the book down until it was finished. This is a great read, but not for the younger minds, that is for sure. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the intricacies of this tale, and want to read more from Natlina Reis!

Just a reminder the author does place a note at beginning of book with a trigger warning for this book.

Lyle is saved as a young kid by Kyle. However Kyle ends up saving himself at the same time. Neither boy has a good home life and has endured a rough upbringing up until they meet. Immediately they become “brothers” in every since of the word except for being blood.

Now Lyle is at a point in his life where he coming into his own and doesn’t know how to handle these feelings and emotions he is having. This goes on for a number of years until finally he does the unthinkable and breaks Kyles heart.

Their story is about finding themselves, coming into their own and discovering and living their truth. Can they make it? Will Lyle finally give in to what he’s known about himself and quit hiding? Can Kyle move past the deceit and forgive?

I am already looking forward to the rest of this story.
