The Lies Between Us: A Psychic Romantic Suspense (Deadly Secrets Book 4) by Cynthia Cooke – Review by Jennifer Gordon

The Lies Between Us: Deadly Secrets Book 4The Lies Between Us: Deadly Secrets Book 4 by Cynthia Cooke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an action packed romantic suspense novel with a psychic twist, and it is book four in author Cynthia Cooke’s ‘Deadly Secrets’ series. Although a fairly short story it is packed full of action, drama, suspense and of course romance. This book can be read as either part of the ‘psychic romantic suspense series’ or as a standalone story. The heroine of the story is Cat who is a psychic and has to save her undercover FBI Agent husband Tom who has been kidnapped by a drug lord. Although Cat and Tom have been married for years they both have secrets that they are keeping from each other. Tom is not really a salesman but an undercover FBI agent, who’s double life puts them both in danger when he is kidnapped trying to rescue a CI. In order to rescue her husband Cat uses her extraordinary psychic abilities which she had been hiding.
This was a gripping read and I literally read it all in one sitting as I needed to know how it would end. I loved the main characters, Cat and Tom, who were both likeable and relatable and I enjoyed seeing how their relationship both changed and developed throughout the story. I particularly liked Cat and how she made the decision to use her powers and show what she was capable off despite making a promise to her husband previously not to use her psychic abilities. A great storyline, intriguing characters and an action packed plot made this a fast paced page turner of a novel. I look forward to reading the previous books in the series now.

Tompkin’s School: For The Resurrected (A Supernatural Academy Trilogy Book 3) by Tabi Slick – Review by Sara Oxton

Tompkin's School: For The Resurrected (Supernatural Trilogy #3)Tompkin’s School: For The Resurrected by Tabi Slick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tomkins School: For the Resurrected by Tabi Slick a five-star read that will bring the fire to your life. This is number three in the Supernatural Academy series and they have gone from strength to strength, I would say to read them in order as the do complement each other, especially now we have the whole trilogy, the build the world and make it so good you can’t help but be there with them. The characters are great Izara and Kain pull you in and are pulled as well, that added something extra to this one. Of all of the trilogy this one was my favourite, I don’t know if it was as I knew the characters better, or there was just something extra, this one pulled me in harder. Do not miss this great series.

Wendigo Forest by C.A. King, USA Today Bestselling Author – Review by Carrie Reed

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars!

Yes! I want more! I wasn’t sure how this book was going to play out being so short, or if I would even be able to get in to it, I DID! I was so hooked by the last page I was screaming for more! I’m not sure if I have ever read a story centered around wendigos but I loved this story. Clara seems like an odd one, but I was so hoping she would make some new friends that she could form a long lasting relationship with, but she felt as if she was the odd one out yet again. I am also holding out hope that Hank isn’t a jerk, sometimes he seems like he would be and then other times I am hoping for Clara and Hank to develop something special. Her parents are only in this town to chase down the most current serial killer, an assumed wendigo. There is a nice twist at the end that will change Clara’s life forever. I really need to see what happens next so fingers crossed there is a follow up to this book!

Wendigo ForestWendigo Forest by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wendigo Forest by C.A. King a fast paced five-star read. This is a typical read by this author, its engaging, compelling and will have you wondering where the time went when you finish as you start this story, and get so gripped by the story you don’t look up until its over. I did finish it and feel like there could have been more pages, but I feel that about most novels. Clara was a character that you could get behind, she is struggling, and you can see her story unfolding. What I love most about this author is the way the words appear on the page, they reveal a story before your eyes, you can see the characters and the scene unfold like a movie in your mind. Do not miss this author as they have a great way with words.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a great young adult read but is so well written that even as an adult I was drawn in a captivated by the story. It had a strong female character and the authors writing is so good the images it creates bring the story to life.

Sarah Sorry has a simple life. She is popular and has good friends. To her appearances in everything. So imagine her horror when one day she gets a zit.

But these aren’t just normal zits. These show her the beginning of her powers that she didn’t know she had.
She has no idea how to control them or how they work, and while trying to keep her image in tact she makes mistakes in more ways that one.

Being a teenager just got more complicated. Can she learn to control her power? Or will they destroy her image and status in school?

Key to Tirumfall (The Tirumfall Trilogy Book 3) by J Drew Brumbaugh – Review by Kerry Baker

Key to Tirumfall (Tirumfall Trilogy #3)Key to Tirumfall by J. Drew Brumbaugh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Key to Tirumfall by J Drew Brumbaugh is the third book in the Tirumfall Trilogy. This series does need to be read in order as it is a continuation of the same story throughout. This book is a fantastic conclusion to what has been an amazing series. Reading this book was just as exciting as when I started the series. I absolutely devoured reading this book as I just had to see how it was all going to end. Yet at the same time I really didn’t want to get there as it meant the end of this amazing series.
When I started reading this series it was the first time I had read anything by this author and I can now say it will definitely not be the last. I loved how descriptive and imaginative it all was and how engaged and connected to the story and the characters I became. This is a brilliant example of why I like this genre of writing and I really can’t wait to see what else this author has to offer.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thunder On The Moor by Andrea Matthews is a unique and well written book that had my utterly engrossed the whole way through. I loved how the author has taken the two different times and combined them so easily as if it is done every day.
Maggie is such a great character. She is strong and engaging character. It was easy to relate to her and what she was feeling. It was so easy to imagine being in her shoes, going through the experiences that she did.
The story itself was well thought out and developed perfectly. It felt like the author took her time to create a great story. As a new author to me I was impressed with her writing style and the overall progression of the book. I am looking forward to reading more from her in the future.

I loved reading the book A Merry Texan Christmas (The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 3) by Nicole Flockton. It is a wonderful holiday romance story that will warm your heart. I love the characters of Trey Prentice and Maggie Watson. Trey is a guy that finds himself at odds with Maggie who is known as Miss Christmas. It is about the decorations/display that he has put in his shop. A rivalry begins. So does the attraction that they both feel for each other. What does the future hold for Trey and Maggie? Read this book to find out. Maggie is intelligent, kind, and very talented when it comes to decorating for Christmas. Trey is a man who is handsome and not afraid to flirt with Maggie. I grew to care about what happens to Maggie and Trey. I also enjoyed reading about the additional characters that interact with Maggie and Trey. I love that some of the characters were brought forward from the first two books. The story has romantic moments as well as times when Maggie and Trey clashed. The author has done a wonderful job of making a story that is exciting and entertaining to read. This is probably one of the best Psychic Suspense stories to date. This is a full length romance with plenty to ponder, as you read along.

Tom Phillips is an undercover FBI agent. His current investigation is finding and stopping the drug lord, Carlos. So stepping back, you need to know Tom is Married with 2 young children. Keeping his real job is a secret to his family and friends. But when Cat finds out he is missing, it becomes her job to find and bring her husband back home safe. In this story you will read about the drug lord, the kidnapping, the affair (supposed) and Cats’ secret.

Cynthia Cooke you have done a great job keeping this rollercoaster of a thrilling suspense going! WOW! The feels are everywhere! The suspense is throughout this story. This is also a fast paced story. She will drag you into the events on page one and keep you there until the end. This story is well written and the characters fit their roles well. Faerie’s Magic: a fae shifter romance (Seasons of the Fae Book 2) by Jessica Feyden – Review by Jennifer Wolbeck

Faerie's Magic (Seasons of the Fae Book 1)Faerie’s Magic by Jessica Feyden
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Faerie’s Magic has a lot of potential to be a great novel, not just another paranormal romance. The overarching plot is actually well done, and the worlds of the fae and the wolf shifters are pleasantly fleshed out and immersive. I also liked the magic system and I’m fascinated by the “inner wolf” that the shifters have. Is it just an inner voice like a conscience, or do shifters have dual personalities that shift beings when they switch between wolf and humanoid form?

If you enjoy a strong willed, hot tempered pair of love interests that have passionate, explicit sex, then you’ll enjoy this book. However, there were too many typos, awkward phrasings and confusing sentence structures for me to truly enjoy the story. I don’t mind a little bit of profanity, but Feyden’s writing is peppered with it. I also require more out of my romance stories than just fixations on “finding my mate”, which was the first half of the book, and “claiming my mate”, which was the second half of the book.

Kismet Heart: A Protector Romance is the first book in the “Surviving Love” series by Brinda Berry. It is a fast paced, action-packed romantic suspense- full of mystery and intrigue. The story has a wonderful blend of nail-biting action and suspense, which is then balanced with some emotion and a little humour.
Malerie has seen so much tragedy in her short life- and things are about to get even more intense. Ace is assigned to keep her safe- which becomes more complicated than he first expected- and so the story takes off.
Well worth the read. It was quite and intense ride.

Thank you, Brinda Berry!

A Beach Wedding To Die For is the second book in the Cozy Mysteries To Die For series by Judy Moore. I really enjoyed reading the first book in this series and this book did not disappoint. Beck O’Rourke lives with her grandmother Miss Alice and her younger sister Lizzie. They live above the Beach Reads bookstore and coffee shop that they own. Beck has always wanted to be a detective and is determined to follow through on her dream. However, there seems to be a rather attractive Manatee Beach Police Department detective that keeps getting in her way. She must decide which path she wants to pursue, her lifelong dream or the handsome Devon Mathis. With three grooms at a beach wedding, someone is bound to not make it out alive. I love the cozy mystery atmosphere of this story. Just when I thought I knew who the killer was I would get thrown a curveball. The author does a great job keeping you on your toes throughout. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.

Christy Nicholas is a great author. She has written an amazing series. I have read every book so far and I have to admit that this is my favorite so far. One thing I admire about her storytelling is that I get pulled in right away. Her attention to detail keeps me wanting to read the story until I am done with it. Her characters are fully developed and easy to imagine. In this story, Cliodhna’s family is missing her husband. She meets a stranger outside her home. This stranger tells her that he will help her. He will help her with her talents. There are choices that are made some good and some bad. Will the bad choices be more? Can they cost her family? I highly recommend reading this story so you can read about Cliodhna’s story and family. To see which path she is going to take.

Age of Druids by Christy Nicholas is the ninth book in the Druids Brooch series. This series does not have to be read in order however I would definitely recommend it as I think you would miss a lot of the finer detail if you started from this book.
There are not many series that go on as long as this one, let alone would be able to hold my interest. And yet this book does it with ease as the author creates yet another interesting and unique story. I was immediately caught up in this story and found myself flying through the pages. Yet at the same time I wanted to stop and savour every page knowing that the series is coming to an end.

I have read numerous stories from this author. I usually enjoy them and look forward to more. This one is a short read. It is very slow with a lot of narration. This one is good for a Halloween storytelling-time kind of year. It has spooky elements that are good for the dark room, eerie music, campfire telling. Just the execution could have been better. I am glad this isn’t my first book by this author, not sure I would look for more.
