This book drew me in from the start. When I jumped into this book I was a little unsure if I would be able to follow since I hadn’t read the first book in this series but I found that I had no trouble at all. I am now definitely going to go back and read book one since I enjoyed this one so much. I found this story to be original and intriguing. I read this book in one sitting because I was so enthralled in the story line. I needed to know where this story was going. This book has a lot of history while still remaining current. This author did a wonderful job writing a romantic, paranormal, dramatic read.

Thomson – Review by Candida Hopper
A Long Kiss Goodbye is a nice dark treat and probably one of the best books I have read this year. It gets all your senses kicked into high gear. The story is fast-paced, thrilling and I love the way HD has cleverly woven all the delicate threads contained in this twisty plot. It is intriguing and suspenseful, steamy and a page turner that you are unable to put down. With dark secrets and lies around every corner, assault and murder looming in the dark, evil lurking in the shadows, it’s a wonder anyone is safe. Intrigue, action packed drama, thrills and suspense are the name of the game.
This is the follow on from A Kiss Before Dying which I discovered after I had finished but I did not feel I was missing a thing. This is my first-time reading HD’s work and I enjoyed the writing so much that I am going to go and devour the rest of her work.
I am not giving anything away because this is one little gem you need to discover the intensity of the story all by yourself. This is one of two books that you don’t want to miss out on.

This is an enjoyable and exciting paranormal romance with plenty of suspense to keep any reader hooked. When Avery is brutally attacked, there is no motive, and no suspect. Then days later when a neighbour is found dead, the second mutilated body to be found, it’s presumed that a serial killer is on the loose in Scottsdale. When Avery learns that her attack was not random or normal, she does not know who to trust, she even sees her next door neighbour, Luys act of kindness as being sinister. Meanwhile, Luys has his own secrets and a past he wants to keep hidden. When Avery is attacked, Luys knows that a killer deadlier than any human is to blame, and that he needs to protect her. Luys knows that if he trusts Avery he will be exposing his dark history. With a killer, “filled with a seething need for vengeance”, on the loose the couple join forces to find the killer, knowing they might not survive. As their attraction grows they start to wonder if a relationship between them is doomed from the start. The characters were well defined and the chemistry between Avery and Luys really came across in the narrative. This had a fast paced storyline with plenty of plot twists and turns that kept me happily turning the pages.

I enjoyed this suspenseful story. It is a story where one secret is big but someone else has a bigger secret. What they have in common is that they both could end up in death. What will happen when these two characters, Avery and Luys, team up? Someone is not who they say they are which makes things even more dangerous. This is a great story that is hard to put down. The characters pull you in from the beginning and keep me engaged to the end. They are strong, supportive towards each other and relatable. I really enjoyed what they brought to the story. They have great growth throughout the story which made the story easy to read. This is a story that is full of suspense and action. The twists and turns had me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what happened next, they had me coming back for more. This is a great story that I highly recommend. You don’t want to miss an enjoyable suspense story.

Thomson – Review by Bobbi Wagner
This one of the most original, intense, and intriguing, paranormal romance stories that I’ve read so far this year. It turns out that nothing is as it seems. Avery is attacked by what is thought to be a serial killer but turns out to be something else (read it and find out, you know you want to). Twists and turn, suspense at every corner had me holding my breath. I loved every minute of this story. The characters all had that are of mystery about them. There was just something off. I felt like everyone was suspicious. The plot flowed well even with all the twists and turns. The tone was like watching a great psycho thriller from the 80’s (my generation). I’d give it more than 10 stars if I could. It’s that could and you should hit that one-click button. Book two of series.

Thomson – Review by Shelly Kittell
She has a secret. He has a darker secret. One of their secrets can get them both killed.
Avery is brutally attacked. There is no motive, no suspect. She doesn’t know who to trust. The neighbor? Her friends? What about her lover or the police? Making the wrong choice will lead to her murder.
Days later, a neighbor is found dead. His mutilated body is the second in a matter of weeks. A serial killer has hit the streets of Scottsdale, and Avery suspects her assault is somehow tied to the killings.
As she slowly unravels the truth, Avery realizes her attack is anything but normal or random. She is only one player amongst many. But does she risk confiding in anyone? What about her next-door neighbor, Luys? His act of kindness has brought them together. But is it truly kindness or something more sinister? Could he be hiding his own agenda?
Luys wants his past kept in the past. But a killer, far deadlier than any human, isn’t willing to let things go. Then when Avery is assaulted, he knows he must do something to protect her, but at what cost? There’s no going back if he dares to trust Avery with his dark history. He’ll not only expose himself but the ones he loves. And what of any relationship between them? Is it doomed from the start, leading to pain, even death?
If they join forces to find a killer, will it be enough to survive? Because before they’re done, more than one person will die. And they’ll quickly learn someone is pretending to be who they’re not and that the killer is filled with a seething need for vengeance.
