Betrayal of the Gods is book 5 in the incredibly addictive Relic Hunter series by Martin Ferguson. I have read every single book from this series so far, and Martin outdoes himself every single time!! This book can be read as a stand-alone but I heavily recommend starting from the beginning because you’re gonna love it! As with every book in this series it’s full with twists and turns, incredible storytelling, and lovable characters with adventure around every corner. I love this series and jumped at the chance to read the newest addition, and continue to recommend it highly!

This is the third book of the ‘Relic Hunters’ series and continues shortly after book 2. All of the books have separate themes but the character plot and growth are connected so this is not to be read as a stand alone.
The British Museum is asked to come investigate a U Boat from WWII found that was never commissioned. There was no paperwork for it. Once the group enters the boat, they find a symbol they do not recognize and a few they do. A crazed woman shows up and pillages the boat, then she blows it up. Adam and the crew only have a couple pictures to go on to find out what this boat was used for. Not only that but who is this woman and what did they find?
Things are not making sense and it is up to the crew to find out why? They find a remaining survivor from that time but the veteran just makes things more confusing. Throw in a bout of undead to make things worse for the crew. This is the first time the brothers are actually working together in the field after Matt’s injury and it’s a doozy.
The author always writes point of views in both the present and the past. The past portion of the book this time around is about a Private Cooper who was too young to be in this war but lied about his age to join. He is connected to the background of the U Boat. He goes through hell and back and wants nothing more than to make it home to his love, Maggie.
I personally am not a fan of modern history but I really enjoy this author’s writing. They are very knowledgeable of a broad area of history and the author writes the present day filled with action from the first page to the last. So far my favourite character is Emma. She is sassy but has a soft side. From the first time Adam met her, he has had a thing for her. As time goes on, she seems to be warming up to him. I am rooting for them to get together.

This is book five in the Relic Hunters series and can be read as a standalone. The chapters are small enough and easy to be digested for a young adult audience. I felt so much confused as the chapters go back and forth in time, even though they do give a heading at the beginning of each one. There’s plenty of adventure and the weaving of Greek mythology throughout the plot was done well. Ferguson creates attention to detail to keep the reader engrossed in the story. It’s a call to adventure readers will enjoy.

Adam and Matt Hunter set out on their most intimate quest to date, but they are by themselves this time. The brothers are competing in the biggest race of their lives without any gear or assistance. If they are to survive as they go through the Greek mythology legends, they will need to employ all of their abilities. Declared criminals, they will be hunted down by tenacious adversaries and people they had considered allies; their own group, tasked with putting an end to Adam and Matt at whatever costs.
Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. The story really brings us into their world. I couldn’t put the book down.

After Matt was found and hurt in the previous book, he was told he needed to take time to recover before he was allowed to go back in the field. While this is happening, they offer Adam a temporary position within the team just until Matt is back on his feet. That means Adam is back and causing havoc everywhere he goes yet again. Only this time, it’s in Egypt.
After a bunch of sandstorms hit Egypt, a giant pyramid is uncovered. Never discovered or entered by anyone in this day and age. After losing the lives of those they sent inside, Egypt realizes that they may need outside help and sends for the best of the best and the British Museum is one of the teams who answered the call. With traps, poison, scorpions and maybe even a banshee, it is near impossible to get inside to explore. This does not stop Adam and the crew, they will find a way in and discover the lost secrets no matter what.
Again, the author wrote the book with 2 different timelines, the present and this time about ancient Egypt. I have always been a fan of mythology so I was excited to learn that the past was written about Isis, Set, Anubis and other gods and goddesses from that time. I don’t know that much about the Egyptian Myths so I was excited to get to learn about them. On to the next book of the series!

This is the first book I read by Martin Ferguson, despite being the fifth book in the Relic Hunter Series. While technically this book COULD be read as a standalone, due to the character building and storylines from previous books that I’m assuming contribute to the reader’s understanding of this book, I would highly recommend reading them in order. (This is not to say it can’t be done, however there were many mentions of previous characters, etc. that I wish I would have had the previous stories to outline). At any rate! I thoroughly enjoyed the marrying of Greek mythology with current artifact hunters, and especially enjoyed the interlacing of well known Greek myths with the tales of the lost city of Atlantis, a myth I know much less about. The relic hunters themselves were fun to “get to know” in the story, brothers trying to hunt down their father’s last mission (along with the very recent discovery that they unknowingly were following in their father’s footsteps). Most importantly, I’m dying to read the next one because it definitely didn’t resolve here! Plan on reading book six FOR SURE!

Betrayal of the Gods is Book Five in the Relic Hunters Series. It is a YA adventure with drama, action, mystery, intrigue, and danger. The story is superbly written and full of historical detail, Greek mythology and folklore. Brothers Matt and Adam must race against time to try to solve the mystery around what happened to their father. In this adventure the brothers find themselves without the help of their team and aided only by their wit and skills to solve the mystery. A fast-paced story with twists and turns that will keep you riveted and have you reading until the final pages. I highly recommend this book and this series!

Adam Hunter is a sixteen year old boy who lives a boring life, always getting into trouble to make his life more exciting. That is until he gets news that his older brother, Matt, is missing. Turns out Matt was living a double life. Adam thought his brother worked a boring desk job. That was far from the truth. He actually was a relic hunter working for a British Museum. Adam may be the only one who can find his brother through encrypted clues left behind in Matt’s journal he kept.
Matt was looking for the lost Eagle of the ninth legion. Something that was thought of as just a myth. Adam leaves behind everything he knows and makes his way to Rome to try to find the Eagle and his brother. He isn’t the only one on the hunt for the Eagle though and the people also relic hunting are very dangerous. With the help from Matt’s team at the museum, Adam realizes he must not fail. Lives are at stake.
The author wrote this book in two different timelines, the present and back sometime around 70 AD. I personally am not a huge fan of roman history but I liked how the author wrote from the perspective of someone from that time, plus the present day was full of mystery and action that kept me engaged. I also enjoyed Adam’s character growth. He lived in the shadow of his older brother and felt unworthy but since Matt’s saving was up to Adam, he had time to live up to his potential and grow up in a way. I am excited to see what the Hunter brothers are up to next.

This is the 5 th book in The Relic Hunters Series. Although each book can be read as a standalone, you have more knowledge and background of the storylines and characters if you read them in order. It’s been a while since I read the first book but it didn’t take long before I was sucked into Matt and Adam’s adventure. I especially like reading about the different locations the brothers travel to and search for the relic. The world the author created is action packed, keeps the story moving, and we get to know these characters and why they hunt for the relics.

Relic Hunters: Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Series) by Martin Ferguson . This is the 5th installment in the Relic Hunter series and it follows 2 brothers Matt and Adam. They are continuing their mission to find the lost city of Atlantis. The brothers are facing something they’ve never had to deal with in a battle and that is they have no equipment or supplies to help them fight the battle of their lives. They have to rely on their skills and smarts as they fight. The boys learn so much about Greek myths thru this story and they learn they don’t know nearly as much as they thought they did. There is a side story about Princess Alaina of Atlantis and her fight in the Trojan War as well. This is a fast paced young adult story that will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will want to finish it when you start. I highly recommend reading these in order to help you better understand the story line and characters.

Kingdom of the Ocean is the sixth and final book in the Relic Hunters series by Martin Ferguson. This was a bit of a bittersweet read for me knowing I was diving into the conclusion of this superb series, but also desperately needing to know how everything plays out in the end after everything they/we have been through. As with the other instalments in this series, this is a fantastic young adult action-adventure with wonderful characters, treasure hunting, the quest for Atlantis, family friendship, historical details, mythology, drama, mystery, danger, investigation, tension, an intriguing & complex plot, high stakes, and a race against time. This instalment picks up where the previous book left off, so if you are yet to read that book, or are yet to start the series, then I highly recommend that you do so before starting out on this final adventure. There are really important details, bridging storyline/arch, character introductions, backstories, and other important information contained in the previous books which you need to know in order to fully appreciate this fantastic instalment, as well as the series as a whole. Mr. Ferguson has done a fantastic job of delivering an exciting and fitting conclusion to the series, while ensuring that the various threads that have spanned the series were all tied up. But, I am ever hopeful that there are many more possible Relic Hunter adventures yet to come in the future — as even though the story and threads were tied up (for these six books and one novella)- things are left quite ‘open’ at the end…….. suggesting (at least to my ever-hopeful little heart anyway) that there are many more treasures/legends/myths/adventure left for the team to pursue I will again mention that this series would make a really great movie, TV series, or adventure/RPG game. Highly recommend for anyone who loves YA epic adventures, history, treasure hunting quests, and mysteries. Looking forward to seeing what Mr. Ferguson has in store for us next! Happy Reading…

So, I haven’t read any of this series previously but I actually found it pretty easy to read and follow. This isn’t my usual genre to read either but I thought the synopsis sounded interesting so thought I would give it a try. I was really impressed with the authors writing style, his writing was very engaging and I know my attention was kept throughout. It was easy to read and was a perfect book for YA readers. There was quite a lot going on in the story, it was very fast paced and full of action but at the same time it wasn’t confusing and easy to follow. The characters are really interesting and I would certainly like to read the previous books in the story to find out more about them. Overall a really good read and one that I would highly recommend.

I just finished reading Betrayal of the Gods and realised there was another book to get my hands on. Kingdom of the Oceans is the sixth tale in this series that never fails to take you on an exciting adventure into the unknown but filled with historical facts and fiction. Martin Ferguson’s Relic Hunters series reminds me of the TV series of the same name plus others like it, Blood and Treasure, National Treasure and the like. I have said it before, and I will say it again whether you are a YA or in your sixties this adventure story is one you will not want to put down. It has it all to make it an epic read with thrills, mystery, drama and danger that will have your heart pumping as the Adam and Matt chase after the mystical lost kingdom of Atlantis with the bad guys hot on their tails. With some cleverly woven threads, a few twists turns and an engaging and engrossing storyline this is one you do not want to miss. Make sure to read all the books in order to see what other adventures the Relic team get to go on. As usual I can’t wait for more from Martin as he never lets me down.

I enjoyed the dynamic between Matt and Adam. I loved how I love the mythology references in this story. I was able to enjoy this as a standalone not having read the previous books, which I feel like I might need to read those as well. Enjoyed the story and want to know more about Matt and Adam. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

This book can be read as a stand alone which is great. The author pulls you in from the very first page. The plot is very well done and the author keeps you intrigued enough to keep you reading.

Betrayal of the Gods is the 5th installment of the Relic Hunters Series. Just like the books before it, it sucks you in right from the start. Although technically I guess anyone who hadn’t read the previous books could pick this up and read it as a stand alone, but my suggestion would be read them in order as they come out. This is a fantastic mix of fiction, greek mythology and history. It is rather fast paced, so I was able to hunker down and read this in one sitting.

This is the fifth book in the Relic Hunters series, and it absolutely blows my mind that each and every one of them has been incredible! I knew from previous books in the series that I wasn’t going to be able to put it down, so I made sure to find a quiet, comfortable place to devour this entire thing. I recommend reading this series in order as the characters have been in each one, and their dynamic changes a bit throughout. This book closely follows Adam and Matt as they are in quite the predicament. I sat on the edge of my seat the entire way through as the author really dialed up the suspense and danger in this one. I won’t give anything away except the fact that you will need to clear a few hours of your day to devour this book. I highly recommend picking it up (and the series) because it’s phenomenal! I’ll be following this author closely so I can enjoy more of their expertly crafted tales.

The Hunter brothers are back and this time they are on their own, the team that they have been with is torn apart as the brothers find out some information which they have been seeking all their lives, and more on top of that. The betrayal is something they didn’t expect and ends up with them walking out and beginning a hunt of their own.
This means that for the first time, the Hunter brothers are lacking in equipment, supplies, information or support, but they do have their smarts, skills and tricks to be able to get the help they need. The journey starts out at home where they are shown something both close to their hearts and miles away at the same time, however, it just solidifies their determination to find out the answers they long for.
As usual, nothing is simple and straightforward, however, they do find someone else who can give them their first waypoint and so the chase begins. They realise that although they know a lot about mythology, this chase is going to lead them on an epic journey of discovery where myth and reality collide and with both their friends and enemies hot on their trail, will the two brothers be able to uncover all the information they need, or will this journey be their last one?
This is a cross country race against time as the hunters become the hunted in this dangerous and life altering journey in the footsteps of history.

It has been a while since I have read the previous books in the series so I was excited to get my hands on the latest instalment. I found it so easy to reconnect with the characters. They are on another fantastic journey that was excited, action packed and honestly brilliant to read. I think this book has to be my favourite in the series so far. It combines so many different elements and it feels like it keeps the book fresh and interesting. This book is full of twists and turns and I enjoyed every moment of it. I would highly recommend this book and the whole series.

Betrayal of the Gods is the fifth book in the Relic Hunters series by Martin Ferguson. It is a superb young adult adventure- with plenty of action, historical details, Greek mythology, drama, mystery, danger, investigation, intrigue, tension, dynamic characters, a complex plot, and a race against time. I was excited to see this book pop up on my recommended books as I have really enjoyed the rest of the series- so diving into this story was a no-brainer. As I have mentioned many times before, and will probably do again- this series would make a really great movie, TV series, or adventure/RPG game. Mr. Ferguson attention to detail is apparent in his cleverly crafted tales- his world building/storytelling is rich and vividly detailed- making for quite an engrossing read. This action-packed adventure kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end as Adam and Matt are thrust into an epic adventure that will test them like never before. In a race against time, these two are about to face their biggest challenge. What happens makes for a great read. I really recommend this series to anyone who loves YA, adventure, and history. And even though you could read this as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one- as this is definitely a series you won’t want to miss a moment. This was a fun book. There were some interesting plot lines. I also found the weaving of mythology well done. I liked the characters but wasn’t as in invested in them as I would have liked. I feel like I should probably read the others in the series.

This is the fifth book in the Relic Hunters series. As a lover of history this series has been a favourite of mine since book 1. The author does an incredible job of mixing history with adventure. Their attention to detail in every area really brings history to life and I love being transported back in time. In this book we mainly deal with Greek history and mythology and the surprising realisation that not all myths are stories. Some are actually true. Adam and Matt face their biggest challenge to date as they have to go alone to solve the mystery of what happened to their day. Without the help of their team or equipment the odds are really stacked against them. With people taking other the museum, trying to take all the things they have preserved from history and secrets and lies being unravel the brothers are not stuck with not knowing who they can trust. Can they even trust their own team mates or boss. Or is their boss hiding more secrets from them. This is a fast paced story as the brothers race against time to solve the mystery of what happened to their dad, while facing the the myths and legends from Greek Mythology and if that is not enough they are seen as outlaws and their old friends and team mates are tasked with stopping them from completing their tasks and getting to the truth. This book is an enjoyable read for young adults and old adults alike. The story is captivating and full of twists and turns that keep me on the edge of my seat. Once you start this series you will not be able to stop reading it.

Betrayal of the Gods is the fifth instalment of Martin Ferguson’s Relic Hunters series. The majority of the book follows Adam, and his brother, Matt, who set off to finish the mission their father started: to find the lost city of Atlantis. But the book also follows Princess Alaina of Atlantis and her experience of the Trojan War. It was really interesting reading these stories alongside each other, centuries apart, and seeing how they connected. My favourite character is Adam and my least favourite character is Elizabeth. I recommend this book because I love Greek mythology and this is a really interesting take on it, I think Martin did really well incorporating history and mythology into his own fantasy series. I’d really like to read the sixth and final instalment of the series, to see if Adam and Matt really did find Atlantis. ‘I had not known love before him. If he should fall, I would not want to live on without him.’
