Whatever Tomorrow Brings (Embrace Tomorrow #2)Whatever Tomorrow Brings by Amy Argent
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If I thought I needed the tissues for the first book in this duet then I was wrong because I needed a bucket load more for this book. Oh my gosh what an emotional roller-coaster I have been on with Tori and Will. I think the author did an absolutely amazing job with this story, to take something that has an impact on so many people and to write about it so beautifully, so raw and truthful is really something special. I felt like I was right there with Tori and Will from the very beginning until the very last word of this book. I laughed with them, I cried with them and I felt every single emotion that they did. Both books have been a pleasure to read and I will definitely be looking forward to more from this author again in the future.

Broken Chains by Karina Kantas – Review by Karyn Taylor

Broken ChainsBroken Chains by Karina Kantas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a brilliant dark mafia romance. It is definitely for over 18’s and can be a trigger for some due to the graphic violence and non-consensual sex scenes. I had never previously read any of this author’s work but I do love a good dark mafia romance and was very intrigued by the blurb of this book so decided to give it a try. I’m very glad that I took the chance on this book because I really loved it.
Elizabeth (Liz) certainly has a load to deal with. It’s not every person that has 3 mafia bosses all after them, yet that’s what Liz is dealing with. This book is not for the faint hearted or anyone who is squeamish. There is a great deal of very brutal violence dealt out, most of it to Liz and she is the recipient of a great deal of non-consensual sex. If you can handle the violence, there is a fantastic storyline that goes along with it.
As well as the non-consensual sex, there are some very steamy consensual sex scenes that get the pulse racing.
I was really gripped to this story from the very beginning. The story is fast paced and takes you on an emotional journey with much danger, violence and intrigue along the way.
Definitely worth 5 stars and would recommend to those with a stronger stomach.

Drummer’s Beat (Satan’s Devils MC #2) AUDIO BOOK by Manda Mellett – Review by Shelly Kittell

I am a huge fan of this series. Listening to the book has added such a level of excitement tha tyou just can’t get with reading. The team narrating does a wonderful job. They add the right touch of attitude to the characters. The author dies a fantastic job with the plot. She ties up the plots so they intertwine smoothly.. The plot twists are surprising and a surprise that you don’t see coming. The characters are just that, very much personalities unto themselves. They all somehow get along fairly wall to make a cohesive “family.” She is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to check out more of her books on audio. These are really nice for a road trip (as long as the kids aren’t in the car.) I would recommend for the over 18 age group. It is a little steamy.

Elizabeth “Liz” Finely loves the tv show Spooks. Liz loves it so much that she decides to find out if MI5 operates the same way as it does in the show. Liz scopes out the headquarters and starts observing the goings on there. She gets caught. This sends Liz’s life spiraling in new directions.

Marco Lucianno is the Don of the Italian Mafia. Marco decides that he needs to own Liz. Not only because she is valuable in his world but because she seems to have stolen his heart. When Liz’s past brings war to Marco’s doorstep, Marco must make some difficult choices.

This fast-paced twisted tale of Liz’s past, present and future that come crashing together explode in brutal fashion. Liz is devastatingly thrown into the underworld. Three families battle over Liz for reasons that she will soon learn. Liz will find that she is stronger and more resilient than she ever thought she could be after the suffering at the hands of all the families. As Marco and Liz’s futures become further entwined, the future becomes more of a question than ever before.

I was hooked from the moment Liz was busted for reconning the MI5 Headquarters. This quick moving story has many twists and turns. The ending is surprising. I couldn’t believe that one woman could cause so much trouble for so many different crime families. Liz is amazing. Her resolution is truly remarkable.

Content Warning: This book contains graphic depictions of violence, sexual assault, and torture. This is intended for mature audiences only.

Luke by A.S. Roberts – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Luke (Default Distraction #4)Luke by A.S. Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Luke is the fourth book in the Default Distraction series. From the first page this book hooked me, and I was eager to learn more about who Luke was. Luke is a man that knows little about his past or where he came from. His early life is quite tragic, and because of that he feels like there’s a piece of himself that’s missing. Luke’s rock band, Default Distraction, is highly successful but no amount of money, fame, fortune, or fans can replace the piece of Luke that is missing. Despite his early beginnings, he is determined to become a better person and to give his young daughter the life that he never had. Luke is determined to be there for his little girl and always protect her and wants his daughter to know the sense of having family and belonging.

Nikki has had a quite different upbringing than Luke and comes from a very close-knit family. Suddenly tragedy strikes and her world is turned upside down. Nikki is now broke, jobless, and no longer feels as though she knows who she is. To provide for herself and her family Nikki takes on the job as nanny for Luke and his young daughter.

What nobody expects is for the sparks to fly between Nikki and Luke. Nikki doesn’t want to risk losing her job or losing the little girl that she has come to love so she tries to deny her attraction to Luke. The chemistry is something that Luke also feels but tries to deny because he does not want to risk losing the woman that his daughter has come to love. The risks are too great for both Nikki and Luke and there is too much at stake for them both to lose. Yet, it is hard to deny the chemistry and attraction between the two of them. Will they risk losing everything to be together?

Luke had great characters in it, and I loved learning more about the backstory of the character of Luke. It is very well written and is a story unlike most others. Although it could be a standalone book and read on its own, I would recommend reading the other three books in the series first.

Broken Chains by Karina Kantas – Review By Amanda Swindle

Broken ChainsBroken Chains by Karina Kantas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Broken Chains is a dark romance centering around the mafia and has tons of trigger warnings. Brutality and extremely graphic scenes of sex and violence, secrets and lies…it all fills the pages. If you can look past that, it is actually a great book and awesome storyline. I found this author to be unique in her ability to draw you in, and hold you there, as if you are a bystander watching the scenes unfold. The characters are convincing and not overly done, but also engaging and you find yourself loving and hating each one individually. I will definitely say, Broken Chains is probably NOT for everyone, for the reasons I have already stated, and I did not think it would entice me as much as it did. I really do not want to get into much more, or drop hints into the plot or the twists that come with it, but I will say this book was well written and I will be seeking out others from Karina Kantas immediately. Bravo – 5 stars.

Mom, Is There a Santa Claus?Mom, Is There a Santa Claus? by Susan J. Berger
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story gets ☆☆☆☆☆ stars! It is one of the cutest stories to answer that age long question. Is Santa Claus real? I love how this story leaves hope for the children. This author has taken what determines a child’s feelings, and allowed them to help others believe. In all my teaching I have always said “Santa is in the hearts of all people.” As this is what I grew up hearing. These characters are as real as you can get when it comes to school peers. What an awesome way to keep Santa in our hearts. Beautiful pictures bring this story to life. I recommend this book to all parents of young children.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is NOT for the faint of heart and this is your trigger warning. It is a very dark Mafia romance that is full of intense suspense.

Elizabeth is a young woman who left singing and writing behind to join the M15 after meeting a man named Alex. Things are going great in her new career until she receives a coded message. Elizabeth soon finds herself being hunted down by 3 mafias and she has to fight for her life. She faces things that would break most people’s minds and likely never survive.

I love Elizabeth. She is a strong, intelligent and caring woman who has been forced to experience unspeakable things and yet she rises up to each challenge and fights.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who isn’t afraid to face the ugly head on and see the beauty that flourishes from it. Trust me Elizabeth’s journey is worth it!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

While, this was not exactly as I was expecting, this was a great read. It reads more as a self-help book, rather than a beginners version of pagan magic. I thoroughly enjoyed this book once I really understood the areas being covered/written about. I love how this book covers really good reminders for the work-life balance. There are areas in this book that cover juggling a career along side with family obligations. Also really good reminders and pointers on becoming the best version of yourself.

Dahlia is a 100 year old dragon shape shifter who was exiled to the world that runs parallel with her own. When the city is threatened by a series of murders and lies, Dahlia is determined to get to the truth. You will have to read this book to find out what twists lie ahead for you as the reader.

Broken Chains by Karina Kantas

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. This is for 18+ because it’s a detailed sexual violence book. Broken Chains is a great read.

Liz is a wanna be author and it doesn’t end well for her. She soon changes her mind and goes to school. She is approached with a job offer. The quote I chose for Liz is: “Hey. Where are you? I’ve been waiting ten minutes. Oh, I see. Okay. No- don’t worry. I’ll catch up with you later. Sounds like fun but I can’t make it, something’s come up. You know how it is. No, don’t change your plans. I’ll sort something out. Okay. Yeah, see you soon. Bye.”

Alex is part of the M15 and is watching Liz. They bring her in because they are suspicious of what she is watching them for. He soon finds himself falling for her, but is it too late? The quote I chose for Alex is: “No, it means you’ll be drafting documents, organising meetings and so forth. You’ll learn the ropes, and if you work hard and prove yourself, which I know you will, you’ll move up the ranks.”

Highly recommended for Dark Romance lovers.

I truly love dark mafia romance, and I always have to prepare myself for how dark It can get. This author is new to me, and I enjoyed the journey she took my imagination on. The suspense, action, drama, intrigue and overall intensity of the story was great. The twists continuously took you into the unknown.

We meet Liz and everything she goes through is unexpected, and it’s quite dark. She goes from her mundane existence to meeting Alex who is an MI5 Agent and from there she begins her spiraling descent into the unthinkable. Her curiosity leads her on some uncharted and dark roads. She endures the unthinkable time and time over, but her strength never wanes. It’s a question of will she break thru or be broken.

Broken Chains by Karina Kantas – Review by Stephanie Chapman

Broken ChainsBroken Chains by Karina Kantas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Imagine wanting to write a book based loosely off a favorite show. Liz was watching a building, writing notes about people who were entering and exiting, making up stories about what they could be doing. She was aware that she was looking at MI5 headquarters, which was supposedly a location where her favorite crime series show filmed. Liz was incorrect, and little did she know that she was about to embark upon several life altering events in life.

MI5 was the headquarters of the Secret Services, and they pounced upon the writer. After reviewing files and her notes, supervising agent Alex takes special notice of Liz’s attention to details. He convinces her to go through training and become an agent. Liz’s first assignment leads her to Athens, and uniting with her estranged father. When she meets her father, she feels he is not being honest with her about details important to her case. After checking into a hotel, she learns that she is now on a hit list after Alex thwarts an assassination attempt on her life.

After recovering from injuries, Liz’s assignment is security detail at a banquet hall with Alex. The banquet is ambushed and Liz becomes separated from the main group. When she gains a view of the main area, she discovers her group is surrounded. Unsure of what to do, she suddenly hears a voice calling out her name to surrender. Liz knows the voice is sinister and belongs to someone she never thought would hurt her. What does Liz do, fight or surrender? This is a fast-paced 4 star novel that will keep you turning pages in discovery.

18 AND OLDER!!!

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. The author knows how to get a reader’s attention and keep it. Still Taking Chances is a great read.

Elgin is back in town after 15 years. When he gets to the house he hasn’t been to in several years he sees someone in the yard. He soon learns her secret and is intrigued. The quote I chose for Elgin is: “The name is Hud, and, no, Mistress, I won’t touch you without permission.”

Mary Beth is shocked when she is told to get away from the house. She doesn’t think anyone will find out what she has hidden for the last five years. She learns that maybe she can help him out. The quote I chose for Mary Beth is: “I find that hard to believe. If you were going to spend your vacation time in Willowbrook, you would have been back to see your grandmother before now.”

Highly recommended for Erotica Romance lovers.

If there is anything holding you up on your decision to purchase and read these novels, don’t wait, don’t stall one more moment. Get them both right now and devour this duet right now. These novels are by far my favorite two romance reads this year. Like top five reads of 2021 you guys. Phillip and Kat were everything I didn’t know I was missing in the romance department of things in romance reads. I had hit a slump and was feeling a bit bummed with my reading and these suckers really pulled me from the darkness and just made my fervor for all things love and gooeyness, yeah I don’t care if that isn’t even a word, these two make me feel it, just explode all over again. I have all the plans to buy some friends these two for the holidays because I feel like what could be a better gift. The blend of fantasy fiction and romance is flawless and the addition of music is once again a strength of this author that I will never be able to get enough of. I can’t wait to see what we will get next!

Nite Fire: Flash Point by C. L. Schneider – Review by Amy Brennan

Flash Point (Nite Fire, #1)Flash Point by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dahlia Nite. She is everything one would hope for in a strong, heroine role. She has a snarky sense of humour, she’s strong, fierce, independent, and smart. Her weaknesses, of course, include the fact that she is an Empath, though, many would argue that’s a positive as well. It allows for her to feel all that needs to be felt, to power her through her ‘assignments’ and see right from wrong. The connections she builds with those who cross her path, and who need her, is admirable. Our lady is considered a ‘traitor’ in her homeland, and she has spent the last several decades trying to do right by the memories that haunt her and does a kick butt job at it too.

This novel was very unlike any other that I have read as of late and was much more involved. I found myself enthralled by the plot line, the twists and turns, and the way it has the reader falling into it, as though one was watching a movie. I think each and everyone of us has problems fitting into the ‘norm,’ whatever that may be, and want to know that we have someone looking out for us. Luckily for those within this novel, they have that in her. She clearly struggles with not feeling as though she fits into either the human world, or the Lyrriken world. Incredible story, characters, and world building. I will be reading more of the Nite Fire series and following our lovely heroine in her future endeavors. Well done!
