This was a great Thanksgiving story for children about how a turkey can be eaten for Thanksgiving or pardoned. I recommend this book to families who make want to share with their little ones that there are traditions but also that each person is allowed to deviate from those traditions if they see fit.

Pardon Me, Please by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Codi Parham
You learn something new every day. One thing I love about Wickstrom is that her books are usually educational. I learned facts about Turkeys that I never knew before. This book is a great read for humans and animals of any age.
We read this just in time for Thanksgiving. My kids loved it. They even helped me read it. It was such a cute, heartwarming story to read together with them. Lucky for me it didn’t change their minds on eating turkey for dinner, I wasn’t prepared for that!!!
I saw the cover and the premise for this and just had to read it. Perfect for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Albert is a turkey that lives on a turkey farm. As the holidays grow nearer, people are looking at Albert and not to be a pet.
One day, Albert sees the President on the T.V. where he announces pardons. Albert wonders if the President will pardon so he wont be someone’s dinner.
I went into this, thinking it was going to be funny but I finished it with a more open mind. Albert tries to communicate with the family that picks him, to not eat him. He wants to be the pardoned turkey this year so that he does not end up on a family’s table.
This is more than what the title and cover suggests and I am glad that I read this. I will have to read more of this authors’ books.
Albert is a turkey and lives on a turkey farm, he knows that he will probably be eaten at thanksgiving like all of the other turkeys there, but he doesn’t want to be, which turkey would?
So when a family start to look at him, he knows what is coming, so he does everything he can to change their minds. While he is thinking of what to do, he sees on a tv in the shop, that the President has pardoned his thanksgiving turkey, can he get this family to do the same for him and let him live in Turkey Pardon Park for the rest of his days?
This is a story which has an interesting premise and is done in a way that is fun and educational all at the same time, a good book for young and old alike.
Albert is a turkey who lives at a farm. There is a family shopping at the farm and they begin to examine him. Albert uses his physical features to display his emotions as he listens to the family discuss his fate. Albert really likes the talk about the President of the U.S. pardoning his turkey. This is a cute little story that uses personification to possibly introduce a new tradition into the Thanksgiving celebration of American families.

Almost everyone eats turkey on Thanksgiving but Albert the turkey hopes that he is not one of the turkey’s that get eaten. When a family picks him out to buy, he tries to communicate with the family and not be their dinner. As the family tries to figure out what they plan to do with Albert he tries to find a way to get them to understand his wishes. This is an interesting way to introduce some dialogue to children about animal welfare and the different things that people eat. It does not push any agenda, but I would find it hard to explain how the turkey that this family is buying turns into dinner to young readers. That may be going a little deep bit there are children who will ask these kinds of questions. It was nice to see how the story involves the whole family making the decision.
Pardon Me, Please was a great book to read with my daughter (6 yr) as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday. She enjoyed the book and has had me read it more than once to her since. It’s so important as a parent (or at least this parent) to have a well written story that doesn’t take forever to read at bedtime. Pardon Me was fun and to the point with creative tricks to try to get that pardon.
A good short quick kid book. Perfect with Thanksgiving around the corner. Pardon the turkey and take the turkey to turkey park. Taking it to the turkey park because the family isn’t going to eat it. I love this author. Looking forward to reading more books from this author.
Pardon me, Please was a cute Thanksgiving book. The illustrations are colorful and cute. I read the book to my 7 year old. He enjoyed it and was happy with the decision the family made. After we read the book, my son wanted to look up if the story was true. I had never heard of the president pardoning turkeys, but it seems it’s been going on for decades. It was a creative way to teach young kids about history and traditions. We read up on the start of the tradition. We both learned something new. Cute book for younger elementary school aged kiddos.

This book is so timely for thanks giving. Albert is a Turkey at a Turkey farm and a family comes to purchase Turkey for Thanks giving. Albert knows from the television that the president has just pardoned a Turkey and wishes that this family pardons him too. He tries to be kind and flaunts his feathers. Then the family come together to vote for a very important consensus , to pardon the turkey or not. This is a very timely book, and I really enjoyed it. The illustrations are bright, vivid and colorful and the message is nicely passed. Hope there are more such books which promote animal love.
Another gem from Lois, a wonderful story to warm your heart. This tale is so timely and perfectly explains thanksgiving turkeys. Its also full of beautiful vivid illustrations.
This is another fun and entertaining story by an author that has become one of our families favourites. We loved the premise of this book and the perspective it was told from. As usual the book was illustrated so well. The pictures really bring the story and the characters to life and make it even better to read. This author has become one that I won’t hesitate to read as her books really do bring joy to the whole family. I can’t wait for the next book.
This is a great children’s book that teaches about pardoning a Thanksgiving turkey! A family goes to buy their turkey. The youngest daughter remembers that the president pardons a turkey at Thanksgiving. Will the turkey they find get pardoned?
I loved this book! Albert the turkey is a cute character. He has a problem, though – a family wants to buy him for Thanksgiving dinner. I enjoyed reading this book to my son. We were excited to see if Albert found a solution to his problem. I would recommend this book for early independent readers as well as reading aloud to young children.

This was such a cute story. It held the attention of my youngest autistic son for the entire thing. We typically don’t eat turkey during the holidays either, but he wants us to do the same thing…

This was a cute book! I liked the illustrations in the book and the sentiment of the story. It was cute, sweet and straight to the point. I think this is a cute book for the holidays and I would highly recommend it to read to your kids!
Lovely story of learning the meaning of a pardon. Great characters and story line. I love the illustration and the flow of the story. This author is great, and I love reading her books over and over again. Recommend to all sitters, teachers and parents of young children.

My 5yo son and I read this story together. He thought the turkey in the story was adorable. He loved that it had a happy ending. He was very happy that we eat ham for Thanksgiving. haha It was a good story with good characters. We loved the illustrations.
A family arrives and purchases Albert the Turkey for their Thanksgiving feast. Albert tries his best to show he is worth having a pardon like he saw the President do to another turkey.
This is a fun story that incorporates voting into Thanksgiving turkey farms. A good lesson about even though their are traditions sometimes not everything has to be set in stone.

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Pardon Me, Please is a fantastic read for families. This book was short and sweet. The author has a way with words.
A family goes to a Turkey farm to get their Thanksgiving dinner. When they get there they find that the President has pardoned his turkey. The little girl wants to know if they can do the same. I couldn’t choose a quote for any of the characters.
What a beautiful story this is. And the lesson it tells made me so happy. As an animal lover I fell in love with this book. If only all turkeys had the ending this one did getting sent to a Pardon Park. I thought that the idea of the family making the decision together after voting was a terrific addition to add because you do not see many families doing that. So technically this story teaches not only of how turkeys are pardoned by our President but also about voting to get a consensus. I loved the illustrations! They were probably some of the best that I have seen from her books. That could be because I love fall and since this story takes place in November there is a lot of fall to see. Remarkable story.
Cute story perfectly in time for the upcoming holiday. The story follows a turkey as he goes through a varying degree of emotions. He wants chosen but to be a pet not food. Will he survive this Thanksgiving season?
This author comes up with wonderfully imaginative stories and this one is no exception. The pages are colorful and reflect the storytelling perfectly. A fun story for kids of all ages.

This is a cute story filled with colourful pictures. The perfect time to read, close to Thanksgiving. Albert lives on a turkey farm and knows that the people who visit are not looking for a pet. He doesn’t want to be eaten! He just wants to live a long and happy life. A family purchases him but can he convince them not to eat him? This is a good book to open discussions pertaining to Thanksgiving and alternate meals that can be made. I believe it is a story that children will enjoy.

This is a cute story about a Thanksgiving turkey, Albert, who gets pardoned by the family who buys him for their Thanksgiving dinner. We get to see the point of view of the turkey and his emotions as the family debates what to do. Ultimately, the family decides to vote on it and the turkey gets to go to the Turkey Pardon Park to live out the rest of his days. It’s a cute Thanksgiving story with colorful illustrations.
Lois Wickstrom has done it AGAIN! Her wonderful stories have captivated me, and I find myself not being able to stop reading her stories. This book is thanksgiving themed, and it came out just in time around the holidays, especially because the main character is Albert the turkey! Albert sees on the TV that the president pardons one turkey a year and wishes it a happy long life and that is what he wants too. This story is a cute, wonderful, captivating read that is fun for all ages. Illustrations are always wonderful in her children’s book and just lend a hand to the wonderful storyline. I cannot wait to read this book to my friend’s children and have them fall in love with this wonderful story like I have!

A turkey, Thanksgiving, the president and a Turkey Pardon Park what more could you need to make an interesting tale. It would be interesting to see how Lois comes up with her cute and quirky stories and characters.
We are once again taken on another imaginative adventure in this one a turkey wants more out of his life. Now he just has to convince others that he is worth a pardon.
With bright colourful drawings it is easy to get children involved and interested in the outcome of the tale.
Lois Wickstrom crafted a comical children’s book about a turkey begging for his life. Nicolas Milano crafted adorable and lively illustrations that support the storyline. Albert is at a turkey farm when a family arrives to purchase him, but what will they do with him? I mean, turkey is one of the main food groups at Thanksgiving time. Albert thinks about the president giving him a pardon from being eaten for dinner. Can he convince the family that bought him not to eat him for Thanksgiving dinner? Check out Pardon Me, Please to find out what happens to Albert.
