Knight On Edge is the seventh book in the Jorja Knight Mystery series by Alice Bienia. This is a very engrossing mystery with plenty of tension, suspense, action, adventure, danger, crime + investigation, secrets, lies, deception, personal turmoil/crisis, whodunnit feel, twists, agendas, and a tangled web of mystery.
Again, we join Jorja Knight, who we met in the previous books, as she takes on a simple infidelity case which takes a deadly turn. Untangling the shocking truth will test Jorja far more than she imagined when she signed up for the case, especially when she has her own personal struggles to contend with as well. What happens makes for another gripping read.
Even though this is the seventh book in the series, you can read it as a standalone without feeling like you are missing anything. Having said that though, the other books in the series make for great reading too- and contain their own intriguing mysteries for Jorja to solve. They also provide more character information, background stories, and other interesting details which, all combined, will definitely enhance your appreciation of this book, as well as the series as a whole.

This was a great 5 star read. I really liked Sabrina, she is a strong woman and was a great character. She works as Brent Fraser’s secretary and works at a nightclub. With a twist, Sabrina and Brent end up working together to bring down his former colleague. As these two start to spend more time together, feelings start to ignite. Both of them have some history that they are trying to overcome. Overall I enjoyed this read. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I look forward to reading more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today.

The Fixer, a book title that could be taken literally and figuratively where this book is concerned. The author brings us a story with love, hate, animosity, admiration, and so much more. With two very strongly independent main characters that constantly butt heads. An intriguing story that sucks the reader in from the get go. Making it a great story to navigate especially with the growth and self discovery displayed throughout. One I would definitely read again!
Joy needs to deal with her mother’s estate. The quicker the better. Only one problem: the building her mother’s home and shop is in is protected by historical structure laws. So she can’t tear it down, but she can’t sell it without putting work into it as well. In comes the annoying contractor(not so much annoying but to Joy he is.) Charlie gives her the rundown, while trying to push for a full restoration. In the end, as much as she infuriates him, it’s her decision in the long run.
As they get to know one another and peel back each other’s layers they realize maybe they were both too quick to judge. Charlie is loved in his small town and Joy is a nobody. A nobody who’s discovering who she truly is along the way.
But what about the feelings that start to creep in?
Neither wants to truly acknowledge the attraction to the other.
Will that become a problem?
Also what will Joy decide about the building?
She was given options. She’s also had creeps trying to undermine her contractor in favor of them.
Will they become a problem?
If you like novels that are filled with self discovery as well as romance. This book is definitely for you!

It’s Cool To Be Kind is a book aimed at 7 to 9 year olds, but this book could be for any age. Teaching kindness starts at a very young age, and kids at any age should know that being kind will always work out best for you. It doesn’t have to be major acts of kindness it could just be opening a door for someone. The illustrations are phenomenal, and the message is great. I love that there are little activities or examples at the back of the book.

Sparks fly all over the place while she is living with them. This also the second book of the series.

This is my first read by this author. I grabbed it up as I enjoy a good historical read and I also enjoy westerns to a point. The chapters are relatively short, making this seem like a quick read. The characters are believable and you almost feel as if you are in the pages of the book with them at times. I love a good murder mystery too, and this one will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat.

Despite a large cast of characters, following the story through Whisper’s view makes everything easy to keep track of. I hadn’t read any books by this author before, so I was unsure of what to expect. The cover drew me in, and the synopsis piqued my interest, prompting me to give it a try. To my surprise, it turned out to be much more emotional than I anticipated. I found myself relating to the main character, Del, in numerous ways. As a fan of second-chance stories, this book felt like the perfect fit.

What stood out to me is how the author transcends the typical second-chance romance trope. Their writing style is captivating, creating a seamless flow that kept me engaged throughout. The characters are richly developed and relatable, making it feel like I was reconnecting with friends from the pages. The narrative captures Del’s fierce desire to reinvent herself. The chemistry between her and Ben crackles and creates a very tense setting. The author’s exploration of themes such as grief, resilience, and the complexity of human connection is both insightful and engaging. While this book is undeniably raw and heart-wrenching, it also shines with uplifting moments. If you’re in the mood for a fantastic rom com that delves into deeper emotions, I highly recommend giving this one a read!

What a sweet story – I loved Tasha and Caleb. Tasha is a nurse who loves birds but has a dark past and bad history with men. Caleb is a biologist and the new IFC at the wildlife refuge that Tasha often tours and is recently divorced. There are sparks from the beginning, when Tahsa meets Caleb on a Wednesday tour of the whooping cranes. I love the silly bird banter. I loved the setting and would love to visit just to hear the birds and watch them take flight. I loved the connection and love story. I loved how they shared thoughts and feelings, including all the dark things from the past. They were meant to find each other so they could help each other overcome the darkness. I also really liked the side story of Tahsa’s friends who are struggling to get pregnant. I can’t wait for more of this series to come out.

I also absolutely love the single dad, grumpy/sunshine tropes. Chloe and Niko meet in a bar and sparks fly but they find out soon after that Chloe is Nikos coaches daughter and is “off limits”. Will they come together or keep pushing each other away?

I absolutely love this story and how we get the perspective of the kids. As parents, we often forget that sometimes kids don’t understand the nuances of culture and can come to conclusions about themselves and it’s our job to make sure that we are teaching our children. I love how Varghese addresses these issues in her story. It’s lighthearted and completely as a child would (I suspect this comes from personal experiences) and the way it’s handled by the mother is phenomenal. She uses it as a learning opportunity to teach her children not only about their culture, but also about their family. I loved this book not only for the story but also the illustrations and the bright colors. Definitely pick this one up today!

This story introduced children to the idea that just because they aren’t celebrating their culture everyday doesn’t mean they aren’t a part of that culture. In this story the little boy asks his mom if he is Indian that day because they are getting dressed in traditional Indian clothing for a wedding. The mom explains where their family is from and how they are always Indian. The illustrations help the author paint a beautiful portrait of this family and the country of their heritage. This is a very short story and doesn’t deep dive into the idea of cultural self. What it does do is open the conversation for families.

India is one of my go to authors so clicking to get this book was a forgone conclusion. I love that more authors are embracing slightly older characters.
Midnight Deception is a complex and seductive read and packs a punch. I loved this original and unique story. What a page turner it turned out to be not that I was surprised not with India at the helm. It is well written, a little dark, sexy, and a touch of emotional read.
India has done such a fantastic job weaving a multi layered tangled web this story that you could literally feel the emotions jumping off the page. With secrets, lies, danger, suspense and tension this story and the characters makes for one captivating journey. It is one of those stories that I didn’t want to be over, as I fell in love with these characters.
Sabrina is in danger of her nightly persona coming to light. Unfortunately, it appears that she is now front and centre in a game of cat and mouse. Follow along as she sheds her layers like Superman and becomes the mysterious and sexy Nightshade.
This is a must read.

What can I say, I love this series: Jorja Knight Private Investigator Mystery series. Jorja Knight is kickar$e. The books in this series can be read as standalones but if you start from the beginning, you gain so much insight into our lead character Jorja Knight.
Knight On Edge is a thrilling tale pulls you into the suspenseful, mysterious, dangerous and harrowing world where Jorja is caught in a web of secrets, lies, deception and deadly motives.
I am not going to spill any thing in this review because you need to discover the joy of the story by yourself.
Read along with Jorja Knight and the paces Alice puts her through. It’s addictive for sure.

The Holy Land is a cleverly written charming and fun tale full of unique and quirky characters some like spirit guides and guardians both seen and not seen that have been around since the start of time. OMG AL is just hysterical. A place where time seems to stand still and the past and present intwine. There is a mystery, a peace, a sense of belonging and most of all discoveries.
Molly isn’t herself and not sure why and taking a holiday by herself and not with hubby is not something she usually does. What she needs can only be found in the Holy Land she just doesn’t know it yet. Did she pick the place, or did it pick her? You only have to look, really look to see what is there and what she discovers is exactly what she needs. Now I know that is all cryptic, but I don’t want to spoil things for you. You will need to read it to find out.
Laura is known for her unconventional tales and The Holy Land is just that, but it is so much more, it is an intriguing read and full of mystery and magical realism. It may be a short story, but it is packed full.
Journey along with Molly as she discovers some wonders in the world.

Bradbury is known for his historical fiction novels, and “Railway to Murder” is the first book in his new Buck Greene, Railroad Special Agent, Mysteries series. The story is set in the wild west during a time when men like Buck, who work on the gruelling railway line, are dealing with the aftermath of the American Civil War. Buck was looking for a fresh start, but he ends up entangled in an unexpected mystery. Now, he must uncover the identity of the murderer before they strike again. The book highlights the challenges of the time, as well as action, drama, intrigue, danger, survival, resilience, strength, and struggles, making for an interesting read. “Railway to Murder” is a well-written, multilayered, and intriguing murder mystery. Even if historical westerns aren’t usually your thing, this book is definitely worth a read.

This book is another interesting and unique story from an author who really isn’t scared of pushing boundaries and writing something different. I really enjoyed this book and watching how it all unfolded. Everything felt interconnected and yet I always felt like the author could have taken it in a new direction at any time.
The characters were all brilliant. Each fit with the story in their own way and added so much to what was going on. This is the kind of book I would love to rave about, but equally don’t want to spoil anything at all. I would recommend everyone read this and be prepared to be sucked in.

I didn’t need to see what this book was about when I saw who the author was. I instantly picked it up and did not put it down again until I had finished reading it. I was pulled into the story straight, which is exactly what I have come to expect from this author.
I loved the characters in this book. They were both so complex and interesting. They each had so much going on in their lives and yet, their connection was undeniable. I loved watching their relationship develop and could have easily kept reading about them. The story was well written too. I was completely invested in what was going on. This book is a fantastic start to a new series and I am really looking forward to the other books.

This book is part 7 of the Jorja Knight Mystery Series, and is no less amazing than the other 6. Jorja is a private detective in Canada. Her cases are usually run of the mill investigations into missing people, adultery or similar situations. Her latest case, however, turns into a mess that is most assuredly not what it appears from the outset. Sherrie Langcaster hires Jorja to find out if her husband is cheating, and when she discovers the truth, Jorja assumes she is done with Sherrie’s case. What neither of the women could possibly foresee is just how connected their lives would be from that point, and just how twisted everything around Sherrie and her husband was just about to get, when his mistress turns up dead, and Sherrie’s missing gun is the murder weapon. This mystery is great and will pull you in from beginning to end, but there is plenty of story line to remind you that Jorja is more than just a detective.

This is the first book in the Buck Greene, Railroad Special Agent, Mysteries series. I really enjoyed this murder mystery story and I can’t wait to read more from this series. The author does an amazing job of transporting the reader back in time and fully immersing the reader in the way of life back then. The story is so well woven that I couldn’t guess which turn would be next. It kept me guessing which is what I love.
The chapters are short which for me means I read them quickly. I had a constant feeling of reading just one more chapter and then realising I had read 3. The story is so immersive that I couldn’t stop reading once I started.

Buck Greene has just got back from fighting in the Civil war. After fighting for a better life he finds himself returning home to nothing as his parents have been killed during the war. Now he knows he needs a new start so he sets off to find his fortune along the railroads.
When he discovers the body of a railroad worker he places himself into the investigation in the hopes of getting a job as a railroad agent. However what he soon realises is that this is not the first murder and it is now a race against time to capture the murderer before they strike again and claim another life.

Will he solve the case before another life is lost? If he does solve the case will this give him the break he needs to become a proper agent?
