4 out of 5 Stars

Blaze Knight, what a freaking cool name. If I ever had the desire to change my name, I would want to pick something like like. It just screams, I am a HardA**. Blaze is this books main character, and he is one B.A. He was maimed and tortured by vampires and his mission is to protect what is left of humanity. Not feeling very human himself, Blaze ventures out into the desolate waste ground of America….also known as the Bronx. When the demons from his past come raging back, he is determined to get an eye for an eye and have his revenge.

He meets and joins up with Valerie Medeiros, an NYPD detective who has demons of her own, be they more mental than actual demons. These two perfectly tormented people are drawn together like the opposite points of a magnet. Val tries her hardest to ressit and with the bloodshed that is happening around them, she really should be focusing on staying alive, but when outside forces are pushing her and Blaze together…who is she to deny that?

I loved this book. I tossed with giving it 5 stars, but I felt that it was a bit to fast paced for me. I had to go back and reread few passages and the relationship between Valerie and Blaze was not moving as fast and I would have liked, but that is my personal opinion, that, and I am also highly impatient.

Releasing the Demons (The Order of the Senary Series, #1) by L.D Rose – Review by Angela Hayes

“Fifty-three years ago, a vampire took the podium at a G20 summit in London and decided to show the world exactly how real he was. Needless to say, no one human came out of that building alive. Since the Insurgency, the entire United States’ justice system restructured itself to target monsters. Both Valerie and Deron had undergone intensive training to combat vampires. To fight like them, hunt like them and think like them in order to take them down. Although the NYPD did more than their share of wiping the scum off the face of the earth, it seemed like the vampires’ numbers only doubled. With every leech they took out, two more appeared in its place.
But Valerie and Deron kept on going, kept chugging through the endless days and nights. Giving up wasn’t an option for either one of them.”

Releasing the Demons is the first book in The Order of the Senary series by L.D Rose. This was the authors debut novel, although she has since written more books. It is a wonderfully original paranormal romance that is a little bit like a cross between X-Men, Buffy, and Blade. There is plenty of action, violence danger and adventure as the story unfolds. This was a great story- well written with a multi-layered plot that kept me engrossed the whole time. The hidden agendas and sinister forces added an extra element of tension and intrigue- while the vampire/human conflict gave the whole book a slight dystopian feel for me (in a good way).
Blaze Knight is a genetically engineered mercenary with paranormal abilities- a hybrid who is on a mission to eradicate vampires and protect the human population. He is tormented by his memories of torture and unimaginable horror at the hands of his vampire captors 5 years earlier- as he endured 7 months of hell, wishing for oblivion, before finally being rescued. Now he wreaks his revenge while still trying to put what happened behind him. Circumstances occur that thrust him in the life of a feisty NYPD detective, and his world is tipped on its axis.
Valerie Medeiros is a highly trained Detective, who along with her partner, works to keep the vampires from decimating the humans in the city. The human crime rate was non-existent, but the same can’t be said for the vampires. She lost her sister in the most gruesome way and that fuels her quest against the vampires. When bodies begin to stack up, and things take a perplexing turn, Blaze enters the scene, and danger ramps up that will threaten everything.
Blaze is one of 6 brothers who all have unique abilities. But, what happens when the hunters become the hunted? Will Blaze and Valerie make it through, or will the sinister forces win out in the end?
An original take on the Vampire genre! I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

Thank you, Ms. Rose!

Releasing the Demons (The Order of the Senary #1) by L.D. Rose was a fast pace, heart pounding thriller that had me hooked from start to finish.

My first read by this author and I was hooked within seconds of reading that gruesome opening. What a way to start an as equally gruesome, dark, supernatural thriller, where vampires are real, they aren’t nice, and are slowly taking out humans at night fall. Every morning the death toll goes up, and no matter what the police do, they can’t get a hold on things.

This book was, wow, once I started reading I could not put it down. Blaze, he was truly the star of this book for me. Yeah sure Valerie was pretty cool and kick ass, but Blaze, and what he went through, his character growth was something else, and though this is told in multi POV, I much preferred Blaze’s narrative.

The worlding building and the way the info of this world was giving, felt natural and at no point did I feel like I was being dumped on or confused. Info was giving when necessary, and at times, not knowing made for better suspense for the reader. Though by the end my heart was ready to explode.

Overall this is a A class read and I can’t wait to dive further into this dark, haunting series. This book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

A great read about struggles. The city of New York has been plagued by vampires for a long while. When a man is suspected of being one and murdering a woman, Detective Mendeiros is hot on the trail for justice. But there is more to the story and meeting the man Blaze Knight changes her life forever. Can she find the truth before the killer strikes again?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Blaze with his struggles that were powerfully written but also a caring side underneath or Valerie trying to protect people and solve a mystery. Great supporting cast of fun friends like Deron and Dax with humour the novel needed. A terrific villain that will send shivers up your spine. Fast paced action and high stakes made for a captivating read.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel in the art of tattoos full of detail or the statues and grand buildings of the sire. Or the use of the senses with heat and smell and taste and sight as if you were actually there. I loved the mix of supernatural with vampires and their powers and hierarchy and the sense of a crime thriller with police officers and forensics and realism of coffee shops which was combined perfectly for a captivating read. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

Releasing the Demons by L. D. Rose
This 5-star novel was exciting, and action packed. Vampire hybrids vs regular vampires to keep the human population safe. Vampires have taken over many parts of the world and conquered parts of cities. People are afraid to be out after dark and do their best to not be taken. Blaze is unique and has the control of fire as well as his other amazing hybrid abilities. He struggles to control himself even though it has been years since he was held captive and tortured. He fights his inner Demon the vampire part to keep from falling into the black hole of despair and giving into the desire to feed off the humans. When someone begins targeting him and those who are close to him things heat up. He meets Detective Valarie who seems to get caught in the crossfire. She has a grudge against vampires and seeks to find the one responsible for all the murders that seem to lead straight to Blaze.

The author did an amazing job with this novel. The storyline easily flows and is action packed keeping the readers attention. There is also a touch of Romance between the main characters Detective Valarie and Blaze. The main characters are passionate about what they don in this novel and are easy to like. It was easy to imagen the world in which these individuals lived even though it would be a tad bit scary to have vampires take over like they did.

Wow, Wow, Wow! This book deserves way more than 5 stars!!

Releasing the Demons is Book 1 in The Order of the Senary series from author L.D. Rose. I cannot believe how incredible this read was. I was totally shocked at how captivating and compelled I was while reading this book. This author has created an incredible imaginative read, full of plot twists, incredibly lovable characters and a read that will last with me for quite some time. I was mentally visualising this whole read the entire time – I had withdrawals every time I had to put this book, but I love it so much I read it in one sitting.

This read was dark, thrilling, suspenseful, action packed and I loved every single page within this book. This read had you on the edge of seat with fear, anticipation and hope that they never found Blaze or Valerie. This was a brilliant take on the vampire fantasy world, it made a change for the main theme of the book to be surrounding hybrids they really don’t get as much recognition but after reading this and meeting Blaze and his brothers they have truly made their way into my heart, especially Blaze. After everything he has endured, I’m surprised he is still holding on and fighting. But everything is made even more difficult when. When Valerie enters his life its not in the best way possible – but boy oh boy does she make a lasting impression and change in Blaze, so much so he realises he does have someone more to love for. She makes him feel and he makes her realise that some ‘leeches’ are better than others.

This two have a (literally) hot connection that just continues to grow and their chemistry just continues to bloom. They are made for each other, they bring out the best in each other and you can’t help but love the way she brings Blaze’s walls down and show his vulnerability when around her.

I cannot wait to see what else it brought to this series. Who’s story we will follow next? But I will most definitely be hoping this isn’t the last we get of Blaze & Valerie’s story – as you can tell this is only the beginning.

Releasing the Demons by L.D. Rose is a paranormal romance that is good. The first chapter is compelling and then I was hooked. I love a good PNR and this one is a little on the darker side than usual and it draws you in and you are unable to put it down. Once again this is a different take on the “norm” of vampires and done well. The characters are well fleshed out and L.D’s wordsmithing makes for a really good engaging story.. There is action and arse kicking, yay the good guys. There is humor and heart wrenching moments that found tears. Along with fear and bloody scenes there is family and love no matter who that maybe. I am looking forward to read more of what L.D. has. Can’t wait to read book two.

This is one of those books that pulled me in from the very first sentence. It starts out in such a way that I thought I was jumping into the middle of the series, but it was actually a BRILLIANT way to begin this series. I turned the pages as fast as I could while absorbing all the goodness that this paranormal story has to offer.

The story is one that has very clear lines of good vs evil. Each character is well defined in their role within the story. Like their own little clan of superheros, there are all sorts of “gifts” such as freezing or healing or pyrokinesis, and of course your average, run of the mill psychic/mind reader. There are six “brothers” so I’m sure we will be finding out more about each of these talented men.

The story was very quick paced, it was a multi-layered read that had the perfect blend of romance and revenge and a whole lot of other action in between.

I look forward to reading more in this series.

Releasing the Demons by L.D. Rose a four-star read that will hold you tight. This is the first book in the order of the senary series and it shows certain promise that we will be getting a great series. This will suck you into a world where what goes bump in the night its an intense roller-coaster of emotional reading that will suck you in, wring you out and leave you the other side. Blaze was darkly delicious and tasty in all the right ways, its clear that his history is troublesome and not something he wants to deal with, but in some ways that just makes him that much deeper of a character. Valerie was great person and together they face a hard time and you will be sat on the edge of your seat waiting to hear what they will do next. Overall a great read and I for one cant wait to sink my teeth into the next chapter.

Releasing The Demons (Order of the Senary) by LD Rose is a great example of a dystopian fantasy book.
Blaze and Valerie should be the last thing each of them wants. Blaze because of his past and the scars it has left him with. Valerie because the death of her sister and the mission it provides her. However these are also the very reasons why they need each other.
The same thing has destroyed their lives – vampires. Vampires if responsible for causing each of them pain. Responsible for tearing them apart. And with one of them determined to hunt down Blaze, the two of them need to work together to put an end to their nightmares.
But can each of them overcome what has happened? Can Valerie get over her distaste for the supernatural? Can Blaze overcome his trusts issues after the torture he has suffered. It might be the only chance for them both to move on.

This is the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last. The book had me hooked right from the word go. I was so intrigued by Blaze and everything that had happened to him. And for him to be pursued yet again by his tormentors, I just couldn’t wait to see what would happen. And Valerie was the perfect fit with his character. Everything about them worked so well. I loved the authors writing style, the way the words completely painted the picture in my mind of what was happening. This was a great way to discover a new author and I am excited to read more.

Wow, this book was intense and action packed!!! This is the first book I have read by this author and I was a little unsure because I hadn’t heard anything about the author, I am so glad I decided to give it a chance. I enjoyed reading about Blaze and Valerie. Blaze was tortured for a long time by a vampire and it still haunts him. He is a hybrid mercenary who along with his brothers are hunting and killing as many vampires as they can. Valerie is a police officer who is trying to take down as many vampires as she can because of what they did to her sister. They are brought together by a murder investigation. This book kept me on the edge of my seat with all the action and wanting to know what was going to happen next. This was an awesome read, I loved every minute of it and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. This a must read!!

Blazes story was an amazing opener and had me riveted. But then at times the story felt disconcerting. It seemed jumbled and I was confused as the scenes went from one to another without me realizing where the character was or who they were with. Now this is ONLY in the beginning so don’t stop reading!! As the story moved forward I really struggled to put the book down. I became very engaged in the book. I found myself caring about Blaze! Even wishing for Valerie to find her bliss. I was traumatized by Blaze’s confinement. I can still see how much that affected his thoughts and future daily. I’m not sure how Valerie was able to sneak under his defenses but I am glad she was able. Valerie is a cop and she is one tough cookie. She fights vamps and she’s only human! So when Blaze arrives on scene she cannot fathom a “nice” vampire. She really learned a lot in here….and she doesn’t hesitate to use her gun.

The “brothers” of the Senary are quite interesting. They all have sweet traits although I’m sure they don’t think so. They added some spark to the story and I enjoyed each one. When they are all together….they are like a big joking with a side of scary family. I will be looking for each of their stories.

This is a first time author for me. As previously stated it was choppy at the beginning. But once I got going I couldn’t put this down and devoured it to the end. The story was different (a bit) from other paranormals and the characters have depth. I found myself wanting to know more and more about each one. I am eagerly looking forward to the next in the series.

The first book in The Order of the Senary series, Releasing the Demons, by L.D. Rose is a paranormal romance that starts the story right in the midst and instantly has you addicted into the story. This story is full throttled, high speed that I couldn’t leave the story or else I felt I would miss something – it was that brilliant!! From the characters to the story line, L.D. Rose is right on their game and delivers beyond expectation. From start to finish, the author keeps the reader fully involved in the story. I loved Blaze’s character, definitely one of my favorites within this genre. Not only are there amazing main characters, but the L.D. Rose also has outstanding secondary characters waiting on the sidelines to shine on their own. This is going to be an amazing series.

I love Vampire books and I actually think that this is one of the best that I have read in a long time. The story is fast paced and full of action, there’s romance, there’s danger and there’s some fantastic characters. For me a huge positive (not that there were any negatives apart from it ended) of the story was the amazing descriptive language and brilliant world building the author used and did. I was really immersed into this story because of that and it made it so much more of an exciting read.
I really liked Blaze, he was a really strong character and I connected well with him I felt. The author did a great job with explaining his character and I found myself really empathising with the way he felt. I genuinely wanted the best for him.
I thought Valerie was also a really great character. She was really dedicated to her job and determined to combat Vampires! I could really feel the dilemma she faced when she came across Blaze, he represented everything she has ever hated but also stirred something inside her too.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and it absolutely will not be the last! A fantastic 5 star read that I highly recommend!

I give Releasing the Demons (The Order of the Senary) by L.D. Rose, 5 stars.

Blaze is a hybrid who spent too long at the hands of a vampire being tortured. He thought he would never survive. But his brothers rescued him. It took him a long time to mentally get out of there, but he just exists now. He only lives for killing any and all vampires. But when he has a run in with a female human detective, he starts to feel again. She is in danger and he needs to protect her. But is that all?

Valerie is on the scene of yet another horrific vampire murder. All signs point to Blaze. Bit the more she knows him, the more she thinks that maybe it wasn’t him. He wants to find the killer as bad as she does. Can she trust him? If it wasn’t him, then who is behind it? And why does she feel more for him than she really should?

This is a wonderful paranormal suspense romance. The characters are so engaging. I hope to see more of Blaze and Valerie in the future. The author crafts a world in which you get lost in immediately and feel sorry that the ride is over when you come to the the last page. Expertly done, I hope to read much more of this series in the future.

If you like paranormal books with action/suspense and romance, this book is for you.
