Oscar and Emmy Weather a Hurricane was a great addition to the Oscar and Emmy Series, all of them have been great so far. This children’s book was super important, and so very informative. It stressed the importance of having an emergency box for each member of the house and making sure that when a storm is on its way you should get them out, updated, and ready. It also stressed the need to evacuate if told to do so. It had wonderful illustrations throughout, information about Hurricane Harvey, lots of fun, useful information, and resources told in a fun, easy to understand way.

This is a very great read to help young readers understand the importance of getting ready for a hurricane and how to prepare when you have pets. The story is very realistic on what happens during a hurricane. The author shows how having pets is a great responsibility and how the children in the story are very helpful. I love how the author incorporates the quirks of Oscar and Emmy to give the readers some relief during the story. The artwork is very well done also.

Are you ready for a hurricane? Do you have what you need for your pets during this emergency? That is the information you will find in this story of Oscar and Emmy. Abby and Charlie take their pets seriously. They love Oscar and Emmy and want to keep them safe as all fur baby people should do. The author has opened up ideas that even I did not know when it comes to pets. The story may be true but it has so much to tell. Your children will learn through reading. My family really enjoyed reading this story. The author also included a list of things to have ready at the end of the book. So much was to be learned as well as fun to be had. I look forward to reading and learning more about Oscar and Emmy.

Oscar and Emmy’s First Christmas is the fifth book in the Oscar and Emmy series by Terri Sabol, but takes us right back to the beginning when Oscar and Emmy were kittens, spending their first Christmas with their newly adopted furever family. It is a cute, uplifting children’s story that is woven around some really lovely illustrations. This is an adorable story, and we follow along as the kittens experience all the wonders of Christmas- getting into a little mischief along the way. Climbing the Christmas tree and delighting in all the wonderful holiday additions to the home, and holiday traditions that make Christmas such a special time of the year. It made for a very charming adventure story, with all the trademark touches I have come to expect form Terr Sabol’s stories. The illustrations, as expected, were delightful, interesting, colourful, and engaging. Another heartwarming story to add to the series. And even though this is the fifth book in the series, it could be read as a standalone, without feeling like you are missing anything that has happened in the other books. But having said that, each book contains its own adventure- they are all cute stories that the young, and young at heart, will enjoy reading. My grandson loved reading this book with me and seeing what Oscar and Emmy got up to on their Christmas adventure. Well worth the read. The Series contains (so far): -Oscar and Emmy get rescued (Book #1) -Oscar and Emmy Weather a Hurricane (Book #2) -Oscar and Emmy Visit Grandma (Book #3) -Oscar and Emmy Visit the Vet (Book #4) -Oscar and Emmy’s First Christmas (Book #5) -Oscar and Emmy Gain a Friend (Book #6) -Oscar and Emmy Lose a Friend (Book #7) -Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens (Book #8) Happy Reading…

Oscar and Emmy Weather a Hurricane is the second book in the Oscar and Emmy series by Terri Sabol. This was an interesting children’s adventure story, with an important message about being prepared in the event of a natural disaster. We all know the importance of having emergency kits packed and ready in case a disaster hits, and having all the things we might need packed and stored ready for use. But when you are new to having a pet in your life, you might overlook having an emergency kit packed and ready with all the things that your pet/s will need (as well as all you family’s needs), or just remembering to check the kits regularly and to replace expired items. So, this is a helpful reminder and covers everything you will need to include in a pet emergency kit (things such as food and water, medications, leashes/collars, pet crates, potty supplies etc). The story is inspired by the author’s own experience/s during natural disasters. Another great instalment in the Oscar and Emmy series. The Series contains (so far): -Oscar and Emmy get rescued (Book #1) -Oscar and Emmy Weather a Hurricane (Book #2) -Oscar and Emmy Visit Grandma (Book #3) -Oscar and Emmy Visit the Vet (Book #4) -Oscar and Emmy’s First Christmas (Book #5) -Oscar and Emmy Gain a Friend (Book #6) -Oscar and Emmy Lose a Friend (Book #7) -Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens (Book #8) Looking forward to seeing what other adventures they get up to. Happy Reading…

We have enjoyed several of Oscar and Emmy’s adventures and this one has a little deeper meaning. I like that Terri has written a tale about animals and what it is to be prepared for them in an emergency situation. We are able to find many things in regard to preparation for humans but little for our furry friends. This fun tale is aimed at children aged 3 – 9 years and is told through the POV of kittens and children. It shares the importance of what is happening, being safe and prepared, having loving friends around you in a scary time and helping others. Adults could learn a thing or two as well. As always, the illustrations by Natalie Merheb are beautifully done and bring the story to life.

I absolutely love the Oscar and Emmy series. Sabol does such a great job of teaching pet responsibility in such a way that children, and adults alike, forget they are learning. This time Oscar and Emmy have to weather a hurricane and all of the scary things that come with that. Abby and Charlie quickly learn what it takes to not only keep themselves safe during severe weather but also their pets. Sabol does such a great job informing her readers with fantastic information from reliable sources. Reviewed by @meggs1717

Terri Sabol is an accomplished children’s book author, renowned for her heartwarming and entertaining stories featuring the real-life adventures of her two beloved rescue kittens, Oscar and Emmy. Born and raised in Texas, Terri developed a love of writing and storytelling at a young age, and always dreamed of one day becoming an author. Thinking that was out of reach, she focused on her other dream… teaching.
After graduating from college with a Masters degree in education, Terri worked as an early childhood teacher, and it was during this time that her passion for picture books truly blossomed. She was inspired by the joy and wonder that children experienced when reading and listening to stories, and it was this love for inspiring young minds that led her to create her own series of children’s books.
Terri’s debut book, “Oscar and Emmy Get Rescued”, was published in 2016, and told the heartwarming story of how she came to adopt her two kittens from the animal shelter where she volunteered. The book was an instant hit with children and parents alike, and it quickly became clear that there was a demand for more stories featuring Oscar and Emmy and to help educate children on the importance being involved in pet care.
Over the years, Terri has continued to write new books in the series, each one capturing the unique personalities and quirks of her two adventurous cats. Her books not only entertain children, but also promote the values of compassion and kindness towards animals, as well as the importance of rescue and adoption.
In addition to her Oscar and Emmy series, Terri has also written several other books showing off her writing skills, including “Green With Envy” and “Kneading a Winning Idea”.
When she’s not writing, Terri can be found spending time with her two rescue kitties, Oscar and Emmy. She also loves travelling and exploring new places and visiting old favorites, all the while taking inspiration for her next book. Through her stories, Terri hopes to inspire children to explore the world around them, to embrace their imaginations, to never give up on their goals, and to always be kind and compassionate towards others, especially animals.

Yet another book that I wish every shelter and rescue could have 🐾❣️
Having been involved myself with feral care and fostering this story really touched me and the thing is children are like sponges and if we can get the mindset right at the foundations then we have great building blocks for the future ….
Adopting and fostering is a big step and this book and it’s illustrations explain everything so beautifully and both adults and children can learn so much from this read 🐾❣️📚lessons in caring and nurturing is given but also the harder part , letting go to their new homes and that’s a life lesson that is both heartbreaking and rewarding 🥰
I’d love to have copies in my school library to share with my little friends !

Oscar and Emmy’s family have started to volunteer at their local animal shelter where they read to the residents there who are waiting to be adopted.
One day, they bring some tiny kittens’ home with them, and Oscar and Emmy immediately lend a hand by helping them to settle into home life and treat these temporary residents like family, or at least until they are adopted by another family.
This is a lovely book about how to start looking at fostering young kittens, what goes into looking after them and the responsibilities involved, and it is done in an easy-to-understand way which everyone can learn from.
Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens by Terri Sabol is part of the Oscar and Emmy Series. This was the first book I have ever read in this series. It is so cute and educational. We follow Charlie and Abby twin siblings who love their cats Oscar and Emmy. The family decides to foster baby kittens. The story is so cute and heartwarming. It also helps explains to kids in an easy-to-understand way the responsibilities that go into fostering an animal. While also showing how rewarding it can be. This is a great read for young children. Especially to help them understand the concept of fostering. The illustrations were also really cute. This is a 5 out of 5 stars for me!

I have loved all of the books in this series, but this one may just be my favorite! I read it with my 8-year-old and 12-year-old kiddos who also loved it. I feel like the author does an amazing job explaining the process of fostering animals and not just including only the fun parts. We always love the illustrations and these beautiful pictures fit in well with the rest of the series. It promotes reducing the crowds in animal shelters and explains how much fostering benefits everyone involved! I highly recommend picking up this lighthearted but incredibly educational book on fostering kitties. It would be a wonderful fit for your home or your classroom!
Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens Is part of the Oscar and Emmy series. It is designed for children between the ages of 5 and 10 years of age. Twins Charlie and Abby have discussed with their mom the opportunity of fostering animals while they volunteer at an animal shelter. When they get the chance to foster three kittens, they learn both the joys and responsibilities of fostering animals. The children learn about responsibility, compassion, and nurturing not just a kitten, but this could be applied to all pets. As with all the books in this series, the author does an amazing job of teaching children about the responsibilities of pet ownership. The bright colorful illustrations really help to bring the story to life.

Cute and informative book! Charlie and Abby volunteered at the shelter, reading to cats. After their first day, they talked to mom about fostering cats, after explaining to the twins what it would entail they agreed to do it. The kids took care of 4 day old kittens with the help of their Cats Oscar and Emmy for the next 12 weeks feeding them, teaching them how to use the litter box, etc…. At 12 weeks, they started interviewing families and got to choose which families take them home. It would be a perfect book to read to kiddos and explain how fostering works out. It’s definitely a great book.

A well written book about fostering kittens that children can read and understand. Abby and Charlie hear about the need for people to foster kittens. After talking about it with their parents, and discussing how their cats Oscar and Emmy might react, they foster 3 kittens to help the kittens get used to being around people and other cats. The kids in the story understand why fostering is needed and learns how rewarding it is while it also can be a lot of work. The illustrations are beautiful and make it easy for the kids to follow. I have read a few books by the author and appreciate how well written it is for young readers.
I read Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens with my 7 year old before bed, initially my 9 year old declined joining us. Shortly after overhearing the first couple pages, my animal loving son was excited to join in. This was a great story to teach fostering and it’s importance all while appealing to young children in a fun way. The kids and I really enjoyed taking turns reading this book and we will be reading more about Oscar and Emmy in the future for sure.
Oscar and Emmy’s humans, Abby and Charlie with the help of Mom, discover how to care for newborn kittens. The family learns what it takes to prepare and foster kittens until they find their furever homes.
Cute story that tells about the responsibilities of fostering kittens. Age-appropriate pictures and wording.
Parent Readers Beware- Your kiddo will likely ask to foster kitten by the end of Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens. I read this book with my 8 year old, and that was his first question, followed by disappointment when mom said no. We have read a couple of books in the series, and always love them. They are great learning tools, but perhaps I should not have chosen this particular topic lol. The illustrations are great- colorful and assist the story. Oscar and Emmy are the cats belonging to twins Abby and Charlie. Their family volunteers at the cat shelter, then decide to step it up a notch and foster a litter of newborn kittens. We are taken through the adventure, learning a little about the process and the growth and development of the kittens. I love that the book addresses the topic of “foster fails” and their mother had an excellent response when asked about keeping them.

Oscar and Emmy love reading to the kittens at the local shelter. When they hear they can foster kittens, they become excited. Their mother finds out exactly what will be needed to foster pets. The author really brings fostering to light. Her story leaves nothing out. Opening the eyes of all interested in helping to foster any pets. The story is clearly written and easy for children to follow. I loved that the children fell in love with the kittens. Even more that the mother talked about not being able to keep the kittens, and helping others, including their own grown cats. Great story and a must have for all libraries.
Another lovely book from this author about caring for cats in the community. This time Oscar and Emmy, and their human family are helping to take care of foster kittens for a local shelter. I don’t think it matter which country you live in there is a huge cat problem from people not neutering their cats at an appropriate age. I myself, in the UK, foster cats/pregnant mum cats and kittens for a local charity so I love that this book is out there for readers to see how important foster work is in the animal sector. The books went through all the responsibilities of looking after kittens and it was written well. The story was accompanied by beautiful illustrations. One thing I will say is do not underestimate the work that goes in hand-rearing kittens – it’s hard work! A great book that’s raising awareness for the need of foster homes for abandoned and stray cats.
This was a cute little story. It was not only entertaining but also informative. I enjoyed learning about what is involved with fostering kittens. This book could inspire children to explore this opportunity and really help shelters everywhere. I recommend this book to anyone with children who love to read and who want to learn more about kittens and how to foster them.
Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens (Oscar and Emmy Series) by Terri Sabol. These books are so fun and educational. This one takes on fostering kittens and all the work and time it takes. Charlie & Abby are learning so much about kittens and fostering. They learn that it takes a lot of time and patience and work. It teaches children that animals are not disposable and that all the shelters are full. This is such a cute, warm story filled with love and compassion. Suitable for young children and the pictures are beautiful! Great for teachers of young children or families!
Beautiful book, the artwork is lovely. I really like how this book showcases how fostering kittens works, the work that goes into taking care of the kittens and the adoption process. There are some things I learned as an adult that I didn’t know before. I didn’t know that when the kittens are still young the mom licks the kitten to encourage bowel movements. Everything is laid out nicely in a timeline from birth until 12 weeks when they get adopted, with updates on the kittens and how they are growing. It is a very clever idea to have the kitten care list for families taking care of kittens. All over a great and informative read!
“Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens” by Terri Sabol is a heartwarming tale that will delight readers of all ages. The story follows the adventures of two adorable foster kittens named Oscar and Emmy as they navigate their new surroundings with curiosity and charm. Sabol’s delightful prose and charming illustrations capture the playful antics and tender moments of kittenhood with warmth and affection. Through their journey, readers will be reminded of the joy and love that pets bring into our lives. “Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens” is a delightful read that celebrates the bond between humans and animals, perfect for anyone looking for a cozy and uplifting story with enthralling illustrations.
