I loved how the author jumped us right into the story and then sprinkled the backstory in and she wove an amazing paranormal story. The writing style keeps you on the edge of your seat from the get go, wanting to learn more about what happened and what will happen. Gwen is a fabulous heroine, strong, fierce and sassy. She is the type of character that you would want to go get a drink with and see what happens. The author has created a wonderful world full of paranormal creatures mixed in with regular humans. I absolutely can’t wait to read the prequel book and what comes next from the author!

Return to Hoodoo is the first book in the Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue Series (Audiobook) and my first book by this narrator. I’m fairly new to this author but I’m definitely a fan and will be checking out what other books they have written. I literally listened to this book in one sitting the narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life and keeping my attention throughout the story. I found myself on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. This narrator had me feeling like I was apart of the story right from the start. I highly recommend listening to this fast paced story to find out is three times a charm as lucky as you think it is? I look forward to reading/listening to more books by this author.

I just love to find new authors and new sereies. With this being said I also love when the books have an audiobook version as well. This is a great way to be able to do your everyday chores and get lost in the world created by the author. This book was the first from this author that I have listened to and I was not let down at all. I really enjoy paranormal style books and this was a great change to my usual genre. I like how the author brings the characters to life. The story line in the book really flows well as well as the characters chemistry is really explosive.
This book really has a great underlying topic and I am really glad that an author really chose to use it. I cannot wait to be able to read the next enstallment in this series. The narrator chosen really brought this book to life and I loved the charisma brought to the character. I will definitely be getting more audio as well as proper books from this author in future.
This is the 6th book in The Talisman series. I really enjoyed this paranormal romance. This is a story of good vs evil with hints of celtic mythology. It involves fated mates, magic, a curse, a one man’s search for survival and redemption by finding his fated mate (Talisman). This story is action packed and the author has a unique way of writing that grips and reader and doesn’t let you go. I would recommend reading the books in order so you can get the full story with regards to the evil that has cursed the warriors and what it means. This story is told from several points of view which keeps the story engaging and moving forwards at a fast pace. I love the main characters of Delany and Baz. They are both strong characters fighting for and protecting the people they care about. When they meet they are enemies but what do you do when you realise that your enemy could possible the fated mate you’ve been searching for your whole life.
This story is full of action packed adventure and a romance that is so special that I couldn’t put it down until the end. It was one story that I completely lost myself to and really enjoyed.

Esprit de Corpse is the first in the Twins of Bellesfeés series by E.F. Deal. It is a highly original story full of imaginative details and intriguing elements. This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I really didn’t know what to expect going in. The blurb enticed me enough to want to find out what the story would hold- so I soon found myself tagging along for the adventure. This is a speculative steampunk fantasy with mystery, alternate history, secrets, high stakes, the paranormal/supernatural, agendas, action, ticking clock, family dynamics, science, danger, drama, emotion, secret agents, spies, and more. I found it to be quite interesting, with wonderful world-building and rich details and descriptions that really brought the whole story to life. Twins, Jacqueline and Angelique find themselves thrust into an adventure full of mystery as they scramble to try to stop a war. What happens makes for a fun read, and all the dramatic developments kept me turning the pages to see how everything would play out in the end. Happy Reading…

This was a good five star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning. Baz is a rogue who surrendered to Morrigan. When he finds out the truth he devises a plan. He also meets Delaney who throws him for a loop, he finally found his mate. Their connection was off the charts. Will Baz follow through on his plans? Will he get the HEA with his mate? I really enjoyed the characters, they were both very strong. The author does a great job with her writing. We get multiple POV in this read, I really enjoy that so you can see what everyone’s thinking. We get action, adventure, magic and so much more in this read. If you’re looking for a great series to read, 1-click and get started on this one.

Return to Hoodoo is the first book I’ve read by Reggi Dupree but will not be my last! I really enjoyed this author’s writing and character building. I hope there are many more books coming to this series. I really connected with Gwen’s character. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Definitely worth the read!

What a fantastic beginning to new series. I listened too this on audiobook and was pulled in right away. The narrator did exceptionally well with reading this story and the characters. I loved Gwen, she is absolute hoot and there are so many things that you cant wait to find out about.. Excellent book.

Esprit de Corpse is a paranormal, steampunk story that grabbed my attention in the first few pages. Jacqueline and her sister Angélique encounter a malfunctioning automaton on the Paris-Orléans railway. Jacqueline is intrigued because the automaton is not powered by normal means. Can the sisters solve the mystery behind the automaton? I enjoy historical fiction with a Victorian flair, which hits all the buttons. The characters are interesting and well-developed. Also, the story drew me in from the very beginning. This is the first book I have read by this author but hope to read more by them. I have always been fascinated by stories with automatons, and I was intrigued by the concepts used for this story. I hope to read more about Jacqueline and Angelique soon.

This is an imaginative and well written historical steam punk novel that was so much more than I was expecting. This book is so detailed and well thought through that I found myself hooked when reading it. It has some many different elements to it and the author weaved them all together so well. this genre wouldn’t necessarily be my go to genre but after reading this book I would hesitate to read another piece of work from this author. This was a brilliant book that I would highly recommend.

I jumped into this one and had to finish it in one setting. Somehow, Jacqueline’s twin sister is a she-wolf, and they find an automaton. I saw hints of steampunk and a bit of paranormal with suspense. Oh, this was such a fun treat. I have not had the pleasure of reading anything like this. It will make you chuckle and had has a few surprises. There are adventures, some drama and a bit of romance. A story that flows well, has entertaining characters and a plot that comes together just right sure does make for a must read.

This intriguing tale is set in 1840’s France and is full of Ef Deal’s imagination of many unusual and unique marvels. Having been to France it’s easy to imagine the world in which Ef Deal has created. What is really in the underground of the Parisian world. Jacky loves tinkering anything mechanical is her thing. But when she comes across a mechanical man everything changes. Suddenly she and her sister Angé find themselves trying to unravel the mystery and stop a war. With wolf shifters, British agents, French spies, not to mention an occult they soon find themselves in danger when things turn dicey. The plot and subplots keep you on your toes as we journey along with the characters and their exciting world. If you like steampunk, something a little different and unusual you will definitely like Esprit de Corpse.

If you are a vampire lover you need to read this. A new perspective of our beloved story. This is told from the point of view of a different character in the series. This gives us new insight on some of the things seen on previous books. I personally like when there are different perspectives of stories that are interesting. definitely a great addition to the series.

This is the first book I have read by Tam DeRudder Jackson; the original synopsis drew me to this story immediately. Within the first few pages the story developed into so much more than I expected, while Baz is a rogue it is not exactly by choice. Taking the best option in a bad situation he has been a rogue now for three years, but his key goal is to introduce a new class of Celtic fighters outside of the current black and white status of warriors and rogues. Reading that a warrior has until their 28th birthday I thought it was some type of trinket but meeting Delaney you quickly learn that it is the fated mate of a warrior, she is his talisman. Working for the war goddess Morrigan is not an easy task but it’s better than allowing her to kill you the day of your birthday when you fail to find your talisman. While Baz completes every mission Morrigan gives him, she is not his true patroness, and he has an alternative goal in his life. He wants to go to one of the many other deities and start a third class of Celtic fighters, mercenaries, with him as their leader. Morrigan has her rogues hunting the Sheridan family warriors though, it is through Delaney’s perspective you learn why. A Sheridan ancestor denied the goddess’s offer to go to bed with her, being that they are descendants of a clan of demigods they can survive a night in her bed without dying from the experience. A thousand-year curse finally broken by Rowan and Alyssa Sheridan’s wedding giving rogues and talismans until the age of forty-two to find each other, which is a huge thing considering they originally only had seven years to find each other between the sign ceremony and their 28th birthday. Delaney now has hope once again for the first time in two years that she may still have a chance at love and happiness. Baz while pondering the possibility he wonders more so how it could affect his ultimate mission. When given the opportunity to move and have a training room for his rogues he takes the chance leading to the unexpected. Will Baz succeed in getting his own class of fighters? How do Delaney and Baz find each other? Is their bond strong enough to save her? The incredible world the author creates pulls you in on page one and continues to build until the very end. I found myself feeling the irritation and shock with the characters and the ultimate fear and love Delaney and Baz feel when she is robbed of her memories. This is a page turner from start to finish and is a refreshing read. Instead of the young coming of age stories of olde this book is with older characters in their early thirties getting the chance to find their warrior and talisman. I look forward to reading more of this amazing series very soon.

Fallen Soul was such an amazing read! It exceeded my expectations and is so wonderfully written. I did read this book as a standalone, but after enjoying it so much I am on my way to pick up the first three in the series now. Lane feeds on his own kind which is not allowed so he is a wanted vampire. He has succeeded in being invisible for so long until he runs into a different group of vampires. None of them are trying to kill him. They even live with humans instead of feeding on and killing them. Can he trust them, or will he end up being their enemy as well? The author has such a mesmerizing way of telling the story and it flows so well. I was pulled into this world so quickly and now I really hope there is plenty more of this series!

This book is book 4 in the ‘War of Destiny’ series. Usually the main character is a part of the ka-tet that has been the main focus of the series, this time it follows Lane.
Lane is a rogue vampire. Alone for years with a bounty on his head from Valentino, the king of vampires himself, for feeding off his fellow vampire. He sees himself as a monster and thinks he is doing a service by killing off other monsters. Other vampires fear him and think he is insane, that is until he meets Julia.
Julia is the first vampire in years to not know who he is and what he is capable of. This makes her intriguing to Lane. After this encounter he keeps running into her no matter where he goes. It’s as if it is destiny that Lane and the lives of Julia and the rest of the ka-tet keep crossing paths. The more he learns about this group, the more questions he has. Valentino and the vampire hunters are also hunting Julia for reasons unknown to Lane. He is willing to defend the group but can he trust them or are they just like the others and want him dead?
I have read all the books in the series so far and I think this one is my favourite. Lane is so used to being alone that he is scared to trust. The author does a really good job portraying the struggle within. Lane hates what he is and what he has done in the past. If he can’t love himself how can anyone else?

Finally a book that is both empowering and funny! Return To Hoodoo made me smile cover to cover! Truly unique and fun! I can’t get my hands on book 2 quick enough! This series would truly make great TV! It reminds me of a show called “Midnight Texas” that I used to watch with my dad! It made me feel so nostalgic! Return To Hoodoo is both witty and comical with magnetic characters that Reggi Dupree makes feel more than real! I love the representation! We need so much more of that in the world today! I promise you won’t regret picking up this book! Highly recommend it to all fantasy lovers!

This book is the fourth in a series. While this technically could be read without reading the other books, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are a lot of characters, and it is a continuation of an overall story. This book is almost a retelling of book three. The first three books follow Julia’s point of view. This one follows Lane who Julia meets in book 3. We get to see the rest of what was going on during the third book. I completely enjoyed this one as an avid reader of the series. I have enjoyed all four in the series and am anxiously awaiting the rest of the story. If you haven’t read the series, go read it!

Lane Marlow is a vampire, but unlike most others, he lives alone and prefers his own company, but it is much more than that, not long after he was turned, he was forced to abandon the country of his birth and while discovering what it meant to have this new life, he was eventually shunned for the way he decided to live it, by feeding off of other vampires. At this time, the way Lane lived had made its way to the King of the vampires, Valentino and he wasn’t very impressed in the slightest, so he ordered his Council to apprehend Lane and deliver him to his prison cells, it was here that he was condemned to death, but Lane had other ideas and he escaped.
Nobody knows quite what happened to Lane in Valentino’s care, or how exactly he escaped and Lane keeps his cards very close to his chest, so he allows the rumours to follow him because it made his life easier in one way, but harder in another. All of this has led Valentino to decree that any vampire who sees Lane must kill him on site, but Lane isn’t easy to kill, so to keep his sanity in tact, he decides to return to his homeland, but makes a pit stop in Rome, this is where he runs into Valentino’s Council members again, but they aren’t the only ones.
As he is hunting, Lane comes across a group of vampires who are not what they seem and do not live like other vampires, they live with humans and they aren’t all scared of him, plus the most mystifying of all is that they don’t attack him onsite, in fact they help him! Lane is struggling to wrap his head around him, but colour him intrigued, he wants to know more, could this lead to an uneasy, but welcomed alliance, or are they just playing him and stringing along like others in his past and become just another obstacle to his return home? This is another fantasy adventure which is full of supernatural beings and danger which lurks in every shadow, where stories are exchanged and futures are uncertain, when the pasts bleeds into them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in a new paranormal women’s fiction series, and it had me captivated from start to finish. Main character Gwen Carter is not happy having been summoned to her hometown of Hoodoo, Texas, and gained a second magical disability. Having accepted an inheritance which was too complicated to refuse, Gwen is then a witness to a murder by black magic. When Gwen finds herself at the top of the suspect list, she fears that she won’t be able to break her family’s curse. It’s not just her family legacy at stake if she can’t prove that she’s not behind the murders, it’s her life. Gwen is convinced that the current murders are actually connected to the one that made her leave her home in shame. This is an enjoyable and engaging supernatural thriller, with a wonderful main character, Gwen who is both likeable and relatable. The descriptive narrative brings both the characters and the setting vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the storyline.

I really enjoy how this story continued. The characters are very well developed and the author’s style keeps you engaged. Fallen Soul is Book 4 in the War of Destiny Series. If you have not yet read the first books, I highly recommend reading them or you may feel a bit lost without all of the details of Lane or the others. Decades after being turned into a vampire Lane is still on the run after being condemned for feeding off his own kind. After escaping Valentino, King of the Vampires, Lane has a target on his back. Rumors have been circulated about him being crazy so it has forced Lane to be a loner. Valentino has ordered for Lane to be killed on sight but somehow, he manages to elude or kill anyone that tries to murder him. Lane attempts to flee to Ireland but gets discovered in Rome.
As Lane attempts to flee to a safer place he stumbles onto a group of vampires who are not the same as any other vampire he has ever encountered. These vampires do not flee from him, nor do they try to kill him. Not only that, but these vampires live with humans. Lane must decide if these vampires are allies or if they are more cunning than other vampires and intend to deter him from reaching his destination. Will Lane continue his journey solo or has he found friends in this group?
I have read this series from the first book and became invested in the characters and the story. The author does an amazing job with writing vivid scene descriptions that make the reader feel as though you are there with the characters. The characters are wonderful, and it was interesting to read how they developed through the story from book to book. Lane was a loner right from the beginning as he was shunned after being turned into a vampire. He was on the run, constantly looking over his shoulder and unable to trust anyone. It was interesting to see what Lane would decide to do when he meets a group of vampires unlike any that he has ever met. It forces him to make some difficult decisions about his future. A great vampire paranormal series.

This is the 4th book in the War of Destiny series. This is a gripping and engaging vampire story. I would definately recommend reading these books from the beginning so you get the full story. The author does an amazing job with the writing which makes this paranormal adventure story seem almost possible. Lane has been through so many trials and troubles since becoming a vampire. He has been forced to escape his home land after the vampire King wanted his head. But now Lane has decided he wants to return home. What follows is Lane’s story of him finding his way home but the path isn’t an easy one. With a bounty over his head he doesn’t know who he can and can’t trust. Everyone is out for his. So he is thrown off guard when he meets a strange woman and a group of vampires who don’t try and kill him and don’t run from him. Is this a group of vampires he can trust or are they just playing him for another reason
This is a story of danger at every turn, chaos and fighting for your life. There are some sections of violence which maybe too much for some people to read bit overall I loved this story and the character growth in this series.

Wow! What an amazing read this was. I read this book in a day. Fallen Soul will grab your attention from the very first page til the last one. The world building and characters was well thought out. This book was very unpredictable and it makes you wanting to know what happens next. I highly recommend you checking out this series. I also recommend starting with the first book before reading the rest!

Lane Marlow is a wanted vampire and has been for decades. He has been forced to travel and survive on his own due to Valentino’s edict to kill him on sight. When he is surprised one night by a vampire named Julia that doesn’t know him, isn’t scared of him, and actually apologizes to him for catching him off guard -which has never happened before- he is intrigued. It’s been a long time since anyone was even remotely close to being friendly with him. As he gets to know Julia and her group, he finds himself at a crossroads. He could help them or stay out of their power struggles with Valentino. However, could this be the answer to ending his forced solitary lifestyle? Could they actually become friends??
This book is Lane’s perspective of what happened in book 3 of this series. I appreciated that the author gave him his own book so that the reader could get a different point of view of what happened AND gave us backstory on how Lane came to be a feared loner. I feel like the thought process of someone that has been on his own for a long time was captured well. I am looking forward to the next book to see what happens next.

Suspenseful fantasy This is the fourth book in the War of Destiny series. I really enjoyed this instalment. Lane is an intense and intriguing character. The storyline continues from the previous books with so many layers cleverly interwoven creating an amazing paranormal fantastical adventure. Highly recommend.

It’s fantastic! Literally, a dark fantasy with all the elements you live and want. Mystery, monsters, and mayhem. The author’s writing style is unique, and it continues in this book to grab you by the throat. Great character development, twisty not sure what’s going to happen plot, and the delivery I have come to expect from this author. Great fantasy series!

Another great book by an amazing author. Perfect way to continue the series. I was hooked again by the characters and the plot of the book. This book was an entertaining read. The author knows how to make you want more and more with each turn of the page. I highly recommend this book.
